Reviews for Bear Point Marina
They go the extra mile!, 2016-09-02
Captain: , Laceys Spring (10)

My husband and I spent the night here on our voyage from St Pete to Mobile and had a very pleasant experience. Nice, clean restroom/showers and air conditioned laundry room. It was too hot to cook that night so we had a nice supper at Flippers restaurant. The owners are very customer friendly. Thanks for going the extra mile!

Unimpressive, 2015-09-22
Captain: , USA,USA (51)

Only been there once. Was quoted $16 a foot! Appears to be a tourist trap. Resturant was just so so. Fixed docks that are old. Couldn't beleive they were higher than Barber! Went back to Barber. I NOTICE ALL THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE OLD!

Rocking and rolling, 2015-05-29
Captain: , charleston (761)

No frills marina. We had been here before and had a decent experience. This time was different. We were docked 2 slips in from the ICW and rocked and rolled the entire time. No one seems to observe no wake zones around the marina. Even the tour boats coming into the marina waked us as they went in and out.

Our slip was long walk to the facilities and not an easy tie. Dockhand was nice but ineffecient and not very knowledgeable about docking.

most poorly managed marina in entire gulf coast., 2014-12-16
Captain: , Gulfport, FL (40)

Ask any question and get a different answer from the last time. They seem to make it up as they go. Aparently judging each sailor by his/her appearance or that of the boat is a fine art here. Thought it might be better with the recent new owners but first indication is negative, not so.
If you have to, stay a night. You'll likely not notice how screwed up the place is. If you don't need anything anchor in Ingrams Bayou instead.
But no matter what, don't even consider leasing a slip here. You'll most likely regret it. The old management is currently training the clueless new management. So unless they wise up it's more of the same. Quote, "Be sure and kick some one out every once and a while, so everyone knows who's the boss". Happens regularly though it did not happen to me. The majority of boats that leave here are kicked out.
There once was a letter in the bill that stated there would be a fifty dollar charge for each time a tennant said something bad about the marina. I guess I owe them fifty dollars.
Southern hospitality comes from the locals and liveaboards here. Couldn't say enough good things about them. A great bunch of folks of which many I consider good friends.
There is however a meth head thief in the first house east of the marina. Has been caught red handed more than once and still there prowling at night stealing anything possible.
The food at Flippers is excellent. Staying a night and having dinner is the only reasonable option. Restaurant is closed until New Years Eve though. Don't stay on the outer docks unless the weather is forcast dead calm.

good place and good food, 2014-06-14
Captain: , Corpus Christi (221)

We arrive late and took a slip near the was OK but a long hike to the bar and restaurant....but the price was great...didn't mind the hike for the price...the food was good and we closed the bar down...actually our "Bar Bill" was twice the cost of the dock....At least the priorities are right....

This should be a stop for everyone...we were on a schedule ( something no sailboat should be on) so we only stayed one time we will stay a week....

I gave them five stars in '09, 2013-05-20
Captain: , Illinois (2422)

Wish i could again. I called for a transient slip and was advised only the ones near the harbor entrance was available. Upon trying to utilize found they were under construction with no electricity or dock cleats. I tried to use them but just couldn't.
Later, after enjoying a wonderful afternoon at Pirates Cove, I traveled back to Bear Point Marina for dinner at Flippers' only to find members of my boating group arriving after my first visit parked for the night in premo slips.
I hope this mixup was a rare occurence. I'd give them a no star award if i could.

All Services Open for the Summer, 2013-05-08
Captain: , Orange Beach, AL (356)

2013-05-08 Gas & diesel, dock store, Flippers Restaurant and Tiki Bar are all open and busy for the spring and summer season. Several transient slips, but otherwise the marina is pretty full. Easy on and off the ICW. Fun place for food, fuel and a Bushwacker!

2012-11-17 Very helpful staff and tenants. Fuel, restaurant, tiki bar, and store on site. Stayed several days due to storm, had a great time. Will definitely stop on way back.

closed for winter, 2012-12-19
Captain: , Galveston, TX (104)

Stopped in here on 12-19-2012.

Everything was closed up. Spoke with a guy who keeps his boat in a slip there. The guy told me they will prob be closed until some time in January. Not sure what the deal is.

Honesty is a Great Attribute, 2012-11-05
Captain: , St. Clair, Michigan (456)

We were on Mobile Bay head for the GIWW and called Bear Point for reservations for the night. After I gave them the size of the boat they said that they could accomodate me on the outside wall but it would not be comfortable. They had some damage and their seasonal boats were in many of their transient slips. We assumed it was Issac damage. The lady suggested several other marinas in the area. We thanked her and went to the Wharf. I really appreciated the honesty and wanting to please the boater inspite of turning business away. This to an extent reinforces the views may other boaters had about the staff going out of their way for the boater.

Convenient For Fuel, 2012-06-25
Captain: , Elberta, AL (100)

Haven't stayed here, just stopped for fuel, pump out, etc. The staff is very helpful. Approach to the fuel dock is very easy in and out. Entrance channel can't be a little busy sometimes, but overall a nice facility with a helpful staff.

Small Slice of Heaven, 2012-05-17
Captain: , SeaDrift TX (20)

Along the waterway there are few places that are worth writing about ... and this is one of them. We have been coming by and staying at Bear Point for more than 10 years and have never been disappointed. The marina staff are the best ... mostly because they are just good people ... but also ... they are all boaters. They know what it important and really strive to deliver. The restaurant and tiki bar are colorful and a place where %u201Ceveryone will know your name%u201D.

Great Friendly Marina, 2012-05-15
Captain: , Pensacola (430)

Small store on site and restaurant and Tiki bar. Got quiet after 10 PM on a monday night. Staff and tennants very friendly and extremely helpful. Couldn't have found a better stop over for laundry and showers.

good stopover, 2011-06-18
Captain: , MS Sound (284)

Very friendly staff and locals. Docked next to restauran and had live music. Quiet crowd at bar and restaurant, did not see any dogs(some stated many dogs on site). Did have a huge sand box complete with toys for the kids. Restaurant food ok nothing special just a bit pricy.

great stop and friendly people, 2011-05-22
Captain: , New Orleans (651)

We stopped for a few hours to take on fuel, do laundry, deposit refuse and have lunch. All aspects were fulfilling. The staff and locals were all very friendly and even offered to take us on errands, if needed. The restaurants offers free home made ice cream, too. It was a short stop, but memorable and fun.

A Friendly Place, 2011-05-11
Captain: , North Palm Beach, FL (539)

Stayed for a week ending May 12, 2011. Had side tie on inside of the east "wall" which is really a dock with wave fence enderneath. That location gets some wakes but not too serious or frequent. (52 foot, heavy boat) The staff is very good. Dennis the dockmaster automatically goes into "help mode" when you need local knowledge or a problem solved. The docks rate about 3 stars but overall I think 4 stars is right. The restaurant has a good seafood platter. Various services, West Marine, hardware, and groceries are 3 to 5 miles. Orange Beach is a pleasant, clean, environment. Enjoyed our stay.

Sea Change, 2011-02-17
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (651)

Sea Change is presently docked at Bear Point. Nice friendly people and great knowlege from the live a board crowd. Flippers the near by restuarnt has great food.

Excellent stay, 2010-12-28

Stayed at the Bear Point Marina recently and was very please with both the slip fee as well as the overall character the marina had. Beautiful view, helpful staff and very friendly live aboards as well as pets!

Nice quiet marina, 2010-03-15
Captain: , Nassau Bay (185)

The restaurant on site is pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but a nice break from boat food. Good burger and fries. Arrived for a 1 night stay after 4:00pm. They were closed, but pulled into fuel dock, no problem. Winter doesn't seem to be their busy season.

Small Sailboat Cruising, 2009-05-13
Captain: , Carrabelle (364)

We stayed one night. The staff was very friendly. There were two bathrooms with showers that were somewhat clean. Appeared to be lots of liveaboards. The price was right for the slip! The restaurant was average. We discovered nothing within walking distance. It was a very long walk from our slip to the bathroom and the ship store. The internet connection was below average.

Very Dog Friendly, 2009-05-09
Captain: , Captiva (163)

We stayed two nights at Bear Point Marina in May, 2009. We have a catamaran and we were able to tie up to a wall. Everyone is very friendly and facilities are clean. There is only one washer/dyer but we were able to use it without waiting. Most of the slips have cable TV hook-ups although we didn't get one. The restaurant at the marina , Fliippers, is farily good. There is nothing within walking distance. Easy access just off the ICW. I've never seen so many dogs at a marina, but all are friendly and well behaved.

Great Marina, 2007-10-02
Captain: , Kemah, TX (12)

We kept a 40' sailboat there for two months this summer. The staff were very helpful and cooperative and the marina was clean and well maintained. It's farther from Gulf Shores than the marinas in the cut but it's also much cheaper.

Good place to stay for the night., 2007-02-19
