Reviews for Beaufort Docks
9 Nov 2016 Stop, 2016-11-10
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (640)

Have stopped here before with a good experience. A bit disappointed this stop --- price and attitude were issues. Plenty of dock people that know their business but person talking to me on VHF talked fast and it was not clear to me where he wanted me to tie up. I ended up going back to channel and worked it out as current inside slip area was very stront -- no heads up from marina. The person on VHF was adamant on radio that it was my fault. Maybe it was -- at least a 50/50 chance -- but not a pleasant start to visit. They provided fuel at slip -- great service with helpful personnel. Their location is great. You can eat great food within a short walking distance and they have courtesy cars, but overall experience (radio talker, price and lack of full info) will cause me to pick another marina in future.

Expensive for what is and Noisly, 2016-10-29
Captain: , Salem Ma (560)

I felt that $2.55/ft is expensive and didn't include power. They do have a couple of 1970s station wagons for you to go to the store with.

Very noisely with a band playing till midnight so we couldn't even talk while inside our boat.

A few resturants and a bunch of tourist type shops along the strip.

They helped with a number for an auto supply store for some batteries I needed and the store even delivered them.

First Class Stop, 2016-09-14
Captain: , HOLLY RIDGE NC (120)

Pricey but great location. Right in the middle of town with shops and resturants all in walking distance. Current is Strong. Time your arrival and departure accordingly.

Top Notch Operation, 2016-08-25
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (280)

Great stay here for two nights. Dockhands very helpful getting you into the slip. Current wasn't nearly the issue I thought it would be. Tons of places to visit and eat at while here. There is diesel available at the docks but gasoline is not available here. WiFi strong and fast. Good AT&T signal as well. Looking forward to stopping here again.

Anchor in the yacht basin if you want quiet and no current or unwilling to pay the high price.

one of the best, 2016-06-11
Captain: , Daytona beach (60)

Came in a couple days ago after a 60hr run from Ponce Inlet. They were tight for space due to fishing tournament, but made room for us and even allowed us to stay three nights while the weather got better for a Hatteras run. I've stopped here on every run up and down the coast. Great staff, excellent location. A wonderful place to stop at.

Great location and staff, 2016-05-23
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (30)

We stopped here for two days so EMD could clean our fuel tanks. The dock staff was great and the location is right in the middle of town.

Fine but ridiculously expensive, 2016-05-07
Captain: , Annapolis MD (170)

We are a 64-foot boat who was charged $2.95/foot plus power a few days ago. We were on the far end of the long t-dock. It's a fine marina, with very helpful and a good location, and we appreciated access to the loaner cars, but there's also no security and limited trash receptacles. Much better value elsewhere. We also found the town to be very expensive, lots of $30 entree restaurants but few casual spots. Southport, NC and Georgetown SC were much more reasonable and generally nicer.

still a great spot, 2016-03-27
Captain: , Oriental, NC (110)

BJMcL 3-25-16 32 ft sailboat. Arrived on 3-25-16 in twenty knot winds and the dock hands quickly assisted in making the docking safe and secure. Facilities are rustic, clean and every thing works. Look forward to the next visit.

Center of Beaufort NC - The coolest town on the east coast, 2016-02-04
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (407)

The Active Captain profile says "offers special rates for those who want to winter over." I think that only applies to big fuel purchasers, not sailboats. They are 1/3 full now and won't be competitive with oterh area marinas.

This is on Front Street and Beaufort is the coolest town on the East Coast. The Beaudort Docks are the best place to access everything in the center of town. It's a great place to stay for a night or two, and longer, if you can afford it.

Nice Town - Convenient Marina, 2015-12-23
Captain: , Hampton, Virginia (226)

Stopped heading south for the night on December 7th. The marina is easy to access and in slip fueling was convenient. The Town right next to the docks is very charming and has several nice eateries and stores. The restaurant over the marina office was closed to the public that morning, but the owner had a group coming in and made us a fresh pot of coffee for free. He was great! The slip fees were a bit pricey at $3 a foot.

Very proctected, great floating docks, 2015-12-20
Captain: , Forked river nj (330)

Very cool stop along ICW. Downtown is right off the docks. Mutliple bars and great places to eat. Even has a convience store and shopping.

Good docks. Good Location, 2015-12-01
Captain: , South Freeport (750)

Called ahead and talked to Dock Master. Very cordial and helpful. Stayed several days.
Courtesy cars, helpful info, and they even printed out some digital info I needed to sign and mail.

Located in a very historic/shopping/tourist downtown.
Very reasonable bars and restaurants.

All the assistant dock masters were very competent and often very helpful, when asked. But several seemed to have a studied attitude of coolness that detracted from our feeling welcome. Would give higher rating if we felt more welcomed.

Ok for a night, 2015-11-24
Captain: , Hingham, MA (1079)

We were anchored out when the wind really picked up and there was not enough room in the anchorage to allow us to let out more scope. We started to drag, instead of trying to reset we chose to go to the dock (of course it was about 1 am). The bars are next to the docks and are quite loud with a band playing. When we went to see the dockmaster at 8 am the next morning, he had already billed us and told us to be out be 11 am or else we would get charged another day. I guess I was expecting him to be a bit more friendly but perhaps they often have people try to sneak in at night and leave without paying.
Bathroom was ok - I read somewhere these are new - no way!
Pump out is a project to get to.

GREAT STOP, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Daytona (410)

STAYED ONE NIGHT ON TRIP SOUTH. IT WAS A MONDAY OUT IF SEASON SO MANY IF THE SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS WERE CLOSED. MARINA WAS GREAT, EASY IN AND OUT WITH FUEL IN THE SLIP. NEXT TIME HERE WE WILL MAKE IT A MULTIPLE DAY STOP

Great location, 2015-10-18
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1134)

October 2015
Same comments. Always a nice place to visit. Dock master is particularly helpful and thoughtful. Loaner cars are available. Try Beaufort Grocery for dinner. Fuel price higher than many other North Carolina marinas. However fueling in ones slip is a nice convenience.

Docks are located on the main drag. Lots of restaurants, shops and activities just off the piers. Yachts are a tourist attraction. Great staff. They have all been there for years and know how to get you in a slip when the current is running. The marina was filling up with big sport fish boats for a major off shore fishing tournament.

Highly recommend. Would stay again., 2015-09-03
Captain: , Rochester, NY (100)

We spent 3 nights here during our southbound ICW trip. The location can't be beat. The staff are fantastic, very helpful (make sure you get your wooden nickels for free beer at the pub).

We came in during a storm and didn't find the current/tide to be overly bothersome (be aware, but not afraid).

The trip out of the ICW and into the Beaufort Docks was easy and well marked. Definately a great way to see this part of the coast and outer banks!

Week of fun!, 2015-08-18
Captain: , Mystic, CT (112)

We stayed here one week and enjoyed every minute of it.

Family spent a couple of days on the island across from the marina in search of wild horses (didn't see any). Nice beach there too.

Rented a car for the weekend and went to Atlantic Beach a couple of days. Clean well kept up.

The marina staff is great and always willing to help. Very accomodating with the wifi as well. I would definagtely stop here again on any trip north or south.

Restaurants and shops are across the street can't be beat. Food was awesome! Any mariner should make it a point to stop here!

A favorite., 2015-08-05
Captain: , Austin, Texas (140)

From the curmudgeonly helpful dock hands to the un-airconditioned but well ventilated showers to the tokens for a beer at the bar, this has to be one of our favorite marinas. It IS local color, and worth the stop.

Good docks, 2015-07-29
Captain: , Wrightsville Beach, NC (45)

We stopped on July 20 on the way to Jarrett Bay. The dock guys are very skilled and helpful. we were never able to connect to the wifi, even trying 4 different devices. We recommend The Grocery for a great meal, reservations recommended.

Best Waterfront Marina on East Coast I've Stayed, 2015-07-26
Captain: , Little River SC (395)

Great location and town. My only negative comment would be the non air conditioned restrooms. Otherwise this is a great destination!

Good location and great staff - but that's all, 2015-07-11
Captain: , Road Harbour - BVI (651)

In my opinion, I think the only good thing about this marina is the location and the staff. It is within the historic area. It is a good place to wait for a window to round Cape Hatteras when traveling north.

The staff watched us come down the channel and made sure we stayed in deep water. Two people helped to tie the lines. The currents were pretty strong but they will try to face you against the current when docking and offer good tips for dealing with the conditions.

We found the restrooms were not air conditioned. They were filthy! Years of soap scum and buildup lines the shower walls. There is not even a shelf to put toiletries on when using a wash basin.

The courtesy cars are very ragged out. I would question their roadworthiness. They are free. This is a case of getting what you pay for.

The electrical box was very wobbly. I thought it might fall over. The electrical connections seemed very corroded but we had no problems with power.

The wi-fi is fast and strong. However, we had to resign in every couple of hours. Not a big deal but a bit of a pain.

This marina charges a fortune to stay here. We had to pay $2.85 per foot + electric. This is place is not in the caliber of $3/ft/night marinas. Compared to $3/ft/night marinas this place is a dump!

Laundry is located nearby behind the General Store. It is not affiliated with the marina. The Laundry is closed on Sundays. There is about 10 washer and 10 driers. All were in good condition.

We ate in a couple of the local restaurants. They were OK but not great. At check in, were received two free drinks for the Dock House Restaurant and 10% off. We went to use this but changed our minds after looking inside the restaurant. It was disgustingly filthy! When going upstairs, don%u2019t use the hand rail. It looks like it was never cleaned. I dropped my sunglasses on the carpet and they were greasy when I pick them up. We opted to leave without the free drinks or food.

Next time through here we will save the money and stay at Moorehead City Portside Marina. It is an easier in and out and an Active Captain sponsor. We tried to stay this time but they were full. Beaufort township is small and offers very little.

Best Location to Tour Beaufort, 2015-06-30
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (270)

Marina located just a hundred yards from downtown main street of Beaufort, with several good restaurants, gift shops, antique shopes, nautical bookstore/charts. On arrival we were met by two dock hands to help with lines --- and they knew what they were doing! We stayed 3 nights.

Complimentary beer at the Dockside Restaurant; spacious, clean, ventilated showers; loaner cars for provisioning trips. Can fuel up right at your own slip, along with pump out and water supply without moving to another dock!

Kudos to Jeb and his staff Pete and Neil. We will be back.

Has it all a little pricy but worth it., 2015-04-29
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

$2.55/ft plus $12/day for 50amp. Courtesy cars, use free for an hr. Very clean restrooms, shower etc. Friendly helpful staff. Fuel and Pumpout right at your floating dock. Good water and power at 210v. Best location in Beaufort. Many good restaurants, try Aqua and Grocery Bistro both very very good . Several other very good restaurants right across from the Marina.
Great town for walking or biking. Piggly wiggly and very good Ace Hardware 2 miles. Lots of shopping right there. Can dingy in good weather to several parks and Moore Head City.
Wild horse right across from your dock!
If the weather is good spend a half day or more and visit Shackleford Banks, you'll need a faster dingy as it is 5 miles or so. The wild horse, unspoiled Barrier island, hike and beach are really special.

Great place to visit, 2015-01-26
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (370)

Expensive, but at least for us it's worth it. Good facilities, nice people, and a great little town right there.

Relocation trek, 2015-01-20
Captain: , delaware city, DE (80)

We arrived and must have looked like campers because we had everything, except the cars, on the yacht!! LONG days traveling south to new destination. Dock hands await on the dock and Neal, in the office was just sweet as could be. True southern hospitality from him with maps and advise regarding shopping for provisions and dining out. Thanks for the visit.

Nice place to stay, 2014-11-28
Captain: , Hampton (80)

We like this place. A bit busy on the street in season. Not a place for isolation. helpful staff. great local ambiance. lots of festaurants and supplies. Not a crowded as it used to be.

What Happens with Good Ol Boys in Charge, 2014-11-19
Captain: , Havre de Grace, MD (241)

Very polite older gentlemen seem to be in charge here, which explains a lot about this Marina. Docks are spread out along the N side of the inlet, with heads and pumpout only at the W end. Every thing is functional, but not so pretty or upscale (painted chip board paneling in heads, e.g.). Helpful with docking, pumpouts, fueling at each slip via long diesel hoses, local directions, etc. Adjust your expectations and enjoy the place.

Overpriced, 2014-11-11
Captain: , Kent Island, MD (392)

I love the town of Beaufort and wanted my wife to see it. I was right; she liked it too, and we had a fantastic dinner at the Grocery Store. $2.55 per foot plus electric is a steep price to pay for a municipal marina in NC! The facilities are a two block walk and nothing special, and the Dockmaster hours are 8AM till sunset, in November, come on man! We had very competent dock hands when we arrived but had to leave on our own and deal with the surge. Next time I will stay at the Moorehead City Yacht Basin.

Pleasant staff and Right in town, 2014-11-03
Captain: , Clayton, NY (645)

The staff was wonderful and there to assist as we were docking. The place is neat and clean, right in the middle of the town. The bathrooms are adequate. In my opinion it is a bit pricey in comparison to other places we have stayed that have more amenities.

Great staff and fantastic location, 2014-09-16
Captain: , Twin Dolphin Marina (271)

This is one of my favorite stops along the east coast. This marina is located right on the main strip in Beaufort and is surrounded by shops and restaurants. The staff are really helpful. In addition to giving you a hand getting in and out, they are a great source of local knowledge for food and navigation suggestions.

Some of the restaurants have live music in the evening, so if you are looking for a quite night, try docking on one of the outside slips.

Welcoming, Clean, Convenient, 2014-09-12
Captain: , New London, CT (80)

Stayed a night at Beaufort Docks on our way south, everyone was pleasant and helpful. Enjoyed walking the town after a refreshing, complimentary beverage offered by the Marina at the dockside bar. Would definitely stay again.

Great location to walk downtown Beaufort, 2014-08-24
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Arrived 7/12/2014 for a couple of days. Didn't need supplies, so can't comment on proximity to marina. We did thoroughly enjoy walking around the downtown area, beautifully landscaped along the water's edge promenade. Excellent staff with the skills to help navigate getting in and out during swift water times. I would advise arriving and departing at slack tide as current is quite swift through this area.

good experience, 2014-07-16
Captain: , iuka,ms (222)

helpful friendly employees..good floating docks..good wifi..great location..

Great little town, 2014-06-30
Captain: , Fernandina, FL (428)

Watch the current at the docks although experienced dock hands will help in and out. A little distance from boat slips to showers but facilities good. multiple loaner cars which you need for groceries, west marine, etc but not restaurants. If you want a treat, go to Aqua on Middle Alley behind Front street. Great food and wine list. Make a reservation.

Best on the ICW, 2014-05-29
Captain: , Beach Haven NJ (150)

Best stop on the ICW from Useppa Island FL to Beach Haven NJ - experienced dock hands, accomodating staff, easy water and fuel, and much to do nearby. Car (though not a Ferrari) for going to the store/West Marine. Blue Moon Cafe is a fine restaurant nearby.

Even in the winter a great place to go, 2014-05-28
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (995)

May 13, 2014. Always a stop. Always great dock crew. They fuel you whatever dock you are at. Great restaurants within walking distance. Wild horses across from the docks. Only problem in my opinion... No marine store in area. Currents can be strong.

Went there on 2/5/12. Only one other boat there and it was cold. Superbowl Sunday and only one place open on the water front. Only one person handling the docks and office (wonder why :) ) but was a great help as we docked and fueled up. Heading south be sure to check if Military is shutting down ICW. We got caught in a big Military exercise offshore on the way to Southport.

location location location, 2014-05-13
Captain: , Silverthorne, CO (373)

Pricey but great docks, never less than two dock hands to help you in (current can be tricky), courtesy cars, and two free beers. Beaufort is still a great stop. We were docked behind Dockside Restaurant. Appreciated the gentle music at 5 on a Friday, not so much the loud music till after midnight. You're definitely in the center of things here.

Gem of a city!, 2014-05-12
Captain: , North Palm Beach, FL (450)

Spent 3 nights here in early May/14 due to an electrical problem, found a nice marina and a great city. Enjoyed the museum, historic houses, cemetary, wild horses and especially the folks! We'll be back!

Perfect Location and great marina!, 2014-05-08
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (880)

This is a very nice marina in a great location in downtown Beaufort. Fuel is at every slip. Pump out at a separate dock. Docks in great condition. People are very friendly and informative. The Maritime Museum is only a few blocks away and well worth a visit. The courtesy car allows you to provision, go to a hardware store and other minor stops. Restaurants downtown are numerous with great menus from which to choose. Also several gift shops, ice cream, and a deli. We will return here for sure.

Great Marina and great location, 2014-05-03
Captain: , Key West, FL (115)

Welcomed into town with a very friendly and informative dockmaster. Had a free welcome drink after checkin followed by a free banana split from a lady who had just opened a new ice cream shop. Later had a great ribeye at Ribeyes, wonderful restaurant and met Mike the owner. Highly recommend the marina and the restaurant.

Courteous as well as professional dock staff., 2014-05-03
Captain: , Hampton, Virginia (10)

Consistent with a number of existing reviews, the dock staff were highlty competent but, in contrast to a number of prior reviews, we found them extremely courteous, helpful, and enthusiastic. We had direct contact with about four members of the staff and each one went out of his way to be helpful. Location is convenient for almost everything.

Convenient but expensive, 2014-04-14
Captain: , Gloucester, Virginia (100)

Great location on T dock at the foot of downtown. Staff very helpful. Loaned us a courtesy car. Had a great dinner at Front Street Cafe. There are two grocery/deli stores within walking distance--good if you need milk, bread, and gourmet items. Wine and beer also. We visited on Sunday; many stores and restaurants open.

Winter deal at the docks, 2013-12-31
Captain: , Saint Augustine (70)

I am taking advantage of the marinas' winter special. The floating docks are across the street form some nice eating establishments and pubs. Showers are nice, clean and absent of the sulfer smell of some coastal utilities. The slip I have is along the boardwalk which is a mixed blessing. The good side is the convience, the bad side is the tourists that stare, ask silly questions, even climb on the boat to take a pictures. ( Bless their hearts, they don't know any better). The Docks do have signs saying owners and guests only, but.... a gate would be nice.

Center of Action, 2013-12-16
Captain: , Crockett (610)

Stayed only for one night because of the price (only reason not to have 5 stars). Great folks on the dock and in the office. Location is perfect and there is a courtesy car for some provisioning.

Fabulous service with a smile, 2013-11-04
Captain: , PooleUK (933)

As with any harbour experience you get out what you put in.
The staff were fabulously helpfull, the facility was clean and very well presented, great shelter, hardly any wake from passing vessels and wonderfully quirky courtesy cars.
I would reccomend this marina to anyone. Ditto the town, which was an absolute charm.

Upon visiting again (still alongside) I feel compelled to draw attention to a recent review on Cruiser Net from Mr angry aboard Beach Hut.
It saddens me when someone with such a negative attitude completley misses the point of a location, and yes, I observed him all the way from the C & D Canal to Beaufort in fits and hysterics as he progressed. The marina does have a local laundry facility, far better than a single washer and dryer and a four hour que, there is a professional grade laundry service less than 100ft from the offices, The trash is kept away from the boaters by perhaps 15ft, nice and discrete by the car parks so as not to trouble us with fowl odours as we enjoy the views from the cockpit, or trip over the trash cans on the dock. The docks float, so yes they can be made to wobble, nothing new there, unless they are used to securing on industrial wharfs on a millpond.
The marina staff are excelent at ensuring a vessel is safe and secure before they dash off to the next vessel requiring their services, for note I would suggest handing the upstream "Brake" line before the downstream one that is pointless when coming alongside on a tidal flow, I always thought this was basic common sense, but apparently not!

One of the great charms of Beaufort City Docks is that the generally informed public can wander down to the boats and stop for a chat, I have met some truly wonderful people here and sincerly hope tha the marina experience is not diluted by fort knox type security gates!

I am surprised that they were upset by the marina rates, they can be obtained prior to arrival, and if you dont like them there are plenty of more expensive choices nearby, or you could anchor off and try to make use of facilities you are not entitled to!!

I hope that people are able to read through their negative experience and understand that they are a minority. I wish the operators of Beach House all the very best and hope that they one day find what they are looking for, until then I am happy just here.

Regards,
George

Captain: , Quoset Daviseville Naval Yacht Club (250)

Just like review below, location location.. Walk to NC Museum of Maritime History within one block, plenty of restaurants but eat before 6 PM on Sunday to Thursday or eat on your boat. Bathrooms a bit of a walk but very clean. Off season so everything closes at early, very historic and interesting town to visit.

4 Stars as this is a bit expensive for off season, diesel around 4.00 gallon, good moorings although we used docks and for one night on a 42 foot boat $113.00 per night.

Great staff that cannot do enough for you, everything in good condition. I do not believe laundry available but you will have to check.

From north on ICW be careful entering Beaufort Harbor, very tricky and sun was in our eyes giving us a difficult time. We used Moorehead City channel and circled Radio Island to avoid some shallow water and were much more confident in approach.

good docks, right in town, 2013-10-27
Captain: , essex (101)

Where can you have a slip on Main Street, get chips for (2) free beers, and have a courtsey car at your disposal? Get dock hands, and dockmaster. You need there courtsey car to get to the supermarket. There moorings provide protection from wind from any direction.

Great stop, 2013-10-26
Captain: , Pasadena,Maryland (510)

Convenient to downtown area. Museum nearby. Many resturants. Toilet/shower is OK, but not great. Dock hands were knowledable. Nice stop.

First Rate Dockage - Convenient to Downtown Restaurants/Bars, 2013-10-25

Right in the center of beautiful and scenic downtown Beaufort. Walking distance to many fine restaurants and bars.

Best boaters' town in North Carolina, 2013-10-22
Captain: , Beaufort NC (56)

Everyone complains about the tidal current. The current runs parallel to the slips and can be quite sporty. The staff will help with your lines, just ask.

My biggest complaint is that the shower building is still a dump even after the 2012 "renovations" You'd think a town that prides itself on service to boaters would have first class amenities.

Great Dock and great dock help, 2013-10-18
Captain: , Key West, FL (150)

We had 2 dock hands help us tie up and they were great. Very helpful. Also told us lots of info about the town (we were stuck for a few days for bad weather and waiting for a control panel for our bow thruster). Great town to tour on foot or bikes. Used one of the dock's courtesy cars to get supplies. Great stop and great docks, which are all for transients, by the way.

Service, Courtesy?, 2013-10-13
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (618)

The city is great. Guess we just had a bad experience with dock hands who were rude, impatient and just plan nasty. At $2.55 a ft plus $12 for electric you expect top quality service. This type of service really distracts from what could be a top notch facility.

Enjoyed our Time, 2013-10-11
Captain: , Bristol, RI (762)

Great location, right in town. Lovely place to stay before or after "popping out". Reasonable rates, fuel at your slip. Very helpful staff. All good.

Marina to Look Forward to, 2013-08-25
Captain: , Coral Gables, Fl (10)

I have been coming here for 15 years and look forward to the stop each time. This is an excellent marina with very friendly and helpful people. Two people will help you into the slip. There is fuel and pumpout avaiallable at the slip. Free wifi and very clean showers. Beaufort (pronounced Bowfort) itself is special. Directly across the street are numerous restaurants and small shops. Take your choice, good sea food, a good Mexican restaurant, reasonable steaks and a special small restaurant calle Aqua that is a delight. Last night there was live music we could enjoy from the boat. The town has numerous restored 1800 vintage houses and an interesting history. You can explore by dingy or on foot or simply relax. As someone else said 'what is not to like here.".

Great Location, 2013-08-15
Captain: , Oriental NC (209)

A bit tricky to get in and out of when the tide is running but a lot of helpful staff and boaters. Stayed Friday night of Pirate weekend and enjoyed the band and partying. Ask for a slip away from the music if that isn't your thing. Good facilities and floating docs. Beaufort has great shops and museums and some wonderful old houses.

Great stop on the way north. Fun small town and good facilities at the marina. Staff was great and very friendly. Worth the stop

Awesome Again, 2013-07-19
Captain: , Southport, NC (706)

My family wanted to come here again after staying at Cape Lookout. What a way to get refeshed. We brought our bikes this time and rode around the town. The Marina staff hasnt changed. Same experienced personnel. Two people came down to meet us and help me with lines. I've never seen that before. There is a good current during mid tide so its best to arrive at slack tides. The water was very clear with fish swimming around. Almost looks like an aquarium. The restuarant next to the marina had music every night. During the week it was relaxing to sit on the back of the boat listening to the sole guitarist. However, Friday night a full band played till 1:00am with a crowd cheering. That was enough to make us loose sleep. Just be aware during the week its great, during the weekend you might want to be far away from the restuarant. The marina stays clean and he courtesy cars are still running. We also had Kayaks that we paddled to see the wild horses across the channel. This place has everything. I hate to say it, but we will certainly be back next year.

Right In Town, 2013-06-30
Captain: , Beaufort, S.C. (570)

Beaufort Docks are convenient to the downtown area where we enjoyed eating out and browsing the shops. The town is quaint with lovely well cared for homes. As we arrived at the docks we were met by 2 dockhands who helped us quickly tie up and settle in for the night. Our spot on the face dock gave us a nice view of the passing boats and sunset. When we checked in we were given tokens for free beer or wine at the restaurant and we had excellent fried shrimp for our meal.

Beaufort Docks, 2013-06-11
Captain: , Newport, RI (230)

Made it here for music festival. Stayed one night. The docks are in good condition, however the facilities are a long long walk from the far end. Beaufort is a fun town and the dock is lined with restaurants and bars. You can re-fuel in your slip. Current can be sporty.

A Wonderful Town and Marina, 2013-06-07
Captain: , Key Largo (152)

Beaufort is one of those magic places that has it all ... friendly people, good restaurants, some nice shopping, attractive fuel pricing, an active harbor and very well run marina with knowedgeable staff. Even their special "loner" cars have great "character". One of those places that make a couple of days very work it and reminds you why you like cruising ...

Key West in North Carolina, 2013-05-12
Captain: , Hollywood, MD (271)

I think we got the last slip on Friday of the Music Festival and it was well worth the stop. With so many places to choose from in Beaufort and Morehead City it's hard to decide, but Beaufort Docks has the location. Plenty of shops, restaurants and sites to see. It would be nice to have showers a little closer, but that is the only downside I could mention. The dockhands offered spot on advice to get out of our slip against the current the next morning. They give you a "wooden nickle' drink token good at the Dockhouse Restaurant just to get you started. This is a town that knows how to have fun.

Great Stop, 2013-04-30
Captain: , Friday Harbor, WA (490)

The only negative is the docking during high currents. Try to arrive during a slack or close to slack

All the last few reviews are right on. Do not understand why this is not a 5 star location

Great location, 2013-03-29
Captain: , Stafford, VA (1063)

The town is easily accessible right across the street. While it's not all that big, there are very good restaurants, lots of shops to check out, and a nice museum. You should take the staff's directions when coming into your slip. They may be a bit brusque about it, but they're right in what they're directing you to do.

Convenient, Safe, Helpful, Historical, what's not to like, 2013-02-17
Captain: , PCola (40)

Left our boat here for a month. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. There can be a bit of current so they are a bit insistent on following their docking instructions...some folks have been put off by this...truth is they've seen more boats dock there than I so I listened and it worked out perfectly. The staff took some time to be a sounding board from some system troubleshooting I was doing. They have loaner vehicles. The showers were fine. Frankly I wish we could have stayed a bit longer and explored the waterfront some more.

Location, Location, Location, 2012-12-05
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (250)

First rate location, right across Front Street from the original CBD, floating docks, a promenade, a block away from the Maritime Museum, and close to many restaurants, but the dockhands had some major attitude workin'. I'm not sure I would come back.

Showers were fine. A long ways from our slip, but clean.

Nice town but pricey Marina, 2012-11-05
Captain: , YORKTOWN, VA (293)

Nice town to shop nad visit. But I was charged 2.75 a foot because they put me on a T-head! The charge would only have been 2.30 if they put in a slip. The staff is very experienced but nasty. There is only one way to dock a boat-there way.

Everything is great except...., 2012-10-27
Captain: , Eau Gallie, FL (339)

Stayed here on three separate occasions. The place is wonderful except for the price, and the dockhands. I've never met as rude and impatient a bunch as these, and they didn't change over three years. A shame as the facility is nice, the office staff is wonderful and the location is so neat. The cost would be much easier to swallow if the dock service was as proud as the price to stay. I'll be staying in Morehead City in the future.

USA Port of Entry, Expensive but FREE car!, 2012-09-20
Captain: , Sydney (313)

In the USA they give you a free car at the marina???

As my first marina in the US in June 2012 I was pleased to clear in here easily as its a Port of Entry. The Marina rings Customs and the guy comes down and does the paperwork on the boat, no hassles, very easy, polite, nice, funny... Not what I was expecting entering the US.

The next nice surprise is the Marina giving you one of four cars for shopping trips. But they can only be used for an hour. West Marine is 25 minutes drive away (when you get lost 3 times) so the one hour use of car is a bit defeating.

Current means having to time entry and departure with slack water. Unless you got super thrusters do not try for the inner slips when the current is flowing!

Beaufort is a nice, tourist town but it's a two day stop, no more. And weekends are probably better with more people in the bars and activities but the marina does cop the noise. Some of the restaurants are really top shelf stuff!

Great location, helpful staff, noisy at night, 2012-09-03
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

Can't get a better location in Beaufort. Trade off is a lot of people walking around on the waterfront and loud music, especially on weekends where you'll be treated to some loud bass thumping until 1 am. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby as well as shops, banks, outfitters and just about everything else. Long walk to office and showers (mediocre). Pretty pricey too.

Wonderful experience!, 2012-08-29
Captain: , Rebel Marine, Norfolk, VA (10)

Beaufort Docks has become our favorite stop-over. It might become a destination rather than a stop-over from this experience.
From the customer service of the attendants to the delightful town we just enjoyed everything. There is even a car available for an hour at a time for the dock guests. We truly expect to return and soon.

Nice Location, 2012-08-28
Captain: , Aventura, Florida (330)

We had a last minute reservation due to weather and the marina accomodated us. The staff was very helpful. We happen to be there pirate week-end but it was all good. The docks were nice with decent power. everything you need is within walking distance. We will return.

Pricey Marina, 2012-07-29
Captain: , St Augustine, Fl (477)

Great Location right downtown, but it is pricey. We are on a budget so next time we will anchor out. if you go, make sure you stop at the Maritime museum accross the street and a block west. ( it is free). The courtesy cars were these big boats/station wagon that get about a mile a gallon ( I kid you not) The staff was nice and if you want to be right downtown then this is the place. Current thru here is swift so watch your arrival and departure times.

questionable, 2012-07-24
Captain: , N.C. USA (110)

The Docks were good, but there is a lot of current with the tide coming and going. The employees were nice as long as you didnt need them to do anything. When i left there was 30 kts of wind and i requested assistance leaving the dock and they took it as a inconvenience. But on the bright side, There was great shopping close by.

Blues Brothers Courtesy Cars, 2012-07-20
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (555)

We had a great time using the courtesy cars. They are woody station wagons that look like something right out of the Blues Brothers with an orange cone. What fun! The staff is super helpful and we enjoyed the stop. It is too bad there are not mooring buoys are we would have stayed longer to see more of the area. There are still a hodge pod of private moorings with very little room for anchoring with the tides and current.

They are improving, 2012-07-01
Captain: , Between Boats, USA (623)

I'm going to quickly upgrade my review as our experience was much better this time and my last review was, let's say, less than stellar. We just spend three nights there (June 2012) and had a very nice time. The staff were very pleasant (hats off to Wayne and Jeb). They were helpful, friendly and seemed genuinely happy to see us.

It appears that the bathrooms have been painted. Although still very old and could use a full remodel. They still have "cars" to use... Buick station wagons that seem to continue to hang in there.

The prices are quite high. After figuring power, we paid $2.64/ft which is $.50 over nearby competitors and the fuel was $.30 higher. Still, it's all about location, location, location. They got it and we want it. So, I suppose, a premium price should be expected. It's just hard to swallow sometimes.

They upgraded thier WiFi to a private sign-in. That's also expected as with a public AP in a busy downtown, I can see the consumer-level system they USED to use quickly getting overwhelmed. It's good they addressed it.

As usual, be careful and try to arrive at slack tide. The current runs pretty swift thru there. Listen to the dockhands. They REALLY know what they are doing and will get you in one way or another.

We will, of course, continue to return. Beaufort's downtown is better than ever and we really enjoy our stops there and we hope that the owner of the docks will continue to move toward making The Town Docks one of the best marina experience in the area.

Perfect Location, 2012-06-07
Captain: , Middle River, MD (354)

Stayed there two nights in late May. The setting is perfect. Nice floating docks, staff to help you get in. Office staff very friendly and helpful. Loaned me one of their cars to go to the grocery store (a couple miles away). Gave me tokens for two free beers at the pub next to the office - where they had free nightly entertainment. There are lots of shops and restaurants within a city block walking distance. Lots of friendly people.

Music Festival 5/11/2012 - 5/13/2012, 2012-05-16
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (32)

Visited mother's day weekend for music festival, was greeted warmly by dockmaster, and had dockhand assist in docking. Helpful due to current and wind. First time back in a couple of years and found some improvements. The restroom/shower room was painted and upgraded from last visit. New deli in town near docks had basic provisions, last time in town needed to bike out to highway for anything beyond water and softdrinks. Music was fun and marina was in great shape. Appreciate the wooden nickel for beer at the Dock House bar too!

Much Nicer, 2012-05-09
Captain: , Deltaville VA (140)

Back in NOV 2011, I gave a poor rating. I, however. can be convinced. Reviewers have said Beaufort Docks have taken negative comments to heart and made improvements. I agree. A very nice stay on May 4, 2012

A Great Marina, 2012-04-12
Captain: , Port Aransas, Texas (998)

From South Texas to the Keys and to Beaufort, this stop is in the top category. The whole area around the docks offers much and we wanted to stay longer. Food, books, museums and general ambiance is captivating. Dog friendly is an understatement. The staff is knowledgable and most professional. This is on our must stop list.

Highs and Lows, 2012-01-23
Captain: , florida (230)

We spent a few days here. The docks are in great shape and the dockmaster adept. Beaufort's quaint downtown is right next to the docks. The only downside to this marina are the bathrooms/showers which are circa 1950s gas station. I showered on the boat.

Nothing beats Beaufort, 2012-01-23
Captain: , Southport, NC (916)

Fantastic town and some of the best restaurants on the waterway in Blue Moon, Beaufort Grocery, & Front St Grille. If staying overnight at Beaufort Docks, be aware that the Dockhouse Restaurant has live music in the summers until very late. Great if your up for the party, bad if you are trying to sleep.

super location, easy access, great dockmaster, 2011-12-29
Captain: , Hampton, VA (2502)

We pulled in here from offshore in early December due to a family emergency. We've been at Beaufort docks since and have had a chance to see how everything is.

First, docks are floating docks which are great, even with the minor 3-4 ft. tide.

Second, the dockmaster, Mike, met us at the dock to help dock and tie up. Very professional, quiet and straightforward and without crossed signals. I've watched him repeat this multiple times, always being polite, even with clearly inexperienced boaters. Mike assured that transients get their mail and packages.

Beaufort itself is wonderful with almost everything within bike range. West Marine and box stores are admittedly a 7-10 mile car ride with the loaner. The West Marine is huge. Almost as big as the Ft. Lauderdale store. There are restaurants for most price breaks.

While the bathroom/shower facilities have seen better days, they are clean.

Don't miss taking your kayaks over to the islands across the creek. Shelling, birding and seeing the wild horses is great.

Update 12-29-11 The restrooms/showers are being rebuilt this winter. We came back to Beaufort on our way south with mechanical issues. Mike was very helpful in identifying a responsible mechanic to solve our problems.

Beaufort Docks is apparently taking the couple negative experiences shared on ActiveCaptain very seriously. Besides the remodeling of the restrooms, I'm told that they are also taking another look at dockage rates. This is a big deal since Beaufort Docks is a transient-only marina with just a handfull of locals. As such they have two short seasons - the spring and fall - to pay the rent. They are also making sure all customers are treated with courtesy. I personally have never witnessed customers being abused -- despite some truly awful behavior by them.

Very happy!

nice town & dock, 2011-11-26

Easy to get into and right in the center of town. The Marina lends the Marina car to guests and staff very helpful.

Only game in town, 2011-11-14
Captain: , Annapolis (30)

Spent two nights at Beaufort Docks. I agree with all the reviews regarding the floating docks, the dock hands and the fantastic location. However, while the mega-yachts that come to Beaufort Docks probably could care less about the marina's on-shore restrooms and shower facilities, those on smaller vessels probably do. Their bathrooms and showers are the worst I have seen on the ICW. All plywood. Not very clean. Right out of my 1960's summer camp memories. For the dockage they get, Beaufort Docks should invest in bathroom facilities that match the other truly great aspects of the marina.

Beaufort Docks, NC $94 for 36' single 50 amp power. NOT WORTH IT, 2011-11-14
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (105)

We are finding prices all over the spectrum as we head south from Deltaville, VA. The MTOA discount got us as low as a $1.00/ ft. But the Beaufort Docks must be living off their old reputation. The floating dock are fine. The bathrooms were so bad I took my shower on the boat and decided to use the holding tank space instead of their toilets. The dock boy (old guy) was rude to my wife on the VHF even yelling at her on ch9. We couldn't believe
that. So that didn't set the mood for us to have a good time either. There were very few shops or restaurants open on Sunday afternoon. I counted 25 boats anchored in the Beaufort anchorage. The Beaufort Docks marina seems to be 1/3 full. If they cut their prices in half, it might be a fair deal and a
lot less boats would be at anchorage opting for a dock for the night. The dock master at the desk was nice enough and I asked if they had any BoatUs, MTOA or discounts on fuel or dockage? He said no discounts at all. He then processed my credit card with one of those old machines that takes an imprint of your credit card and you get a copy. They get the entire 16 digits.
NOT VERY SAFE. We will not be stopping here on the way north.

Expensive but convenient, 2011-11-08
Captain: , Reedville, VA (688)

Most everything needed is across the street. Car available for groceries. Fuel available at dock but pump out at separate location.

One of the best stops on the ICW, 2011-11-01
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1288)

Beaufort Docks is terrific, one of the best stops on on the waterway, and that's partly because of the town itself and partly due to the marina. The strong current, which runs parallel to the shore, is something to contend with, but dockmaster Jeb and his team are expert is arresting crash landings and definitely know how to handle lines. If you're not sure how to make the approach, ask on the radio and they'll give good advice. During our four days at Beaufort Docks this year I watched with admiration as they handled every docking (and undocking) situation with cool, smooth efficiency--and zero damage. Larger yachts (65+ freet) get the choice T-heads, and the rest of us make-do with inner slips which are a little dicier to get into and out of when the current is running.

Beaufort has an ample serving of excellent restaurants, prompting me to wonder how such a small town can support so much quality cuisine. The marina has a great handout for every boat showing menus (including prices) for the most popular restaurants. In addition to old staples Beaufort Grocery and Blue Moon, this time we dined at Aqua which was four-star--loved their small plate menu.

We were waiting for a UPS package, so what time does UPS arrive? "If you're not expecting a package, they arrive between noon and 2," we were told, "but if you are expecting one you can expect it to arrive around 4 pm." They were right on the money!

Gosh I love this place., 2011-10-27

Just arrived. 3 dock hands directed me in to great slip, tied me up and helped with the water and electric. a Short walk to the office, where I got Wooden Nickel's for free beer at the bar/resturant next door. Friendly staff, helpful dockhands, courtesy cars, great resturants, Right down town in the queint town, shopping and atmosphere.I'll be back again and again

A great experience... almost, 2011-10-19
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (955)

I either got lucky, or they have fixed their "attitude" some others reviews expressed below. We came into the docks in a full current tide and 18 knot winds, and even though my boat has Zeus drives, I was quite worried about getting into the slip. Not only did they have three people on the docks to assist with lines, but gave me a little "coaching" on the radio as we approached. Took the time to hook up power, water, etc. Fueled us right in the slip. We didn't use the bath facilites so I can't adreess that. Great walking town with plenty of dining options (strongly suggest the "Grocery Store Restaurant" -- outstanding!). Only complaint I had was the live band that played outside at the Dockside Restaurant (right next to the docks) was pretty loud (and not all that good) so not being able to get to sleep until after midnight was not fun. Then again, it was a Friday night and the weekend of the annual Sea Food Festival, so shame on me for not thinking that one through in advance. Otherwise, I loved this place!

Right Downtown, 2011-10-16
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1135)

The marina isn't anything to brag about and a bit pricy but the people are delighful and you can't beat the location. Everything is within a few blocks.

Don't ask for a pump out!, 2011-09-24
Captain: , Greenville TX (580)

Nice location right on the main street. A bit noisy at night, but great food and shopping. Closest real grocery store is a cab ride away.
Very nice friendly staff, until we needed a pump out. I can't help it if your equipment is antiquated. The guys that came out to help were rude and argumentative. I've pumped our boat out a few times before and know that a simple soft rubber adapter doesn't work (a Beneteau)!

Rock concert was not appreciated, 2011-09-19
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

Nice marina in a good location, but the rock concert went on to after 1AM, then loud yelling and swearing for another hour after that. So the next morning we asked for a refund and moved to Town Creek Marina. I would have given this place one star, except that the staff apoligized and willingly gave us a refund.

Beauford City Docks, 2011-08-24
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (180)

We stayed for two nights during Pirate Fest. It was GREAT. You do need to be aware of the current and winds when docking. Just ask the staff and they will give you suggestions of how to dock. Being right downtown makes it so convenient to see everything. For a municipal marina that is trying to attract business for the community, it is a little overpriced. We will come back.

Could be 5 stars but ......, 2011-08-19
Captain: , Dataw Island, SC (290)

We stayed here 3 nites having to do some errands. We were disappointed in the following: we were placed directly opposite the restaurant near the dock office - very loud nightly entertainment so no sleep until after midnight during the week and after 1 AM on weekends; restrooms a walk and not a/c; rate of $2.30 foot is not worth it. If you do stay here, demand a space as far away from the loud nightly entertainment or bring ear plugs.

VERY CONVENIENT, 2011-08-04
Captain: , Montreal, PQ, Canada (560)

Very convenient location, right in the Beaufort historic/touristic area.

Very nice floating docks, everything you need closeby. Staff was courteous and helpfull to us.

Washroom/bath house could use re-vamp.

Good Marina, 2011-07-26
Captain: , No real home port. Cruising. (320)

Wood floating docks. Some dock hands very friendly and helpful, others not. Strong current can make getting in and out of slip dicey but dockhands will help. Dingy restroom facilities can be a long walk to get to. Lots of restaurants nearby. Loaner car available for one hour altho it takes about 1.5 hrs for roundtrip to Westmarine/Walmart in Morehead City.

BEAUFORT NC CITY DOCKS, 2011-07-23
Captain: , North Miami Beach, FL (70)

We have stayed here severral times and will again. The marina is located in he center of the restaurant/museum area of town. Marina folks are friendly and helpful, but are used to dealing with everything from cruisers to megayachts, so they have seen it all. Great access to restaurants, maritime museum, tourist shop. Fuel at slip, not the cheapest dock fee, but not the highest either Dock hands can be surly, lots of current. you will be on display to folls at tourist dock. They also have old Buick Roadmaster loaner cars to get to grocery, drug and other stores. Definitely worth a stop.

One of my faves, 2011-06-26
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

I always stop here. The dock staff is outstanding. I was approaching on a windy day with max tide running, port engine conks out at a critical time, but Mike and his staff actually made me look good.
Being right downtown makes it so convenient to see everything and there is lots to see and do. Everything is close by and it seems that there is a new and interesting restaurant every time I come. The only negative is that for a municipal marina that is trying to attract business for the community, it is a little overpriced.

Downtown Beaufort, 2011-06-15
Captain: , Babylon NY (331)

Nice floating docks at downtown Beaufort. Many great restaurants and bars in walking distance. Several bars with live bands on weekends. Good stop. Slightly expensive.

Unhelpful and rude, 2011-05-31
Captain: , Salter Path, NC (20)

Staff was unbelievably unhelpful and rude. Beaufort Docks used to be a friendly NC place but has very strangely gone downhill. The Dock House Restaurant which also used to be charming is now basically a local redneck dive. Sad to see Beaufort represented by such poor service seeing as though the docks are the window in which the world sees them. We were treated very rudely and will not ever return - we look forward to visiting Morehead City next time through.

2 night stay, 2011-05-29
Captain: , New Bern, NC (64)

Excellent assisatance and friendly staff. Location is great, right at heart of town. Only diesel available, had to go to Finz very close by for gasoline. Docks are in good shape but shower house is a long way down board walk from the far end. Shower house is clean and ok but not air conditioned. A bit pricey but worht it for location. We'll be back!

Great Stopover, 2011-04-27
Captain: , Fishing Bay VA (335)

We pulled in early afternoon on 4-21-11 and found the dock assistance to be great, had a great parking space. Fuel was available right at the slip. Showers are in pretty good shape and very useful. The floating Dock is convienent to the shops and resturants, generally had a great stay. We found the staff friendly and helpful and will stay again when in the area.

Great small town, 2011-03-15
Captain: , Westport,Ma (700)

a must stop! Right in downtown just steps away. Small business area so no large shopping areas for chain stop available. But some nice resturants etc. Very Quaint!

Fine off season (November), 2011-02-02
Captain: , Bristol, RI (766)

No noise problem at this time of year. Great to be right in town. I found the staff friendly - maybe being off season helps. Marina has free loaner cars (quite beat up but fine to get to a store). Every store you can imagine from West Marine to Walmart is a 10 minute drive.

Good but could be better, 2010-11-12
Captain: , Fort Pierce, Florida (369)

Stayed two nights waiting for favorable winds. Great location, courtesy car was good to have but was old, rate was higher than expected, but dock guys were friendly and helpful. Didn't tell us fuel was at our dock, showers were fair but far from the slip we were at. Wifi was spotty and not available most of the time. Next time we will probably anchor across and row in.

Beaufort Town Dock, 2010-11-06
Captain: , Lansdale, PA (330)

The marina is within walking distance of restaurants, shops and historic sites. The dockmasters were helpful and friendly. It was convenient to be able to get fuel right at our slip. The courtesy car is great for being able to go to a grocery store or you could take a longer drive to West Marine if you had to. The bathrooms were far away from our slip and were dirty and rundown.

Better Places to Stay, 2010-10-15

Except for location, this place has gotten out of hand over the years. We used to always stay here, but after this year, we will not unless things change. Dock hands aer fair at best, except for one guy who is always great. Locals talk about one of the dock hands as being very rude. We agree, and most have been here for years. Way too expensive, and the showers ahve deterioriated greatly over the years, and they are a long walk from some slips. Piers are in good shape. Noisy at night, mainly weekends, due to partying. Got a bike, stay on Taylor Creek, or anchor.

Ouch! The $2.75/Ft Dockage Rate was Steep as well as . The 50Amp Fee $12.00 It was an expensive two days but the Location was worth it.However Very few Boats at the Docks. Only six boats on the dock. Enjoyed the Visit. Very Capable Dock Hands The four wooden coins they give you are redeemable in Bud Lite"s (4) and their restaurant.

Great experience. heplful dock staff at the dock and with local knowledge of the Neuse River and Pamlico sound. Great restaurants just blocks away.

Pumpout guys Rude, but dockmaster Neill was FANTASTIC., 2010-08-01
Captain: , Houston, Texas (164)

We loaded up with fuel and water. We chose this place due to the fact that they had a pumpout. However, the pumpout was not located on the same dock as the fuel. So we had to move the boats clear down to another dock in order to pump out and the hose is quite short. The cost of the pump out is $10. This was the highest so far and the they should offer free pumpout with fuel. Seeing as how North Carolina has a new law that requires all vessels to keep a log of their pumpouts and also requires the marina to keep a log of every vessel that they pump out that there should be a grant that pays for the pumpouts instead of the vessels. The guys that were there at the pumpout dock were not the most friendly guys either. However, we do want to mention Neill. He was fantastic and he was the dockmaster that helped us with the fuel and also with our lines. Very professional and extremely hospitable. Too bad he was not the person that we spoke with on the phone when we called to check fuel prices. It was the guy on the pump out dock that we spoke to . Very gruff and not very helpful or willing to give the fuel price. Great location to dock for the night, since it is right in the heart of town. No BOAT US discounts offered. The deisel was 25 cents higher than Portside Marina, but they did not have a pumpout. We left the docks thinking that we were an imposition.

Better Option is to Anchor Out, 2010-07-13
Captain: , West Palm Beach, Florida (20)

Except in low season, stay away unless you like amplified, loud music played until late evening by bad musciians. The worst and loudest music comes from the center of the docks at the Dockside Restaurant. Because the slips are only 4 deep all along the width of the marina, you can't escape the music.
Beautiful and quiet anchorage available all along the creek that fronts the old town. Anchor east of the town and then dingy in to the gazebo dock for all the delights of the town.

Great stopping off spot..., 2010-07-04

If heading out the inlet, or entering this is a great stop. They have pump-ou facility with adapters! Fuel at the slips, a great down town location with clean showers and great restaurants within easy walking distance. Best of all friendly helpful dock master and personnel.

This is our second stop. Last stop was in the fall and it was pretty dead. In summer, it jumps!

Our favorite restaurant is Clawsons, just across the street from the marina. Finz, no longer exists. There is a loaner car for your use. Marina supply store within walking distance. Nice shops for boating clothes, plus a couple of bookstores. Laundry facilities are available across the street at the back of the General Store. None at the marina.

Stayed here on a Friday night. If you don't want to party but want your sleep for a long day tomorrow - this is not the place to stay. Otherwise, it's a first-rate facility right downtown. If your looking for a different place to eat (gourmet) try The Grocery Company just 1/2 block up Queen Street - it never disappoints?

Great docks--right in the center of town. Lots of resturants and shops. Current can rip through marina. Staff may recommend departure on slack tide depending on slip.

Worth the stop, 2009-06-09
Captain: , Jacksonville FL (84)

On June 9, 2009 dockage was $2.25 a foot plus $10 for 50 amp service. Dock hands are there when you need them. Its right in town and it's a very nice walking area. Very many homes built in the 1700s. We were not very pleased with the showers. They are old and run down but and overall value at $2.25 a foot. Very good restaurants right on the water. We had dinner at Finz. A local suggested it and it was very good and reasonable. Entrees were around $20.00. Its right on the water; a 5 minute walk from your boat.

Lots of postives with this faciltiy but the most expensive we encountered coming from Fl to Norfolk and the pump out facility was inoperative -- after 30 minutes of trying not convinced they're going to fix it.

Right in the middle of town. The NC Maritime Museum is close by and worth visiting. They have artifacts from Blackbeards Queen Anns Revenge. They also offer tours of the wreck site and excavation process by appointment. The marina showers are a little shabby but adequate. Nice floating docks.

We love downtown Beaufort and enjoyed our stay here BUT on the weekends, the rock bands can be very loud and play until early morning. Probably the most professional group of dockhands we've ever experienced which is good as there can be some current. We will definitely stay here on weekdays in the future.

Walking to shops and various restaurants. Courtesy car, helpful staff, great help on docking which is necessary if you come in on a bad current and wind day. Current and wind can run at right angle to some slips.

This is the first marina we stayed at in Beaufort. It's a good choice for the first time because they're right in the middle of the town and you can easily walk to anything. Very nice facilities. Lots of people watching you pull into the slip when the weather is nice!
