Reviews for Baytowne Marina at Sandestin
Standard rate and Looper discount are now higher, 2016-11-09
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2709)

We were disappointed that the dock rates had jumped so much since the last post, but it really was a pretty upscale place and we had a great time for our one day stay. Things are pretty spread out, and the recommended golf cart rental would have been handy, but not for us at $70 per day.

Loopers...good stop here, 2016-01-09
Captain: , Yorktown, VA (300)

After replenishing at the Ft Walton free dock the previous night, and with thunderstorms in the forecast for next few days, we decided this would be a good place to wait out the crummy weather. Quite a step up from the free dock the previous night...top notch resort amenities, many of them free and a plethora of restaurants right at the end of the dock. A short bike ride away is another complex with a movie theatre and even more restaurants. Plenty of depth in channel...over 9 ft at low tide. Looper rate of $2 foot. The whole dock now has a security gate that is closed at night and requires a code to open. Very quiet on the docks this time of year. Good WIFI.

Great spot when the weather turns against you, 2015-11-16
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

We needed a place to sit for two days as a large storm passed by. This fit the bill nicely. The docks are very good (the only minor complaint is they need a bit more light at night as walking back to the boat after dinner was a bit scary). And given how tucked in the marina is this is a very secure place in a storm. We were in easy walking distance to a very nice shopping area that between it and the movie theatre made for a great rain delay location.

Great place to stop, 2015-10-22
Captain: , Shalimar, FL (20)

Spent 1 night there for the annual Beer Fest. I was impressed by their professionalism and catering to my needs. Will visit again!

Excellent Service, 2015-05-19
Captain: , santa barbara (696)

Marina is close to 100% occupied so definitely call in advance - staff is friendly and helpful, services good, amenities are excellent. A bit pricey but almost everything you need is available and within walking distance; Captain Ron & staff do a great job.

Pet Friendly Grounds, 2015-05-16
Captain: , Slidell, La. (1055)

Easy in and out. Great Resturants and Shops to wander around.
Every place was Pet Friendly. Friendly Staff to assist in Docking. Good WiFi, Clean Restrooms, Bikes, Trails, Water Sports, Tennis, etc. Two sets of washers and driers and both were empty while we were there. A bit pricy a $3.50 per foot but can understand why.

Excellent Location -- Capt Ron is the Best!, 2015-05-02
Captain: , Prattville, AL (280)

We stayed just two nights while heading west and would have gladly stayed longer. The marina restaurant is very good and the nearby village -- just a pleasant five-minute walk -- is chock full of restaurants, shops, and activities.

Capt Ron, the dockmaster, was fabulous both on the phone and in person.

The fixed docks are best if you go in stern first and you'll have to tie to rough wood pilings, so bring protection for your lines or expect some abrasions.

The discount for AGLCA members is excellent, but the special rates end as the summer season begins.

Winter Wonderland for a looper behind schedule, 2014-12-20
Captain: , Nashville (108)

Fantastic accomodations and discounts for Loopers. Even had complementary bikes, tennis and kayaks. Even beach front facilities are part of the 2400 ac. resort with shopping, resturants and activities galore. Spent 4 days due to some repairs (II Tony's Marine is superb) and frequents the marina. If you have kids or animals on board you won't find a better place for 90 miles east or west. If you arrive in Spring or Summer expect LOTS of activity otherwise, you have the place all to your own.

Resort Stop, 2014-12-08
Captain: , Holland (270)

This was a great stop for us. The dock master was welcoming and the dock attendant super helpful. The looper rate was $2/ft, discounted from $3.25 (including electric and water and cable), diesel was $3.95 and the pump out free.
The property is a resort with shopping and lots of restaurants and other upscale amenties. The restrooms and showers were clean and there was laundry.

transient day at the village, 2014-11-29
Captain: , Navarre Fl (24)

called ahead so they were expecting us. Capt. Greg slid us right between to bigger Yachts on the South wall. no charge if not staying overnight. fuel price was $5.20 per gallon for unleaded and transient price was $3.25 per foot. friendly staff but the owners of the bigger yachts were rude with the golf carts on the dock. about knocked me and my kids of the dock as they rounded a corner very fast. otherwise great area quiet and deep well marked approach

Great stop!, 2014-11-07
Captain: , Petoskey MI (240)

Stopped here for two nights in early November. Good decision. Plenty of water for our nearly 5 foot draft. Lots of assistance docking. Called the dock master, Capt Ron, the day before. He called right back and took care of everything. Friendly staff. Newspaper delivered each morning. Nice little Bar & Grill at the end of the dock. Many other choices for dining within easy walking distance on the boardwalk. Laundry and restrooms easily accessed and well maintained. Free use of the shuttle that runs all over the Sandestin resort area including beaches, pools, tennis and more. AND a looper rate of $2/foot. A good rate considering all of the amenities.

Mixed Experience, 2014-07-13
Captain: , Johns Creek Georgia (140)

In July 2014 my wife and I stayed for four nights at Baytowne Marina. It is a first class facility with great service but we had a few issues. The dock is shaped like a gigantic "F" and they put transients on the long, main dock. This is a big place, so they use golf carts to travel to the large yachts tied further down the dock. Plus there is a dinner cruise most nights, which means a few hundred strangers walking by your boat. All in all, there is a lot of traffic on the dock. Consequently, the docks are as dirty as I have ever experienced and we had to spray the boat down everyday. We finally left our shoes and sandals on the dock. There is no security patroling the the marina and no gated entry to the docks. On our third night, we were awakened by our boat being boarded by two thieves. I came out of the cabin to see two guys walking down the dock with my large Yeti cooler. After yelling and threatening them, they dropped it and ran. We have cruised alot but that is the first time we have experienced theft. The marina is very convenient to all the restaurants of HarborTown. We would probably return but for just one night at a time.

Rather anchor in a storm, 2013-11-07
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

Golf carts running up and down wooden docks all night. No answer on Ch 16 or phone upon our arrival. 1.3' of water below keel (4.2' draft) on face dock. No pump out as large yacht blocked only station at fuel dock for 3 hours while refueling.

nice but expensive, 2013-04-08
Captain: , Thibodaux, Louisiana (190)

The marina is nice with many things to do in the Baytowne and Sandestin resorts. the docks are fixed wooden. They met us at the slip and assited docking and pumpout. I did find it very expensive the posted transient rate is 3.75 a foot and diesel pump showed 4.70 per gallon.
We were there Easter/ spring break week so it was busy with golf carts zooming back and forth on the docks.
There weren't many empty slips so they must have someting right.

Great Stop, 2012-12-19
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1787)

This is a beautful well run marina with gobs of amenities as it is part of a huge resort. There is a convenience store on site. Many restaurants and attractions. This is a world class resort. The only thing preventing a 5 star rating is the price. AGLCA discount brought it down to $2 per foot but that was enough to cut our stay short. Too bad.

Baytowne Marina, 2012-10-02
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, FL (603)

We are fans of Capt Ron. This is a great stop and now has good free Wi-Fi. Now $3.00 per foot. Fuel is expensive. We have not found a place with more upscale amenities in our travels. All Sandestin facilities are available to marina guests - golf, tennis, restaurants, etc. Not a gas and go stop; there is much to see and do.

Great Marina, 2012-09-03
Captain: , Josephine Alabama (183)

This is a great marina. Has all amenities. Very dog friendly. The marina personnel are first rate. Our only negative is the allowance of golf carts on the docks. When getting off your boat you better look both ways or you will get run over.

excellent place to stay with excellent service throughout

Cool place!, 2010-07-06
Captain: , Destin, FL (160)

Nice marina, helpful staff, close to restaurants, and cycle distance to a large grocery store. Baytown is a planned pedestrian village and really cool place for kids. Cool place!

What a GIMICK, 2010-06-13
Captain: , Shreveport, Louisiana (50)

Nice RESORT! Damn Golf cart running up and the dock all nite! Capt Ron does his best to make your stay a good one. Dockage is WAY over priced! $2.75 per ft to dock on a pier with power and water(not a slip)! 1.25 HIGHER than anywhere else.
Resort has pools, golf, food everywhere!

Small Sailboat Cruising, 2009-05-19
Captain: , Carrabelle (364)

This looks like a terrific marina but when I pulled up in my 19' sailboat, Capt Ron did not seem to anxious to have me hanging about. My boat appeared to be the smallest by 40 feet! I was turned away when I requested a transient slip and, after purchasing 3 gals of gas, Capt Ron was only too happy to help me untie my ropes and get me on my way. I am sure that the experience would be different with a larger boat but for the small boaters, you might want to land elsewhere.

Great Trip, 2007-09-22
Captain: , North GA Mountains (649)

Spent a week. Great stop. Capt. Ron did everything he could to make our stay a good one. Great night life just down the board walk.

Expensive Fuel, 2007-04-07
Captain: , Charleston (105)

Nice marina. Close to good restaurants. Diesel was 30 cents per gallon more than the Wharf to the west or Bay Point to the east. Service was mediocre. Only one guy there and he was very hassled.

Fun Place, 2007-03-01
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1236)

If you like crowds, shopping , golf, and good restaurants.
I think the marina is overpriced but the whole complex is very nice.
Marina is a 3 but the whole complex is a 5.
