Reviews for Beach Gardens Hotel and Marina
Handy Stopover, 2016-09-06
Captain: , Seattle (60)

The docks definitely need some love. Dry rot abounds so check the integrity of the rail you're tied off to before you go to bed. Protection isn't perfect. We bounced against the dock for the duration of a 20 knot northwesterly but it was preferable to being out in the strait. For $3 per person you get access to the indoor pool and showers. The men's shower was a fantastic high pressure experience but no hot water in the ladies'. Since we had the place to ourselves, my wife and daughter just showered in the men's. The kids loved the pool and we all got a kick out of the time capsule beach scene mural. Dinner at the restaurant was above average and the funky nautical theme complemented the overall shaggy marina experience. We'll definitely be back on our way to or from Desolation.

Not the best value., 2014-06-16

Looks like a few dock rails need replacement. Dumpster locked, for $60 you would think trash was included? Wifi not working. Extra $7.50 if you want power.

Water tastes good.

Handy spot though.

Nice to hear this place is improving. It needed a bit of a facelift and there really is not much close by here. Lovely view to the south and often see silver on the water here.

The Beach Gardens has put quite a bit of effort into reviving itself. There is a liquor store at the end of the dock, as a decent resturant with a nice outside patio and fireplace. There is a well provisioned dive shop on site as well. I've never stayed in the hotel, but many of the travelers to Powell River prefer it the other hotels in the area. Cooper Boating is well established here. The winter storms are fantastic here. The Grief Point weather station is on the breakwater here. Hurricane force occurs several times a winter!
