Reviews for Beach Marine
Good, but expensive, 2017-08-29
Captain: , Sandusky, Ohio (10)

I was brought here under tow because my engine wouldn't start. Now, everything is fixed by Marine Max tachnicians Jake and Chris. These guys are EXCELLENT! And, like all the staff they are competant and helpful. I went to the bar to eat and listen to music. Agan I found staff who went out of their way to be nice to me. The dock hands hav been most helpful, and again, have gone out of their way for me. were it not for the cost, I'd plan to come again. Great place. Still some damage showing on one of the roofs. but the docks are all in good shape, with built in fenders the full length. After the high winds the other day, some of the ock fenders have come loose. I'm sad to report that there appears to be an extortion scam going on. I was told that I owed for two days. I paid, and my bank shows the transaction. The very next day, I was told that I owed for FIVE days, and if I didn't pay it, they would lock up my boat. I called the bank and got the records of all my paymets, but, since it wasn't printed out, they would not accept it. I would not have even been here today had I been able to reach the dockmaster and arrange for dock hands to coe help me leave. To say I am annoyed is an understatement.

Time to get the wifi fixed!, 2017-07-25

Fallen on hard times, 2017-07-18
Captain: , Key West, FL (758)

After TS Matthew there was considerable damage at this marina. And, unfortunately, there appears to be no urgency to bring this up to a minimally acceptable standard. The Internet is in the lower quartile of marina WiFi's, their power is unreliable (even for a 208VAC antiquated system), most of their slips remain unusable (for either power or structural reasons), and they have failed to maintain minimally required depths in several areas of the marina and its fairways. We have stayed here at least six times; but no more.

A Place dedicated to its customers, 2017-05-06
Captain: , Bristol, RI (350)

On our trips north and south, we have wanted to stop at Beach Marine because of all the wonderful things we had heard about it but were never in the area at the time we needed to put up for the night. On May 4, 2017, we were in that area and decided to finally stay the night. All the accolades were spot on. In spite of the fact that the marina is being renovated due to Mathew, is is business as usual. This staff does not miss a beat. Beach Marine is expertly managed and run. The staff here is dedicated to each and every customer, their safety, and their satisfaction. Upon arrival, with the intention to stay one night. Andrew and three young men helped us at the fuel dock and then safely into our slip despite the high winds. Because of the high winds, we stayed May 5 hoping to depart on May 6. Yet again, the high winds stopped us. Mike and Andrew accommodated us in spite of the fact that other boats wanted to get in out of the heavy wind and choppy ICW. We were already here and extremely appreciative of all they did to help us.. They took into consideration the fact that moving any boat in this breeze could not be done safely. We were heading north, through Fernandina which is still suffering the effects of Hurricane Mathew and not easily passible. Tides and wind have to be considered. Again we opted to stay another day with the winds predicted to calm down on May 7, Sunday. During the day an employee makes dock walks checking lines and seeing if anyone needs assistance. The restrooms are clean and updated. The weight room has 2 treadmills, weights, and benches. The staff calls you back on the phone when they say they will. Every staff member is extremely professional and trained to handle lines, and assist customers in any way they can. We can't thank Mike, Andrew, and the entire staff enough for their assistance during our stay. Their expertise is great appreciated!!! We will definitely return on our next trip south and spread the word. As we travel, it is obvious that some staff do enjoy their jobs and want to assist customers. Beach Marine is just that place! Their rating should be higher that 5+. The staff make this marina what it is: A place you enjoy coming to and want to return to. They make you feel welcome.
Our thanks to everyone!

Needed a replacement for a failed temp gauge sender. Becka (new employee) busted her butt to help find the part we needed and get it on site in 24 hours, while we were still underway. All the staff were great.

Good place!, 2017-04-27

Anne and I stop here usually to visit friends on our way to and from north.
Nothing special here, no place to walk to and busy street noise, however friendly folks constantly working to make our visit nicer.

Shallow in assigned slip, 2017-04-18
Captain: , Mystic, CT (80)

Realizing from previous reviews that this marina has a water depth problem at low tide, we inquired before booking reservations. Although we had no trouble with our entrance to the marina, the slip we were assigned was definitely NOT for a boat with a 4 1/2 foot draft. Of course we were very annoied and insisted on getting a better place. Fortunately we were only staying one night so they found us an alternative place; although the dockhands were not knowledgeable as to which lines to tie first based on the current and winds. Hopefully once this marina gets fixed up and gets their act together since it is in a great place and being redeveloped.

They are working on it, 2017-04-14
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (1522)

Stopped on 4/6/17 for 4 days. The marina is under new management, there is construction going on to the main building where the ships store is. The manager is training new people, some have no boating experience but are more then willing to learn the job of marina operations and helping boaters to dock and get set up. I personally feel that some of the old guard needs to be replaced and one young man who was joking with another standing about 15 feet away while my dock hand was trying to deal with a hard docking, should be let go. I think after the manager finishes training and cleaning house, this will be a great marina to be at.. and that will be soon. As an important note, When entering the area, be aware that at low tide you need to hug the docks because it gets very shallow. I saw 2 boats coming in at low tide, one grounded and the other touched. The dock guys offered no advice when they called before entering so just stay close to the docks. The marina in general is a great marina.

OK, doing improvements Shallow draft marina, 2017-03-12
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (3189)

Washrooms and showers older, but fairly clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Floating metal docks a bit noisy. Some damage from Matthew needs repair still. Has basic weight room and a laundry. If you cross street east a block away is adventure and water park which would be fun for kids and family. Travel east further and resturants and a strip mall is fairly close. Alantic ocean is just a bit further east with beaches.

Nice Marina , 2017-03-05
Captain: , Cape May, NJ (340)

Nice upcoming Marina. Mike (Harbor Master) and his staff are the best. It's shallow coming into the Marina at low tide (5 foot). Our Cat draws 4 feet. Mike personally guided us in and tied us up. When we left the next morning Mike helped us get underway and through the shallow parts. Marina provided us with a complementary newspaper in the morning.
Blue Typhoon Bar & Grill is on premise. Emily (waitress) was great and very professional. Did not have dinner but had several appetizers. 10% discount when you present dock receipt. Wifi did not work but our AT&T Hotspot had 4 bars. Will definitely stay again when we are in the area.

Beach Marine, JAX, 2017-01-22
Captain: , Savannah, GA (121)

We planned on a one night stay on our run south and ending up staying 4 nights to duck a cold front pushing through. Marina is still undergoing repair from hurricane Matthew and continuing improvements. Only one restaurant/bar on site; didn't try it as it was too full of kids/loud adults...not our style. many great restaurants close by; Uber works well. Dockhands and staff are very helpful and responsive to requests. Some noise from the Beach Blvd bridge, but not too bad. The showers and bathrooms are clean; the layout though is a little odd. Still they work; we'd stay here again as a transient stop. A note for sailboats or draws over 5' - the channel in is 5' or less at MLW, but once in the basin is reported at 8'.

Enjoyed our stay. Dock staff was wonderfully attentive. Restaurant was so so but the server was also customer service oriented. Restaurant across the water was outstanding!

I spent two nights here, New Years Eve and New Years Day. Nice quiet place and very accomodating. Dock Master Mike Hardage went out of his way to ensure my stay was a good one.

Adequate for a short stay., 2016-12-06
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1453)

Stayed 2 nights 12/3-4 waiting for space to open up at Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville. Very easy in/out from ICW. Marina is still repairing Matthew damage and also upgrading facilities - new bulkhead and walkway going in, new floating docks on site. Nice w/d ($1.50 ea) but no change available on weekends except what fuel dock and ship's store can spare. Nice ship's store. Unusable wifi and weak AT&T signal so even had trouble tethering. Billy's Boat House restaurant is closed and scheduled for demolition, so only Blue Typhoon bar/restaurant remains on site, which we didn't try. Highly recommend Safe Harbor restaurant across from marina. Daily paper is nice touch, but we had to walk to the fuel dock to get it. Nothing much nearby; would need transportation for groceries or to get to beach.

Post Matthew, 2016-11-17
Captain: , Milwaukee WI (939)

We stayed two night when the NE winds made anchoring ncomfortable. We are glad we made a reservation as the first three rows of docks are out of service due to hurricane damage. The good news is we slipped in 9th ninth row which was calm and quiet. The previous visit our slip was next to the bridge and the traffic noise was evident constantly.

The dock staff was excellent and attentive, including bringing us the Sunday morning newspaper.

Restroom are clean but a bit of a walk. Showers could offer privacy than a curtain. Laundry provided one of the best most cost effective wash $1.50 /load wash and dry.

On site bar/restaurant with patio provided a place to watch football and had a nice selection of bar food at good prices. Staff was attentive.

On location marine store did not have what we needed and West Marine was too far to walk. Did not need other supplies.

Much Better Than Expected, 2016-06-25
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (30)

We stopped at Beach Marina on our inland detour because of unfavorable conditions offshore. In our initial investigation we had eliminated Beach Marina because of the poor reviews on this site but we couldn%u2019t find a place to anchor and were running out of options. We were pleasantly surprised with marina. They found space for us on their floating dock and provided guidance for getting in. We had to cross an area of 7ft at mid-tide. The floating dock was in good shape. Don%u2019t be put off by the outer floating docks being empty there is deeper water inside and we were delighted with the resident manatee family. The bathhouse is below average but functional. Nearby is nice dockside bar/restaurant for dinner. We spoke with Lisa the owner operator about the upcoming changes. The marina will remain open and active while condominiums are being built near by.

What a waste, 2015-12-21
Captain: , Daytona (10)

This review is for the marina at Beach Marine. We were there several days heading to keys.awhile back. This is the most expensive marina we've found on the East Coast. First of all, There are aluminum docks that scratched the boat - and no rubber moldings on the docks. The docks are aluminum framing with fiberglass panels. the panels are popping up causing tripping hazards to the point of being dangerous - the docks sway because they are anchored incorrectly and made of cheapest material can be found. They "claim" to have internet, but there is no wifi signal to be found anywhere. There is a tower, I guess that is their claim to wifi connection. Everything seems to be broken or in disrepair. Most Lights on the docks are out - the docks also slant because of the cheapness of material causing another hazard. There is no security - even the sign for "docks are for boaters" is broken and hanging to one side. The gym is laughable and dangerous as there is no upkeep. The sauna has a sign, reading "temporarily out of service", but hear has been there quite a while. The bathrooms are outdated and mens' shower closest to intercoastal side is nonworking. Boater's beware - problems with depth and docking which staff seems unknowledgable or just ignorant. If non-emergency - suggest going somewhere else. Too bad - only one of few marinas close to Jacksonville Beach. A family owned business - you would think would have more pride.

More rundown than last time, 2015-12-05
Captain: , Point Edward (459)

Still no Wi-fi as advertised and same excuse as last visit. Washrooms are worse. Men's shower doesn't work so don't be surprised to see men going into the women's shower. Aluminum docks are still in disrepair. Despite having a couple of good restaurants nearby and helpful marina staff, we will not stay here again. Twice is enough.

Stopped for one night, 2015-11-25
Captain: , Annapolis MD (40)

When we had to pass by the Jacksonville free docks because they were more than filled we moved on to Beach Marine. We were greeted by two helpful dockhands to help with lines. This is a good thing as the current can be pretty swift and the fairways aren't that wide.

We were having problems with our freshwater system and so decided to fill the tank in case the gage was not accurate. It was only the next morning while walking the dog that one of us discovered a sign near the parking lot that said "dock water not potable". This was after we had taken on about 75 gallons of water at the dock! We were not told of this by the dockhands nor did we see any signs on the dock.

When we were leaving (quite early) we did spot a resident and asked, as we were pulling out about the water. He said, "oh, it's from a private well that hasn't been tested but we all drink it". When I called the marina later in the day whoever I spoke with said, "It's city water but I don't know why they made us put up that sign".

Not the kind of experience we hope to find.

Good location, 2015-11-20
Captain: , Galena, MD (1856)

Stopped on Saturday, Nov 14. Saw 5ft under keel at 2hrs before high tide, draw 3ft. Tied to T head just west of fuel dock. No problem with 30amp electric. Did not use internet but advised that reception was poor in this location. Verizon Mifi was fine. Did not use showers. Docking help was fine and docks were ok as well.
Ate dinner at The Boat House Grille and the fresh fish was excellent, beer was cold, the service great, and the price was very fair.
Boat US discount put dockage at $1.57/ft. But elec was $8!!

Beach Marina is a first class operation., 2015-11-20
Captain: , Norfolk Va (40)

I stayed here for 2 nights and must say the Dockmaster and his crew were as professional as I have found anywhere. I intend on making this one of my stops on my way back north in the spring. 2 good restaurants on site too. Thanks Joe for the hospitality.

Disappointing, 2015-11-12
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7375)

Very good response to phone and Vhf. Lots of help docking. Very nice docks.

But the restrooms ruined this stay for us. The restroom nearest the office was filthy, shower not functioning.

I could not get into the showers at the 3-story building and no one was around to help. Area was not well lit. I heard from a friend that these restrooms/showers were actually very nice.

But first impressions count, won't stop here again.

The marina building generally looked in a state of decline, no evidence anything being repaired or improved. Won't be back

Very disappointing, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Rowayton, CT (199)

While Andrew was helpful and welcoming when we arrived,

1) the wifi did not work at all
2) the shower head in the men's bathroom was missing and the toilet area had not been cleaned this morning
3) the wooden docks are falling apart

We shall not return unless some money is invested in overall improvements here.

Internet is not reliable, 2015-10-17
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (10)

Despite the best efforts of the marina manager, and my slip supposedly being covered by 3 of their antennas, I could not get reliable internet coverage. Management will tell you internet access is wonderful, but the liveaboards will tell you they have found other access methods. I need internet for work, and tried to ask for a discount since I will have to spend money for other internet and was turned down. She said all marinas are the same, well they aren't. The dock help is great, but the slips are way overpriced for the services rendered (or not) and the general mediocre upkeep of the buildings.

Never again, 2015-07-01
Captain: , cruising (40)

Stopped here for the third time in 2 years. Made 3 phone calls to ask about low voltage and water depth. I was assured that there was no problem with the voltage and the water depth was fine.
We draw 4.5 feet. Arrived 3 hrs before low tide and had 5 feet in the channel. That should have told me something but I docked anyway. Plugged in a single 50 amp cord and read 208 volts on my meter. Hard not to run the AC hwen it's 90 degrees. Dock boys said the city only provides them with 218 Volts. Well, low tide came 3 hours later and I was sitting on the bottom with my AC unit sucking up mud, muck and stuff with my voltage meter still showing 208 Volts. Every substantial boat in this marina is sitting on the bottom at low tide. When I registared, I was told the WiFi is not working. He said the unit got hit by lightning. I later was told that not to be true. Ate lunch at Nippers. A wedge salad with a small piece of steak, 2 small pork tacos, i OK Cheeseburger and 2 Miller lights = $51.36 withour tip. So if you are looking for a place with no water, low voltage ( $12 for 50 Amp ), no WiFi and bar food, this is for you.

Water Depths, 2015-06-07
Captain: , Bear, DE (197)

I have been here for several months with a vessel that draws 6 feet. I have to come and go with at least 2.5' over MLW and must stay fairly close the the docks. Stay within 20-25 feet of the docks while entering the marina. The north side of th entrance (close to the public ramps) only has less than 3' at MLW. Once inside, there is a 8' MLW turning basin in the very back. If you have time, try eating at both Nippers and Billy's Boat House.

I use a charcoal filter when filling the water tank and have found I need to replace the filter every 2500 gallons. It looks like a little bit of sand is in the water. It should not be an issue unless you live here, and then the filter is advised.

The marina is very nice and you will find a post office, Publix and West Marine within a couple of miles. The marina also has marina supplies (hoses and stuff).

There is often decent outside music which goes no later than 10pm. And, thank goodness, there is no karaoke for drunk sailors! ;)

Needs Improvements, 2015-05-17
Captain: , Wilmington DE (792)

Aluminum docks have no rubber edges and will scratch your hull if fenders are not placed 1' above water. Power is 208 volts! BAD for motors. Staff friendly, but not knowledgeable. I'll make this a last resort choice next time.

Update 5/17/15. I forgot my last review and came in again. Good staff to help docking. 195 volts - flourscent lights barely came on. I'm afraid to run the salon AC. Shoal opposite the launch ramp. Less than 4' just past low tide. Holes on dock. We ate at Nippers. Admiral said 'write this place off'.

Stopped for one night heading North, easy in/ out, good help docking in strong winds. Good restaurant on site.

only 5ft at mlw, 2015-05-15
Captain: , Nederland, CO (410)

Called to see if we could come in there at low tide with 5.5ft draft and they said yes just stay 7 to 8 feet off the docks coming in. we went aground right at the docks. they should know how much water is there.might be deeper center channel. would give one star but the dock hands were nice and helpful.

Good and not so good, 2015-05-01
Captain: , Oriental, N.C. (111)

We stopped here during a storm and wound up staying 2 nights. I am not sure how to describe this marina. It is a nice marina and the staff are pleasant. There are two very popular restraunts at the marina, with so so food. They have a service departmentment to do repairs, but it shuts down for the weekend. The office also shuts down for the entire weekend and everything is handled at the dock. Showers are not cleaned very well. My overall reaction was that there was a lack of attention and that maintence was poor. I never saw any staff member after we docked.

Great stay & Food, 2015-04-21
Captain: , Sarnia (371)

Marina staff were very helpful and ready to assist. Great food at restaurants on site - 10% discount if staying at marina. Loved the Abacos theme at Nipper's. Laundry and washrooms are well maintained and all in working order - $1.50 ea/wash & dry.

Depth, Depth, Depth, 2015-03-18
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (671)

Tried to make this approach aboard Sea Change a Catalina 380 with 5'2" draft. We promptly ran aground before the first dock. The dock hand was nice and encouraged us to hug the sea wall and make another approach. We promply ran aground again. We divereted and went to another marina.

I'm sure that previous positive reviews were correct. We were just unable to make it to the dock. I have a standard litany of questions that I always ask on the phone when making reservations. You know the routine, is there current? approach depth? stern-to dock? which side will tie up on? This will be the 4th or 5th marina that we have ran aground while making an approach. I appreciate the need for revenue, but there comes a time when you have to be honest with the boaters and tell them that you lack the depth to accept them at your marina.

Good Stop, But, 2015-01-28
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (115)

We stayed one night 1/20/15 - easy in and out. Staff was good help and gave us good recommendations on the local restaurants. The only negative was the pump-out and fuel prices. We needed both - they just need to be more competitive with the market.

Mixed review, 2015-01-22
Captain: , Petches Bridge (10)

A good marina from a nautical perspective. No wi-fi connectivity (explained as too many liveaboards using the facility, but when I awoke at 3 am there was still no conectivity so I'm not sure that is the reason).
The fabric of the restaurants is old and tatty. Food is good but very predictable.

Intially we were going to stop for just one night. The dock hands were there to help us tie up with out our repeatedly calling in. They helped get the electrical plugged in. We recieved 10% off our meal at the local restaurant, which was an exceptional meal. We stayed for two nights. The Marina is well shelter from currents, the local boat traffic is mindful of their wake.We will visit on our way South, later this year

Great location and good respite. Boat US discount. Fuel dock easy access. Nice docks. Clean bath.showers/spacious laundry and boaters library. Nice restaurants and bars on sight.

Helpful friendly staff...Charged for pump out., 2014-04-09
Captain: , brewerton ny (303)

The saff was very prompt and helpful. Watch for the false entrance along side the bridge if you are coming fome the south. The marina itself is fair and some of the old wooden docks around the perimeter are getting near dangerous. I was a little put out by getting charged $16.00 for a pump-out as we left. Most places include this with dockage. Shopping is quite a hike in either direction. I think I will try Palm Cove across the ICW next time fer better convenience to shopping and appears to be slightly less money with Boat US

Good overnight stop., 2014-04-07
Captain: , Gloucester, Virginia (100)

Very convenient as you are right there on the ICW. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are a couple of seafood restaurants within walking distance. Where we were docked we could not access the internet. When you come, tell them you need to be where you can connect to internet. As we were preparing to leave Sunday morning, a staff member delivered the newspaper--nice touch.

Very Professional!, 2014-04-06
Captain: , Fort Myers, Florida (687)

Many thanks to Andy! Needed to drop a crew off to get pick up. Called to see if it was ok. Andy said,"not a problem for a 15 minute stop". Didn't spend a dollar with them, but he still came out and helped with lines. Will over night here on the way South. Very professional!

Excellent Marina and Staff!, 2014-04-02
Captain: , Jacksonville (30)

We came into Beach Marine for one night but ended up staying for three because we so enjoyed it! Brian is a highly capiable and accommodating Dock Master who made us feel very welcome. We were immediately invited to their Tiki party which is held on the last Saturday of every month up at the on-site restaurant, Nippers. Beach Marine provided free food and drinks as well as a raffle.
The Service Department was also very helpful with our impeller replacement which we had done during our stay there.

Diesel & transient dockage, 2014-03-30
Captain: , new bern, NC (110)

Stayed at this marina headed north 3/29/2014. Great crew to help with dockage and very friendly. Nice marina execpt for the price of diesel. Along with another boat we were traveling with we needed 850 gal. of diesel. If you are an annual slip holder fuel discount is 35 cents per gal but transient boaters recieve no discount. This seems that Beach Marine has no interest in Transeints. Palm Cove Marina across waterway was 37 cents per gal cheaper. makes no business since to me.

Great staff and good docking, but no internet, 2014-03-19
Captain: , OsloNorway (10)

If you need to get anything done on the internet don't go in here.
Was not even able to check my mail or the forcast.
However superfriendly staff and good facilities.

Nice stop over, 2014-03-04
Captain: , Fernandina, FL (448)

Came in with some wind and Bryan and crew were great help with docking on the t-dock. Good slip discount with Boat US. Nice facilities, showers and workout room. Ate aboard so didn't use the restaurant discount. Wifi is verrrry slow. Will stop in again.

Great Place!, 2014-01-31
Captain: , Reno NV (10)

Stopped here for an overnight for a pump out, groceries and laundry. We got everything done between 4:00 pm and 11 am the next morning, plus had dinner out at Nippers too. This restaurant would be great to watch the Super Bowl and chow down on Jamaican food.

The staff at the marina were fantastic including Bryan Reid the Dockmaster. Fantastic customer service, as many before us have attested to.

Great place, 2014-01-22
Captain: , Montreal, PQ (141)

Huge, pretty, repair facilities, floating docks, nice shower and laundry facilities, 2 restaurants and friendly helpful staff. What's not to like? One minor complaint, the internet is slowwwww. Dock master says it's because of the live aboards, but we did not see many lights on at night in boats.

excellent service, great staff, 2014-01-15
Captain: , Fairbanks, Alaska (40)

Walt Wilson and the rest of the service department really came through for me after I damaged my rudder in the Saint John's river. They got on the job right away and did a an excellent job getting me back in the water in just a couple of days at a very reasonable price.

Great stop, 2014-01-12
Captain: , Barnegat Light, NJ (210)

Wish we weren't hustling south or we would spend a couple of days. Bryan and his dock hans keep an immaculate marina with great service. Plenty of room to turn and easy on/off floating T-docks

Easy access and convenient, 2014-01-01
Captain: , United States (3192)

This was a nice stop with a decent rate for BoatUS members. With a spring tide going to -0.8', we were on the bottom at low tide in our 6' draft boat. We did not sample the restaurants as we were here on New Years Eve and wanted something nicer, so we walked about a mile over the bridge to Marker 32, adjacent to Palm Cove across the ICW.

There does not seem to be any kind of lounge, and the restroom facilities are a single combined shower/toilet room for each sex, so be prepared to wait if you need to use the facilities.

Had a great experience, would like to see some changes, 2013-12-27
Captain: , palm coast fl (40)

They gave us newspapers ever monring and a smile every time they saw us. The dock master, Bryan Reid, was professional, courteous, and full of great ideas on transportation, things to do, facilities etc. Access was easy and it was easy to dock even with the moderate wind. There were plenty of staff to help us handle our lines. I recommend this marina because of the staff.

There are two restaurants on the property. We liked the Boat House Grill better than Nippers. We thougth the food was better. This marina would get five stars from me if the showers didnt have broken tile and the docks were secured so strangers couldn't just wander in.

We will definitely be back.

Nice people, convient location, 2013-12-21
Captain: , Great Falls, VA (1092)

I needed a part from West Marine so looked for the Marina most convient to get there. I am glad I picked Beach Marine, the dock hands were very friendly, everything was clean and modern. Transients are put on T heads which is always handy for a quick in and out without much fuss. Current was not much of an issue inside the basin. West Marine and Publix grocery store are a reasonable $5 cab ride away. I do wish it was a little cheaper, but hey, its FL, so anything less then $2/foot is "cheap" I guess.

Completely Turned Around Our Bad Day, 2013-12-01
Captain: , New Hope, NC (23)

Had to repair a raw water pump. From the first call checking for parts, these guys started taking care of us and just never stopped. Morris and Roger in service had my parts pulled and waiting, shuffled work around to get us in first thing on a Saturday, it was great. The dock crew sent three guys to catch us and assist with our single engine tie up in 20KT winds. Invited us to their %u201CLast Saturday Party%u201D (free beer, wine Grouper bites and sides) they throw for their dock residence. Two cool bars/restaurants on site great ships store, easy provisioning via cab to Publix (1 mile), excellent mechanic on site and %u201Cyour family%u201D greeting and treatment from everyone on staff. Definitely stopping in on the return trip north.

How many dock masters call you as you leave and thank you for staying with them?, 2013-11-28
Captain: , algoma, WI (140)

When you pull in you get the feeling that you are returning to your home marina. Brian and his staff are there to meet your needs from docking to fueling to pumpout. They are not indifferent to you having selected their marina in which to stay. A full facilities marina that caters to visiting boaters.

Great Stop, 2013-11-13
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1011)

Easy fuel or layover stop right off the ICW. Dockmaster Brian and his well trained and attentive staff make this full service marina a stand out.

A Must Stop Both Ways, 2013-11-09
Captain: , Treasure Island, FL (221)

We've been stopping at Beach Marine in the spring and in the fall for several years. Bryan and his crew do a great job, very efficient, helpful, and welcoming. Previous reviews attest to the two popular beach bar/restaurants right there, so you can have a good time and stretch your legs.

Efficient, friendly, convenient, 2013-11-07
Captain: , Cortez, FL (10)

Stopped for several days, topped up fuel (diesel) etc. Easy access, good fuel dock, all perfect for our Fleming55. The JAX airport is only 35 minuites away, important for us. Very reasonable fuel price. We will return as our schedule permits.

Captain: , Auburn, Maine (447)

Very nice marina. Easy entry, make a right angle turn and head in. Don't cut the corners. 5 foot draft, no problem at 30 minutes after low tide. Bryan is a knowledgeable dock master, and could not be more helpful. Well protected. A good choice for a stop.

Great stopover and getting better, 2013-10-18
Captain: , Miami (40)

At 74 feet with a 6 foot draft, we are lucky to have discovered Beach Marine while heading south on the ICW from the ST. John%u2019s River Inlet. With yachts +100 docked we felt very comfortable heading in. Over the last three years we have docked at Beach Marine for two to three weeks each October on our way down from Maine. Captain Bryan, the dockmaster, takes nothing for granted giving us the same explicit guidance into the marina and to our slip and insures that two dockhands are waiting for us to grab our lines, connect power and our hoses.
Great reliable power, clean modern floating docks and two restaurants with bars and music that make there little reason to venture out to the other thirty restaurants within a five minute drive. Nippers, in the marina, serves some frozen drinks that made us glad we only had a few steps to the boat.
The dockhands are always available and ready to come over and lend a hand. In fact, this year to catch a weather window overnight to Palm Beach, Captain Bryan came to assist our first light fueling on his day off!!! There is no doubt that the Owners and Dockmaster focus on hospitality

Beach Marine, 2013-10-18
Captain: , Athens, GA (130)

We have stayed here twice--we like it alot. It's a great place to rest a day before heading south or north. Dockhands are great and helpful. The restaurants have good food and provide an opportunity to meet the locals.

Using this marina for years, 2013-09-25
Captain: , Jacksonville, Fl (20)

Located right on the ICW, easy access for fuel. Don't miss the choice of 2 restaurants on site. Captain Brien, the dockmaster does a super job!

Great Service, 2013-08-12
Captain: , East Greenwich, RI (660)

We came in for Fuel and found the service at the fuel dock to be outstanding. Very nice people. We have stayed here before and think the people are excelent.

I agree with all that's said, 2013-07-16
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1316)

WiFi will work sometimes... or not. For me 60% online
You'll need a powered antenna for a connection as they don't distribute the signal well.
Was told by management they are working on a solution.
If you're a deep drafted boat, ask for a T-head further into the marina. We sat in the mud at low tide on the second T-head in. (we're 6')
Changed strainers 2 times in 3 days.
Dock Master and staff were friendly and competent.
Management seemed dismissive.

OK, Needs Upgrading, 2013-06-21
Captain: , Jersey City, NJ (190)

But the marina manager couldn't be more helpful. There are two restaurants on site and a fully equipped marine supply store and repair facility.

The way a marina should be, 2013-05-30
Captain: , NY, NY (42)

Great two day stay waiting out a bit of snotty weather.

The Dockmaster, Bryan, is fantastic. He could only have been more helpful if he hopped in the water and scrubbed the bottom.

Didn't have the WIFI issues others have seen. No problems watching a couple of movies via Netflix. However, I met the owners for a few beers and mentioned some of the feedback seen here. They have a new system coming shortly that will be ideal for a marina of this size Unless you get out and visit the onsite bars and restaurant you don't get a good sense of the scale. They must have 400 slips.

WiFi Service, 2013-05-07
Captain: , Key Largo (122)

This is an excellent marina if you do not need reliable internet access, and don't mind the boat next to you being sanded and painted by a marina worker. We docked here for a week, and after the first night could not keep connected to the internet for more than 30 seconds at a time. The dock personnel know this, and are exasperated themselves with fielding the complaints from transients. This is a management issue that is not being addressed, as it appears to be common knowledge that the problem exists.

Good dockmaster, 2013-04-27
Captain: , Washington, N.C. (33)

This place isn't cheap, and the marina is kind of so-so. But the docmaster, Bryan Reid, is a gem -- very energetic, helpful and friendly. He recommended the mac & cheese at one of the adjacent restaurants, and it was yummy. Plus, he got us a discount at the restaurant. He ran out to the dock early the next morning to give us the daily paper. A good guy.

A hidden jewel, 2013-04-16
Captain: , florida (60)

Beach Marine is a true hidden jewel. We stopped there and to our surprise they can accomodate very large boats. The dockmaster Bryan Reid is one of the top dockmasters we have run into in 14 trips up and down the ICW. The staff was truely "can do" and they accomodated our every request. The floating docks are in great shape and with two restaurants on site the food is wonderful. We left at low tide and carried nearly 7 feet all the way to the ICW so water depth should not be a problem.

Pleasant surprise, 2013-04-13
Captain: , CHARLESTON (330)

First time staying here on our trip south. Other than a little shallow at low tide - a very pleasant marina - enjoyed dinner at restaurant Nippers- live music very good food. Fuel docks easy and hi speed pumps. Would definetely stay again. Had our grandchildren and they loved the amusement park across the street!

The Puddle Duck Goes To Florida, 2013-04-10
Captain: , Collingwood (20)

We stayed here on way from Toronto to Florida in the Fall of 2012 and on our way North in April 2013 .We found the facilities to be very good and Bryan Reid and his staff to be extremely helpful in all matters from docking to cast off .We will put this marina on our "must stop " list whenever we pass by either North or South bound .

Service "Above and Beyond", 2013-04-07
Captain: , Evergreen, CO (40)

This my third stop at Beach Marine, this time I was very impressed by the hussle and customer service attitude of the Dock Master, Bryan Reid. Off duty, he went out of his way to help us out. It was a busy marina on Sunday afternoon but there was enough staff and they were very professional.

Good Service, 2013-03-31
Captain: , Lighthouse Point, FL (227)

We called that we would be in late in the evening and they provided us a T-head for the night. We asked for a diver the next morning and they had one under our boat in about an hour. Good place to stop if you need to.

Excellent Service, 2013-03-25
Captain: , isle of palms, sc (10)

We have been stopping here off and on or the years and the marina and its staff have only been so-so, but this year (03/26/2013) we experienced superior service from Bryan Reid and his crew. Would recommend this marina highlt to any boater who needs a layover half-way between St. Augustine and Fernandina.

Solid stopover, 2013-03-13
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

It was very quiet here this time of year (January 2013), but the staff were at the ready to get us in and settled. There were two restaurants onsite and the one called Nippers, served a great dinner and we caught it in a night when they had live music playing songs from the 60%u2019s and 70%u2019s. We met some great locals there at the bar and for a one night stop, was memorable.

Great people, 2013-03-07
Captain: , St Augustine (10)

Was here for about six weeks, very good stay. Dockmaster Bryan and his staff are very accomodating. marina is comfortable and very well protected. Two restaurants on site; Publix grocery, West Marine, Target, other stores and restaurants nearby but a pretty long walk. Live music from the on-site restaurant, but it stops at 10pm. Some slips are shallow for sailboats, but deeper slips are available. Be aware that tidal currents in Pablo Creek can be strong until you get into the marina's protected basin.

Awesome Crew Service!!, 2013-03-06
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (34)

Our thanks to Bryan and his dosk crew for their help in getting us in after hours on our way north. They semained on the dock well after quitting time to make sure we were taken care of.....completely. He came to the boat next morning with a coffee and newspaper for our crew. Could not have asked for a better encounter anywhere!! Takes all of the guesswork out of our next itenerary through that area. We will see you guys again! Thanks!!

Goog place yo stay., 2013-01-25
Captain: , Clearwater FL (685)

We stayed about 6 weeks and found the marina a great place to stay. The staff was very helpful, especially the dock master who was extremely helpful. There are two restaurants on the premises, we were docked behind %u201CNippers%u201D , named after the famous one in Bahamas. They do have live music in an outside area, but it stops at 10pm. ( we liked the music). We will stay there again.

Why so high on fuel?, 2013-01-07
Captain: , Jacksonville, Florida (30)

Pulled in on the 27th of December for fuel. Paid $4.60 a gallon. St. Augustine was @ $4.15. Don't stop here for fuel. I will use St. Augustine or Fernandina from now on.

Nice Marina, But Narrow Fairways, 2012-12-20
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1025)

We stayed only one night and found the marina staff very professional and courteous. There are also two restaurants on site and all the facilities seemed nice and clean. However, we were assigned an inside slip near the bulkhead and, although we draw only 4.5 feet, I do believe we touched bottom during the night. Also, the fairways are pretty narrow when trying to maneuver a 52 foor boat into and out of slips. Overall, though, a very nice marina.

Very well maintained docks, 2012-12-07
Captain: , Algonac, MI (1926)

Brian the dockmaster was very nice. He brought us a newspaper and candy. The Publix is a little over a mile. Docks well maintained, but we opted not to fill our water tanks with the non-potable warning sign.

Much improved, 2012-11-04
Captain: , Stuart, FL (167)

Since our last stay, they had installed new floating docks. The dockmaster Brian is very helpful and is training his staff. The dock they put us is was very tight but their assistance made it easy. With 2 restaurants, Nippers being our favorite, and the beach within walking distance, this is a nice stopover. The channel is less than 6 at low tide, but no issue. The showers were a bit primitive but clean. We have rode out storms in this harbor and it is well protected. We would definitely stay here again.

Good Stop over, 2012-10-30
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL. (90)

Stopped overnight on our way up to Jacksonville for the Fla. Ga. football game. Showers just ok. The restaurants both had live music on Thursday night. At at Billy's Boathouse. Food was ok, Drinks were great.

Basic and nothing else, 2012-10-23
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1146)

Both times I've been here the attendants seemed helpful but after that not interested in helping with anything. Walking distance to a big marine store, and Nipper's is a great resturaunt, but not our most memorable stop.

Good place to tuck in, 2012-06-28
Captain: , GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FL (736)

We stopped here for two days waiting out Tropical Storm Debby. Got a good rate with our Tow Boat US membership. Dock hands helpful and professional. Facilities very good.

Good Experience, 2012-02-06
Captain: , Vero Beach (527)

Came in at high tide. Three helpers to tie up. Unexpected discount at sign in. Marina receipt worth discount in restaurant. Restaurant better than "marina norms."

Showers and head still not so hot. Laundry has new equipment.

Left following morning at dead low (5.5 foot draft). Used their turning basin never saw less than 6.5 out to ICW centerline.

Convenient staging for St Augustine

Watch for Shoaling entering and leaving, 2011-12-20
Captain: , Freeport, Maine (175)

Perfectly nice facility with attentive staff. Good restaurants. However, serious shoaling getting in. No way there is 6' at MLW. Plenty of depth once your inside with a turning basin. Come and go at high tide. I grounded while trying to leave.

Spent Thanksgiving 2011, 2011-11-24
Captain: , sassafras river, md (303)

Needed a stop before I arrived in St. Augustine. Enterance is right before bridge. Fairways between t docks is a little tight. Resturants where all closed due to holiday, but went across channel and had a great meal for 5 bucks, turkey with all the trimings. Plus they have draft beer. Only digital tv so I missed the anuall turkey day football game. Pricey, but dock hands were helpful.

Just stayed one night......................, 2011-11-21
Captain: , Ft. Pierce FL. (221)

But enjoyed it. In my case the dock hands where very accommodating. Their is a shoal at the entrance, so stay as close to the docks as possible, especially at low tide. A little bit spend-y but I'd stop again. Oh, their is a large turnaround basin, well past the fuel dock. I did not see it in time to take advantage of it.

Off my list of places to stay, 2011-10-19
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (1089)

I stayed here once before a few years ago and thought Beach Marine was a "pretty good" marina -- but no longer. It is now what I would call "basic"... very basic. After hailing on the VHF for 15 minutes I finally had to call on the cell phone to let them know we were there. "Oh, I forogt to turn the volume back up on the radio" came a rather dumbfounded response. As we pulled up to the fuel dock (with a good NE wind) the dockhands didn't have a clue how to handle the lines. Then once we got to our slip (which was a simple tie along the T-head), I had to endure it all again. The bath facilities were locked in the morning or the lock code they gave me was incorrect. Of course, there was no one around to ask for help. I always try to keep a good humor about stuff like this, but this really frustrated me.

Great docks, easy stop., 2011-05-21
Captain: , Madison, Ohio (400)

Right on the ICW, nice floating alluminum docks. Restroom/showers need some TLC, main womens restroom/shower had lock missing on door. Need lights replaced in mens shower. New resturant, "Nippers" just opened, good food and music on the Saturday night we were there. 25% Boat US Discount on dockage.

Nice Place, But Watch Your Depths, 2011-04-23
Captain: , Panama City, Florida (521)

We are a 38 foot sailboat with a 5 foot draft. We stayed on one of the nice floating docks west of the fuel dock. The turn to get into the slip was a little tight for us, but we managed to get in without hitting anything. A more manuverable boat would probably not have any problem. The dockmaster was very helpful getting us in and tied up. We were here during extreme tide swings and we were on the bottom at low tide (.8 feet below MLW). The bottom is very soft mud, so it was not a problem but we had to wait for the tide to come in before leaving in the morning. The channel had a foot or two more than we had in the slip. If you think depths might be a problem, consider asking for a spot on the end of the dock next to the channel where it might be a little deeper.

Don't drink the water, 2011-04-09
Captain: , Wilmington Deleware (330)

We stopped here on our way north 3/11. The docks were floating but the north end where we parked was in bad shape, the staff was friendly, but the water was NOT potable.

Overpriced and underperforming, 2011-01-28
Captain: , Indianapolis (56)

Stopped here figuring I'd get some work done. The dockmaster recommended a guy who I contacted. I arranged to stay an extra day to get the work done. The guy never showed and had someone else call three hours after he was supposed to start work to say that he was sick. The marina charges $1.85 a foot and then adds extra for electricity; what you don't get: TV hookup or potable water at the dock ......

Nice facility, but 5 foot shoal across entreance at low tide., 2010-12-21
Captain: , Annapolis (197)

Stay close to the dock. Outer most docks have now working power. Rest of the facility is nice. Shoal at outmost docks to northern shore is 5 foot at low tide. It gets deeper further in, and has a huge turning basin.

Good Energy, 2010-11-15
Captain: , Amelia Island (10)

There was a boat show on property while we were there, really good energy. Staff was really helpful. Nippers from the Bahamas is opening a second location here...we will definitely be back soon. We stocked up on a lot of goods from the their ship store--the prices beat West Marine hands down.

Can be noisy., 2010-11-14
Captain: , Ophelia, VA (849)

With several bars right near the docks, a high rise bridge right next to the marina and a small boat ramp across the canal, the place is pretty busy and can be somewhat noisy.

Website and ads make this marina sound better than it is, 2010-11-10
Captain: , Lansdale, PA (330)

Dock was made of noisy plastic boards, weight room was outdated, restrooms/showers were old and gross, one stop marine store didn't have Waterway guides. Dockhand was nice, but we asked about depths when we made the reservation and again as our depth sounder read less than 5 feet and the dockhand said it should be at least 6 feet. We weren't able to get wifi at our slip. Being able to get fuel at our slip was convenient.

Caution - water on the dock is non-potable, 2010-11-10
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (6077)

No where in their advertisements did they mention that the water on their docks is non-poitable. They use well water and the city requires them to post signs on their docks warning of the non-potable water.

The on-site restaurant is not somewhere I'd want to eat. The laundromat was nice, three washers and dryers and the showers were adequate.

Four large pilings were installed in front of the fuel dock to "portect the fuel dock from boats" according to the marina manager. I remember when the priority was to protect boats from damage by the docks but not at this marina. The person handling our lines are the fuel dock was helpful and changed dock assignment to a T instead of an inside dock - much easier to get to. Otherwise, calm with no wakes.

New floating docks with rubrails are easy to tie up. Clean restrooms and very attentive staff. Easy 1 mile walk to beach, manu restaurants, and Publix.

Avoid this Marina, 2007-12-02
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (11)

Staff indifferent and uninterested. No protection from metal docks. Even with fenders out sustained damage from scrapes on dock. Not worth the repair costs.

helpful, but..., 2007-11-27
Captain: , fairland (2653)

pricey. Get your fenders out. Those nice metal docks have no rub protection. Pretty tight for anything over 40', except for the side to docks on the approach channel. Bridge construction makes this a noisy and very dirty place.
Nov 2007 update: They have opened more tee docks for tansients. New bar on premses. Will take you to shopping is needed.
