Reviews for Bay Point Marina
Awesome Place!, 2017-06-14
Captain: , Houston (10)

Called here late in day and spoke with Cassie (who is incrediblly friendly), she offered to stay late and keep fuel dock open for us. We decided to spend an extra day there and dinghy to Shell Island. Great Pizza on-site, great stop!

Nice mark an w. great staff, 2017-03-16
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (20)

We stopped in for a night on our way back to Texas. Spoke with Cassie before arrival. She was very accommodating and eager to make room for us. On arrival, the fuel dock had a full welcome party to help us pump out and refuel. We didn't have to do a thing; Daniel and his crew did the it all. Nice to find a friendly welcome after a long day on he water. Clean showers and restrooms. They get our recommendation.

Great Marina - Very supportive staff, 2017-02-18
Captain: , Grafton, Il (104)

Agree with other reviewers - very sheltered except for a strong blow from SW if on the long dock. Very helpful staff, free newspaper delivered in morning. Beautiful gated surroundings with plenty of parking near docks. Be aware that substantial dock repairs are scheduled to begin in March 2017 so dock availability may be affected during that time. Only reason for four and not 5 stars are the fixed docks with a dock height that presented a challenge to getting on and off the boat despite 3 different deck heights available on our boat (53' pilothouse) - not a severe problem, just a hassle. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Service!, 2017-01-06
Captain: , Marco Island, Florida (303)

We were towed into Bay Point Marina by Tow BoatUS because of engine problems. The staff at Bay Point Marina, Daniel, the Harbor Master, and Cassie, the Office Manager, went above and beyond to assist and accommodate us and our needs. Luckily our engine problems were easily solved, so we only stayed one night. We will definitely return to Bay Point Marina in the future, when we can enjoy the surroundings and the amenities. The dockage rates were very reasonable and there were Boat US and Active Captain discounts available.

great marina, 2016-10-28
Captain: , muskegon mi (10)

loopers dont miss this gem good price $1/ft great pool area and helpful staff they also own port st joes and with there suggestion because of wind direction we came out the pass and down the ocean great trip 15 miles shorter take your time and catch both!!!

Very well run, 2016-06-01
Captain: , New Orleans (193)

We spent a week scuba diving the Panama City artificial reefs and used Bay Point as a base. Very friendly and accomodating staff. The place is very well maintained and in beautiful surroundings. Very secure as well. The restaurants were being renovated when we were there in mid May, 2016 but should be back in action and better than before.

Fantastic service..., 2016-05-05
Captain: , Kemah (10)

Called 10 minutes prior to arrival confirm fuel dock was available - they said "yes". Arrived to find Kip ready to help us in. Very helpful - also helped us into our transient slip. Everyone was friendly - highly recommend this place. NOTE... Be sure to ask about water depths around fairways - we got stuck with 4.5' sailboat draft. Wiggled it out - dock neighbor didn't laugh - says everyone does it. Filled water tank. Didn't use electricity - can't comment on it.

Captain: , santa barbara (760)

Left boat here for 2 months - very secure with great neighbors - perhaps the most friendly and helpful every experienced. Shopping close by but requires a short drive or cab ride. Marina also manages Pt. St. Joe - both well run.

Great Place, 2014-08-29
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

I stayed at BPM for 3 weeks when the Admiral went home the dock hands are all excelent all with a good prospective of the area. Mariina was always clean, a paper is delivered to your step daily and don't forget those fresh donuts on the weekend. PCB is easy to get around. Who knows this could become our new home when all is done.

Comments from Managment, 2014-08-25
Captain: , Bay Point Marina (60)

In Reguards to the previous posting about an unauthorized credit card charge. By signing a dockage agrrement at any marina you are agreeing to pay for the time your vessel was at a facitlty. I can assure any furture guest of the marina that this matter was handled and handled professionally. We are a very large facility with almost 200 boats inside a gated community. With that many customers and even more customers on a trainsient stay it is impossible to please everyone, even though this is what we strive for.

Unauthorized Mastercard withdrawl/charge for dockage., 2014-07-27
Captain: , pensacola (40)

I docked at Bay Point January 23rd and February and paid my bill via Mastercard. I left March 20th. In May they charged me, unauthorized another month's fee. In June 6th Bay Point staff said they would reverse the unauthorized payment. As of July 26th it has not been processed.

Very Nice Facility, 2014-01-01
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Channel coming in well marked. Watch shoaling. Really pretty facility, staff was friendly and standing by to assist at fuel dock and at slip. Resort amenities, landscaping. Pet friendly.

Nice marina and easy access fuel dock., 2013-05-10
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (1178)

Stopped at this marina for fuel just before heading out to the Gulf. The staff was very friendly and had good complimentary hot coffee brewed in the morning. The signs say they open at 8am, but they were there at 7:30am, which allowed us to fuel a little earlier and get on our way.

Bay Point Marina, 2013-04-04
Captain: , Houston, TX (553)

Very friendly and helpful staff. Watch out for shoaling adjacent to green mark 19 in the middle of the channel just opposite the 2 decker party boat. Facilities were very nice, but a bit of a walk from the transient slip. On site restaurant was adequate. Shopping at Publix and West Marine requires a car.

great location, staff, and well maintained, 2013-04-01
Captain: , houston, tx (403)

Very nice marina. The fixed docks are a bit rough with short finger piers making it difficult boarding with tidal changes. But that said, this place is excellent. Daniel, Kip, and the staff really are service oriented and pleasant. I felt safe leaving the boat there for a couple of weeks unattended. The resort atmosphere provides good security. You need a car to get to anything. A Publix, Wynn Dixie, liquor store, and a Wesr Marine are all located together just a couple of miles up Thomas road.
There is a hertz rental kiosk at the WyndhamHotel on site
Received a good monthly discount as a GLCA member.
They received the wood to re-deck much of the main pier the day we left. They are keeping the place in good shape. Clean bathrooms.
Water depth at low tide is a bit shallow about a hundred yards before you approach the fuel dock, other than that there was planty of water for my 5.5 draft.

Longer Stay, 2013-01-27
Captain: , Great Bridge, VA (381)

We left our 44 Defever here for two months, and were pleased with the professionalism throughout our stay. Always pleasant and helpful. We hope to visit again.

Complete Package, 2013-01-24
Captain: , Montgomery, AL (161)

Very well protected, sailboat friendly (Good depth, no bridges from Gulf approach), many amenities. Amicable and capable staff. Approach off of main channel is well marked, but winds around a bit so be attentive. All the facilities of a world class resort. Sparkling clean restrooms, pool, on site restaurants, championship golf courses, manicured grounds. Probably above average cost but way above average facility. Welcomes transients. I was awoken prematurely several times by a newspaper thrown into my cockpit, but that is not necessarily a terrible thing. Convenient to state park beaches, not far from Panama City itself for any supplies or entertainment you need. No on site repair facilities, however mobile mechanics of any speciality are available.

A Great Place to Visit, 2013-01-17
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (245)

We agree very much with the last few reviews. Very friendly people as guests and employees. Dock Guy Ryan was extremely friendly and helpful with our questions, giving directions to local sites, and a "How Can I Help?" attitude.
One disagreement with a note on a previous rating, though. Kip, the Dock Master says there is not wi-fi available for transients, "only up here" meaning, I suppose, in the dock office area.
I was told there has been a recent change of ownership to the St. Joe paper company...maybe wi-fi got lost in the transition.
Also, the former dockmaster Stephen, who had many favorable comments here, has taken a similar position with another marina "somewhere down in South Fla." according to the same source as the St. Joe new management story.

Note: The dockmaster refers to the water channels leading to dockage as "fairways" since it's a golf resort. Looking back two weeks later, it's understandable.

But at the moment, when you're tired and just want to get docked, plugged into shorepower, shut everything down and open that first cold beer of the day, hearing someone tell you to "turn right down the first fairway after the dock in front of you" doen't make a hell of a lot of sense. Especially when you can see well-manicured lawns all along the seawall surrounding the marina.

Just be ready for it and translate it to "channel" and you'll be fine.

Great Stay. A Pleasure, 2012-12-24
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

This is a terrific marina with great docks and amenities. Lovely people. Lots of good things already said. Just a couple of notes...
- If you stay here for a few days or need to provision you will need to rent a car. Enterprise $45 per day for a Kia Soul. Sweet.
- Lots of shopping in Panama City and Destin (50 miles east) for those that need a retail fix.
- Pay very close attention to the markers coming into the small bay and the marina. Easy to miss the first red to come into the bay. It is very close to a sand bar/ looks like it is in the wrong place buy it is not. Keep it to your starboard side. Don't cut the corner. Channel into the marina is very well marked but pay attention.
- Very good shelter in unsettled windy conditions.
- There is a post office on the grounds located in the main resort building behind the marina office.
Have a nice stay!

Pleasant surprise, 2012-11-11
Captain: , Chattanooga, TN (554)

We stayed here after a long rough 53 mile trip from Destin. Our main sheet shackle had broken, the prop shaft was making strange noises all making for a stressfull trip. When Steve, the manager, heard of our problems, he immediately volunteered to go to West Marine for a shackle, and arranged for a mechanic and diver to check out the shaft noise. He could not have been more helpful.
This is also a resort. Swimming pool, nice restuarant and clean bathrooms and showers. They also offer loaner bicycles. Steve also gave us a rate of $.90/ft with no charge for power. This will be my home when in the Panama City area.

Best Marina in Panama City Beach area., 2012-05-07
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

Great staff. Coffee, donuts and a paper each morning. Nice pool and great showers. Did an oil and fuel filter change here and they pick up the used oil at your boat. Resort has changed from Marriott to Wyndam. everyhting else the same. Marina is a separate operation. 3 gold courses. One jack Nicklaus design. Challenging. Reflelctions is a full service day spa. $10 a day for use of the facility. Great message, facial, etc. packages for the ladies. This Captain strongly recommends pampering the Admiral.

Perfect Stay, 2012-03-08

Thanksgiving 2011, 2011-11-25
Captain: , Freeport TX (143)

Steve really knows how to run a first class place. The facilities were great, but what made the difference for us was the service from the staff. A new paper deliivered everyday that included the weather forecast printed out. I had packages delivered to the marina and the staff walked them out to the boat. One day I was riding my bike into town and I stopped because of rain at a convenience store, Steve spotted me as he drove by turned around to see if I wanted a ride home. Would I stay here again? You bet!!!

Great facilities, and friendly, hardworking, helpful staff., 2011-09-26
Captain: , Crestview, FL (170)

We docked here on September 10, 2011. We are avid Gator football fans and chose this marina because they offered cable. When we arrived, we received excellent docking directions over the vhf from the dock master Steve. A marina staff member met us at the dock to help us with tying up the boat and setting up the power. He also hunted up a long cable for the television so that we could watch the Gators game. We can%u2019t comment on the restaurants, because we fired up the traditional game day tailgate dinner grill. Since we were only staying one night and were preoccupied with football, we didn%u2019t tour any of the resort outside the marina. We did walk the docks checking out the wide variety of pleasure craft docked there. The bathroom and shower facilities are clean, updated, and well equipped. There is a nice pool too. Sunday morning a paper was delivered to the boat, and when I went to use the facilities and chat with the dock master, we were offered breakfast. The staff here works hard to make this a first class marina. It is on our list of marinas that we will definitely visit again.

Two days became 2 weeks, 2011-09-10
Captain: , placida,fl (330)

A great marina. When they get the loaner car it will be a 5 star.

Steve and staff make you feel welcome. Extra "nice" to Loopers.
Were here for Lee and only one night a bit rocky.
Had some family down and they stayed in a condo right behind our boat. Good thing cause they were here when Lee arrived with all her rain.
We enjoyed our two week extgended stay.
They have bikes available,a beautiful pool, frugal special diners at the golf club house and 30 Blue has music on weekends and tasty food.

Small (22') Sailboat Cruising, 2011-05-20
Captain: , Carrabelle (364)

An excellent marina and a fun place to stay overnight. The staff was very freindly...Steve the dockmaster had a cookout one night for marina guests. There was no charge for the cookout and terrific ribs, burgers and wings were served up. You can also use complimentary bikes to tour the Bay Point resort area including the Marriott. The marina restaruant, 30 Degree Blue, was an great value for the food served. One note of caution if you are in a smaller might be intimidated by the larger boats, but it is fun to walk the docks and check them out! There are no grocery stores within walking distance.

Excellent Marina, 2011-02-17
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (671)

We stayed here in Feburary of 2011. Awesome place, was met at the dock and helped secure the boat. The marina staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and the facilities were more than clean. It was a great place to spend the night and they delivered the paper to the boat the next day. Overall I give these folks high marks.

Bay Point nice stay, 2010-12-25
Captain: , Foley, AL (985)

The dockmaster met us at our slip helped us tie up and checked us in right there. Very professional. The area is nice bike or walk around. There is a way to go the back way to Publix about 1 1/2 miles away. It doesn't show on google but there is a entrance into the community from the main drag.

Place for walking dogs, staff happy to have us there, is a little overpriced for north Fl., but nice clean stop after the river system and Mobile.

Glossy, high priced marina, popular spot for the sportfish crowd. A little sterile and overpriced, but very clean and nice. Good laundry facilities.

We always stop here on our summer vacations. The staff is very friendly, and the marina is top rate. The on site restaurant 30 Degree Blue is wonderful, but pricey. There is also an on site deli, that is great. There is also a pool, showers and laundry on site.
