Reviews for Brewer Bohemia Vista Marina
Clean and quiet but arrive mid tide or higher, 2015-07-22
Captain: , Naples, FL (682)

This is a clean and tidy marina in a quiet location. Floating docks are new and in good state of repair. Bathrooms are new and clean (and air conditioned). Community room with laundry facility, large screenTV and coffee machine is a bonus.
We had little guidance on the best course to take on entering the river so have posted more information here based on our course in and different course out.
The course that worked for us was to depart the Elk River channel at markers G13/R14 and proceed direct to a point at N39-28.8 W075-54.3 and from there directly to the marina entrance.
We used this route on the way out and had minimum 6 ft depth all the way to the Elk River channel at mid tide (except for the marina entracne itself that was 5ft). On the way in we were closer to the northern bank (but still outside the 6.9ft line) and had less than 5 ft in places at mid tide.

Nice Little Marina, 2015-07-17

Good location just South of the C&D Canal. Friendly staff keeps limited facilities serviceable and clean. Family friendly (pets too). Very nice floating docks and good ramp to day boaters. Quiet at night and during the week.

Excellent Renovated Marina, 2015-05-03
Captain: , Bohemia Vista (10)

Small (124 slips), quiet, easy access to Bohemia River, recently remodeled new dock system (floating) with wide docks and full length piers, new activities center, new/tiled bathrooms/showers and a great crew with Karen, Renee and Tory all knowledgable, experienced, friendly and accomodating. Since new ownership, Marina is great.
No fuel dock but, one right next to Marina at Two Rivers and one at Bohemia Bay. No cable.

Much improved, 2015-04-17

The staff is great. They have a nice pool and new community room. A lot of money has been spent dredging and installing new floating docks. Nice place to wach the sun go down

Much Better, but Needs Ramp Improvements, 2015-01-04
Captain: , Bohemia River, Chesapeake Bay (149)

I've kept my sailboat there for the past few years on a trailer and used their ramp often.

I agree with Capt. Aremmes+, the marina is much improved and they keep slowly upgrading it since the ownership changed a couple of years ago. The community room is nice, with a TV, magazines, and a nice but small bathroom (with a single shower) similar to you'd find at home. I think a bigger bathroom will open in 2015. There is a pool that looks nice (but I don't have priveleges to use as a trailer sailor).

Progress has been made on getting rid of some of the old junker boats there since before the great recession, although some still remain and take up precious trailer space.

Staff is nice, and the small store has many of the basics. Gasoline (no diesel) is at the marina right next door which is no more than a stones throw away.

Since I often use the ramp, I really wish they would improve it. The ramp price was raised for 2014, but no improvements were made. The dirt at the end of the concrete ramp has washed away, and the trailer wheels fall over the approx. 4" ledge when launching. Some 2WD vehicles have trouble getting their loaded trailer wheels up and over that ledge. One time at a very low tide, I almost ripped my trailer wheel off at that 4" ledge, but I aborted launching right before the raised trailer wheel scraped over the edge. If it had gone over, I could not retrieve the trailer or boat without tearing off my trailer nose wheel, as it does not rotate.

The transition between the old high fixed dock at the ramp and the long gangway to the new floating dock is difficult to walk the boat through, and there are no cleats that are reachable in the vicinity of the metal gangway. Unless you have a dock line longer than 25ft or so, push the boat off the dock AND get a running start AND have favorable Westerly winds, you risk smashing the boat into the end of the fixed dock while running up the metal gangway. There should be a horizontal rub rail installed at the transition.

There's only space for about 3 boats to tie up going in/out at the ramp, and only about 4 useable cleats. This ramp can get very busy on the weekends. What makes this worse is that the marina staff seems to tell visiting boats or guys doing maintenance to tie up near the ramp, and jams that area up even more. It can be really frustrating when floating around in the small basin while waiting for people to get their cars way up in the top parking lot. The marina doesn't want you parking close to the ramp, (even through there's lots of room in the lower lot) so it can take a long time to get your car.

I'm seriously tempted to go elsewhere next year due to the ramp deficiencies. I don't think it's an option to go their other marina ramp (Hack's Point) as it's too shallow and far away from the mouth of Bohemia for a sailboat. While the ramp at Hacks point seems better, there's no sailboat storage areas.

Great improvement, 2014-09-26
Captain: , Essington, PA (85)

The new floating piers are a big improvement over the old fixed and crumbling piers. They've cleaned up the storage yard and made improvements to the lower lot since the new owners took charge. They've gotten rid of many of the eyesore boats that were slowly rotting there. The bathrooms have been remodeled thoroughly and the old office is now a community room. While at first sight the place looks the same, it doesn't take much effort to see how much it's improved.

Very Disappointing, 2012-09-07
Captain: , Perth Amboy NJ (30)

We made this our first stop after coming from the C&D Canal. All the charts read we should be fine with depth at low tide. We made reservations ahead of time, for a mooring. Thought it was odd that we had to tell them (without being asked) our LOA and draft. As we entered the river, the depth sounder went crazy. We called to ask if we will make it through, again they said yes...with little help as to where to navigate. With shot nerves (and a keel that was assuredly dragging for most of the way) the mooring was 1: for a day sailor (we currently have a seasonally mooring up North and know what holds a big boat), not to mention we were 4 hours before low tide, and sitting in 5'5 depth (boat @ 5' draw). We called again, they offered dock space, however there is shoaling at entrance to marina we would have issues with. This marina is unprofessional and unknowledgeable about their own trade and river. We had to anchor across the way (charts read 8'9, actual was 7'6 in high tide) and were basically stuck there until high tide the next afternoon.

Worst in MD, 2012-06-15
Captain: , Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbir (10)

Bathroom are the worst I%u2019ve ever seen yet they built a new office, waste of money, staff are horrible, pool was not opened until after July,4th. Water leaks everywhere, finger piers are in need of repair. Dock boards are uneven and I%u2019ve seen people fall because of it. Owner doesn%u2019t care about safety, all they want is your money. Stay away from this place.

Could use some work, 2011-06-02
Captain: , Newark, DE (250)

I was warned about coming to this place, but the price was right! I kept my second boat here for a season and it has it ups and downs. The staff are helpful, the owner has his days. The docks old but still very functionable. High seas can flood over the parking lot. It is very remote from stores and bars so it does make for a quiet stay, just have all of your provisions. The people at this marina are mostly a friendly helpful bunch, but there is one lady who feels that she is the dock queen. Just politely ignore her. The entrance to the marina is a bit tight, but once inside you are well protected!

All in all, a nice place with lots of charm, but there are a few bad apples. Don't let them spoil your bunch.

Inexpensive annual slip fees, you get what you pay for., 2010-12-08
Captain: , Chester Springs, PA (189)

Docks are old, need repair, pilings need replacement. Wood plank breakwater offers little protection from busy Bohemia River. Small, dirty bathrooms. You will be embarrased to take your Friends here. Friendly staff however doing the best they can with the old facilities. Under new ownership since about August 2010, let's see in 2011 if the new owners invest in upgrading the facilities. Go elsewhere.

Bohemia Vista Marina, 2010-06-07
Captain: , Robbinsvill, NJ (148)

Terrible marine to keep your boat in. Open to swells from passing power boats. Yard is in terrible condition. Showers lack hot water often. Dust and dirt gets all over boats. Owner only intersted in making money, not the condition of the marina.

Dirty Rude Staff, 2009-10-06
Captain: , Kent Island (50)

Pay in advance at office for launch ramp, they forgot to give me a tag, then was accosted by travelift operator for failing to pay. Told him to check with the office, he did, never apolgized for his rudeness said he was doing his job. Get lost, run down, dirty, poorly maintained, poorly trained help, go somewhere else.

STAY AWAY, 2008-07-27
Captain: , Harbour Heights, FL (13)

This could be one of the worst marinas we have been to. Very small finger docks (1ft wide), NON FLOATING with a 4-5ft tide. You cannot get off your boat at high tide. They are too cheap to buy a marine radio for contact. You have to call them on a phone if you have one. They won't release the WIFI code unless you bring your PC in to the office for them to enter it "to protect their privacy". No protection from terrible wakes, rundown and dirty. We were very disappointed and should have red the other reviews of nearby marina before going there.
