Reviews for Beaver Island Marina
The Queen of no service, 2017-01-30

Beautiful island well worth the visit but stay at the municiple marina. Pat, the owner of B.I Marina could not have been more rude to us if she the facility is a dump.
The people running the clean, well cared for municlipal marina treat you like a long lost friend.

Family Owned, 2015-10-20
Captain: , Rockford, IL (614)

Beaver Island Marina is family owned and it shows. Staff was extremely helpful, but the place could use an influx of cash. The town was a very short walk and outstanding showing rich heritage. Groceries are available just across the road from the marina.

Beaver Island is really cool, Marina is a bite run down, 2015-09-23
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Definitely go to Beaver Island. Good bay to anchor in and two good Marinas. The Municipal Marina is better. This marina has rental cars. We had access to a car and toured the Island, not spectacular but recommended, take a step back in time.
The town is a half mile or so and has several decent restaurants and stores. Good Ice Cream!
Nice store nearby this Marina has essentials and beer and liquor. Good Kayaking in Bay.

This marina is way past its prime and the operators do not seem to care. docks are filthy and you need a step ladder to get on your boat. Bathrooms are scarey. When asked about the non-existent WiFi "after all we are on an island" as she casually flips through her Facebook pages.

Great people, facility is hurting, 2015-06-07
Captain: , LaSalle MI (597)

Needed to put on some fuel due to battlin head seas for seemingly ever on Lake MI, 5.35 for diesel at the fuel dock. The folks were very accomodating. Had to repair fuel hose before pumping. One boat at the docks which were in really rough shape. Looks like the economy of Beaver Island is hurting.

Easy in and out, 2015-03-30
Captain: , Beaver Island, MI (291)

First let me say I am based here. This marina is a small private family owned facility without the big bucks of mega-marinas or of state run. One needs to understand that early in the season there is often some work being done to repair docks from ice damage.
This is the only place on the island one can get engine (almost any mechanical) work done by a licensed mechanic. BTW a correction to an older review by another captain, they do not sell deisel, never have. They do however sell gas. There is no marine deisel on the island.
As of 2014 (and surely 2015) the water is high so the fixed wood docks will be low. Good news is the approach depth is over 6ft now and with local knowledge one could get in with 8ft draft.
Grocery store and a fantastic deli are right across the street. Marina also has rental cars.

Near food shopping and a great breakfast, 2014-08-21
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

Spent the night here. Helpful dock people. Marina manager knew all the places in town and made good recommendations.

Laundry is heavy duty washer / dryers so they took bigger than the average load.

10 minute walk to full service dinners. Across the street is a great place for breakfast / lunch. A small market is next door to that.

Given the low rates and facilities this would be my first choice.

friendly and helpful, 2014-08-17
Captain: , Glen Arbor, MI (101)

The facility is older and a bit rundown, but the people and location make up for it. This is a much quieter location than the Municipal marina but still an easy walk to the main village area. Rest rooms were clean and the showers have plenty of hot water.

stop if you get caught by rising waves, 2014-08-01
Captain: , Beaufort NC (500)

We ended up here for 3 days due to wind, waves and passing storms. Very small town however the bar has good draft beer and appetizers. A unique fur shop we enjoyed, a bike ride to the light house, a nice shed museum.

A Little early in the season, 2012-05-24
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (125)

I came here mid May 2012 and the Marina wasnt quite ready, although we were able to tie up for the night. They did not have gasoline (had diesel) no showers, and only the mens toilet was in operation. The marina did take me to the fuel station for no charge on the Island with my fuel cans and I was able to fill up for $5 a gallon. Not much to see, but It was a nice get away. A little run down, but for how secluded it is, It's a decent place.

Really friendly and helpful staff, 2011-09-21
Captain: , Channel Islands, California (1149)

We stayed here instead of the Muni marina. They have more services here and are right across the street from a great grocery store. The docks are great. Would have been nice to have wifi, but Verizon data works out here just fine.

Best protection in S/SE wind, 2011-07-24
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

OK facility with sturdy docks. Half day car rental available (reserve ahead) at office. Best food & best price is Stoney Acre Grill (call for pickup at marina).

Older Facilities, 2011-07-08
Captain: , Big Torch Key, FL (1970)

The facilities are older than the newly remodeled State marina, but the docks are sturdy and safe. Lower docks make it easier to get on or off smaller boats. Tucked in at the end of the bay gives it better protection form SE winds which can rile up the harbor. We have always found the owner to be polite and very appreciative of our business.

Poor alternative to muni, 2011-01-25
Captain: , Chicago IL (133)

This impression was from '06 season - the old woman running the place was rude and uncooperative - made us feel she was doing us a favor by renting us a slip - we were told the muni was worse but then found out the Muni had been renovated and this was its first "new" year - walked over there and it was beautiful! Wish we had stayed there (cheaper too). Rented a car (a must) and drove around the island "kingdom" - BEAUTIFUL - the stop at the lighthouse was memorable

Beaver Island Marina (Summer 2008), 2009-07-13
Captain: , St. Joseph, MI (814)

Very friendly and helpful people with a so-so facility. Convenient to the grocery store and restaurant. I would choose this marina over the Municipal any day.

Beaver Island Marina, 2009-06-07
Captain: , Clear Lake, TX (694)

Small older facility with fixed docks, 30 & 50 amp service, cable TV. Very nice people and walking distance to town. We took a rental car around the island (3 hours) and it was a throw back with dirt roads, lighthouses and wilderness. A real treat.
Well worth a relaxing stop. Restaurant picked us up for dinner.
Showers, day room & restrooms currently being renovated.
