Reviews for Bay Shore Marine
Poor service at parts sales, 2017-07-07
Captain: , Jersey City, NJ (82)

Have not used them for engine service but purchased engine parts a few times. They usually have what you might be looking for. However, always with an attitude, it feels like I am annoying them by walking into the store. On top of that, they charge an arbitrary $1 Shipping & Handling Fee for in-store purchases. Who does that? Experience with the service team might be different based on the previous reviews.

Dependable and good, 2016-11-16

A customer had their Valiant 42 repowered by Bayshore Marine. I got involved in the middle of the exercise. Bayshore worked with me to meet our customer's schedule issues, resolved some warranty issues promptly, and were overall accommodating. They are very good at scheduling the same person so you are not bounced around from one technician to another. Nick, who was the lead tech doing the work and my primary point of contact was very helpful and communicative. He showed up when he said he would, was personable and helpful, and very good at identifying issues.

I had minimal contact with the office. Kim in service was very helpful; much thanks to her for scheduling support. Claude in parts can be a little gruff. I think he has been faced with too many stupid questions. *grin* He does get what you need and is clear and honest about the time to special order parts and that helps.

If you need a part they have it, 2015-09-14

We get our spares for our Yanmar here. They always have what we need in stock and are pretty easy to work with. Haven't used them for a repair yet, but based on what I've heard I would not hesitate.

Best place in Annapolis to service your engive, 2015-06-15

Their techs are knowledgeable and friendly. If you are on board will take the time to explain the work ect. I service both my boats here.

fantastic service, even by US standards, 2014-06-26

Having been struck by a Yanmar waterpump problem, we contacted Bay Shore vis email and then a phone call; we got good advice and the parts were UPS delivered to us in Portsmouth, Virginia less than eighteen hours after we'd placed our order.

Great Servicde, 2012-09-25

My Yanmar 3HN35F seawater cooling pump developed a leaking seal.
We called BayShore while we were transiting the Bay on a Friday afternoon. They searched their inventory and found the correct part. We were unable to get to their shop before closing on Saturday so they made arrangements for us to get the part after hours. I picked up the pump and replaced while on a mooring in Annapolis. Because of their fine service we could relax and enjoy our stay in Annapolis.

Customer service done right, 2012-08-22

I have used Bay Shore Marine as the primary source for parts on my Northern Lights generator as well as for my John Deere main for a number of years. I have also had them do service work on both and have always been quite satisfied.

This morning, my generator decided to act up while I was charging my batteries and I had to shut it down. I performed the routine checks to ensure that I was not in danger of damaging the unit and then attempted to start it again without luck. After about 1 hour of doing more extensive checks, I was baffled. I called Bay Shore Service and spoke with the service department. they put me through to one of the guys that works on the NL generators. After describing the symptoms, he pointed me to several potential causes. He was spot on and I was was able to take care of the issue relatively quickly.

It is a pleasure to do business with a company that will spend the time to provide this level of customer service.

The place in Annapolis for engine parts!, 2012-02-05
Captain: , Hollywood, Maryland (40)

Have an old Yanmar 3GM30F(C) and the parts manual is deceptive at best. These guys had every part I required in stock. They also had the knowledge to decipher the Japanese method of part(s) nomenclature to ensure that I walked out with everything I needed the first time. No return visit(s) required and magnificent attitudes! Excellent inventory. Definitely the place to go for engine parts in Annapolis.

Not only good at what they did, but they were willing to teach me, 2011-10-06

I had a problem with the 4JHBE Yanmar diesel in my IP38: smoking excessively. I called and asked if they could help me out and they said they could, and they did. My rating of 4 out of 5 would have been 5 were it not for the hassle of finding a place for them to do the work, and the woman on the phone was not much help in that regard. They don't have a service dock or an arrangement with any marina to work on boats. You have to find a place yourself and pay the slip fee in addition to the cost for the work to be done. It was not initially clear to me that's how it worked, but after I got that, I found a place, filled out the serivce work order, emailed it back to Bay Shore Marine on Friday, and waited for a response - which did not come. I called them back Monday and then she made the arrangements and they were at the dock as soon as I got there as agreed.

Andrew, the technician who did the work, was excellent and rather amusing to have a conversation with as he worked. I know some about diesels, but not enough and I asked if he would teach me about what he was doing, why, and how he was resolving the issue. He did that and more.

I am very satisfied with the final results and would not hesitate to recommend Bay Shore Marine.

BTW, labor rate was $115/hour, which is what you would expect in this neck of the woods.

Top Class!, 2008-03-31

These guys are great.

I broke down at the marina across the parking lot, and walked over to be suprized that they have everything and anything you'd ever want.

They had parts for my ancient atomic four in stock! I bought a new orbordorfer water pump and a few impellers, pulled the old off and found the pump was fine. Walked back over, "No Problem!" Set it on the table and returned it was.

When they didn't have a screw of the perfect size for the one that was on my throttle cable, and ended up in the bilge... they refered me to a hand full of other places, but suggested a little hardware store in Annapolis that would have it and not charge through their nose. Walked in and they had it, and a few other things I needed.

These guys even had a top knotch recomendation for lunch within walking distance for the best crab cake I had on the trip.

Give them a call, they aren't just parts guys. They told me what size bolts I'd find and gave me a good enough description over the phone to find the grease cup on the water pump while it was bolted on. (No small feat, you can't even see it!)
