Reviews for Bohicket Marina and Yacht Club
Great place to stop for a night, 2016-03-04
Captain: , NYC - Liberty Landing (182)

Getting pounded in 35 kts on the nose headed south, we gave Bohicket a ring and they easily put us (48' sail ) on a t-head for the night. $108 with a US Boat discount. Handful of restaurants on property and VERY dog friendly. Was a little bit of a ride in from the ocean, but near high tide, we had no issues with a 6' draft.

Great place to stop, 2015-12-12
Captain: , Rock Hall, MD (140)

This is an excellent facility. The docks and grounds are very well maintained. Marina personnel were there to help us dock and to cast off. The harbormaster even loaned me his personal vehicle to make a run to the grocery store. There is good shopping at the marina with more stores a short distance away. No complaints here. The currents are pretty strong so be aware.

Very Nice Area, 2015-07-14
Captain: , Wrightsville Beach, NC (10)

Very nice marina with great amenities. WATCH out for VERY strong currents when tides changing.

June 19th overnight dockage, 2015-06-20
Captain: , Supply, North Carolina (20)

no help in docking, wasp in power station, extremely long distance to facilities, no internet, no cable, a staff that does not care anything about transients. good restaurants and shops

Great stop, long way up the creek, 2014-07-12
Captain: , palm harbor (160)

Was heading from beaufort to Charleston and when we hit the north edisto the tide was not in our favor so we head down the river and into bohicket. The tide in the creek took our speed to under 4 kts as it was moving pretty quick. It was a long ride up the creek to get to the marina.
We were met by two staff at our t head that they assigned us but we needed fuel as we were leaving early in the morning so they got in their golf cart and met us down at the fuel dock. They got us our fuel and then tied us in back at the T. Great staff here.
The facilities are good and there are an abundance of restaurants. We ate at the Ice House and had a good dinner than threw some bean bags outside before retiring. Long walk from our location to the showers/restaurants/hmaster office.

Lots of marine activity in the water as I heard the sounds against the hull all night.

Overpriced, no dock help, and layout., 2014-04-25
Captain: , Wimauma, Fl. (54)

Called ahead to check if slips were open. Told could only stay one night, 22 sailboats comming for the weekend, come on what about tonight. Put on 'T' which is the worst for most boat when there is a high or fast tide. Got no help with lines. Told WiFi was open (no password) but when you log on they want a credit card to use. Toilets/Showers are at the far end of the marina, too long to walk, as well as restaurants. At $2.50 a foot in the middle of nowhere someone needs to count empty slips then think about lowering the price to fill-up the marina and make more $ in the long run.

Easy access from ICW or Atlantic, 2013-10-30
Captain: , Hilton Head Island, SC (377)

Bohicket is a convenient and well-maintained marina. We visited twice in September on our way from Hilton Head to Charleston and returning to Hilton Head. We arrived from the ICW on our way north and departed and returned via the Atlantic. It took about an hour at 7 kts both from the ICW and the Atlantic. Neither route was a problem.

We called and requested somebody to help with our dock lines and was told somebody would meet us at the T-head. We tried to call again a few minutes out as requested but couldn't raise anybody on the VHF. We finally got an answer from our cell phone, but nobody arrived to give us a hand. Fortunately, a neighborly sailor gave us a hand.

That was the only negative for either of our one-night stays. The dockmaster and dockhands were very friendly and otherwise helpful. The showers and bath room are clean, and there is plenty to do in the immediate marina area. I would strongly recommend the 10-15 walk to Freshfield's Village (which may now be called something else because the beautiful Freshfield's Market is now a Harris Teeter Market).

Captain: , Nyack, NY (556)

Stayed here while attending lovely wedding @ Seabrook Island. Nice facility w/ spa, restaurants, and shopping nearby. Our visit was marred by noisy megayachters partying way past cruisers midnight. Also, dock bumpers are black rubber which left a streak on our boat, coming in to the T dock with a swift current. The dockhand cleaned it up and was otherwise helpful. Beautiful spot, but we prefer being on the hook.

Very Nice Stop, 2013-06-13
Captain: , Perry, Kansas (317)

Stopped for one night, conveniently located between Charleston, SC and Port Royal Landing Marina (A days travel). Lots of on site shopping/restaurants. Docks are nice. Would definitley stay again.

Good weekend, 2013-03-13
Captain: , Charleston, SC (284)

Spent the weekend. Facilities are nice and the staff is cordial. Great shopping and food both on premises and by a short walk.

Nice upscale marina and area.

Bohicket Marina, 2012-10-07
Captain: , Charleston (105)

We visited again for a long weekend. The showers are good. The Wi-Fi is poor.

Best thing about Bohicket is that it is a 10 minute walk from Freshfield's Village which is an upscale shopping area that serves Kiawah and Seabrook Islands. Very good shopping. Great grocery. Several first rate restaurants

8.5 nm off ICW.

Previous review is correct that currents are swift but that is the nature of the Low Country.

We specifically asked about docking assistance and were told that it was available from 8 am till 5 pm. We called in, got docking instructions, and a competent dockhand was avilable to meet us. The office staff was helpful and pointed out restaurant choices. We left the next morning and needed no help.

Excellent restaurants a few steps from the dock.

Nice place, 2012-10-07
Captain: , Salt Ponds, Va (535)

I visited this maina while my boat was being painted at Ross Marine. Transit rate wae quoted as $3.25/ft. Deep water all slips and easy access to the ocean via Edisto River inlet. Reds is a reasonabley priced resturant with good food. If you're driving around keep to the posted speeds, cops like to give tickets.

Docked boat here while on vacation in rental house, 2012-08-08
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay MD (495)

While renting house on Island we kept a 18 foot Ski Natique at marinia to use during the week. Staff was helpful just pulled boat to gas dock and they would move boat as needed to other docks. BEER and ice at store and REDS was best reataurant we went to for lunch.

While there during PGA tournament Tiger docked his 185 + -? foot boat there. So dock can handle large boats.

Great access to ocean and ICW for runs up and down ICW.

Great little marina, 2012-04-17
Captain: , St. Somewhere (530)

Left boat here for a month. Great rate. Nice little marina community.

4/16/2012...Boat is here again for another month. Same great people and service. They've added another restaurant since I was here. Red's. Haven't tried it yet, maybe in a month when I go back.

Kiawah Visit, 2012-04-11
Captain: , Asheville, nc (11)

My family stayed at Kiawah and we took the chance to launch our new MacGregor 26M. The boat's 4 ft too big to launch via the marina's forklift, so we made the 45 min drive to the Cherry Point ramp. Our marina stay was a good option if you don't have access to Kiawah's private ramps. Good docks, service, food and views.

don't miss red's ice house, 2011-11-03
Captain: , north kingstown (341)

Had my son's rehersal dinner here...great service... came back 3 other times... good music but not too loud at slips

Memorial Day Weekend, 2011-05-31
Captain: , Folly Beach, SC (90)

Sailed down from Folly Beach with my five year old for his first ocean sail and second overnight on Water Music. Staff was very friendly. I liked the single berth docking. My little boy met numerous other boaters who were all very friendly. Ships Store, restraunts, entertainment were all very conveniently located. My son wanted to stay two nights he had such a great time, but I had a charter the next day and had to return to Folly. We will definitely be back. Fun trip!

great overnight!, 2011-05-31
Captain: , CHARLESTON (330)

Enjoyed a night over the memorial day weekend. Lovely area, nice docks. Stong current and no dock hands available even du;ring business hours. Fuel not very accessible - but a great locale!! Live music and great restaurants. Would definetly stay here again

great oysters!, 2011-05-19
Captain: , NEW BERN (10)

were there for the govenors cup, great place

Wonderful marina and area!, 2011-04-01
Captain: , Mt. Pleasant, SC (10)

We take our boat there from charleston for overnighters or stay there on the way to Hilton Head and it is such a great marina and area. Red's has opened a restaurant at the marina which adds to the convenience. Outside seating and allows pets! even better. just a short walk up a paved path away from the road is a shopping area called Freshfields. The center is packed with shops, restaurants, excellent grocery store, etc. They even do outdoor concerts and movies on the weekends. We have never been disappointed in a trip or stopover here.

Very nice marina with lots of stuff around, 2010-09-10
Captain: , Savannah,GA (376)

We stayed two nights during the first week of Sept-2010. Really enjoyed the marina and the close location to golf and shopping. The currents are very strong at times but that is the coastal low country.

Great place to stay, 2010-08-09
Captain: , Warsaw, Ky (875)

Located about 7.5 miles or so off the ICW. Well worth the trip.

Very helpful marina staff. When we called the marina upon arrival they asked if we would like assistance. We said yes and two dockhands were there to assist our docking.

Three restaurants and a ships store on location. Discount for Boats US membership.

Try to time your arrival for slack tide as the tide rips through here.

Great golf and shopping, 2010-06-19
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (273)

The marina has floating docks and helpful marina staff. They will drive you to golf or other places on the island. Many golf courses within three miles. Freshfields Village only six blocks from marina has a grocery store, liquor store, restuarants and upscale shops. There are three restaurants, and a ship store on site.

Very strong Current - Unfriendly marina, 2008-05-12
Captain: , Marathon, FL (1150)

Try to time your approach for slack tide. The tides rip through here, and there probably will not be anyone to catch a line.
From the time we got here to when we left, 3 days later, (due to strong storms) we only saw marina employees twice. Both times they acted as if they couldn't care less whether we were here.
However, it's a very attractive area, and great resort-type shopping about a mile away. Turn left out of the parking lot and walk or bike to Freshfields Village - wonderful grocery store and many other places to spend your money. You're on your own to discover it - marina doesn't give out area info.
