Terrific marina, 2016-07-06
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (79)

During the busy July 4th weekend I was transiting my newly-purchased Sea Ray 390 Motor Yacht from Long Island to the Chesapeake. After five hours of diesel drone coming down the Atlantic coast my crew and I were getting worn out, so I decided to tuck into the Little Egg Inlet and make my way to Beach Haven for a pit stop. To keep this review pithy, I ended up getting stuck on a shoal and needing a tow. After getting towed to deeper water I followed the tow captain to Beach Haven Yacht Club. The people there, both employees and slipholders, were terrific and I ended up staying the night in a transient slip. The next morning the tow captain, who keeps his boat at this marina, helped me find a nearby marina that could haul my Sea Ray to check for damage from the grounding. I highly recommend this marina for the friendly service and inexpensive fuel.

Great service at the best price!, 2016-05-31
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (722)

We pulled over en route from Atlantic City to Manasquan to pump out and fuel up. Great equipment, a super convenient location, the best fuel price in New Jersey, and the most pleasant service imaginable ... and this was on a drizzly, windy Memorial Day holiday. Only sunshine could have improved on this visit. Top-notch!

Great Marina, 2016-05-24
Captain: , Fair Haven, New York (249)

Great people, best fuel price in the state, Very good fixed docks. Very accomodating to meet the needs of our elderly dog. I changed my oil and they took care of the old oil for me. I'd give them a 6 if I could.

We stop there every year..., 2015-10-08
Captain: , New Joisey (69)

The first time we stayed, we had not planned a trip, even though it was only down the island a bit. It was July 4th and we anchored out east of the Barnegat town dock to watch the fireworks. We ended up sleeping out and didn't go back to our marina in Waretown for 4 days. When we got to BHYC on the 5th, we took a slip at a reasonable rate for two nights. Meanwhile, we had no shore power cords, no water hoses, etc... like I said, totally unplanned. The folks at BHYC loaned us power cords to run our battery charger and air, along with coax so we could watch cable TV. They loaned us bikes to get around and were just all around super.

Since then, we've stayed a couple of other times including our annual fathers day trip for a few hours to have breakfast at Uncle Will's... a short walk from BHYC. They usually have the best fuel prices around so we normally top off before leaving. Thanks Marlene, to you and your staff.

Friendly,well-found marina, 2015-07-10
Captain: , Pasadena, MD (1496)

The marina was largely distroyed after Hurricane Sandy, and the docks have been fully rebuily. Finger piers are short, so power boats will need to back into slips. Dock electric service is all new. They offer gas and diesel. Diesel prices are the lowest in the region, $2.60 as of 7/4/2015.

The staff here is excellent. Dockmaster Jim and his team are prepared to hop onto your boat or neighboring boats to assist with securing or untying lines. I mentioned to Jim that I planned to move to the fuel dock to top off, and he volunteered to fuel me in the slip, a great convenience.

There is utility house with toilets, showers and washing machines that was not refurnished. It is adequate, but not new. Within easy walking distance are several restaurants, pharmacy, grocery, hardware and many gift shops. The ocean beach is also a reasonably easy walk.

The one downside to the location is that the New Jersey ICW is shallow, and requires rigid attention from the helmsman. Honor the markers, which move relativeky frequently. There are some areas where boats of more than 4' draft will want to traverse at mid-tide or higher. New Jersey boaters are rude and reckless. Transients must stay alert. Do not allow aggressive local boaters to force you out of the channel.

BHYC Marina -, 2015-06-10
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

Stayed here the nights of 5/27/15 - 5/28/15. It was VERY windy when we arrived around 6:30 pm, but even though it was after hours Jim was there to meet us and tie us up. The next day, he loaned us his car to go to the store. Good laundry facilities; fair bath/showers. Great diesel prices. Fixed docks.

Quite a nice place!, 2015-06-01
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

Update May 2015 - We stopped again again continue to be impressed with the helpfulness of the staff. There are some good folks who keep theiir boats here and if you get friendly with them, it can be a great party.

Previous - We stayed for 3 nights and were very impressed by the helpful, friendly staff, especially Chris. The location is excellent; close to almost everything you could need. The beach is great.

The previous comment about the showers was surprising because we found the bathrooms and showers to be very nice relative to the many marinas where we have stayed.

We would definitely stay here again!

Beach Haven Yacht Club (BHYC) - Rating, 2014-08-20
Captain: , Beach Haven, NJ (10)

BHYC has the least expensive gas and diesel in town and likely the cheapest on the Jersey coast. Their gas dock is exposed to W and NW wind but their transient slip right behind the fuel dock is usually available. Using that slip saves getting your boat beaten up on the front of the fuel dock. Always helpful fuel dock personnel. They offer 50 and 30 amp electric. Don't know about WiFi since I do not dock my boat there.

Great Place!, 2014-07-05
Captain: , Everett, Washington (824)

Stayed here for 5 nights over the July 4 holiday and for refuge from Hurricane Arthur. Sue and her crew were great. The marina is new from the repair of Super Storm Sandy. There was a power pedestal issue that was resolved quickly. We got a better rate than that listed here after the first night. Also, diesel was $3.56 a gallon and they had pump nearby our slip. We had south winds and then north ones from Arthur. The slips at the end are more exposed. We were tucked nearest to shore and were very happy with it. The live-aboards and summer residents are very nice. Short walking distance to all the retail in Beach Haven including grocery and a decent marine store. The ocean beach is only a half mile or less. Great bicycle place. Enterprise Rental Car is available in Manahawkin. Nice place for the July 4th with lots going on and a fireworks show.

Nice friendly and comfortable marina close to beach resort activity, 2014-05-28
Captain: , Moyock, NC (1054)

Fixed wood docks in excellent condition with personnel that makes you feel like it's your home, too. Toilet / shower / laundry is small adequate and clean. Good power and water at the dock at no additional charge. It's a little hard to dock when the tide and winds are working against you, but they are experinced with these conditions and everyone pitches in to help. More importantly when the east wind kicked-up breaking waves all across the inlet Susie got us assistance from BoatUS Rick to lead us in.

November 2013 over Thanksgiving holiday...., 2013-12-30
Captain: , Earth (232)

After leaving Manasquan and going inside, we(Columbia28, Islander30, Schooner51) fought wind rain and shoaling in the canal. I (columbia28) ran out of fuel on the inboard and was running on outboard fuel tank. We came upon a local boater who recommended Beach Haven Yacht Club and Marina for best gas price. BHYCM was the best of everything ! Islander fueled first, then it took 45min for me to fuel. I had decided that I was not going further in this weather being soaked and losing my core temp. Chris the dockman was so patient with us, getting us squared away in the pilings to the dock slips. He got us tied off each with 6 lines and some of those doubled in preparation for what was to come. The schooner arrived next for fuel also.It took 6 of us to tie them in.
The rates were more than fair. The showers and restrooms and laundry were clean and warm. The hospitality was unsurpassed! We were taken to a grocery in the storm for supplies. AND, to top it off, we were invited into the owners home for a most delicious Thanksgiving meal!
Hats off and flying high for Marlene and Susan Scott, & Chris, Rick, and Jeano on the dock. What a truly awesome establishment. Their rebuilding after Sandy, and showing such hospitality gave new meaning to JERSEY STRONG ! Thanks so much!

The BEST fuel stop, 2013-10-06
Captain: , Bayfield, WI and the ICW (1390)

Great people, cheapest fuel for miles around ($3.50/gallon for diesel) good restaurants, close groceries and new laundry facilities and docks! Try to arrive somewhere arould slack tide, as docking in a slip can sometimes be a challenge.

Charlie rates as terrific, 2013-08-15
Captain: , Portsmouth, VA (430)

Arrived at the newly rebuilt (Sandy) Beach Haven Yacht Club with some engine problems, warmly received by Chris, Marlene (Owner) made sure we had a slip for our repairs, Suzie drove us a great distance to obtain a rental car, repairs completed with the assistance of Chris and Wade, a boat owner on the dock. Could not have been treated any better; facilities and people terrific, #1. We will return here going back home in a month or so, we never pass without stopping, 5th time in 7 years.

Great Marina and town!, 2013-06-09
Captain: , Lake Simcoe, Ontario (240)

We were tied very well up with help on a windy day! Dock is 90% at least new - replacement of most of the pilings and all deck surfaces after Sandy!

Nice walk up the street to a great grocery store (lots of nice produce and cheeses) in addition to meats and other goods.

We had dinner at the Black Whalre - excellent! One of the nicest dinners we have had out!

Washrooms and showers are in order - laundry replacements are coming soon!

We stopped here on the way down for fuel and a pumpout and were impressed - we would return here! Its a nice trip from there to Manesquan and then around Sandy Hook to either Liberty anchorages or marinas or Atlantic Highlands

A very helpful marina on a windy weekend, 2013-05-27
Captain: , Ashland, OR (122)

We stopped to visit family over the Memorial Day weekend, the wind was forecast to ramp up after our arrival to 20-25 out of the NW. We had our apprehensions, but Chris assured us he would take care of us. HE DID. We are relatively new to long distance cruising but we do know that we would much rather have friendly, supportive marina staff than glamorous facilites. Chris and the crew (and resident boaters) made us feel well cared for during two days of ferocious winds. Chris could be seen in the middle of the night out checking lines and tending to his charges. We wish every marina had staff like Beach Haven.

Teaghlach - Cpt Joan, 2013-05-21
Captain: , Swans Marina (10)

First class assistance in helping us dock in strong winds. The marina is just rebuilding and Chris could not do enough for us.

My Dream - Ted and Sue, 2012-09-04
Captain: , Portland, Oregon (576)

Not only did they have the cheapest diesel north of North Carolina but they talked us into staying the night and we had a peaceful night.

Great Fuel Stop, 2012-07-17
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7374)

Best fuel price we have found in some time, right on the ICW. Did not stay at BHYCM, but fixed piers looked in great condition. Pilings for the longer boats if needed. Rest rooms / shower / laundry also clean and in good conditon. Close to restaurants, beach, local shopping.

good but....., 2012-06-19
Captain: , Louisville, KY (347)

As stated, convenient, good people, several nearby attractions and restaurants. Now for the BUT. The showers coould be hatching some alien life forms. I haven't seen mildew that bad in a shower since college. Other than that, no complaints.

Good Marina in a Great Spot!, 2012-05-30
Captain: , Bayville, NJ (10)

Our sailboat club visits this marina every Spring. The dock master and staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The location is ideal to walk to shops, resturaunts, and the beach. The bathrooms and showers are clean and modern. They offer guests the use of gas grills and picnic tables, enough for a party of 30. Nice place to stay on LBI. Be aware that there can be significant current when docking. We generally try to arrive or depart near slack current to make docking easier. Bring long dock lines because the slips are large. Hail the marina on channel 16 as you approach and they will do a good job of helping you dock.

Great Marina!, 2011-09-06
Captain: , Island Heights (340)

The price is right for slips and fuel. If slight rocking at night bothers you, only stay here on light wind nights. Heads and showers are tight but clean. Beach tags available to borrow. Close to restaurants and stores. Beach is a 10 minute walk. Stay here. you will come back!!!

Family run and long on service, 2010-08-06
Captain: , Stratford, CT (146)

Prior reviews are accurate through July 2010. We left the boat here for a week and rented a car to go home and take care of some business. They watched and took care of her while I was away like she was their own.

This is a family run operation and as visitors we were treated like old friends. Best fuel price, good location, great restaurants, beaches nearby and a competent and friendly staff.

Friendly people, 2010-05-26
Captain: , Foley, AL (985)

A nice to stop if you didn't stop at Atlantic City. Easy to get in and out of. Diesel was at $2.57 on 5/25/10. You can take bikes into town and ride for miles and miles. A short walk to the beach for sunrises and watch the sunset at the end of the dock.
The laundry room 2 w 3 d is open to the public as well.

Decent place, nice people, 2010-04-22
Captain: , Brick, NJ (193)

Cheapest fuel on the bay, cheesy bathrooms, can get rough with straight north or south wind.

Great location, 2007-08-26
Captain: , Oxford, MD (4)

For the New Jersey shore a decent marina. A happening town is very nearby with shops, restaurants and bars. The beach is a few blocks and the nature preserve 3 miles away, is beautiful. If you have a dog there is an unofficial dog beach about 1/2 mile away on the bay side. Best to visit Monday through Wednesday to avoid the crowds and don't stray from the channel or you will need towing help.

Acceptable Marina, 2007-06-28
Captain: , New Bern, NC (197)

Only facility in area with transient slips, Dock hand May is very helpful and always pleasant. The facility has a rustic charm. Bikes and beach passes are available and FREE. Plenty of family activities within walking distance. Daytime can be a little rough due to boat traffic on ICW which passes just off the fuel dock. Overall nice place to visit.
