Reviews for Bay Harbor Yacht Club
Turned away . . . , 2017-05-15
Captain: , Santa Cruz, California (40)

Presented myself at the street side gate yesterday with my membership card from the Santa Cruz (California) Yacht Club, where I am a Staff Commodore, and was summarily dismissed.

We wintered our boat at lovely Harbor Springs just across Little Traverse Bay from this place and I wanted to check this place out - based on the positive Active Captain reviews - so that we could plan our itinerary when we continue south on the "Loop" in a few weeks.

To say they are not friendly is an understatement. The spirit of yacht clubs should be to welcome sailors, especially those far from home. I will reach out to them again before we leave Harbor Springs, but I suspect they are not a "real" yacht club as most understand that term, as there are no flag officers, race committee etc listed in their web site, as one might expect, only indications of a strictly commercial establishment.

To coin a phrase: "sad"

FYI, all boaters of any stripe are welcomed at the (real) Santa Cruz Yacht Club. Even from this place.

Beautiful spot, 2014-12-13

We stopped here in late July for a few nights. The amentities are first class. The staff are very helpful. You can walk down the path to Bay Harbor and enjoy additional restaurants. The club is very fancy and there's not many places to go other than to a small collection of shops and restaurants down the trail.

The sunsets from the restaurant can be just stunning. It's a great spot to sit and watch the sun set over your and other beautiful yachts.
