Reviews for Bay Port Yachting Centre
Nice Marina, 2016-08-13
Captain: , Bedford, NH (625)

We stayed one night, Aug 11. Staff at fuel dock was wonderful, very professional. Didn't use the facilities so can't comment on those. Office is a bit of a walk from where we were docked. Town is quite a long walk. Too far for me, arthritic knee can't do it. Husband walked to town for Chinese take-out which was very good.

Great place well protected, 2015-09-09
Captain: , Cape Coral (221)

I can confirm the positiv comments. We stayed twice 3 days here and enjoid the service. The WIFI didn't work, but we could go to the office and connect there. Employe are very friendly, they treat you as a client!

one of the best on the loop, 2015-08-05
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

Excellent staff, top notch facilities, convenient location and exceptional service. Scott is a rare resource, has deep knowledge of Georgian bay and is happy to take the time to share it with you. They'll even drive you in to town for shopping.

best spot in awhile, 2015-07-23
Captain: , South Portland, Maine (847)

The good people here helped with a chartplotter issue and Scott gave us a generous portio of his time to provide a great review of the places to come going west to Killarney. Looper discount on dockage and fuel also a treat. This is must stop if you are in the area and need to get off the Bay or just want to refresh after the TSW. A bike ride to the restored Indian Village at the other end of town was a huge pleasant surprise and not one we would have done had we not had 2 days to wait for parts.

We wlll definate;y stay again

great marina, even better service, 2015-06-27
Captain: , Bayou Bonfouca, LA- Great Loop Cruiser (708)

I thought I'd be "gun shy" about getting any work done by another yard after my terrible experience in NY.
I'm glad I stopped in to Bay Port!!
The staff here is wonderful! Friendly professional and prompt.
I highly recommend Bay Port.

Marked our charts for us, 2015-06-11
Captain: , Fish Creek, WI (41)

A very nice facility. Have our own bikes so a nice ride to town. Scott Cain stayed late one evening and spent a lot of time marking our charts and explaining anchorages for a boat over 50'. It was very helpful! He also said to call any time if I had questions. Such service! Had great wifi which we really appreciate.

A must stop before Georgian Bay, 2014-08-24
Captain: , Everett WA (413)

Update, six month and 100 marinas later, I think this May very well be the top marina on my loop.

Excellent facility, top of the line service and wonderful staff. But that's not the reason this stop is a must. The GM and the manager spent over two hours marking charts for a group of loopers. Between them they know the Georgian Bay inside and out. Fantastic local knowledge about a potentially difficult area.

All of this changed a scary area (granite bottom, bent props, etc.) into a very easy and fun time.

It Is Beautiful, 2014-07-27
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

We spent from 7-22-14 to 7-28-14 (If weather clears) and this place is FIRST CLASS. The staff is energetic, enthusiastic and really go the extra mile. Very Looper Friendly. We had fiberglass repairs to our dingy at a fair price and Chris Balsdom is a craftsman. Ken McDonald, a Director of Parkbridge went over all the Georgian Bay Charts. Brian Berriault Operations Manager and Scott Cain, CMM, General Manager along with Larry Robitaille Service Manager did a great job co-ordinating our dingy repairs. Patricia French , Office Administrator and the other girls on the reservation desk do a super job as well. The entire Staff here works great as a TEAM. Go Team!
This is a tough place to leave. We will definitely miss this place.
Capt Helen & Chief Engr Bob, Onboard M/Y ALLEZ!

Very helpful staff - everyone, 2014-07-21
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Great stay, staff went overboard to make our visit pleasant. Radio call on 68 answered immediately, quick slip assignment, and dock hands to help with docking and offer to take our garbage off. Completely stocked chandlery, help going over Georgian Bay charts with many suggestion. Shuttle into town for groceries and dining. Staff should have mentioned the bike trail into downtown (10 minutes by bike or 30 minutes walking.) You could dinghy over just as easily. Very clean restrooms/showers and plenty of them. Only negatives were limited dog walking area and largeness of the marina itself.

Excellant stop, 2014-07-21
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (919)

Beautiful marina with a staff that bend over backwards for you. Individual restrooms each with a shower. Had to have a alternator rebuilt in town by a local shop so stayed a few days longer. No restaurants or stores nearby by but they will drive you and pick you up. The town is a 10 minute bike ride along a bike path. Can't say enough about Ken Macdonald who gave 5 of us a 2 hour brief on routes and anchorages.

Great stop after the Trent, 2014-07-07
Captain: , Fort worth (172)

Very Looper friendly. We needed new packing for our stuffing box and an oil change when we got in. They completed it all in 2 hours the next(Monday) morning. Very good diesel price of 1.43 a liter.
The staff is very attentive and bent over backwards for us. Not loaner car but they took us into town and picked us up 2 days in a row.
I'd stop here any day.

Great Marina!, 2014-06-26
Captain: , Meadville MS (76)

We were told at the Big Chute we had a bit of propeller damage after hitting bottom at Lock 22. We docked on Wednesday at Bay Port and had propellers off and 2nd set on by Thursday mid morning. Our second set back by Monday retooled. We noticed on Sunday that our inventor/charger was not charging. They came right over on Monday morning and we were ready to go. We can not say enough on the service we received, from going over charts with us, taking us to town when ever we wanted to go, the sercurity guard will pick you up after dinner. A great place to stop even if you don't need repairs. The staff takes great pride in the comfort of their boaters.

Great Place To Stay & Get Service, 2013-08-23
Captain: , Burnt Store Marina (70)

One of the finest marinas since we left Mystic, CT on May 27. Be sure to introduce yourself to General Manager, Ken MacDonald, who has a life ime of Georgian Bay experience that he's willing to share with anyone who asks. We had expressed some concern about going under the highway bridge at Port Severn, and he even volunteered to come join us on the boat and guide us through. This is a must stop in our opinion.

One of the best marinas we've ever been in !, 2013-08-08
Captain: , Falmouth, Maine (40)

Bay Port does it all. Their staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, they have $.20 discount for fuel for Loopers and a third day free dockage after two for anyone. They give you a car to go to town or West Marine or to provision. The owner and Marine Store manger will give you an hour review of the best places in Georgian Bay to stay in marinas or anchorages and what to avoid in rocky areas. For large groups of Loopers, they sponsor a cocktail party to get to know each other. They sell a large amount of marine suplies and can do all sorts of repairs. What more can I say !

Outstanding Facility, 2012-07-29
Captain: , Wilton, CT (70)

Best restrooms in 5 weeks of cruising from New York through Trent Severn. Flawless reservation, arrival procedures and dock staff. Bit of a hike from town, but Midland is nevertheless a great refresh/restock destination.

Customer Service & Expertise, 2012-07-26
Captain: , Gore Bay (80)

Kept a boat here for many years before moving to another port. Stopped back while Looping and found the place as good as ever. The management and staff go above and beyond to assist cruisers whether that be giving you a ride for supplies or lending you a vehicle. If you are in need of any type of repair they have the equipment, parts and expertise to handle virtually any job. Not the least expensive place around as others have noted but you get what you pay for and they stand behind their work. Midland is a great spot to re-provision and recoup.

Spent the winter here, 2012-06-11
Captain: , Clearwater, FL (150)

We finished up last season's loop cruising here at Bay Port YC. Checked around at other marinas in the area and found this one to be the best, albeit pricey. We paid for storage, shrink wrap and complete boat waxing. No surprises, although its probably the most expensive place we've stored up to now. One negative was that one of the pilot house strataglas windows was broken when we returned and I surmise it was done when shrink wrapping. Asked them to replace it which they agreed to do and I gave them the mate from the other side to match up and replace which they did. They charged me about $400 for the one window which is about 2x what it should have been. I suspect they doubled the cost to cover the broken one. Left me with a bad feeling after an overall good experience. Lesson - always ask for the quote before hand.

Bayport Yachting Centre, 2011-09-22
Captain: , Keswick, Ontario (167)

A great Marina and first class service. We often stop here after transiting the locks from Lake Simcoe to Georgian Bay. It is a good jumpimng off point for places farther Nrth in Georgian Bay or Lake Huron. Downton Midland is just a 5 minute dinghy ride across the harbour.

Bay Port Yachting Center, 2011-08-21
Captain: , Hampton, VA (389)

Inconceivable needed some repair work to be done and Ken McDonald checked our props and personally took our rudder to be repaired. The staff are all top notch and Inconceivable is running better than ever! There are several bath houses and a nice size laundry facility. The pool and playground were nice to have for our kids to play on while the boat was on the hard. The staff will drive you into town. We really enjoyed our dinner at The Library. There is a Wal-Mart several miles away, a little to far to bike or walk to.

This is a BIG marina, 2011-08-05
Captain: , Calgary, Alberta, Canada (854)

With somewhere between 600 and 800 slips, this is a big place! In spite of this, it appears to be incredibly well organized. Under the supervision of manager Ken MacDonald and the dock master Andy Zuidema, the staff are friendly, competent and energetic. (They even ask if they can cart your garbage away after you dock) The washrooms are plentiful and spotless, although it's a bit of a walk if you're in one of the outside slips. The chandlrey is incredibly well stocked (best I've ever seen at a marina) and the have a 75,000 lb lift to handle those really big boats that like to cruise on the Great Lakes.

Well protected and well run, 2011-07-25
Captain: , Warsaw, Ky (875)

Good place to stage before entering the outside run on Georgian Bay. Facility is well kept and clean. Restrooms are clean and plentiful.

Andy and his staff is very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Staff and local boaters are willing to assist you in navigating the Bay. One of the local boaters we met graciously gave us muffins for our next days journey.

Friendly atmosphere.

Very nice marina and good service dept., 2011-07-09
Captain: , Red Wing, MN (384)

Great place to stop after the Trent Severn waterway. They are able to handle almost any problem you may have on your boat. Service dept is very responsive, listens to your concerns, and seems to really have a goal of providing a quality outcome.

Full size marina, 2010-09-04
Captain: , Memphis TN (977)

All services. Maintenance crew. short walk to town. Big marina.
Take a taxi out to the Shrine Church and the St Maries fort across the street. Good to visit.

Fuel is expensive, 2010-08-21
Captain: , Elizabeth City, NC (241)

Very beautiful marina. First time we have ever put $1800 in the tank. Should have been closer to $1000. Watch out for ants on the chairs by the fuel dock. Pump out was free first fueling and $30 per tank second time.

FL in Ontario, 2010-07-23
Captain: , Chattanooga (327)

Huge marina with top quality facilities, services and ships store. We hadn't seen this large a facility with as many boats since FL. Had a great pool which was nice as we hit there in the midst of a Canadian heat wave. Stayed for a couple of days in July. Have a loopers rate of 1.50/ft if you ask.

Not Perfect, but probably the best in the area, 2010-03-12
Captain: , Midland (70)

I've been at Bayport for a year now. Their prices are fair, and if you keep on top of things (to make sure things don't get forgotten or missed), then their staf are quite good.
Grounds are kept very clean (staff sweep the docks very early in the morning to make sure and goose poop is gone when boaters wake up).
Chandlery is top notch. Great selection and prices are as good or better than the West Marine in town. The parts guys can locate and get ANYTHING fast - and still be competitive in prices.
Mechanics are good and there are a number of them. Their dielel guys know their stuff and are very concerned about doing quality work.
Office staff is friendly and helpful.
Docks are in good condition.
Bathrooms are located close to each of the docks. There is never a line to get a shower at Bayport!
Paved parking lot (helps keep boats and cars cleaner). Althoug construction nearby doesn't help.
They are an efficient operation. Spring and fall works more efficiently and better than any other marina I've seen.

I had bow and stern thrusters installed and their prices were better than anybody elses, and their reputation was top notch too (something I was concerned about when somebody is cutting a big hole in my boat!)

Absolutely amazing people, 2008-07-29
Captain: , Summerside PE (23)

This marina easily gets five stars. Good slips, excellent pricing, services (mast stepping), boat hauling, free internet, everything a cruiser wants, I am very, very pleased with this marina.

Bay Port Yachting Centre, 2007-11-19
