Reviews for Blakely Island General Store and Marina
Off season visit, 2015-01-28
Captain: , Anacortes (10)

We visited on Sept 25, 2014 in our 53 Navigator. It was a bit tight but we made it. The only problem was that no one answered the radio or the phone to tell us where to moor even though we had a reservation. We found out that was because they were now closed for the season, which included all facilities at the marina including the office, store, and restaurant. The only thing not on "off season" was the moorage fees that were still on summer rates.

Fuel dock is troublesome on the outside., 2014-08-11
Captain: , Olympia, WA (141)

The outside of the fuel dock is completely exposed to all boat wakes from boats leaving the marina as well as transiting Peavine Pass. If you want to get fuel here go to the inside although I don't know if it is deep enough or has enough room to manuever for a boat with anything over a 3 foot draft.

Basic, but everything you need and very helpful, 2014-07-14
Captain: , Seattle (20)

Fuel dock (diesel and gas) with cc reader (like a gas station) open until 8 during the Summer. The outside of the dock can be exposed to wakes from vessel traffic through the pass; the inside of the dock is more protected. Can dock up to 2 hours for free.
At the head of the dock is a small market (open during the Summer only?) with ice, groceries that also sells fresh made sandwiches. A few tables/counter indoors, picnic tables outdoors with nice view of the pass entrance. Great lunch stop! Fairly nice public bathrooms and showers (4 quarters gets 4 minutes). Ben, the harbormaster is great, very helpful. Small marina; don't think it has a formal overnight guest dock, but a temp slip might be available. Be aware the entire island is private; you can't wander further inland than the dock and market.

Again, great lunch stop. We had soup, and sandwich. Locals were here planning to come in for dinner. Good stop friendly and good service. Worth the time to stop.

Hope they can keep it open, 2013-01-16

What a great find, I hope the island residents can keep the business open, especially the store. It was so quiet (off-season in mid-September) that it was scary how well I slept. Only minor complaint is: it would be nice to re-orient your wireless router so that we could connect from the marina.

Best Place... Gem of san Juans, 2011-11-22

Check this place out for great views. Lots of motorcycles driving everywhere and Airplanes coming in and out.

Blakey Island General Store and fuel, 2011-04-10
Captain: , Anacortes, WA (312)

Nice community. Can be windy at the fuel / guest dock. Seasonal store is closed in the off season. Very little to see or do in the off season. On-shore restrooms were unclean. Cruising guide books indicate the restaurant and general store are open between June and September. Very well protected moorage available...nice, small facility. Washers $1.50 for a large load. $1.00 / 15 minutes dryers.

2010 Season, 2010-03-13
Captain: , Blakely Island, WA (372)

As of 2009 (and again for 2010) the Blakely Island Store and Marina is being run by the homeowners association on the island. The store will be open weekends starting mid May, open full time starting Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day. Gas, diesel, transient moorage, ice, laundry, showers, espresso, ice cream, fresh donuts, hot dogs, limited groceries will be available. Great cabana on the water for parties and a nice beach in front. There is 5' of water in the channel at a 0' tide. Be advised that the current at the fuel float always runs opposite the current in Peavine Pass.

Not for walking and exploring, 2009-06-05
Captain: , Cowiche, WA (350)

The marina and small grounds are very well protected and clean. Great staff and facilities. Some food supplies available and good counter food and ice cream. The down side of this spot is there is absolutely no place to walk and explore. No beaches, trails or roads available to stretch your legs. The Island is privately owned and it is fenced with signage to discourage any exploring.

This small marina is excellent. The staff are friendly and knowledgable. The entrance is narrow but has good water depth. It is tight inside the entrance but it is protected from wind and current so it is not difficult to get to the assigned slip.

The donuts baked fresh every morning are wonderful. There was a line up each morning I was there to get fresh donuts right off the stove.

The only negative about this marina is the no tresspassing sign at the gate. You may not leave the marina grounds and walk on the island roads. It is all private property. My dog was very dissapointed she could not run in the large fields near the marina.

It is a great place to sit out rough water in Rosario Straits.
