Reviews for Bay Bridge Marina
Terrible Management, 2016-08-31
Captain: , Forked River, NJ (114)

The marina itself is very nice. Well maintained floating dock. However the management seems to not care about transients. I called several times on the radio as we were approaching the marina. No response. Finally I called on the cell phone. I was told to try the radio again and someone would answer. At this point we were just inside their basin. I called on the radio and someone did answer. However they could not tell me my slip assignment and had someone else contact me back. They asked my name and boat name and said "we will be right back to you". About four minutes later I got a call back and thy asked me to spell my last name, which I did using the phonetic alphabet. They said again "we will get right back to you". One again it was four or five minutes before I got another call back. This time they asked me for my boat name. Repeat the above process another two times. Keep in mind that I'm inside the marina fighting 15 to 20 KT winds. Had I known it would take this long to get a slip assignment, I would have gone back out until they were ready.

Once they gave me my assignment, I was told the dock and number G15. I said I was never at the marine and asked where that was. They said looks for G dock and you are on the side away from the pool. Again I told them I don't know the marina. So I don't know where the pool is. I asked for north, south, east, west, type directions. They couldn't help me. I was told a dock hand would be out there to direct me in. Finally found my slip and got tied up. The dock hand was saying how sorry he was for the confusion. He was very helpful.

I will not go to this marina again. They need to get their act together.

Great location , 2016-07-31
Captain: , Annapolis (2677)

Very nice facilities, and landscaping make this an attractive marina Nice floating docks. Staff is not particularly attentive though. The constant highway noise is annoying if you are sitting outside. The rates seem rather steep. Annapolis prices but not Annapolis attractions. For us the value is not apparent. Probably not return The restaurant food is great.

Best of the Bay (update 5/16), 2016-05-19
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (944)

Update 5/16 -- We were here "early" in the season and they were not staffed as you might expect. On our arrival, no answer on the VHF, so we had to call by phone for fuel (and then waited 15 minutes) and the slip assignment process was rather unclear at first. I am not trying to be overly critical as I still think this is great marina for all the reason listed below, but, better preparation for known reservations could be improved.

Bay Bridge Marina has been our "summer home" this year which we have really enjoyed. From the high quality floating docks (with long finger piers down both sides), excellent head and shower faciilities, a nice pool, Hemingway's Restaurant with a great deck bar and views over the Bay, easy access fuel dock and pump out, plus a full service yard and lift, Bay Bridge Marina deserves its recognition as one of the "Best of the Bay".

I also have to give them high marks for making constant improvements and investing in their property. From new showers and heads, landscaping, work-out gym, and a friendly and helpful staff, the marina continues to get better.

One final comment about the "atmosphere" on the docks. The people who keep their boats here are very friendly, helpful and fun. We have really enjoyed meeting and making new friends. If you are looking for a place to keep your boat, I suggest you take the time to consider Bay Bridge Marina.

Good, clean marina... but expensive. Hemmingway's service sucks., 2015-09-18
Captain: , School of Hard Knocks (30)

We were here in end of July on a three-day charter out of Rock Hall. We were on a 48' Beneteau, with a 5' 11" draft. The entrace is clearly marked, but we bumped a few times on the way in. This was around 1:30 p.m., on a 4:45 p.m. high tide, so not at low tide. We left close to high tide the next morning and didn't bump at all. The marina is nice and clean... plenty of bathrooms, a nice pool with good views and lots of slips. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for. We radioed the marina on the way in and had two dockhands help us at the slip. My only gripe was hemmingways. We made a 7:00 p.m. reservation (earliest available). We had four kids with us, from ages 8 years to 15 months. We ordered and waited almost two hours for our food to come out. Apparently they had a wedding on the first floor the same night. The waiter never came to check on us and eventually, one of our people from our group had to go into the kitchen to track down our food and find out what was taking so long. The manager did come out and gave us a good discount, but the service was generally lousy. Good food though, once we got it. I'm still giving the marina four stars though, since the restaurant's service is not their fault. I would give the marina five stars if it weren't so expensive. Marina-wise, that's my only complaint.

Disappointing at the Least, 2015-08-11
Captain: , Summit North Marina (25)

We we cruising north on the bay and had called Hemmingway's for information to stop for lunch. Upon approach we hailed Bay Bridge Marina on Ch 16 and on Ch 68. They answered neither after multiple calls. As we approached the fuel dock, there was a person with a clipboard and another person standing there doing nothing. We hollered at them and asked about docking for lunch. They told us to pick any slip on the north side of the fuel dock. Neither person moved to assist and I assumed that they were not employees. My wife tore her fingernail off trying to secure the boat (47 ft) but we got in and tied up with no assistance. A 39 ft Carver pulled in beside us and we helped them get secured. A boat pulled in for fuel at that time and low and behold, the two people that did not move previously were the Dock Master and a dockhand. After lunch at Hemmingway's which was excellent, we returned to the boat and first single up the lines. I then went to the bridge to start the engines. My wife overheard the Dockmaster tell two dockhands, "Get them out of here." I had started the engines but was still in neutral throttle operation when I heard the dockhands yell that the lines were clear. Obviously, we will think seriously before returning by water.

Great Experience!, 2015-05-26
Captain: , Annapolis (20)

Contacted Marina on approach on channel 68. Very friendly staff and helpful while docking. A clean marina right next to Hemingway's where we had lunch and took in scenic views of the bay bridge. Bar and food service for indoor and outdoor seating. Looking forward to another visit in June.

Not worth the fees they charge, 2015-04-01
Captain: , Chester (160)

Better to go around the corner to CHM. BBM is overpriced and not worth it.

Very Impersonal, 2014-08-08
Captain: , Middle River (130)

Marina is well maintained and a nice stop if you are passing North or South and want a nice dinner at Hemmingways. Unlike so many marinas on the Bay, this one has no real character or personality. Run strickly like a business. Piers are very nice but marina is very spread out, you can end up a 5 minute walk from the office or pool. To me it is ok for a change, but not really worth the price. There should be some discount if you eat at the restaurant.

Beautiful sunsets, 2014-07-29
Captain: , Bear Cr,MD (145)

Were there 7/19. Boaters leaving and entering showed no curtesy, first slip assigned had burned outlets. Went to Hemmingways for dinner and had poor service although they were not busy. Won't be back any time soon

Beautiful Marina & Great Location, 2014-07-15
Captain: , Browns Cove, MD (402)

Our group of 4 boats just stayed here for the 1st time over the weekend. We had been to the annual fall boat show and thought it would be a great place to include in our trip schedule.

We were not disappointed. we called on channel 68 and were met with immediate response from friendly dock master. They gave clear instructions to our slip and dock hand was there by the time we were. Nice dock hand helped us, which was nice, since we had a slight cross wind. He helped with shore power and gave us codes for showers and wifi as well as overview of marina layout. We went immediately to the pool which is very clean and well maintained with lots of chairs and umbrellas. The poolside bar is no longer open, but we new that and took coolers.

Individual bath suites and fitness center are located adjacent to the pool and both were spotless.

We had dinner at Hemmingways with gorgeous upper deck outdoor table. We were a table of 8 and had great service and the food is decent.

There isn't much else there and no bikes to explore so if you're looking for activities this might not be for you, hence the 4 rating. My only detraction from 5 stars was there aren't a lot of amenities, but what I've described is great.

Also, we paid $2 a foot electric included and free wifi. Very competitive and totally worth it in my opinion.

We will be back!

Good Facility, but...., 2014-07-06
Captain: , Key Largo (122)

We have transient-docked here for one night on three occasions. Each time the ladies restroom was unusable for complete lack of cleaning. Toilets were plugged with paper towels probably because of no toilet paper. No help from the Marina office. This last visit, after having a reservation for a T-head, we were on approach unable to raise anyone on ch 68 (another boat had same problem) as instructed for 45 minutes after three phone calls to the office phone number.
We pulled in to a T where we had docked previously, and a dockhand appeared to help tie up. Shortly afterward, the manager appeared and said we were not supposed to be there and had to move. After 5 minutes, he agreed we could stay where we were. No help with water or electric, same as past visits. WiFi is good. That is "the rest of the story". Go figure.

Whats not to like, 2014-06-28
Captain: , Annapolis (160)

This is our second summer spending the season here. Between the high quality floating docks and the clean pool we have enjoyed it. The place is very convenient. We recently also brought our sailboat into the marina that draws 7'4". Cam in at high tide without a problem. The channel was dredged better this season than last. We like it here!

One of the best in the Chesapeake, 2014-05-19
Captain: , Kent Island (40)

Not perfect, but very good. Facilities are good, pool is exceptional. Muddy channel subject to shoaling. Expensive, well managed. Kent Island and Annapolis easily accessible.

Bay Bridge on Kent Island, 2013-09-17
Captain: , Sandwich (692)

We came here based on an article in MarinaLife Magazine describing the sunsets. They are spectacular. The marina docks are first rate. The bath/shower facility is quite modern and clean. There is a paver promenade around entire marina, pool with tiki bar, workout room, and Heminghway's Restaurant. Perfect stop before or after Annapolis.

Nice place, but costly, 2013-08-07
Captain: , Shady Side, MD (20)

They bragged to me that they are the highest priced marina on the Bay, but claimed to be the nicest one, too. They claim "you get what you pay for."

Well, yes, the docks are the best, but not as nice as places outside the Bay that cost less. But the Bay is infamous for tight, rickety slips. At least here you get solid, floating docks.

And it's a quick motor trip out to the open Bay. Loved Hemingways, one of the best on the Bay.

Great marina-great resturant, 2013-07-12
Captain: , charleston s.c. (11)

First class facility with the best floating docks on the Bay! Hemingways is great place to eat-great pool-great staff-come for the sunset -stay for weekend. Fuel dock open from 8-8 -Monday-Sunday during season.

Cancellation policy, 2013-07-11
Captain: , Bear, DE (20)

This marina will charge your credit card in FULL when you make a reservation. No refunds if you cancel for any reason. I broke down on the way here a couple of years ago, called to cancel and was told I had a credit until the end of the year. A club member cancelled due to a loss of a family member and will lose sveral hundred dollars due to this unknown policy.

Don't plan on doing laundry here., 2012-09-26
Captain: , La Pointe WI (201)

Both Tim and Colin were great at helping us dock and getting pumped out. The facilities are newer. Amy, the manager, shouldn't be allowed to talk to customers. After wasting money in washers that didn't agitate and dryers that didn't dry well, she said "that's how they work here". She had no inclination to refund money but did give the phone # to the service provider for the old GE washers & dryers. That shouldn't be our job to call them. Instead of spending $20,000 on a new "House Beautiful" woman's restroom/shower, they should've spent some on new machines. This new restroom is on the southside of the E Dock building. Don't bother with the northside woman's restroom--that is old & tacky in comparison. The main docks were clean but the finger piers were extremely dirty and you are likely to track black marks on your decks if you walk across them while they are wet. $2.00 a foot on weekdays with a free pumpout almost makes it OK. Careful entering & leaving the marina. The lowest depth we saw in the channel was 6.3' close to high tide.

Good potential, but not yet perfect, 2012-07-11
Captain: , Londontowne, MD (470)

The floating docks are in great shape, the slips are relatively wide for their length, and the full-length finger piers give a choice of bow-in or stern-to tie-ups (especially useful for slips with an east-west orientation). Oddly, there are only three cleats on each side, although that's workable enough. The dock hands are friendly and energetic, although they sometimes need firm guiidance on line placement. The pool is good, with it's own bar -- which is available for customers to use, since the marina is not curently serving food or drink there. Staff is friendly and helpful. I found it odd during check-in that the office had a prominent display offering membership applications for Marinalife... but the marina doesn't actually accept Marinalife discount cards (nor do they offer BoatUS discounts).

The onsite restaurant (Hemingways) has its ups and downs: lunchtime service at the downstairs open-air bar was friendly and fast, and the food was fine... whereas evening carry-out service from the upstairs bar was friendly enough but underwhelming (orders not put in to the kitchen in the order received), and the Caesar salads (in our case) apparently weren't prepared by anyone who knows what a Caesar salad is (they were certainly edible, just not as expected).

If BBM weren't so expensive ($3/foot for transients, and Annapolis prices for annual rates), if more dining options were available very nearby, and if there were other attractions on site or within easy walking distance, I'd probably up this rating to a 5... but in the meantime, it's close but not perfect.

Everyone left, 2012-05-31
Captain: , Annapolis (80)

Most of the slip holders have left as the marina has increased fees. The approach can be shallow.

Good Restaurant, 2011-06-07
Captain: , Bristol, RI (766)

Almost new docks and (I was told by the boat next door) new better staff make this a good choice. A new Hemingway's restaurant opened in April 2010. Evidently they tore down the old one. The new one has truly spectacular roof deck views out over the bay. Food was better than average fish, burgers, etc. Good service. And that view!

Have your lawyer review the contract., 2010-12-19
Captain: , Solebury, PA (10)

In the past 5 years this marina has gone from the best on the bay to the worst. About 75% of the slips are empty. The absentee owners think that Kent Island is Palm Beach. They go through 3 or 4 managers each year. If you are considering renting a slip, talk to some existing slipholders first.

Everything seems to be clean, new and shiny, 2010-08-04
Captain: , Cornwall PA (421)

I've been here several times, for the annual Bay Bridge Boat Show and also when looking for boats at the brokers there. Everything on the grounds looks new and shiny, the restaurant is top-notch, and the facilities are well kept.

Good place for a stopover, 2010-07-30
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay (592)

Good place to spend a summer Saturday with friends. If they are from the DC/Baltimore area, they can drive and meet you there, take a cruise under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge or to ego alley in Annapolis, then return and let them buy you a nice dinner. Good pool, pool bar, and live music. Hemingway's Restaurant which is adjacent, features good music, great cream of crab soup, and spectacular sunsets.

Facilities are in like-new condition. Staff is friendly and helpful. KMart and a few shops are within a mile walk or bike ride.

At $3 per foot, I can't afford to stay more than one day, but have really enjoyed the times we have ventured over from the western shore.
