Closed, but Charlie still Dives and Tows, 2014-08-10
Captain: , Kittery, ME (200)

Although Beggars Wharf is gone, Charlie still runs a diving and towing operation. He is always helpful, friendly, and competent.

out of business, 2014-07-29
Captain: , Westport CT (83)

Now closed. Sadly. we always enjoyed this funky place

Only accepting transients for a week or more, 2013-06-19
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (2982)

Apparently he is closing after this year, and is only accepting business from those staying at least a week.

Good place for mooring in Rockland, 2012-09-19
Captain: , Scituate, MA (195)

Lowest price around for moorings. Charlie is also a tow captain and came out to get me when I needed Sea Tow help (no franchise in the area). A warm, funny guy who went out of his way to make sure I was taken care of. If you need help call him 207-691-3483.

Diamond in the Rough, 2012-07-16
Captain: , Cleveland, OHio (421)

First impression was a run down place. But after meeting Charlie and his family this is the place to go to that is real Maine, not some fancy yacht club joint. The morring are great, short distance to the dock and the clubhouse. Charlie fed us dinner on Sat night which is a first for us. Met his wife, two of their kids, and his mother and father in law. This is a family operation, and he make you feel part of his faamily.

Very helpful, 2011-09-08

Charlie gets five stars for his great help during Irene. If your looking for fancy accommodations on shore you'll be disappointed. However, with Irene on the way and a wedding out of state to attend, Charlie really came through for me and went above and beyond to include helping me secure my dinghy on shore and a ride to the airport for the rental car at no charge. I'll be using him again next time I'm looking for a mooring in Rockland!

Good moorings, 2009-10-25
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (5621)

This is a one man operation, run by Charlie and occasionally his mother. Although there is one long dock, I've never used it - always using the moorings which are the closest to shore of any in Rockland. He has moorings on both sides of the ferry channel (some rocking while the ferry passes by). The innermost moorings are actually the best. They were placed in a cut that had to be abandoned when ledge was encounted after digging a channel several hundred feet long. So Charlie got a mooring area that 's 14 feet deep and just yards off-shore. In the "clubhouse" he has a pool table and free internet access.
