Reviews for Bert Jabin's Yacht Yard
Excellent Marina & Boatyard, 2016-10-14
Captain: , Westport CT (170)

Arrived here after hours, singlehanded with it blowing 30. Office had done a great job in putting me inthe travel lift floating docks...could not have been easier for a singlehander. Have always stayed in Spa Creek but Back creek was well protected and quiter. Uber was no problem to the supermarket down the street and was able to have Bayshore Marine service my engine.

Everything was spotless....will stop here again.

Best Working Marina We've Ever Seen, 2016-08-11
Captain: , Grand Rivers, KY (110)

Jabin's has no pool and lacks a few of the other amenities that a destination marina might have. But if you want to work on your boat or have work done, you'd be hard pressed to find a better yard anywhere.

We spent seven weeks here doing our own work and having work done by Seaside Boat Works, which is on premises, and we are thrilled.

Jabin's has every kind of lift and ample yard space. Yard and office staff are the best I've ever encountered--friendly, extremely competent and conscientious.

Seaside is one of many marine service businesses on premises. Ted Downey and his crew did shaft work (new drip less seals, line cutters, etc.) and a new bottom job for us and those were works of art. Ted is a major league talent in the boat world and the work and staff at Seaside were superb.

And, while this IS a working marina, it's the nicest one you're likely to find. Docks are pristine, Keith the harbor master and his guys are excellent, and all the facilities are among the best you'll find anywhere.

Finally, Jabin's is within walking or biking distance from chandlers, canvassers, and other suppliers, as well as from a number of good restaurants and stores. And Annapolis's downtown waterfront is a short dinghy ride away or a doable walk or bike ride.

We recommend Jabin's and Seaside very highly.

Not a destination marina, but a clean and well-run yard, 2016-05-28
Captain: , Hobe Sound, Florida (450)

We came here at the suggestion of the contractor we'd retained to repair our air conditioning system and got that accomplished and saw the Blue Angels show from a distance in the process. Stayed only one day. This is a very, very busy workiing yard with activities everywhere, yet the staff in the office and the slipholders on the dock were extremely friendly and helpful.

Full Service at this Marina, 2016-05-17
Captain: , Annapolis (371)

This is a very big marina with full service for everything. Many vendors on site for Engines, Masts, Rigging, Fiberglass and many other vendors right down Edgewood almost the next block away. More expensive than other marinas, but great service and this is a well run operation. They have many slips and dry storage on racks. Very convenient for smaller power boats. Call 15 minutes ahead and when you get there your boat is already splashed and waiting. We kept our center console here for two seasons. Easy access to Annapolis and nearby shopping. A short bike ride or walk to West Marine, Groceries, Fawcetts.

Watch your toes from the transit dock to the showers, 2015-12-17
Captain: , Charleston south carolina (90)

Be careful walking from the transit dock to the showers, they have a slight ramp ( for the fork lift drop in ) with about a 1-2 inch vertical "wall" if your not careful you will break a toe or fall, I would highly recommend the owners smooth out the side of this ramp and avoid accidents. Place is expensive and had a friend's mast removed and re-installed, They did not properly re-seal the electrical connections / deck penertration and rain water came in.

Good marina for provisioning, 2015-10-11
Captain: , Port Credit Yacht Club, Toronto (252)

The yard is the home of many service crews and up around 1 mile on Edgewood there is a really good Super Giant grocery store, Fawcett Marine, West Marine, liquor store plus a really good Seafood market down Bay Ridge heading toward town. Biking felt a little risky but worth the trip. Bert Jabin's has good facilities and there is a public dinghy dock just to the left of their service docks which is not part of their yard. Bert Jabin's does not offer a dinghy dock so don't go looking for one. We went into town by going over to Sixth Street which makes for a short walk to downtown Annapolis. We recommend going to Boatyard or O'Learys for seafood.

Excellent Yard - Great People, 2015-07-17
Captain: , Annapolis (262)

Have had 2 boats here over 30 years. Easy to work with. Flexible when you need it. Keep the piers well maintained. Outside contractors on site can handle most every repair / upgrade you need.

Excellent to keep the boat on the hard and to get 3rd parties to work on it, 2015-06-15
Captain: , Newport, RI (190)

This place is great. Nice folks to deal with. All services are by outside contractors. The yard does a great job hauling and splashing as promised.

Excellent Facility, 2015-05-23
Captain: , Toronto, Ontario, Canada (55)

I have kept my sailboat here for four years and I cant say enough good things about it. It is very professionally run with the Jabin family making constant capital improvements. Keith O'Brien is an excellent dockmaster, helpful, friendly and accomodating and the administrative staff the same. Rod Jabin sets a high standard and the people who work for him meet it.

Very Easy to work with and very professional, 2015-05-22
Captain: , Annapolis, Md (120)

We brought our boat to Jabin's Yard for a month to get some work done on her. The squeezed us in to the schedule, honored the haulout and spash days and times to the hour and were very helpful and accomodating. We are now actually considering a slip there.

We've actually moved our boat here. Cost a bit more than our last yard, BUT the staff is awesome, the Owner takes personal involvement and the yard has every service you could want. We're very happy here.

excellent yard and owner, 2015-02-15
Captain: , Annapolis (28)

I've known many people with slips in the yard. The owner is renown for being reasonable, friendly and accomodating. It is a working yard without a pool, or green space on site, but on the balance I've heard nothing but good things about customer relations.

Excellent Service Marina, 2014-10-23
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (60)

We stopped here during our exploration of the Chesapeake. This is a first class facility with a number of onsite contractors with every service need available. Eastport is a short dingy ride away and a water taxi is available for downtown Annapolis.

Full Service Yard, 2013-12-16
Captain: , Crockett (610)

You can get any type of work done here you want, you'll just have to pay for it!

We had our battery bank and charging system upgraded, by an outside contractor while on the dock. Bayside Marine is also a great place for engine work, parts and spares.

Good Location, 2013-10-15
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (728)

I agree with most of the previous reviews. However, a couple of points of information. The washers and driers are each $2.00, the lounge/restrooms and showers are heated and air conditioned. If you dock on Back Creek, you will be totally protected from wind in any direction. At $2.50 per foot and $6.00 per night for 30 amp service, it is an expensive place.

Most professional travel lift staff on the coast, 2013-10-09
Captain: , Annapolis (160)

Everytime I schedule a haul out here they have me out within 20 minutes of arrival. Some yards act as if they never hauled a boat and scare the hell out of me. You can truct these guys!

serviceable marina , 2013-10-06
Captain: , Bristol, RI (63)

Bathrooms very good with 2 washers & 2 dryers. small store and good repair facilities. Wish they monitored vhf so you need to call on a land line to make arrangements and during open hours dockhands will be there as you approach. Jabins is all the way to the end of the inlet with a red roof building. dockhands can leave it to the captain if you have your way to tie up.

Lots of slips but can be very tight for larger boats. They are good at helping you in. Jabins will provide a cell number of someone if you need assistance after hours.

It's all business..., 2013-03-05
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (476)

I'll confirm the other reviews, this is a fine facility and it's all business.
Yes, a working yard which is great for hauling and service. Restroom & laundry are VERY nice.

Expensive but 1st class, 2013-01-12
Captain: , Browns Cove, MD (402)

I needed to have some electrical repairs done and my contractor had access privileges to the marina. Yes, as others have said, it is expensive for a tie up, but the staff could not have been nicer and accommodating. I had a great experience with both the repairs and the yard. I think rating a 5 when prices are excessive is a stretch, but aside from cost, this was a first rate facility so I am not giving a low score just because they charge a lot.

Pleasant experience, 2012-10-19
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (90)

We found Bert Jabin's Yachtyard to be a well maintained Yachtyard. We have stayed here several times over the last three years for extended stays and always had a good experience with the dockmaster, Keith, and his crew. This is a working yachtyard with several independent contractors not a socially focused boaters marina. Within walking distance (1 mile) there is West Marine, Fawcett's and Giant foodstore, liquor stores and access to the Annapolis bus system and the water taxi to downtown Annapolis stops at Jabin's when called. Laundry oniste in clean bathhouse.

Overall good experience with access to facilities most boaters desire

Horrible!!!!, 2012-07-02
Captain: , Williamsburg, VA (200)

Stay away. Horrible staff! Horrible. You'll be sorry before you even get your boat tied up.

Good marina for boat work, 2011-11-09
Captain: , No real home port. Cruising. (320)

As stated previously, this is a working boat yard with multiple vendors on site. Had diesel valves adjusted the morning after I arrived with no previous reservation. (Bayshore Marine). Very accommodating. Dock is clean, staff helpful. Bath facilities are clean.

Very strict on dockage policy, 2011-10-19
Captain: , Annapolis (31)

Asked marina to tie up, with 33' sailboat, for 10 minutes to pick up item from a vendor (at the marina) and was quoted$40.00!!!

Welcome to Bert Jabins - no thanks.

Very friendly and helpful, 2011-10-06
Captain: , Mallets Bay, VT (96)

I brought my boat in to have a contractor do some light engine work. They charge by the day ($2.50/ft LOA), but will also do 1/2 day. We ran over 1/2 day by about 45 minutes and they only charged for 1/2 day. Very friendly people, all, and I would not hesitate to go back again. Heartily recommend them.

Great Yachtyard, not a marina., 2011-08-17
Captain: , Annapolis (795)

You can get a slip here, but this is not a place to stay. it is a place to haul your boat or have work done.

Great place to leave the boat, 2011-01-28
Captain: , Hampton, VA (2502)

I've delivered numerous boats to Annapolis from the Caribbean....all needing some work...why else wouldn't the owner do the deliver. Owners always chose this yard because of the large number of skilled contractors on site. I must say that when I picked up the owner's boats afterward, I wasn't disappointed. I'm pretty picky!

Pretty surprizing how far this is by road from downtown.

Hertz in Annapolis will always deliver rental cars!

Gold standard for working yards, 2010-11-05
Captain: , Rockland, ME (90)

Wow. The biggest problem I had wasn't trying to find someone to perform work, but choosing WHICH outfit to use. As another reviewer stated, Jabin's only rents space. Office staff was friendly & helpful making arrangements, & I was met at the dock by owner Rod Jabin. A bit of a hike for groceries, West & Fawcetts, but not too far. This is not a "resort marina" (pool, restaurant, ...), but the best place to get work done.

Outstanding Boat Yard, 2010-04-06
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (199)

Bert Jabin's Yacht yard only rents space. Owners may do their own work in the most convenient boat yard on the east coast or contract with many of the skilled vendors within walking distance. Very efficient haul & launch - they drive the travel lifts like sports cars. Very clean and spacious shoreside bathrooms with new (2010) washer and driers. I love this place for winter storage or summer haul-out. Pleasant personnel and published prices.

A Working Boatyard, 2009-07-03
Captain: , Yorktown, VA (79)

A very busy place, that you will hopefulyl come to only out on your own free will. All sorts of boat business call this pace home, or are just outisde the gates. Racing sailboats, and many other boats are stored here-- not your average field of dreams. Clean bathhouse, a nice convenience store for coffee and boating incidentals. The annapolis water taxi does pick up and drop off here on request, but call ahead. Fuel available on your way out of the creek.
