Approach

Watch out for the occasionally strong current. Stay to the right (east side) near the bulkhead and let your boat drift westward. This is the opposite of what you might expect because Clear Lake drains from west to east out into Galveston Bay. Watch for ripples on the water surface to see if the current is present. The attendent says most first-timers at the dock hit it pretty hard. Be prepared and come in slowly.

Reviews for Blue Marlin Fuel Dock
Great Little Fuel dock, 2016-11-22
Captain: , Houston (10)

The guys are very helpful and on top of their game. They will help with your docklines and make sure you make a clean get away.

Fuel Dock / Store, 2016-08-12
Captain: , San Leon, Texas (246)

The price of diesel on 8/11/16 is $2.75

This is the only fuel available in the Kemah/Seabrook Channel. When trying to dock make sure that you watch the wind and which way the tide is running. The prevailing S/E wind and an incomming tide can push you hard against the dock. The fuel dock is now owned by one of the yacht broker companies and the staff has been helpful in docking the boats and helping you get off in strong winds and current. The price changes with the current market and was $4.25 a gallon for diesel on 4-5-2011. They sell ValvTect fuel. They have build an outside deck over the water with chairs, unbrellas and will be selling frozen Adult beverages to enjoy.

Good fuel dock and store, 2015-11-30
Captain: , Naples, Fl (171)

the tie up is alongside dock in canal. The pilings have good protection. Personnel is helpfull. The store has all you need for a day on the water, plus the basic maintenance stuff. The price is fair as well.

Fair deal for fuel, 2014-05-28
Captain: , Kemah, Tx (143)

The facility is nice. The workers helpful in docking. The price is fair. Just your average fuel dock.

REALLY Easy, nice and new!, 2012-07-02
Captain: , Oklahoma (209)

Just took on fuel here a couple of days ago. The place looks great! It was easy to get tied up. Accomodated our 6 foot draft with no concern. VERY friendly person helped us tie up and the place was super clean. They've got all new covers over all the pilings and walk ways to keep the scuffs off your boat. Diesel was $3.96 per gallon on June 30th... fwiw....

Nice fuel dock - Has Reopened as of 5/14/2012, 2012-05-14
Captain: , Houston, TX (1409)

Various fuels, live bait, well stocked store. Easily accessible.

3 Amigos fuel, 2012-03-14
Captain: , Clear Lake Shores (135)

Update: Someone is doing work on the facility and a sign is up saying the fuel dock will reopen soon.

Excellent service and help docking the boat. They offered only $0.05/gal discount for 200 gallons.

Closing due to Lost Lease, 2012-02-22
Captain: , San Leon, Texas (119)

I called them today as I had heard that they were closing. Nick said they only have some Diesel left, and they should be closed completely in a couple of days as they lost their lease. They are looking for another location in Clear Lake

good guys here, 2011-09-12
Captain: , Freeport, tx (100)

This isn't the only choice in the area for fuel, there are two others, only one other for sailboats over at South Shore. The dock guys are a great help at getting you secured. The store has what you need but expect to pay more. I've never had a bad experience here.

with no option...you gotta go here, 2011-08-13
Captain: , Kemah, TX (519)

I've never liked a situation where there is only one choice for any service...but I guess the worse option is NO option! I try to get my gas ashore, but for another $0.50 per gallon I guess it's not THAT bad. Still...beer is high, ice is high, food is slim in choices...I wish it were better, but still use it all the time.

Unfriendly Fuel Dock, 2010-08-24
Captain: , Clear Lake Shores (29)

Services vary every time you stop, very inconsistant.

Fuel Dock, 2009-07-17
Captain: , Parker, CO (301)

This is the only fuel dock at this end of the lake. When I stopped for fuel the staff was friendly and helpful but they had a lot of trouble getting the pumps to work. They are still recovering from hurricane Ike. Pumps on the Clear Lake channel side of the dock are not working at all. Go to the dock in the marina inlet. Fuel price seems a bit higher than marinas in the Galveston area. I paid $3.05 for diesel on 12 July 09. There is little room to turn your boat before/after fueling.
