Reviews for Black River Cheese Company Dinghy Dock
Black River Cheese Company, 2014-04-17
Captain: , Black River, Ontario, Canada (224)

Co-operatively owned and historic cheese factory. One of the few left still owned by local farmers. Lots of local farm products available.
Come on a hot day for an icecream cone. Delicious local chedder up to 8 yrs old.
When approaching the river mouth from the east be careful of shallow water over reef extending from north shore in front of my house and cottage. Deep approach is along high bluff along westerly shore.
Walk north a few hundred yards to Morrison Pt. Rd. and east for fresh organically grown Vegetables at Vickie's Veggies.

Update as of Spring 2014, Dock and boatramp have been removed by new management at the cheese factory. You can still land but now must scramble up the bank, not hard to do. Not trying to be judgemental but really p... off a lot of local people. Too bad.

Well worth the trip., 2012-08-15

We dinghied in from Waupoos Island where the boat was anchored. We arrived in Spetember and the river was quite weedy but certainly passable. We tied up to the dock at Black River Cheese company and wandered inside. The selection of cheese was impressive and we purchased a number of them to try (we weren't disappointed). Then an ice cream and off we went to Vickie's Veggies. The variety and quality of produce was fanatastic although we thought the "Artisan bread" was a little pricey. All in all it was a fun way to do a little shopping. The wildlife on the trip back was a great way to finish the afternoon.
