Reviews for Blanquart's Marina
Excellent home base, 2014-06-21
Captain: , Fort Collins, CO (492)

Helpful, friendly staff. Sometimes a little overburdened when it gets busy, but just smile and be patient. They do good work at reasonable prices and offer good advice. Store has good supply of boat needs and charts. Wifi is pretty spotty, and only one computer per boat will be set up by office.
Unfortunately, the VNF office in St Jean has closed. Get vignette online.
Easy train to Dijon ( 5 Euros for seniors, 1/2 hour) or bus ( 1.5 Euros, 1 hour +). Dijon has major shopping and tourist attractions, including medieval center. Many small restaurants on the Quay at St Jean in easy walking disrtance. Grocery an easy walk and bigger one and hardware about the sme distance in St Usage. Tourist office in town is very helpful and aides speak English. Many English speakers at the marina (Kiwi, Aussie, Brit, a few US). A number of British ex-pats live here full time and are helpful.
Blessing of the boats Festival in June. A few other functions from time to time. Easy access to Soanne, Petite Soanne or Burgandy Canal and all waterway connections.

Staff not as friendly or helpful as other reviewers stated., 2014-05-23
Captain: , Decize, France (1509)

Notwithstanding their friend Elaine's first review, we found the repair service and any help on maintenance completely lacking. They were supposedly very busy, but too busy to even talk to customers? Now that's too busy, but actually costs business in the long run.
They had no problem taking money for the berth and items in the chandlery, but hey, it takes 10 seconds to say, sorry, we're too busy to repair your boat.
On the positive side, pretty good chandlery for the middle of France, no Defender or West Marine, and sorely lacking in any major repair parts, but they are willing to let you use their address to order parts delivered to you at your boat from the online chandelries and Amazon.fr.

Spent 3 happy years with this marina as our base. Great vantage point for visiting Burgundy and Alsace. Safely left our boat there when we returned to the States during the summer and winter. In addition to winterizing our boat every year they performed a number of maintenance/repair tasks. Competent, professional, and trustworthy. In 2006 we left and headed down the Saone/Rhone to the Med.

Blanquart's Marina, 2012-03-13
Captain: , St. Jean de Losne, France - home Guelph,ON, Canada (7946)

This is a family run marina and repair facility. Very friendly both staff and other boaters in the marina.
Excellent work at reasonable prices with staff all long term employees.
Easy access from Canal de Bourgogne and the Saone River.
Marina is actually located in Saint Usage but most refer to the location as Saint Jean de Losne
Town is very pleasant and picturesque along the Soane River, there is an excellent book exchange for English readers at the Marina Museum in the town (Wed & Saturday mornings).
Very good shopping for provisioning.
There is a VNF office in town.
Excellent train connections
