Reviews for Barcomb's Marina
Waterway Robbery?, 2016-08-22
Captain: , Richmond Hills, GA (230)

We had planned to stay at Barcomb's Marina for 2 nights, and we had given friends the address to forward a letter and a small, lightweight package. When we checked diesel prices on our way to Rouses Point, we learned that Gaines Marina was charging $2.99/gallon. John at Barcomb's said the best he could do was reduce his $3.26/gallon price by 10 cents if we would need at least 150 gallons. We pulled into a friendly welcome at the Gaines Marina fuel dock, dockhands who caught our lines and offered service with a smile. When a fellow Looper came to meet us in person after exchanging emails. Since we were already at Gaines, and since they discount dockage for BoatUS members from $1.50 to $1.35, we decided to stay. We called Barcomb's to let them know of our change of plans and confirmed we would walk over to pick up our packages the next day. (Cruising boaters understand the need to send mail to a marina to hold for their arrival, and others have done so willingly, even bringing packages to our boat. (Southport Marina in NC did so, even when we told them we had decided to stay at another Marina which offers a Looper discount.)
We called Barcomb's today to make sure the packages had arrived, then walked over to get them. Imagine our dismay and surprise when Barcomb's charged us $10/package - $20 to let the items sit on a counter for a few hours! Our travels may not bring us this way again, but if they do, we will definitely stay at Gaines Marina. This was just a vindictive reaction to our decision not to stay with them.

John (the owner) and his crew are awsome! Needed help and they didn't hesitate, found the problem and were very nice. Nice place to stay, very good service!

Captain: , Barcombs Marina, Rouses Point, NY (10)

I have been at BArcombs for some years now, an d I think it is a very good marina. They offer all services : mecanics, fuel, repaiis, installations, pump out . Everything needed for your boat.
It is also a very clean MArina: the shower, toilet, docks.
I recommend it!

Very helpful man in charge, John. We arrived after the marina closed for the day. The Customs officer had called him, saying that we were coming. He helped us tie up, got the power right, and we agreed to "settle up" in the morning. We decided to leave before he opened, called him, and all was settled without any trouble. Great marina operation.

An excellent marina, run by a professional mariner. Showers are a bit small.

New docks are easy to get to and safe. John and staff are friendly and helpful. It's our last stop going north and our first stop coming south.

Great Last Stop as you go North, 2013-06-27

John the Owner/Dockmaster has done a good deal of work on this marina with new docks, Parts dept., very clean restrooms, plus he marked his entrance channels with easy to follow red/green markers.

He was extremely helpful and stayed late to help us in with our late arrival. I was very impressed with his attitude and service. We did not need much diesel, but I wanted to top off before we went into Canada. Even at $4.99/gal that is considerably cheaper than diesel in Canada. For your last stop on Lake Champlain, this is a great marina.

You won't find more supportive/attentive owners! We rode out Irene here and John made sure we were safe and secure. Needed major food provisions and John arranged transporation. Stable docks, clean restrooms/showers, quiet location and easy walk to town. Restaurants, hardware store and light provisions nearby. Saturday nights during summer free music in the park (great jazz band during our stay). This is a great family run marina.
This is also the closest marina to the Customs dock.

John and Dolly run a marina that exudes charm and down home kindness. You can swim in the clean water off the doack or sit on the porch in the afternoon breeze
