Reviews for Boca Grande Marina
Great Experience, 2016-08-15
Captain: , St Petersburg, Fl (202)

We stayed here for one night and found a very professional and well run facility. The entire staff was very friendly and very helpful. The docks were in excellent condition and the food at the lower level restaurant was very good. (The 2nd floor restaurant was closed).

We also rented a golf cart which was gave us easy access to the entire island. The only down side was we experienced low voltage at our slip which was the outside dock just south of the fuel dock. Management said they are aware of the problem and are working to rectify it.

We will be coming back, I highly recommend this marina.

Great location and friendly staff, 2016-07-25
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (250)

Great location and they rent golf carts right from the marina office to allow you to explore all that Boca Grande has to offer. Friendly staff and nice facilities, so I would certainly stay here again!

Easy entry, 2016-06-06
Captain: , Indian Rocks Beach (296)

Nice facility, but staff isn't as friendly as you will find in other marinas. Priced high, and they charge for many things other marinas don't including a $20 pump out.

Great Location with an excellent Staff, 2016-03-04
Captain: , Hull, MA (700)

The location is Great! The marina is located within walking of downtown Boca Grande. The marina also rents golf carts for touring the island, going to there beautiful beaches, etc.
There are 2 restaurants on site along with a bar. We ate at Millers and the food was excellent!!
The marina staff is excellent. Very customer focused! they are there to assist you arriving, departing and anything else that you might need. When we first called to make a reservation, they were filled but Sue said she would call me back if there was a cancellation and she did. Ended staying 3 nights. That's customer service!!!
There is one men's and one women's restroom/shower facilities and a very small laundry; one washer, one dryer. The dryer needs to be replaced.
If you have a dingy take a tour of the canals--well woth the trip but watch out for the seaplanes. One landed right in front of the marina!!
Diesel was $ 2.20/gal, slip was $ 3.25/ft, pump out $ 20.

This is your stop; fantastic service, 2015-12-28
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale, FL (10)

Stayed the night, took on diesel, staff very helpful tying up and assisting with all our needs. We would definitely stay here again! They also have a restaurant, although we did not eat there, it was full so must have something good going on. Ask for Susan!

Nice but Expensive and No protection from N wind, 2015-11-27
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (216)

Nice facility and would visit more often if it was more reasonably priced. Pump out fees are outrageous. The worst part about the location is there is no protection from N wiinds. We were slammed into the piling all night long. Worst night ever in a marina.

Boca Grande, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Cleveland, OH (140)

Delightful resort community and well maintained facility. Dockhands proficient. Nice walk into town with quaint and high end shops. Onsite restaurant Beautiful homes and short walk to the Gulf. Expensive at 3.25 or 3.50 a foot for just an overnight stop.

Nice but..., 2015-09-09
Captain: , Cape Coral (11)

Spent one night and found the docks to be nice. The staff was excellent. But... the shore power system is a big problem. First plug in only gave 192 volts. Ac units would not work. Second plug in gave 195 volts. They then moved us to the private docks where we had 220 volts. They were aware of the problem but did not say anything up front. I cannot recommend for now, but when the power issue is resolved I would then highly recommend a stop here.

Major upgrade of docks, 2015-08-18
Captain: , Marco Island (50)

This was our second visit and the new docks they installed are much nicer. As usual their dock staff is among the best we have encountered anywhere. Only negative is that it has become a little pricey. They have rental golf carts available and the little town of Boca Grande is worthy of a visit.

Excellent, what all marina's should try to be like, 2015-08-13
Captain: , New Port Richey (123)

Completely sheltered, but easy access
Friendly and helpful dockhands
Well stocked store (a little pricey)
Walking distance to downtown

I had no complaints about this marina.

Boca Grande Marina Stay, 2015-05-23
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (105)

A very clean marina, easily navigable. Very courteous and helpful staff. The staff treated us as if we were a megayacht owner.

Top Notch Facility, 2014-12-05
Captain: , st petersburg, fl (828)

Top Notch Facility and very helpful staff.

Nice facilities, 2014-11-24
Captain: , Chicago, IL (958)

We stayed at Boca Grande for a couple of nights, very helpful staff, docks in great shape. Rented a golf cart for a day and toured the island. Downtown is very boutiquey, imagine it's very congested during height of season. Only one set of laundry machines, and only one shower each male/female, but it is a smaller marina.

GREAT marina!, 2014-11-09
Captain: , Park City, Utah (42)

Shallow approach, follow dock master's instructions precisely. Middle of the channel until Green 7, take Green 7 close to port, then move back to starboard keeping towards the west side of the channel (right side as you enter). Very nice Trex deck fixed docks, pump out, electric and water at your slip. Staff was incredibly competent, helpful and friendly. Clean showers, bathrooms and laundry (dryer was a bit slow). 1/2 mile walk to town, with well stocked grocery store (beer and wine available) a hardware store, liquor available at Temptation a block or so south of the grocery. Beach a block or so past downtown. We had dinner at Pink Elephant on the way from marina to town, was excellent! Dress code after 1800 at the Gasparilla Inn, no shorts. $3/foot, but very nice; everything is clean, new and well taken care of.

Great spot, must stop, 2014-09-27
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Brand new rebuilt early 2014 Marina, best off all facilities except no floating docks. Clean rest rooms. Terrific customer service by the dock staff, best caring helpful attitude we have ever encountered. Great spot, rent a bike or golf cart and explore. Great restaurant on site, beach about 1/2 mile away.
Nice casual restaurant on beach south two miles.
Put your good shorts on and a nice shirt and go into the Gasparilla Inn about 1/2 mile from Marina. Very classy old Fla historic 5 star hotel. They welcome walking in's for a drink or make a reservation for a classy dinner. Do not miss their Christmas decorations!
For kicks stop in walking or biking at Whiddens Marina right down the street from Marina amazing old Florida place. Will be gone to developers one day.
Great area for fishing and dingy exploring.

Pleasant Staff, 2014-09-07
Captain: , Punta Gorda (42)

Living in Southwest Florida year round has its advantages especially in Sept. All is quite before the season is upon us. The dockmaster Susan was extremely pleasant to work with to get us a slip for the day, Dan who works the docks was helpful with the tie up and guidance to getting around town on the golf cart. Although the restaurant was closed for some enhancements the rest of the facility was spotless. Very nice marina especailly if you want to explore Boca Grande for the day.

Great Marina, 2014-07-31
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (270)

We stayed at Boca Grande Marina from July 24 thru July 30th on our 44' trawler Sea Lark. Prior to our arrival, VHF contact was immediate with dockmaster, Susan Lomas, who guided us into the docks. Slip assignment was clear, and we were met by Susan and two dock staff who expertly assisted with tie-up and shore power connection.

Dockmaster services were pro-active during the entire visit and we were asked daily if we had any needs. Prior to departure we requested a pump-out, and due to a minor delay, Susan waived the pump-out fee. There were plenty of trash receptacles around the docks. Ice was conveniently located. Boater's heads/showers were meticulously cleaned each a.m., smelled fresh, and were comfortably air-conditioned and vented.

A big plus was the availability of golf carts for rental, providing a 5-minute trip to the town of Boca Grande where there are great restaurants, grocery store, drug store, wine store and other nice shops. Golf cart rental is discounted for overnight boaters. Our golf cart developed a flat tire and Susan arranged for it to be changed within 10 minutes. They "aim to please"! The indoor pub/restaurant on the lower level next to the dock was pleasant and offered good food and quick service.

Prior to our departure, I donned mask, fins/snorkel to inspect our running gear. Noticing my activity, Susan immediately offered the names of two local divers in case any work was needed.

In short, we would go back to this marina. The dock fees are a bit more expensive than average, but are justified by the superb service and quality of the facilities.

Honest staff !!!, 2014-06-28
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (40)

Visited in June 2014 and unknowingly left my wallet at the restaurant. We departed the next day and only then did I discover that I could not find my wallet on my boat. Called the marina and no one had found it but I did leave my number in case someone did. The next day one of the employees Misha found it and gave me a very welcome phone call. We returned a couple days later to pick it up knowing all was safe. Kudos to the staff for honesty and follow through!!

Bathrooms Terribly Inadequate, 2014-02-15
Captain: , Ft. Myers (376)

The boaters men's bathroom has one urinal, one commode and one shower. Ladies has one shower and one commode. These are shared with the downstairs diners at Miller's. Aways a line and not clean.

Nice but expensive, 2014-01-26
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

Very nice new fixed docks. No cleats, so you tie to the posts. Marina staff was there to help us tie up. Washrooms were clean and modern. But it is expensive. $3.00 per foot, with no BoatUS discount, and it is exposed to north and east wind and waves.

Good stop but not at low tide, 2014-01-25
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (30)

Marina is nice and food was good. We left at low tide and hit something hard just in front of the face dock with a 5.5ft draft. Do not go here with out tide! Other than that I would give it 5 stars.

entrance can be tricky, 2014-01-13
Captain: , Racine Wisconsin (161)

Enjoyed our stay but dinged props on the way out. Low tide north wind OUCH. We draw 4 ft.

Helpful Staff, 2013-11-07
Captain: , Hernando Beach, FL (184)

Made it in just before a huge storm broke loose. Staff was very helpful and friendly even though their bread and butter seems to be large fishers, not sailboats. A bit pricey, but that's Boca Grande. Clean showers well maintained docks.

Great Marina, 2013-05-07
Captain: , East Greenwich RI (504)

No Pool which is a disappointment for $2.75 a foot. Boca Grande is expensive but it is first class. Overnight dockage guest can rent a golf cart for half price ($50) and it opens many possibilities to explore this lovely island. We are staying two days. Dinner at the marina restaurant was very good and priced reasonably. Staff here are fantastic !!Take a walk down to the other marina and you will appreciate what you have her for twice the price!!!

Worth the premium price , 2013-05-03
Captain: , Jupiter, Fl (151)

Very nice, small marina on a great island. Fantastic supply of fishing guides and access to Gasparilla, which is the best, most intelligently developed island on the west coast. Great restaurants, shops, and sporting facilities. Will come back.

Convenient to Town, 2013-05-02
Captain: , Sarasota (110)

Late April, 2013 overnight. Patient and helpful dockhand, Parker, guided us in on the VHF....several turns but well marked. The marina is not easy to see unitl the final turn. Limited facilities. No pool. Price to ammenities ratio not a good as some others (e.g., Palm Island). We didn't realize there was an upstaris (and up-class) reataurant until it was too late. Okay bar food downstaris. After, we walked into town (deserted at 7pm) and across the Island to the Gulf beach (active with sun-set watchers). We met longtime permenant residents who gave us a ride (and tour) in their golf cart back to the marine.

Limited Spot but Good, 2013-04-21
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

Not a large marina . It can only handle a limited number of transients. However, the dock staff is exceptional and the restaraunt there is very good (eat upstairs). Only negative is that they want you to check out and the office closes at 5 so if you miss that window then you have to wait until 8 the next morning. Also, very hairy to get into due to shoaling. Hail the marina and they will talk you through this quite well.

Excellent marina and staff, 2013-04-03
Captain: , Anna Maria, FL (165)

This is a very well run marina with expert and helpful dock staff. Site has bar and informal dining on bottom level and more upscale restaurant up stairs. Ship store good and source for ice and golf carts. The town is nice and makes this a marina to stay several nights. During season advanced reservations are a must.

Outstanding staff. Nifty town., 2013-03-04
Captain: , Bristol, Rhode Island (2664)

Very accommodating personnel. Somewhat upscale and worth it.

Great stop and wonderful staff, 2013-02-16
Captain: , Zanesville, Ohio (100)

We visited here on February 11, 2013. Great help on the docks as we had a tough wind and current. Listen well to the Harbor Master (a real gem by the way) and pass by green 7 a full boat length before you make your turn to the docks. Dock stern in. Not far from the downtown and the Banyon street so take a nice walk (they have golf carts if you want them). Sisters Restaurant (off premises) has a great Stromboli, Pizza and salads. The staff in the Ship's store, and Miller's Dockside Bar on the premises are so very helpful and the bartender just might be the most efficient we have ever seen! If you go to the downtown area, the shops close around 5 or 5:30. Very quaint town and a nice place to relax.

A real gem, 2013-01-28
Captain: , St Petersburg FL (110)

Small marina, call ahead, great restaurants, gracious, wonderful staff, cute town, Old Florida style, one of my favorites, $2.75/ft. Very well run marina. Harbormaster also a gem.

Nice Stop -- Quaint Island, 2012-12-28
Captain: , Tampa, Florida (223)

We stopped by for two nights on Xmas eve and Xmas itself. Very nice and helpful staff. The aproach is not 4 feet as some have indicated. It is more like 6.5 feet. We draw 5.5 feet and came through at +1 on tide chart and had 2.5 - 3 feet beneath us. There are no finger piers, so you disembark from the aft. The marina will provide steps up for your swim platform. Golf carts to explore the island are available for rent. They really are not necessary to get to the small commercial area, but you would need one to get to the 1890 lighthouse and mueseum at the soiuthern tip (worth a visit). Pink Elephant restaurant is a very short walk and is superb. The marina restaurant on site is excellant as well.

Very nice stop if you can get in., 2012-11-28
Captain: , Sarasota, Fl (168)

Trickey cut to arrive at with only a few slips. Busiest during Tarpon season. With very limited slips you'll want to call ahead if you intend to do more than fuel up. Food on-site is good and a walk into town to experience old Boca Grande is wonderful.

Much improved over '08, 2012-03-14
Captain: , Tampa (190)

The dock staff is first rate. The facilities are great. The convenience and location make this marina a must stop on the west coast of Florida. Ask the dock master for local knowledge before entering the channel.

Great stop, nice marina, 2012-02-28
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (778)

Boca Grande is a great place to stop for a visit. The maraina facilities are small, but, provide great service. Make your reservations early as this place fills up quick. Rent a golf cart and cruise the town or ride your bikes.

Nice stop., 2012-02-07
Captain: , Kingtston Ontario (273)

One of the more expensive marinas, + $20 pump out Ouch!! but the staff were very nice & very helpful. Main part of town was right outside the marina & fun to walk around. Rented a golf cart to see the ends of the Island. Docks were tight to get into but the staff made it easy.

Terrific Destination, 2011-11-16
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL. (251)

This is a great place to go. The marina itself is small but big on personal service. When you come in to dock there are many people to help with your lines. Baths are clean. Good restaurants on site as well as a ships store. Bring your bikes or rent a golf cart in order to enjoy the beautiful island.

Nice Destination, 2011-09-05
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (639)

We love this marina and come here at least twice per year. Bring your bikes - there is a bike trail N to S along the entire island. Go to the Lighthouse Museum and beach at the south end and stop at South Beach Restaurant for a nice meal. Town is "up-scale" and so are the residents. Boca Grande Marina is a great place to book a charter fishing boat/guide.

Boca Grande / Miller's Marina, 2011-03-27
Captain: , Port Dover ON Canada (65)

Very helpful dockside staff, including approach instructions around channel marker 7 (shoaling). Golf Cart rentals onsite. One Men's restroom (including shower) for marina *and* restaurant patrons is insufficient. We did not use the restaurant. We did use the one shore-side BBQ once it became free. The town is beautiful and quiet.

Fun Island, 2011-02-25
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (140)

Great restuarant on premises. Be aware that if you are a deep draft boat, you must request a slip that can handle your vessel. The slips that are along the seawall may have you sitting on the bottom

A pricey stop, but nice place, 2011-02-16
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach (276)

This place is the alter-ego of Whiddens Marina which is a few hundred feet past it. Where Whiddens is rustic old Florida, Boca Grande Marina is brand spanking new and so clean you could eat off the floor. The staff is very capable and the facilities are impecccable. You will however pay a premium for the slip, so come prepared.

One of our Favs!, 2011-01-28
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (944)

We have crusied the Gulf coastal waters for the past 5 years and always found Boca Grande Marina (and Boca Grande in general) One of our all time favorite spots. The marina itself is small but very nice. Friendly and helpful staff, good showers and head, adequate ships store, fuel and pumpout available. Rent a golf cart and tour all of Boca Grande. Visit the lighthouse museum, good shops in town and of course, terrific restaurants including one called South Beach -- great seafood, sunset, casual and fun right on the beach.

Friendly Marina, 2010-08-14
Captain: , Saint Petersburg (87)

Favorite stop off the gulf ICW. A short walk to town where you find great food at Temptations. Moderate to expensive, but worth it.

Very nice small Marina, 2010-01-19
Captain: , Friday Harbor, WA (490)

A great Marina. The staff was very friendly. We wanted to stay an extra few day, but they had a boat club arriving & moved us to the owners private dock. The restruant & bar is good. we stayed 5 days and enjoyed the town.

Great marina in a nice town, 2009-12-25
Captain: , Dallas, TX (726)

Spent the first part of Thanksgiving week there. Arrived on Saturday and had the only open slip. Monday-Wednesday had the place to ourselves. Rented a golf cart and toured the island found nice shops and public tennis courts. Staff very helpful, I never ask for help when leaving, but they immediately came out to help.

Friendly Place, 2009-11-21
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

Went for 3 days with club with 10 boats. Very helpful. Don't go if wind from NE.

Good place to visit, 2009-10-04
Captain: , Houma, LA (386)

We stayed here three nights in May 2009, and had a great time. The marina is centrally located to town, and the beach. The town is quaint and a great place to visit. Many good restaurants, shops, etc. within walking distance. The restaurant at the marina was also good. The marina staff was helpful, and golf carts are available to rent. The docks are wooden, but well kept. Depending on the crowd, you may have to take a slip with stern exit only, but it is worth the stop!

currently-to dredge fairway and marina through July

great weekend getaway, 2008-08-03
Captain: , ft myers beach (790)

we spent the weekend there. close to fishing spots in the pass. be sure to reserve golf cart with your slip so you can tour island and go to restaurants, etc "downtown." beaches are beautiul as well as the local homes, streets and more. very quaint. we used gas bbq's at the dock. there is a fairly pricey restuarant at the dock. ship's store with bait tackle and the usual. many of slips have no finger piers, so boarding can be difficult. overall a great experience.

Nice little expensive marina, 2008-01-21
Captain: , fairland (2653)

But it is the most uncomfortable place I have even been in a NE wind. No protectin from the waves at all. What a bouncy night.
