Reviews for Blind River Marine Park
Nice Facility - Poorly Managed, 2017-07-30
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4257)

Crew of nice kids meet us at the dock, but they had no idea of how to handle a line. Smart kids just lacking training. No one told us where to register, which was not at the obvious dock building at the service dock.

Very nice marina building onshore, about 1/4 mile from the transient dock. Lounge is now off limits for boaters, available to groups to rent. The head have combo locks, but the laundry has a key lock and is locked long before sunset. We saw a number people walking back from the laundry in the evening with dirty clothes, disappointed that they could not access the laundry.

When registering for the slip, no information about the marina or town was offered.

The dock building at the service dock has no means of payment, so the boater or staff member mush walk/run up to the office in the marina building - inconvenient and time comsuming. Made for boats waiting at idle off the docks for a turn to fuel or pumpout.

Grocery does not open until 9am, the bakery at 10 am. Plan your provisioning in the afternoon before you leave.

Nice marina, very helpful staff, 2016-09-14
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (2206)

8-11-16 We stayed here two days to wait out bad weather. The staff was very helpful. The floating docks are in great shape, and the restrooms very clean. There is a marine store close to the marina with limited inventory. It is quite a walk to town, with couple of bars, and a bakery...the fresh bread was very good.

nice stop, pretty biking, 2016-08-02
Captain: , Hallowell, Maine (240)

Every thing was good, the staff, the facilities. They have bikes if you don't. We especially enjoyed biking the Boom Town trails nearby. They are a bit bumpy - gravelly rathert han paved, but fun. You can bike to a lovely secluded beach.

Nice place to stay, 2016-07-30
Captain: , Austin, TX (877)

2nd stay 2016
Darrel, dock master was very helpful with several of our boat problems. Marina is a very nice facility. Convenient onsite restaurant with good food. In town 17 Restaurant was a nice treat, homemade pies, breads and tasty main dishes. Owners came and took 17 Loopers to the restaurant. Worth a visit. Call the restaurant and they will come pick you up!!
Staff was helpful, used laundry facility, 4washers and dryers. Showers were clean. Call ahead to reserve t head for easier tie up. Picked Wild raspberries on break water rocks. Did not try marina cafe or walk to town. Several boats filled up with gas, working on diesel install today.

July 24, 2016. Quite a good marina for a remote location. good services. Friendly, helpful. good wifi. Good laundry. Cafe at dock with basic menu.

Comfortable stop before crossing to USA, 2016-07-03
Captain: , Naples, FL (682)

This is a handy place to wait for suitable weather to cross over to USA. We stayed here on 01 July 2016 Canada Day and the marina was the centre of the town's celebrations concluding with fireworks at dusk (2215 local time).
The marina is in good shape with functional if average heads/shower facilities in the locker room style. The laundry had four washers and four driers but we didn't use them. The slip we were asigned was on the first dock past the marina entrance and a long way from the heads/showeres/laundry. Even so, the wifi signal on our outer dock was excellent.
The staff were prompt in answering comms (phone and VHF) and were efficient in helping with lines during a windy docking. We didn't venture downtown.

great service, 2015-09-08
Captain: , Catawba Island Ohio (530)

The gentleman that greeted us at the dock couldn't have been more efficient or friendly. The docks are well protected floaters in good condition but no longer new. The shower/restroom facilitys. are very clean and more than adequate, but also not new. If you like to bike the Boomtown trails are nice to explore. We found a very nice beach to spend the afternoon on. They are well marked and the marina had maps. Marina had nice laundry with 4 washers and 4 dryers. Cafe at marina was closed when we were there but we hear it is ran by Monique who runs the very highly rated restaurant, 'Moniques' in town according to this site and trip adviser.

Old but part of the charm, 2015-08-09
Captain: , Pittsburgh (523)

The marina is far from new and compared to Michigan facilities somewhat outdated. The staff are great and very helpful and the shower block although old, is serviceable. Certainly worth a visit.

Darrell is still the Harbor Master!, 2015-04-19
Captain: , The Med (453)

I slammed into the marina in the summer of 04. A thru hull had let go and a gale was blowing. Bounced a few times during the approach. As i was tieing up the last line to the guest dock, Darrell came aboard, dove below and all I saw of him was his derriere as he tackled the thru hull. The hospitality at the marina and in the sweet, sweet town (a helathy walk away) inticed me from my intent of sailing from Traverse City to Maine. Stayed in the North Channel all summer and used the marina often. A welcome respite.

Super Internet! , 2014-08-30
Captain: , Grand Haven, Michigan (230)

Strongest internet signal we have ever had in a marina! And we are finishing up the loop, that's saying something. It reached the boat and was very fast. The restrooms were clean. The town is a mile walk, we ate at the Iron Horse/Mustangs it was alright, it was bingo night also (wed) kinda fun! Came in from the East vs South with no trouble

Blind River Marina, 2014-08-12
Captain: , St. Joseph Island, Ontario (189)

Great location-onshore summer breezes are welcome.Very friendly and helpful staff-there is no better than Darrel. Nice town close by with everything you'll need. Facility is well maintained and clean

Will be 5 star once they get the fuel going, 2014-08-09
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

Well protected slips. Fixed wooden docks, with both 50 and 30 amp power. Lots of places to tie so it's easy to get the position you want.

Clean bath houses. Drinkable water on the docks. Pump outs are $11.

Try to go on Thursdays, they have a concert in the park from 7-8. We went to Moniques, just past the Value-mart and beer store. Super food, great service. If you though 17 was the best food in Canada, Moniques will rachet that up. Remeber there are loaner bikes, so everything is an easy ride.

We met 3 boats worth of local boaters. They were super nice on directions, history of Blind River, etc.

OK stop on way back to USA, 2014-08-04
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (1176)

Good floating docks & friendly staff. Good breakwater to protect from waves. Cafe on site. Not much going on in town, plus it's a bit far. Pier 17 is an excellent restaurant with great prices. Probably the best food I've had in Canada. Need bikes or a taxi to get there

Great service and friendly staff, 2014-07-30
Captain: , Traverse City, MI (10)

Great marina with full amenities. Free bicycles to shopping. Access to repair facilities. Fuel, pump-out, ice, power, water, and excellent staff. Low water can be a problem for deep draft boats. Water level at the time of this writing is 7.2 feet at mouth of marina.

Blind River Marine Park, 2014-07-20
Captain: , Leamington, Ontario (710)

Great facility. Clean washrooms/showers. Great restaurant right on site. Bit of a hike to groceries/beer.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff.

Update July fuel available, washrooms not as clean as they once were, docks require some maintenance, ie hammer down nail head protruding above boards. Facility has suffered since we were last here 3 years ago.

Blind River Marina - Nice Place to Stay, 2014-07-12
Captain: , Bronte Outer Harbour, Oakville, Ontario (137)

Excellent service and assistance when coming into dock. Everyone very friendly. Docks are in excellent condition. Very well maintained washrooms & showers. Walk into town is about 20 minutes but we needed the exercise after spending so much time on the boat. They have bikes available if you prefer to ride into town. Lots of restaurants, liquor & beer store. What else could you ask for?

A Nice Marina, 2014-07-08
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fl (838)

A good place to get out of wind and weather. Very nice lounge and facilities. Small cafe that sells hamburgers, etc. Nice park to walk the dogs. It you are on the dock opposite the breakwater, it is a long walk to the restrooms.

Blind River Marina, 2014-07-02
Captain: , Port Franks (176)

A nice facility and a relief to get easily into when the West wind blew up the North Channel. We took the dinghy to the beach closer to town for supplies. There was a better place to pull up inside the breakwall. Next time...

Nice facility but lots of bugs, 2013-07-16
Captain: , Cheboygan (426)

Nice facilities, community room with TV, womens'' facilties very generous, lots of picnic tables around and very good harbormaster.
Lots of tall grasses in the water and mosquitos. Loons and other songbirds pleasant to hear.

Nice Marina but far from town, 2013-07-13
Captain: , Portage Indiana (503)

We spent a couple nights here in 2012 and found the facilities to be nice and staff friendly. Town is a bit of a hike but the marina does offer the use of bikes to get what you need from town. There is a small marine shop up the hill from marina. If you need to provision Gore Bay or Little Current are better choices.

Good marina but a walk to town, 2012-08-28
Captain: , LeClaire, Iowa (449)

We left our boat in Blind River for four days while we took our daughter back to catch a flight from Toronto, using a combination of Greyhound Bus, Taxi, and rental car. Worked out a deal to get one night free if stayed four. The marina has great laundry facilities and a helpful staff. They had a boaters lounge but it was closed when we were there. Blind River is about a 1 mile walk and has restaurants, a grocery store, a Tim Horton's where the Greyhound bus stops, and a Beer store and LCBO. This is a good stop to jump off for the U.S.

Helpful Staff let us tie up for a couple of hours for free, 2011-10-15
Captain: , Algonac, MI (1659)

We walked a mile or so into town to provision for our cruise.

good marina grounds, 2011-07-20
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Dock A has at least 8 feet at end. 50 amp available there. Long walk to baaths/laundry/town. Bikes at office make the town useable for eating and provisioning. Small town w/limited interest. Cafe on marina grounds.

Blind River, 2010-04-17
Captain: , Sarnia (141)

Nice friendly marina. Walk to town is a fair distance. Not much happening in town but for those of us cruising the north channel that usually does not matter! Deep draft boats be cautious - we draw 5 foot and in late summer 2009 we got in without problems but were eyes glued to the depth sounder doing so.

missing dockmaster Ron, 2009-08-25
Captain: , placida,fl (330)

Very clean, attractive facility. Young dock staff, missed the well-known dockmaster Ron. His contract not renewed because of budget problems. some locals are boycotting it in protest as told to me by custom agent in Drummond. Her family didn't go there this year

So Kay, 2009-08-13
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

Watch the charts comming in. Longer walk to town, not a lot there, but a place to wait for the cross over back to the States.
$1.50 a foot in 09

Letitia - Blind River, 2007-04-20
Captain: , Austin, Tx (1257)

Interesting town, fine marina. We got there when all the EMS groups (fire, police, CG, etc) were having an expo - great fun.

Water depth not great but we had no problems (4.5 - 49' LOA)

50 mile run from Drummond
