Reviews for Beacon Rock State Park Moorage
Great Place to Veg, 2014-08-27
Captain: , Whittier Alaska (609)

Entering added a little bit of a puker factor as the depth was around 8 feet at the entrance and the channel is very narrow. Also be aware on hot summer days the dam ramps up generation which may increase the depth, but adds lots of current. Max stay is 5 days and if you want a spot, get there mid-week. The State has added an additional trail to the rock, so now you don't have to run across the bridge. The docks are also closed down in the winter.

Beacon Rock Access, 2012-11-18
Captain: , Portland, Or (116)

Nice view of Beacon Rock, though access means a long detour west out onto the main road. There are plans for a shorter trail through the park, but that was no completed as of my visit in 2010. There's a nicely maintained trail system starting near the marina, but better access to Beacon Rock and the rest of the park would make this a more enjoyable stay. There is a strong current through the channel, but not much wind. The river shoals up just south of the docks, near the boat ramp, so it's better to stay in the main channel until closer to E / SE of the docks before heading in. Facilities were fine, standard park bathrooms, etc. I don't remember a shower, though there could have been one.

Nice overnight stay, 2012-11-01
Captain: , Portland, Oregon (101)

Nice views of the Columbia River Gorge and Beacon Rock. Limited dock space. Anchorage is nominal to poor as there is little space to anchor in for boats with any draft and holding in the deeper water is poor. Also, as of summer of 2011 - a very difficult walk to access Beacon Rock as there was not a trail from the moorage area to that part of the state park. We had to walk out to the highway and then a considerable distance east. The highway (WA State Highway 14) is not built for pedestrians and is thus rather dangerous to walk along - traffic can be heavy, fast, and there is little feeling of security.
