Reviews for Bluff House Beach Resort and Marina
Paradise Found!, 2016-06-27
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (20)

How does one describe paradise, or the most friendly & helpful people you've ever encountered, fabulous meals, impeccable surroundings, a manicured beach with fabulous beach bar, a marina & staff second to none - how? The Bluff House @ Green Turtle Cay, that is how! Over the past 3-years we have personally experienced this jewel of a marina/resort out perform what we first felt was excellent to something beyond, which keeps us coming back and missing it more when away! Funny, writing this review I had a passing thought that I am probably compromising our future ability to find favorable slippage at the Bluff House Beach Resort & Marina - well, if that is the case, then you also have found Paradise --- enjoy! Molly McIntosh (General Manager) & entire staff - simply awesome!!!

Very Quiet, 2016-06-20
Captain: , Chicago, IL (948)

At least it was quiet when we were there, all the activity was at GTC. Marvin was extrememly helpful in our dock assignment and helping us tie up. Docks are in good shape, however, as noted in other reviews sailboats and boats without cock pits could have access problems. Nice pool, plenty of lounge chairs, laundry room is clean but dryers do not dry, good food at the Ballyhoo, Beach Bar had a fish fry on Sunday. We were on the t-head with a 60' sail cat behind us so had to wait for some tide to depart.

Help when we needed it!, 2016-05-23
Captain: , Tampa, Fl. (20)

Excellent staff and helpful dock hands. We were struck by lightning a week earlier and needed dock space for repairs, they were very helpful with arranging the replacement parts and even discounted the dockage fees for the 4 weeks we were there. The restaurant food was very good and fairly priced. We will be back on our return.

DOCKAGE NOT AS QUOTED, 2016-05-21
Captain: , Marathon, FL (140)

We had reservations here, for a side tie, for a 44' Aquila powercat. When we got there, they only had stern in tie with no lateral finger pier to get off the yacht. Be sure and ask in advance about your slip! The Marina was much more open to the wind than Green Turtle. At $1.50 / ft and $0.65 kilowatt hour, it's a little cheaper. My first choice would be Green Turtle Marina, as all slips have at least a finger pier that is 10 to 12 feet, so if you carry your dink off the stern, these side finger piers are important! The road from BHBR&M is at the farthest end of the road from New Plymouth and between here and GTC it is in the worse condition on the island. BHBR&M had only a tenth the yachts as GTC, so consequently when we drove over there, not much was going on and the beach bar was closed. Very nice property, but not our number one choice.

We loved Bluff House!, 2016-05-06
Captain: , Michigan City, IN (728)

Date of stay: 3/29 to 4/9/16
We really enjoyed our time here. The office, bar, and dock staff were all great. We had our share of Turtle themed rum cocktails and many enjoyable meals at both the restaurant and the beach bar. During our stay, there was a situation back home that required notarizing and scanning documents. The office manager went above and beyond helping us take care of business. Because of her efforts, all went smoothly. The wifi was practically non-existent; we took it as sign to go exploring. The wifi is all that keeps this from a 5 star rating. We loved it here and hope to return.

Great Marina !, 2016-04-19
Captain: , Ottawa, ON. (80)

We stayed here a few days. The price was fair. The docks are not the best for a sailboat. We have a dinghy on davits so came in bow first. There is only a small finger dock to use off the bow. Marvin was there to help with our lines, he did a great job. Set us up to safely get off and on the boat. The rest of the staff are also outstanding, very friendly, helpful, nice to deal with. Great bar, happy hour, nice pool, very clean bathrooms. Food is excellent. Beautiful sandy beach. We have stayed in other marinas in the area, this now our favourite.

Nice place to relax, 2016-04-17
Captain: , Buffalo (832)

We took a mooring, then went in for their famous Sunday Fish Fry; we thought it starts at 1130, but actually it starts at 1500. We had a nice lunch, bought some cocktails and enjoyed the beach and a book. Then we went to dinner. We ordered the grilled fish, which turned out to be two small mangrove snappers in tin foil with peppers and onions, fish head and eyes, bones and pickings. Very tasty, but not what we expected as grilled fish.

Nice! But, off the beaten path, 2016-01-17
Captain: , Road Harbour - BVI (651)

We stayed here for 30 days over Christmas and New Years. In a nutshell, this is a wonderful resort property with top notch amenities. But, it is a little off the beaten path.

The Bluff House will negotiate rates, unlike their counterpart across White Sound. We stayed here because they offered us a great deal and we really wanted to stay still for a little while with the advantages of a marina. Because they offered us a good deal we were happy to spend money in their bar and restaurants.

The Bluff House has a good size fresh water pool. It is very clean and offers fantastic views of White Sound. The facility has two restaurants with really good food and daily specials. The Tranquil Turtle (bar and grill) is located a short walk away over the hilltop to the Sea of Abaco side. It has a spectacular beach and a deck over the sea. Views of sunsets from here are magnificent. Ballyhoo restaurant is located by the pool and office. Both restaurants were on off-season hours during our visit but their staggered hours of operation meant there was always something open.

The bathrooms offer private shower and toilet combinations and were very clean. It appears as they shower/bathrooms had been retiled in recent years. Everything was shiny and clean. And, cleaned daily.

The laundry is $5 per load for both washers and dryers. The equipment is well used and the dryers took two payments to get our clothes really dry.

We had some issues with the power. We are 220-240 vac. We are comfortable plugging into shore power voltages as high as 250 but our meter showed dock voltages ranged wildly at our slip. We noted occasions were the voltage read 269 volts and often hovered about 260. We did not run anything other than a battery charger due to this. Small 220 appliances were run from our on board inverter. This didn't pose any inconvenience for us since we didn't need heat or air conditioning. But, at other times of the year it would make the stay very uncomfortable.

Wi-Fi service was the best we have had in a long time. We got caught up on our Netflix list and enjoyed very fast browsing. It appears this has been a recent upgrade based on a previous post. We had no issues at all with the service.

For groceries and off-site restaurants, it is necessary to take the dinghy to New Plymouth where there is a public dock in town. The Green Turtle Club (on the other side of White Sound) has a small store with some limited grocery items.

This was our check in point for the Bahamas%u2019 customs and immigration. The officer came to our vessel for the check in eliminating the need to go into the New Plymouth office. The Bluff House office can arrange this for newly arriving vessels. But, be aware others have posted the official will not come out if not enough time is given for the process. It is about a 10 minute dinghy ride to New Plymouth and about a 30 minute ride by Golf Cart (on really bad roads).

Please note the holding for anchoring in White Sound is iffy, at best. We saw multiple boats drag as winds picked up over 20 knots. We witnessed this on multiple occasions. If you plan to anchor, consider this dock as a plan B. The marina will often apply your bar bill or restaurant charge to the slip fee. Ask them about specials they might have.

Wonderful stop! Incredibly friendly service., 2016-01-05
Captain: , Mayport Florida (292)

Stayed here 5 days riding out a strong cold front. Very nice marina facilities including a restaurant, 2 nice bars, and a refreshing pool. Fantastic prices at $1/foot, day three free if you stay for at least 3 days, along with reasonably priced metered water & electric. Dockmaster Andrew did a nice job getting us tied up securely in somewhat unorthodox docks. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Only downside was the painful clearing in process (no fault of the marina). The customs lady in New Plymouth refused to come to the marina so the only option was a long/wet dingy ride or a golf cart rental at $50. Too long to walk and no taxi service available. When I managed to finally get there by golf cart at 2pm, she closed the door in my face and told me to come back tomorrow. Claimed she had to catch the 3pm ferry. When I told her I was paying the $300 fee in cash, she suddenly gave me 10 minutes to fill out a stack of paperwork that I doubt she even read/checked. Once again, this is no fault of the marina however the location of the Bluff House leaves you at the furthest possible distance from the customs/downtown area. Something to be aware of if you plan to clear in at Green Turtle. A quick stop at Spanish Key to clear in would have been a lot easier and cheaper.

A nice stop along the way, 2015-08-05
Captain: , High Springs, FL (686)

We stayed a total of 3 nights broken up over a weeks time. Had a great chat with the owner and the staff was very helpful, even arranging a golf cart at the last minute for us. Unfortunately they were out of diesel fuel during our first night there but the little beach on the other side of the hill made up for it so we came back and enjoyed the location again.

Nice facility, 2015-07-20
Captain: , Lakeland (997)

We stayed here for a month in December, 2014, and a night in March, 2015. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The wifi was mediocre at best. The private beach across the hill was beautiful and inviting (although I think I was attacked by sand fleas while there). The food in the restaurant wasn't bad. There has been a lot of staffing turmoil and changes of management. If they can get some stability in management, this could be a superb spot.

Very nice marina, 2015-07-10
Captain: , Riviera Dunes Marina (60)

Without a doubt the cleanest bahtrooms of any marina we stayed in on this trip. Pool was nice, water clean and very nice restaraunts. WIFI was hit or miss on the boat even with a booster but they were working on an updated system. Took a tour of the island on a golf cart, well worth the $58 +/-. Nice place to visit and excellent beaches.

Very Nice!, 2015-06-08
Captain: , Traverse City, Mi (281)

We spent two nights here and really enjoyed it. Very helpful and friendly staff. The facility it very clean and well maintained. Be sure to walk over to the Tranquil Turtle Beach Bar and enjoy the view and a rum pnch or two! A very pleasant stay.

We love the Bluff House!, 2015-05-30
Captain: , Bay Point Marina, Marblehead, OH (180)

We had a great time at the Bluff House! These guys are great. They have a wonderful pool, bar, restaurant, dock, dock hands, staff! And then you go over the hill and go to the Tranquil Turtle Bar and have their fish fry on Sunday, beach, drinks (Tranquil Turtle, Gully Wash, Gumbay Smash) You can ding around or get a gulf cart and go to other bar & grills and restaurants on Green Turtle Cay too! We met many fun people there. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST! There is the best cook around: Dominic, THE DOM! Who is a great chef. I loved his cooking and was going to snatch him away! If you can, make sure you hit this stop on your tour in the Abacos!

Bluff House Beach resort & Marina, 2015-05-18
Captain: , Newport, R.I. (644)

Excellent service & thank you Andrew & Don for a pleasent 2 day stay!

Very good place to stay, 2015-04-17
Captain: , US East Coast (996)

We stayed here for couple of nights during our vacation in Abacos. Very friendly staff, good food in onsite restaurant. Good prices. Very nice beach on the other side. Would love to be back. Renting a gulf cards to explore the area and go to Plymouth was easy. But, if you can book in advance, it'll save the trouble during busy times.

Nice quiet spot with good ammenities, 2015-03-28
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

Stayed here on the buy two nights get one free deal. Friendly and accomodating staff. Nice clean facilities. You can rent a golf cart to go to town. Town is nice, but you need to hit the right days to find things open. The Bank is only open on Thursdays. Good wind protection. Our boat is a 27 foot Ranger Tug so for us docking was a bit difficult. The docks are stern or bow tie and are set up like diagonal parking, a bit odd, but it works.

Very nice place, 2015-03-01
Captain: , Quebec, Canada (268)

Peace and quiet. There was not much going on when we were there. The Wifi is a little unrealable but overall is great.

Good food. great views., 2014-11-09
Captain: , Palm Beach, FL (341)

We haven't stayed there. Normally we stay next door at the Green Turtle Club. But we often go up for dinner and a change of scenery. The food at the Jolly Rodger bistro is pretty good and the views are awesome.

The new Tranquil Turtle beach bar is a great place for a beverage or two in the evening!!

Very nice, scenic, 2014-09-09
Captain: , Wantagh NY (581)

Stayed a couple nights, very quiet marina, but the walk to the top where the restaurant is overlooking the bay was excellent, not cheap, but well worth it.

Better than Green Turtle Marina, 2014-05-29
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

We like the Bluff's a lot. Liked the pool and it's deck, two bars two nice restaurants. Excellent Dockmaster helping tie us up at the odd shaped docks .Most of the staff was good. The evening bartender at the Marina Bar needs some training in customer service and attitude. They close the bars at 9pm, say they stay open till the customers are served but the truth is the employees want to leave at 9, so they close at 9.
Grounds we'll keep, nice road to walk on. Can walk to town but a number of miles.
Fun to visit New Providence using your dingy or long ride or walk in a rented golf cart. Carts rented at Marina, $55/day, do not offer hourly rentals.
Water is city water, we did not use it but were told it was OK to drink.
No loner offer the Royal Marsh Harbor discount. Rate was $2.00/ft for a 41footer. The rate per ft goes down the longer u stay.
Scuba diving operation at Green Turtle.
Beautiful beach bar with dingy dock with boarding ladders in Abaco Sound.
Very clean and modern shower/bathrooms--no extra cost. Excellent laundry with many machines, not sure of cost.
Nice gift shop in office. Very good BTC cell service , we did not try the wifi which was available. BTC office in New Providence, several bars, hardware and grocery stores in New Providence.
Very protected harbor, no current or waves.
We will return to hang out and relax

Wonderful Spot to Tour Green Turtle Cay from, 2014-05-03
Captain: , Perry, Kansas (317)

Stayed here 26 and 27 April 2014. Getting into slip was tricky with the wind and slip arrangement. If you dock bow in, getting on and off boat can be tricky. Andrew, the dock man was very efficient at getting boats into slips and secured. Facility was first class.

Great Marina, 2014-05-01
Captain: , New Bern, NC (730)

We were anchored in the sound when a squall came up and we drug anchor. We called the marina and they were happy to accomadate us. We ended up staying here for 10 nights waiting on a weather window to cross to the states. The price is great ($0.75/ft for 3+ nights)and the dock hand Andrew is great. The only negative is the weak wifi connection. Green Turtle Club's signal is stronger than the Bluff's. Other than that, the facilities are great. Nice bathrooms and showers and laundry room.

Great Marina with good rates, 2014-04-18
Captain: , isle of Palms, Charleston, SC (31)

This is our second stop here on our way back to West End. The facilities are very clean and new. Terrific bar/restaurant by the Marina. Beautiful beach a short walk over the hill to the Sea of Abaco side with a waterfront bar that is only open for happy hour. Stay three nights and the slip rate drops to $.75/ft, water and electric is metered. There is internet connection but it's not very dependable. Easy dinghy ride to New Plymouth settlement.

Great Find in Bahamas, 2014-04-13
Captain: , Lighthouse Point Fla. (91)

Stayed 2 nights 04-08-2014. Very easy in and out. Great staff and dockmaster. A little gem. Unusual angle park docks took a little experimenting to attach lines but was fine once we figured it out. Everything upgraded. No better washrooms/showers anywhere. Beautiful pool, great rum punch, nice restaurant (Great steak night) good rate at .90/ft, .65/kwh and .20/gal. Rent a golf cart ($50) and tour the island to New Plymouth for provisions restaurants, museum etc. Will be back when in the area for a longer stay.

A great place to stay, 2014-04-10
Captain: , Hilton Head Island, SC (377)

We spent five nights there in April and, in spite of a minor medidical issue, had a great time. In fact, the owner and staff went out of their way to help me get the medical attention I needed STAT! Nobody could have asked for better service.

The place is comfortable and clean, the docks are like-new, the facilities are first-rate and the staff is friendly and helpful. It was easy to check in and hard to leave...but only because we felt so at-home.

The only area that could stand improvement is the condition of the dirt road between the Bluff House and the Green Turtle Cay Club and Marina which one must pass on the way to New Plymouth, the cute town on the opposite side of the island.

Don't miss the terrific fish fry on the beach on Sunday afternoons or the steak night on Tuesdays if you're there either or both of those days.

Lost reservation, 2014-03-25
Captain: , Annapolis (40)

We were on a mooring in Black Sound, and needed to move to White Sound so that we could leave early (need high tide to enter/leave Black Sound) so called Bluff House to make a reservation, which they took. When we arrived, they had no record of the reservation, nor any room, nor any apparent interest in accommodating us. Green Turtle Club had room, so we took a slip there. Not sure how to confirm your reservation, but I suggest you do so before assuming you have a slip.

Great Marina with very super people, 2014-02-12
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (80)

The only reason this marina doesn't rate a 5 is that the fuel dock is not active. Great place otherwise. A very special place for cruisers with that super Bahamian hospitality

Great Visit!, 2014-01-22
Captain: , New Bern NC (120)

The "eat your dockage" is a nice promotion. The showers are a notch above even the nicest. The only issues we experienced are common at all Bahamian marinas...electrical power can blip temporarily, fixed docks are difficult for vertically challanged people (my wife) at low tide. We did bump while in the White Sound channel and we draw 5 feet! The deeper spot was 10 feet to my right. If you have a deep draft, consider coming in at near high tide.

Great place to stop, 2014-01-17
Captain: , Baltimore (62)

This was our first stop in the Abacos after our crossing and a great place to decompress/check-in. The marina staff will call Bahamian customs for you and if they aren't too busy will meet you at the marina to purchase your cruising permit. We were able to obtain a years cruising/fishing permit, but only a 90 day Bahamian visa.

Our "eat your slip fee" rate was $1.25 a foot and a great deal. The slips are unusual in that they are angled and have no finger piers. Bow in seemed to work best to get on and off the boat, especially at high and low tide (the piers are fixed).

For maintenance needs Sunset marine provided great repair service. They were on board within 15 minutes of calling and able to diagnose and repair a bad starter quickly.

We will be back.

Best Deal in the Abacos, 2014-01-12
Captain: , Mayport, FL, USA (317)

We agree with prior reviews. Going beyond that, the deals they offer on slip fees are outstanding:
a) "Eat Your Slip fees" poses a slip fee at USD 1.50/ft/d, but meals taken in the restaurant result in a dollar for dollar reduction in slip fees. If you spend enough, your slip is free.
b) "No Deal" slip fees are USD 0.90/ft/d. Very good price in the Abacos (or anywhere else these days).
c) "Royal Marsh Harbor Yacht Club Discount Rate" slip fees are USD 0.50/ft/d. No kidding! See rmhyc.com/ for details on discounts throughout the Abacos.

Friendly Staff, 2013-07-20
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (420)

I have been coming here since 1986. The new owners have done much to once again make this a great place to stay. The staff is friendly and accomodating and the facilities are first rate. The new beach bar is a welcome addition.

Nice Marina and Staff, 2013-07-13
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (35)

We brought our yacht group here for a week and had a wonderful time. Claudia, the assistant manager was extremely responsive is setting up for our group. We had a wonderful party at the new Tranquil Turtle Bar which featured their outstanding ribs! We will return often!

Five stars it is, 2013-05-23
Captain: , Sandusky Oh (615)

We docked here going south and again on the way back to the states
The staff is great the Jolly Rodger bar and restaurant is really nice. The food is good and very well presented without a long wait.
Restrooms and showers were five star quality
They just opened a new beach side bar and the beach is also very cozy and good to swim from in shallow clear water.

Great Place, 2013-05-13
Captain: , Ft Myers, Fl (60)

Marked channel entrance narrow. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean. Great Bar. Strong BTC & WiMax signals. Okay wifi. Fixed docks but good condition. Great wind protection. Rent a golf cart to go into New Plymouth

Great marina, 2013-05-08
Captain: , Corpus Christi,Tx (1569)

We spent a week and just loved it. The rest rooms are spotless, the dock well maintained, and all of the staff is extremely helpful. Happy hour each day at the pool bar and the beach bar is open on the week ends. Food is excellent and the drinks are good. We will be back! The only downside is that the finger piers are short.

Reasonable rates, 2013-02-19
Captain: , Annapolis,Maryland (40)

We took our 21' beam cat here for Valentines Dinner (26'wide cat slips available). Docking $1.50ft is deducted from your food and beverage bill at the facility! Stays 3+ days are half price plus some other discounts. We waited out a 40knt front at the well protected marina.Food was great, happy hour at two bars (Kalik on tap). good staff. Help when docking and departing.

Welcome all, 2013-02-02
Captain: , Salem, MA (372)

They welcome all. We anchored out and used their dingy dock. They just opened their new bar on the west shore. Very nice happy hour.

5 stars now, 2012-11-23
Captain: , Toronto (80)

We stayed here on thanksgiving. Showers have been re-done and are first rate. Restaurant was very good , staff are very accommodating , we will be back

should be five stars, 2012-07-08
Captain: , ft myers beach (790)

I would rate this as five stars if the heads and showers had been redone. We were late coming in the first day and they kept kitchen open for us. Front desk staff and dock staff absolutely the best. Andrew at the dock in particular. Will be back and hopefully the heads will be new. golf cart to New Plymouth a must. Drinks at Sundowners with locals a must.

New owners doing a great job! (continuing to improve - June 2012), 2012-06-26
Captain: , Hammock Beach, FL (203)

Update: June 2012 - improvements continue from last year: new chef, new general manager, 8 new condos about to open that overlook Sea of Abaco, etc. Even Kalik on draft! :)

We stayed here in late July-11 and were very impressed with the new owners (Ian & Stacy). They are very customer focused and 'hands on' as they overhaul the operation and renovate the facilities. They provided a level of service & attention rarely seen in the Bahamas.

Good protected marina, 2012-06-20
Captain: , Orlando (224)

We stayed here 3 different times during a month long trip to the Abacos. The docks are configured differently from most marinas in that they are angled. It makes tying up a little different, but not necessarily difficult. The power boats were mostly stern to, sailboats bow in. I did not witness anyone having a hard time boarding their boats. The office staff is friendly, the dock hands are adequate. Very informal feel around the pool and bar/resturant compared to the Green Turtle Club across the sound. Did not use the restrooms or showers. This would be a great place to wait out some bad weather in that White Sound is well protected from all sides. (The first night we were there a bunch of sailboats that were anchored out in the harbor moved to the marina to ride out a few stormy days.) Fun place. I'd go back.

Nice folks and a good review, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Halifax NS (52)

Nice marina with mostly piling and small area to disembark from boat. Staff are excellent and very helpful. As of today rates are 90 cents a ft first three days then 75 cents. Also have a dock and dine special for 1.75 a ft where everything you eat and drink at the restaurant is put towards your dockage fee. Also the first 100 gallons of water are free. The washrooms are still a work in progress from the hurricane but still usable and clean. Beautiful spot and a nice little pool to cool off in.

a bit of a work in process, 2012-04-01
Captain: , Utica, Ohio (245)

There's lots to like here - dockage rates, nice pool, greeat bar and restaurant, scenery, very friendly staff and a great private beach a short walk over the hill.

On the other hand, the restroom/showers, while plentiful, are not very clean, only half of the showers seem to work, toilet seats missing etc. The docks are designed for power boats and don't work very well for sailboats. Laundry is poor.

Other than the docks, the other negatives are all a work in progress as the owners try to upgrade and rebuild from the hurricane last year.

I will be interested to see how far they've come in a year or two.

Great place to stay, 2012-03-27
Captain: , Greenville TX (580)

There are no finger docks so at low or high tide it's a challenge getting on and off the sailboat. Other than that, it's a great place - good restaurant and nice staff. It's a lot cheaper than Green Turtle Marina too. It's under new management right now, and some services are off and on - wifi was off last week, cable is to be up and running 'soon'. We'll come back here for sure.

Love appling dockage to bar bill, 2012-03-15

Great stay!, 2012-01-17

We recently stayed at The Bluff House due to electrical probelms. Ian was so helpful! We just got our boat & this was our shakedown cruise so we had no idea why the system was not charging. First he came on board with a tester to troubleshoot the problem & figured out that a breaker was tripped. Then he phoned around to find an electrician to come to the boat. We loved the food for dockage deal! The restaurant serves delicious meals so it's no sacrifice to eat there. We were stuck here 4 days waiting to cross The Whale & hardly minded even! We totally recommend staying here. Captain Hans

Give Stacy and Ian a hand, 2011-11-30

Stayed here four days in November,as this is thechosen destination of the Bahamas fleet of ARC's Caribbean 1500. Ian and Stacy are the brand new owners, and got knocked for a loop by Hurricane Irene. The place is lovely with an elegant casual feel. As mentioned, the beautiful Ipe docks are designed for easy boarding of powerboats, stern in. Sailors have to be creative getting off and on. Jolly Roger Bistro and Bar has a good menu of tasty dishes and the service is friendly. We are not "Resort Marina" sailors, but if golf, tennis and good dining is your aim, Bluff House may be for you. Post Irene issues persist with power and internet and the new owners will be repairing and upgrading the facilities as quickly as possible. They offer Boat US discounts and crediting your meals tab may be negotiable agains your full rate docking.

We planned to stay here 1 night to sit out a blow and ended up staying 3 nights! Our lunch (very nice) was free for the price of dockage. Nice pool, sandy beach and of course a nice bar. The staff were great!

New Ownership, true to their word., 2011-07-29
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1134)

New owners are true to their word. We were staying at the Green Turtle Club when Ian Phillips, one of the new owners of Bluff House, came by to apologise for the actions of the prior owner. We had been promised a complimantary lunch which had not happened. Ian asked us to come over and he would honor the commitment. We did and were treated like royalty. The food was good and Ian's new signiture desert, deepfried ice cream was delicious.

Sometime in June new owners will take possesion of the property. They plan to invest substantial dollars upgrading the infastructure and including new residential buildings. From my discussion with one of them, the goal will be to retain the charm, but make it nicer.
The staff go out of their way to make one's stay enjoyable and fun. Food is good. Docks are in good shape and the power is solid.
Well worth a visit!

Another well run marina making Green Turtle a favorite stop., 2011-03-31

Docks are well constructed of teak and easy to access. They appear forbidding at first as they are constructed differrently than many. They angle out from the central pier and are excellent for a large fishing boat to back into. After that its up to you to figure out how to best tie up to get off. Very nice bar and restaurant with pool, showers and great deck all overlooking the lagoon. On the back side of thet hill behind, there is a private beach on the Sea of Abaco. At the top of the hill there is a very large restaurant used mainly for special occassions. The gift shop on premise is very nice. The staff are well trained and very curteous. This would be my first choice in the future.

Great Place and Great Service, 2011-02-24
Captain: , Panama City, Florida (511)

We stayed here for a couple days and did the dock and dine thing. They allow you to deduct your slip fees from anything you eat or drink at the restaraunt or bar. The food was good and everyone here went out of their way to help. Good showers, laundromat, nice pool and deck. The docks are also nice, but set up more for powerboats than sailboats. They were out of fuel when we were there with no plans to get any in the near future. We were told that they marina might be sold soon.

We opted for the "docking for dollars" for our 2-night stay and had two excellent dinners at the Jolly Roger; filled our water tanks with free water before departing (100 gal. limit). This is a beautiful, well-maintained facility -- but the docks have no finger piers(!). No wifi at present but free access should be up and running in Jan. 2010.

Bluff House Marina, 2009-07-29
Captain: , Daytona Beach (340)

Very nice Marina. Last minute choice to go in due to lack of space to anchor in White Sound. Overall facility is good, first 100 gallons of water is included in dockage. Resturant at Marina is OK, more of a sandwich place.

Resturant on top of hill used to be a great place for "fine dining" now closed and in disrepair.
