Captain: , Port Arthur, Tx (516)

arrived just before low tide made it in with 4' draft. waited for tide to rise before leaving in morning. Marina staff was very helpful with directions to slip and help tying boat up. lots of gators in marina and lots of small fishing boats. we arrived on Sunday evening people everywere. overall good spot for us

Great Stop for shallow draft boats, 2013-09-24

Im a trailer-sailor Looper and needed to pull my 26' boat out. This is a private yacht club that allows transcients. There was a big fishing tounament going on when I stopped here. They found me a spot, helped with docking all in the middle of preparing for the fishermen. You cannot find more helpful or nicer staff anywhere. The marina has very good security; to enter the property by road, you must be a guest or resident. The Grill has really good food with big portions. Even mornings are exciting here as I woke up to a couple gators watching the boats. This marina has a good boat ramp with no current that is easy to access. The Harbormaster help me load up by pulling my boat out of the water after I drove it onto the trailer. This is the first time I have had a marina help me load my boat up. Great place and helpful people!

However it was worth it.
Very friendly place and town is very near.
Laid back place.

Plowed a ditch coming in at high tide, 2010-10-28

I have a sailboat with a 5 ft draft and knew about the advertised 4.0 ft MLW depth over the bar at the entrance to the marina. With that in mind, I entered at 3.7 ft high tide thinking I had plenty of water but that was not the case. I was seeing 5.2 at the green and red day markers but only 3.9 once past those by the small guide stakes driven in the bottom in the marina. I could still power forward enough to reach the dock where I saw 5.2 ft at high tide. The dockmaster said the low water was due to a strong west wind that "blew the water out of the bay". Even allowiing for the effect of the wind (he said about a foot of tide), it's not 4.0 at MLW, at least not now. We're waiting for the next high tide to get out, hopefully.

Otherwise it's a nice marina with friendly staff and good docks, just not enough water for a sailboat.

Thoughtful Service, 2010-10-16

Called for a reservation and asked about proximity to rental car companies. Steve (dockmaster) said he or staff would drive us to rental car. Made the reservation and a couple of hours later Steve called. Wanted to let us know that he had called Hertz for us and they did have a car available. Since we were arriving on the weekend of the annual Wooden Boatbuilding event, he didn't want us to be unexpectedly stranded. This is a VERY big event for Georgetown, SC, and the town is overloaded for a couple of days.

Otherwise, the marina is as described by others. The bar and grill is open only on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this late in the season. Would have given 5 stars execpt the approach is ddefinitely only 4' at MLW.

We have been here for 2 months & will be staying 1 more before heading north. The staff are very friendly & helpful, & the grill is a great place with great food.

Nice stop halfway between Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Very quite, out from Georgetown. Rebuilt in last few years. Nice clean bathrooms. No nightlife and resturant only "in season".
