Reviews for Bay Point Marina
Very Tired Marina!, 2016-10-17
Captain: , Newport, RI (230)

S/V MAX WITH A 7'2" draft; 13'8" beam...
After sailing overnight from Atlantic City to Norfolk, Va we were looking forward to a couple of days stay here as we had not been here before. The slip assignment issued us was occupied when we made our approach and so they put us on a very tight slip..not much room for the beam of our boat and we squeezed in at the expense of ruining a bumper...once in the slip, the smell that greeted us was a very tired floating dock covered in bird poop. We won't be back!

Old, tired, poorly maintained, 2015-08-03
Captain: , Little Creek VA (484)

The average 4-star rating must be based on old reviews. Although the staff is friendly and curtious, and they seem to try hard, the marina is very poorly maintained. Two or three of the womens restroom commodes were out of service for 6 weeks. The mens showers were never cleaned for a month, until slipholders complained. There is no wifi service at Bay Point as is advertised. The docks are rotting, the pool was green and closed for a week....good location, but nowere near four-stars.

OK marina. , 2014-11-15
Captain: , Newport (30)

Lagoon restaurant manager seemed a little grouchy and the marina office (friendly young office mgr) sent me a mile away to the 7-11 to get quarters for the laundry. (But there's laundry!)

Warm, clean bathrooms. No food shopping or hardware within walking distance. Wifi was somewhat weak.

Eat & imbibe at friendly Cutty Sark nearby. Take a stroll and check out the interesting redevelopment of the local neighborhood (a walking-centric community created from scratch with interesting craftsman architecture).

old and tight, 2014-11-10
Captain: , newport beach (128)

docks are very old, some are tilting like they lost their buoyancy,
wood on the dock is old and rute and has splinters,

coming in to a T head stern to with a 15' 11" wide boat was super tight on D dock.

construction is sight so its a bit noisy as well,
i havn't stayed the night cuz i found all this a bit too much.

i would expect that dock boys will welcome boats who enter thier marina for the first time !

Nice Marina, but noisy construction, 2014-08-23
Captain: , Hampton, VA (314)

This is a nice marina, but it's a little noisy during the day due to a large condo being constructed next door. The showers are good, pool is nice, and the restaurant is open.

Bay Point Marina, 2013-06-11
Captain: , Newport, RI (230)

The fairways are too narrow, the floating docks are too short, and the barnacle covered pilings are too close together. As far as docking is concerned, I give it one star. As respects to amenities; the heads are fine, there's a great tiki bar that was recently remodeled. The Marina office is a long walk and if you don't have a car, the marina is within walking distance to a couple of breakfast restaurants and convenience stores. The BoatUS discount is significant and makes transient prices very attractive. Probably the best option for jumping offshore heading north.

The Lagoon Open, 2012-07-16
Captain: , Norfolk Virginia (469)

New restaurant: The Lagoon (www.TheLagoon.co) is open. Full service, service in restaurant and on large adjacent deck right in the marina. Guest slips for dining avaialbe (see website).

Good place to stay, 2011-09-15
Captain: , Norfolk (51)

We had a slip here for 3 years and wouldn't have left except we are now working near DC. The restaurant is closed (for a while) but there are other good places to eat nearby. The Vinings Group of marinas is pretty well run and we would go back. That said, the place could use some mainntenance, but nothing is really bad, just some things here and there.

things have changed, 2011-01-26
Captain: , norfolk, va (40)

like the others have said, its really nice with easy access...but the resturant has recently closed...

My Home Port, 2010-10-26
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (30)

Great floating docks but finger docks aren't full length. Good power, water and facilities. Nice small pool for the summer heat. The restaurant at Bay Point has great happy hour prices and a two story outside deck overlooking the marina. Bay Point is owned by VMG that owns Little Creek and Vinnings (formerly Taylors Landing) further down the creek. Vinnings has the Surf Rider restaurant which is great. Staff are helpful and eger to help.

Back for another visit, 2010-06-10
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (134)

Good break after days on the ocean. Owned by Little Creek. Not fancy but clean and quiet. Use your Boat US card for a discount. Also the Coast Guard is all over so be up to date.
