Reviews for Bimini Blue Water Resort
It's OK, but it is the Bahamas., 2017-06-27
Captain: , Apponaug R.I. (908)

Competent dock hand helped us tie up. Restroom/showers by the office are fair. No ventilation or fans. The restroom/showers by the pool are better. Cleanliness was OK. Of the 4 heads all had large industrial toilet paper rolls. Only 1 head had a dispensser. Pool looked nice. Internet is frustating at best. Most of the time people are sitting on the low stone wall outside the office to get internet. Some chairs would be nice. Lots of great social people.

Good Marina with great staff & security, 2017-04-19
Captain: , Pompano Beach, FL (190)

Have stayed at Blue Water many times, most recently for a week in April. Can't say enough good about dockmaster JR - he is a genuinly great guy who will help you with whatever you need. The docks are in good shape with nice rubber bumpers and they tie you up right so you don't touch the dock.

The location is good just down the road and near Big Game and Customs. They have the only fuel on North Bimini and Ice is available on site or next door at Sea Crest. They have grills and covered tables and the pool is a bonus. Nice cleaning table with light. They have security at night and a secure area to park your golf cart.

The dockage rate is the best in Bimini for a marina of this caliber. We stay for around $50/day for a 36' Tiara with power. Yeah the water is expensive and the bathrooms are a bit rough and yes if the island is busy the water pressure can be weak. If you tell them in the office they will switch over to cistern and the water pressure then is OK. Those bathrooms are cleaned every morning and checked again in the afternoon. On the weekends there is some loud music from the Island House bar up the street - you can hear it from the dock, but we can rarely hear it inside the boat

If you want to pay almost 2-3x more Big Game next door is very nice, but everytime we go I have been happy with Blue Water and they have been very accomodating.

Overall, The Best of the Rest, 2017-04-12
Captain: , Sandusky, OH (294)

We spent a month there and I was generally pleased with our stay. Can't say enough about JR, our dock master. He is the best I've seen in a long time. The docks are fine with good location of cleats. Water at .75/gal was a bit over the top. Pray for rain. Too expensive to wash the salt off your boat. Bathroom facilities were adequate but the water pressure is inconsistent. There is a fresh water pool next to the bathrooms which helps if you get soaped up and run out of water. Electric is reliable and consistent. Because of its location, Blue Water is out of the main current flow which helps when docking or departing. When approaching, look for the three pilings and the fuel dock. Hail on 16 and if no one answers, pull up to the fuel dock and ask for your dock assignment. Be aware, if you stay for a month, the monthly rate is quite a bit lower than the day rate but be aware, if you stay 29 days, they do not prorate. You will be charged the day rate for 29 days. Electric is $15 per day but under the monthly rate it is $200 total. Finally, if you stay for a day or a month, Blue Water is one of the friendliest marinas we've been in with very welcoming boater community.

Good but ..., 2017-04-05
Captain: , Kingston ON Canada (280)

Older but good docks. Dock staff very friendly although the same can not be said of inside staff. Showers ok unless water being used elsewhere and then it goes to a trickle. Wifi on docks very, very weak. Good location for town.

Excellent facility and location, RUDE staff, 2017-03-27
Captain: , Houston, TX (31)

Docked here for two nights. Docks in good shape. Showers as good as I would expect. Dock hands and security folks were quite friendly, but the ladies in the office were practically hostile! We had an issue with our generator, and wanted to use their water to re-prime it. It tasted like diesel fuel. Pretty close to Immigration (which is in Big Game Club). For $50 for the night and electricity, it was a good bargain for sure.

Older, but Safe and Secure, 2017-03-24
Captain: , Clearwater, FL (270)

Stayed 4 nights at Blue Water. Entered AliceTown harbor near low tide (0.2') yet there was current still flowing. Navigation to Blue Water straightforward and entry to marina docks good. Older facility, but good power even during storm last night. Pool was nice and beach access great. Diesel and gasoline in marina Other facilities, showers, etc so-so.

Unhelpful staff, 2017-02-22
Captain: , Austin, TX (52)

The marina is OK. The docks are in decent shape. I didn't use the power, but I noticed there are a limited number of pedestals. The bathrooms are below average cleanliness. The location is convenient in the south part of Alice town. What ruined the experience for me was the unhelpfulness of the front desk clerk. When I got there and went to check in with her, she told me to go to customs/immigration first. When I got to customs the were very surprised that I didn't already have the required forms as the marina is supposed to give them out. Still, I was able to get blanks from them and finish with customs. I then learned that I needed immigration forms that my crew needed to fill out and sign (again the marina was supposed to give them out). After I walk back to the marina and questioning the front desk clerk, she pulls the needed forms out from behind the counter. When I ask here why she didn't give them to me before, she says that she only had a few. The next day I went to a different marina and they immediately came out and asked if we needed forms. The take away, is that this marina is not even trying to help out their customers with is the standard of service in the area. I can not recommend these folks.

Good, simple, small marina - great staff.., 2017-02-03
Captain: , Milton, GA (322)

Bluewater staff was very friendly and helpful. Pricing for slip, water, and fuel was reasonable. I would have given 5 stars if the marina owners would upgrade the bathrooms/showers. We felt secure and safe with onsite security, particularly at night. Short walk to clear customs and immigration. We rented a golf cart for a day from Marina to tour the island. Short walks to grocery, laundromat, and restaurants.

Try another marina or another Island, 2016-12-25
Captain: , Bronte Harbor Oakville Ontario (203)

Came in Dec. 22 marina not to bad but the music in the area is very loud and starts at 10 pm and goes to 3am evry night. Walked by the crowd of people playing the music coming back from dinner. Some one threw his hat at me and demanded money. I don't think there are police in this area so be carful.

Great place to check in to the Bahamas, 2016-12-23
Captain: , Washington, NC (470)

Great place to check in to the Bahamas. Staff is great, reasonable prices at $1.00 a foot and $15.00 a day for 50 amp service. Restrooms are clean and the pool looked good. Can't say enough about the friendly service and close to Immigrations and customs.

Good marina, friendly people, 2016-12-22

Date: 2016-12-02

Captain: Conover, Key West

Stayed here 2 nights and would definitely come back. JR came out to help us dock and was very friendly and helpful. The restrooms and showers were clean although one toilet didn?t work. At $1/foot you can?t get any better!

Worst Marina experience ever - try soething else!, 2016-05-30
Captain: , Valletta (20)

We have been all over the world and have never had a such a bad experience.
Much (bad) to say - but worst was that we were requested to move the boat middle of the night and the new assignment was with insufficient draft. So ended up at an unsuitable external wodden dock which tore up our fenders. Finally they insisted on full payment and refused to chip in on damages to fenders.

Good People, Good Prices, Nice facilities, 2016-04-29
Captain: , Edmonton, AB (153)

The dock guys (JR) are wonderfull. The marina is clean with simple facilites that are perfect. I would rather have simple well kept facilities.

There is a decent small pool and multiple fish cleaning stations. WIFI can be had from most of the marina but can be spotty if on the end dock with boats in between. No worries as you can sit next to the building with your laptop. WIFI speed is more than decent, actually better than we got in Miami.

Frankly this is the best deal in Bimini and we will be back on our next passage.

Great Marina, reasonable prices, great service, 2016-03-31
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (20)

This is our second time here in two years. We would recommend the marina, and will come back. The staff is great. Bimini is a great place to check in from the USA.

Great Price, dog friendly with good service, 2016-03-28
Captain: , Sitka (142)

Docks are low which made getting on and off easy. $1/foot plus water and power. Place is a little dated but convenient to Alice Town. Didn't use the restrooms. Wifi was marginal. Dog friendly. We'll be back.

Stayed a Few Days, 2016-03-23
Captain: , El Dorado, CA (45)

Arrived at Blue Water Resort after crossing over from Biscayne Bay. First slip assigned to us appeared to be very tight quarters, so we backed out and docked in a larger spot. There were many open spaces.

Pluses: Staff were friendly, security, other cruisers were friendly with nightly Captain Hour for meet and greet. Proximity to beach. Had a pool.

Minuses: wifi was hit and miss. Closer to office seemed to work better. Bathrooms need updating and could have been cleaner. Pool not heated.

Overall, our stay was fine for the price. I deducted a point for the bathrooms. Tip: the bathrooms over by the pool were said to be cleaner by other cruisers.

Nice place to stay in Bimini, 2016-02-07
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1304)

Stayed here 4 years ago, and hasn't changed much except now there is a pool. The internet requires an extender and the water is expensive 75 cents a gallon, but the staff is helpful, the elctric works and the price is right. What can I say?

Quiet smooth and good, 2015-12-19
Captain: , US East Coast (610)

Waited out a northerly for a week here. Water was smooth with little current ( unlike Brown's and Weech's where boats were bobbing around like corks ). Facilities good with nice strong and hot showers. Internet ok but not too strong unless you sit up by the office or have a long range antenna ( we did ). I would stay here again.

Overall a good stop, 2015-06-08
Captain: , Traverse City, Mi (281)

We spent three days here after crossing over from the Keys. As stated by numerous others, JR does a great job getting you in and tied up. The price is right and the staff is great. Bathroooms/showers are "okay" - but, it the Bahamas!

Slow Wi-Fi, 2015-05-28
Captain: , Port Charlotte, FL (280)

Marina was nice with good Showers but Wi-Fi was very very slow unless you were sitting by the office. Outer slips are subject to more surge than the inter ones. Restraunants and stores within short walking distance.

Good marina at a good price, 2015-03-22
Captain: , Cocoa, FL (253)

The dockmaster JR is great. He got us docked with ease and gave us the customs rundown and paperwork. He is very friendly and professional.
Price is $1 a foot. Our boat is 39'7", put that on the check-in form so they rounded down and charged $39.
Marina offers desalinized water at $.75 a gallon.
Pool repair is complete and they were filling it with water when we left.
Showers/restrooms were dated but clean.
It's a short walk to customs and immigration.

Docks ok but facilities are a mess, 2015-03-18
Captain: , Southport, NC (523)

Slips are not too bad, but the restrooms are a mess. Toilets clogged, toilets with broken flush mechanisms, cracked tank tops, no towel racks, no toilet paper half of the time (bring a roll with you if you need to go bad, just in case).

Good place to stop in Bimini, 2015-03-15
Captain: , Carlyle, IL (364)

Tartan 42, 5' draft.
This was the first time we stopped here. We usually go to Brown's but we needed fuel so we decided to come to Blue Water. The fuel dock is easy access and there is no reason to worry about the quality of the fuel since it is used so frequently. We had a lot of trouble getting the fuel dock personnel on the radio and ended up just docking anyway. We spent a week on the outside of the T-head waiting out weather and it was a bit rough on the outside due to the 20-25kt winds out of the East. If you go to any of the marinas in this stretch, plan your entry and exit with slack tide! The currents here rip through and the slip entry requires being side-to the current. We have witnessed many people having difficulties and have had some ourselves.

The pool here is not available right now. They are doing major repairs. The wifi is very weak and you have to be right up by the office or have a wifi extender.

Ice is next door, groceries are plentiful and reasonable, the liquor store is across the street. Hardware store a walk up the road. Beaches are top-notch and shell hunting is great.

Best place to stop in Bimini, 2015-02-11
Captain: , Cleveland, OHio (421)

Have stopped her at Blue Water three times in the past 4 years, and every time is a great experience. The staff is very helpful, everthing is close by. Will continue to come every time we come to the Bahamas. It is a great way to start your Bahamas vacation

Blue Water is the best place to stop in Bimini. JR is a fabulous dockmaster, knows how to bring in your vessell in all types of weather conditions. One of our travelling companions could not reverse due to prop problems, but JR got him in with no damage.

Showers are fine. The WIFI is up outside the office. There is a very nice swimming pool.

The Dolphin Museum for a tour and history of Bimini by Audrey Saunders.

Must visits are Stuart's Conch Shack, about a 20 minute walk north and Nate's for bread, just past the Catholic church on the high road.

Bimini Blue Water Resort, 2015-02-11
Captain: , Leamington, Ontario (710)

Good water depth, friendly staff. Had to go sit outside office for wi-fi. Showers old but clean, wood docks, wear your shoes. Some narrow fairways, cheap at $1 per foot per day. I would return visit here. Close to just about everything. The boats here were much calmer at the dock than they were down at Brown's marina due to wave action.

Affordable and friendly, 2014-12-20
Captain: , Nederland, CO (410)

Very nice staff. Kinda small, but has everything we needed. Hot showers, decent internet, convenient to customs/immigration. Watch the shallow spot just to the northeast of the docks.

Stayed for a week waiting for weather, 2014-12-01
Captain: , Charleston (400)

We were here for a week waiting for the winds to stop blowing 20+ from the east. Everyone was nice. A buck a foot is hard to beat. The pool had been drained so we missed out on that. Showers were okay, nothing special. Wooden docks were a little iffy, especially when the wind is blowing your boat into them. Immigration and customs are a 2 minute walk, as well as pretty much everything else on the island. It's also worth noting that apparently Bimini customs is using 35 feet as the threshold for $150/$300 cruising permit. Everything I saw before leaving said it was 30 feet, however there were a few people at the marina over 30, but less than 35, that were only charged $150.

CJ's is good but overpriced, even for Bahamas. The Bakery has great breakfast and lunch. Corned beef and grits for breakfast, $2. Giant lunch, $8. Big Game is insanely priced, over 8 bucks for a rum drink.

Great Value, 2014-08-01
Captain: , Toronto (80)

We stayed for one night on our way to Freeport. Great rate $1.00 a foot! Clean pool! Washrooms were ok. BBQ area was good. Location is good.. walking distance to our favorite place the backery!!! Go there for breakfast $2.00 and a huge lunch for $6.00, also the famous BIMINI bread!!!
They helped with docking - sell fuel. We believe best value in Bimini.

Good position, 2014-04-08
Captain: , Bochum (318)

Docks in good shape and friendly personal. Electricity, water, pool, showers and heads available. Easy walking to all amenities. Ask for monthly rates.

Best place to fuel up, 2014-03-08
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (375)

Blue Water is a smaller facility with docks in need of repair. If you overnight here, be sure to walk to the top of the hill and have dinner in their restaurant.

average - would revisit, 2014-03-06
Captain: , Santa Cruz, CA (150)

Nothing fancy. Nice docks. Warm showers. Easy to clear in. Sounds great and all but the staff just wasn't too friendly.

Loved this place, 2014-01-23
Captain: , Annapolis (795)

Will echo the other reviewer about JR's dockmastering abilities. He know his marina and is skilled at getting boats in and out. Watch out for shallow water north of the fuel dock. Docks are wooden and in good repair. Bathhouses were sparkling clean. We will certainly return on our next trip to the Bahamas. By the way, do not eat at Capt Bob's next to the liquor store.

nice and clean marina /no pool, 2013-12-20
Captain: , mooney bay (136)

The marina was clean. But the tinny pool was out of order!! They said that they was doing paint work on it but it look like tha the pool need way more than paint... The beach is a 3 min walk from marina!

A little pricey, but a great facility, 2013-05-20
Captain: , Merritt Island, FL (372)

If you're looking to stay someplace as clean, well-organized and polished as a good marina back in the States, this is it. It's a bit on the pricey side and has a corporate feel about it. Definitely not a Mom and Pop operation. The restaurant has the best mahi sandwich I've ever had -- and I've had a LOT of mahi sandwiches. The pool area is great.

great stopover, 2013-02-27
Captain: , Kelso, Wa. (884)

Full service, great bread at Taste of Heaven just up the road, CJ's has the best conch, everything within walking distance. Whimpy wi-fi, metered water.

Best for the money, 2013-01-12
Captain: , Hurricane, WV (252)

At $1.00 a foot Bimini Blue Water is a good choice. We found the showers clean and functional. Wifi was ok but would not work from the tee docks. This is the only choice for fuel in Bimini. They water is more expense here but it's distilled, not reverse osmosis so it tastes better. Dock Master JR is the best in Bimini, office staff was competent.
Night staff, not so helpful. JR will steer you to what ever you need. If you want help tying up, give him a call on the VHF.

DATED INFO, 2012-12-30
Captain: , Hampton,VA (203)

Chose Bluewater over Brown's because they advertise (and listed here) that BW has both a pool and well regarded restaurant for the same price. OOPS! Neither the pool or adjacent restaurant have been in commission for some time and in typical island fashion, the people who work here have no info on their eventual opening. The price of water is also pretty high, at .60/gal and electrical is $15/day (there is no difference between 30/50 amps so use what you need!). Not all bad though, JR on the dock is extremely helpful and friendly and the marina is about mid-way between the immigration and customs offices...both about a 5 minute walk. Bathrooms are reasonably clean. Next visit, I'll confirm the pool/restaurant are open. If not, I'll probably go to Brown's which meters electrical and only charges .30/gal for water with the same docking price ($1.00/ft). BTW, as previously noted, WiFi from the hotel next door comes in just fine at the dock where I had to go to the marina office to get their signal (after having them enter the password...wouldn't let me know it!).

Good Transit Marina, 2012-12-06
Captain: , Road Town (537)

This is where we clear customs and spend 1 night. Very nice people and helpful with the tie up on the docks. Closer to Customs than Big Game and lower prices. Not sure I would want to hang around for weeks as it needs updating

Our "go to" place in Bimini, 2012-08-29
Captain: , Atlanta, GA (291)

This has always been our "go to" marina in Bimini. Things were getting a little run down last time I was there (2 years ago) but we've always enjoyed the location, staff, and facilities. We did Big Game Club last time and it looked like Bluewater was doing a good bit of improvement work.

Water??????, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Madeira Beach, FL (100)

Stayed 5 Days after crossing from Rodriguez Key. JR the Dock Master is great, the office, not so much. Went to take a shower twice, no water pressure. Told the office, "I'll tell someone about it" is what I was told. Great price $1 a foot, only $10 for electric (34') Customs and Immigration was a breeze. Tons of fly's and mosquito's, bring your deet.
A little disappointed with Alicetown, pretty run down, but be sure to visit the dolphin house and Robbies grocery. Would stay away from Coco plumb restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the people are extremly friendly, just seemed very poor.
Over all OK stay.

Hang Onto Your Wallet, 2012-04-17
Captain: , Kingston, ON (455)

Here's an interesting experience I feel compelled to share. I contacted BBWR to make a reservation and I asked for their monthly rate. For a 47' sailboat, I was quoted a price of $800.00 for the month which included electricity. We were planning on staying at least two weeks, so after doing the math, we booked for one month.
We stayed for 16 days. At checkout time, the woman behind the counter attempted to charge me the daily rate for 16 days ($1054.00). She advised me that they only offer monthly rates from Oct through to March.

I argued that I was quoted a monthly rate when I booked. She checked her files and confirmed that I had been booked at the monthly rate. Here's where it got interesting.

Her story then changed to, in order to take advantage of the monthly rate, I would have to stay for the entire month!
Trying to reason with this person (I'm sorry sir, it's company policy) was futile. I argued that if we stayed for the entire month, we'd be using their electricity, and showers thereby adding to the marina's operating cost. By leaving early, we were freeing up dock space thereby enabling the marina to generate additional income.
The situation got ugly before she relented. I paid the $800.00.
We will NOT be coming back.

Bimini Blue Water, 2012-03-26
Captain: , Houston (774)

NIce place. Dockage $1.00/ft. Electric $15.00/day. Water 60 cents/gal. WIFI is a one time $10 fee but does not work well especially of you are out at the end of the dock. Free but unsecured WIFI is availabe from the Sea Crest Motel next door. It is a much better quality and worked well at the end of the dock. The docks and the rest of the facility are well maintained. JR the dock master came out and helped tie up the boat.

March '12 - 5 days Great, 2012-03-25
Captain: , Fremantle, West Australia (1448)

Loved it. $1 a foot, elect $15 a day. Didn't use wifi. Clean, nice pool, dockmaster not there when we came in but he seems very helpful. Showers clean. Surroundings aid in bias here but one of the better places we have stayed.

A great spot to explore from, 2012-03-15
Captain: , PooleUK (1023)

Financially it is a bargain, unless you use a lot of water. The docks are secure, with our 7ft6 draft access was no problem. It is great fun to watch the sharks cruising by the boats whilst in clear water and on a sheltered dock. The power supply was ok 90% of the time, the WIFI did not work at all.

bait and switch, 2012-02-27
Captain: , Marathon, FL, USA (70)

We were quoted one rate for water and charged another, when I complained I was shown the dock agreement with the original price crossed out (with pencil) and another written in. Beautiful spot...

Only fuel dock on the north island, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

We have not stayed here, but there is easy in and out fuel (when they have it).

Nice spot to stop over, 2011-12-11
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (122)

We found it to be very nice as others have described with nice facilities and staff. The only thing I wanted to mention was radio communications were not possible until actually in the channel. On our crossing many boats attempted to raise them (including us) while still outside but could not until inside the channel...staff did not assign slip we simply picked one upon arrival. I'm not sure if this is SOP or what but just a heads up.

Great Spot, 2011-04-13
Captain: , Saint Petersburg (87)

Nice people, fixed wooden docks looked new to us. Pool off the dock, beach across the street. And $1 a foot.

Lovin it here, 2011-04-12
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

Great marina. Friendliest staff I have met in a while. Made to feel welcome and appreciated from the minute I entered the harbour. Staff there to assist in tie up before we got to the slip. Facility is older but very clean and maintained. Always someone on duty for your service. Great pool and access to local businesses. $1.00/ft/day plus $15 electric makes it affordable. Located a short 5 minute walk to friendly customs and immigration.

Great people and great location, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Palm Coast, FL (385)

Fuel dock has actually had fuel every time I've been there and the staff has always been excellent. Docks are a bit aged but still well maintained.

Still love the place!

Nice Marina, nice people, expensive water!, 2010-04-13
Captain: , Stuart, FL (426)

Great people, location and marina. Buildings are a little older but very well maintained. $1/ft plus $10 for electric. Water is expensive, but they have free showers, restrooms and a nice pool. Only two block from all the action and a couple of fun restaurants and bars nearby. Try Sherry's on the Beach for a great fresh lobster salad. The Blue Water Marina has a restaurant and bar called the Anchorage Dining Room that is pretty good also. If you walk out of the marina, turn right, about 1/4 mile on left is the Taste of Heaven or Almost Heaven Bakery. You have got to buy their bread! It is very, very good!

Okay Facility, Great Price, 2009-03-18
Captain: , Woodbridge, VA (137)

The heads are okay at best. Transient fee is $1/ft/day, less for extended stays. Somewhat secure in that someone is walking the docks. Beware of the Canadians! Just kidding, but 80+% of the boats were Canadain.

IT'S OLD BUT OK, 2008-06-11
