Reviews for Baltimore Marine Centers at Lighthouse Point
Losing its Luster rapidly, 2017-07-24
Captain: , Cherry Hill (378)

I stayed here July 2015 and had nice things to say in comparison to the other marinas at the time. But I stayed last week and noticed things have gone downhill quite significantly. The trash in the marina was staggering and not just trash but a film of scum accompanied. Many of the finger piers are tilted at dangerous angles. There are still some beautiful yachts in the marina, though less than 2 years ago. But there are also some ghost ships there that really need to be taken out and sunk. We were very disappointed and will not return. One positive I have is that their pool was olympic sized and crystal clear. The pool staff were not friendly at all. BMC at Inner Harbor West (where the Rusty Scupper is) seems to be the cleanest and most upscale place to be for transients now, but no pool.

First Visit - Another In Our Future?, 2017-06-28
Captain: , West River (298)

This marina is a convenient location for West Marine, Safeway and the Baltimore Water Taxi (at Canton Park). The two dock hands that met us upon arrival easily helped pull us into our assigned slip with a challenging beam breeze.

Marina has floating cement docks; several are listing. There are clearly a number of live aboard boats at the marina (or at least very frequent owner visits) as yard furniture was noticed on several docks.Depending on slip location, plan for at least a 5-10 minute walk to the marina office and bathhouse (which is also at the pool). The bathhouse was clean, but the cleaning each morning (times not posted) removes the only restrooms on the property from service for 30 minutes.

Each dock has a locked gate controlled with an access card (drop box is inside the gate). The access key also provides access to the bathhouse. Note: There is a $25 fee for lost cards.

In addition to the West Marine and Safeway, there are a number of restaurants within walking distance or a short water taxi ride.

Overall, the staff was professional but the property is showing it%u2019s age. A number of the pedestal lights were not working at night (we mentioned ours to a staff member and it was replaced the same day), which could be a concern for first time visitors. The fresh water faucet on the pedestal was also leaking when turned-on (not fixed during our stay). As for price, you are paying for location. Single 30amp ($18 per day) is the highest we could find on the Bay. We found the water within the marina had more trash then we would have expected considering the reputation of the marina. Would rate 3.5 if we could as the marina is slightly better then average considering everything.

Stayed here for Navy Commissioning week, 2016-10-17
Captain: , Kent Island Maryland (110)

Nice marina--big too. Most slips require a long walk to the gate. It's fenced in and key required so security is first rate. We arrived late and they left the packet with security. Clean and the permanent slip holders were all friendly. Running path right outside gate and about 1/2 mile from Canton.

Great place, 2016-03-21
Captain: , Tracys Landing, MD (392)

Stayed here will attending 2015 Beneteau Rendezvous. They were very accommodating for a good sized group of boats. Made their pool and lawn area available for the group. Great facility, well maintained. Longish walk, or short cab ride, to downtown Baltimore. Nice on-site bar/restaurant.

Good Marina but quite pricey, 2015-07-27
Captain: , Occoquan, VA (354)

Stayed here two nights over the fourth. The location is handy to Fell's Point. Only down side is that the water is filthy with garbage and trash. Not the Marina's fault but it is one thing I will allways remember about the port. Fairways are a bit narrow so be ready to come in slowly.

Great Place, 2015-05-28
Captain: , Westbrook, CT (453)

We bought a boat berthed here, and spent several days acclimatizing to the boat. Facilities were fantastic, people could not have been more helpful. Everything you could ask for (restaurants, liquor stores, Target, supermarkets, within easy reach, much by walking. If we lived closer, I might keep my boat here.

Great location, nice docks, friendly staff., 2014-09-10
Captain: , Annapolis MD (70)

We brought at flotilla of 5 boats (LOA 38-45) up from Annapolis for the weekend. The marina was very accomodating and grouped us all together. The pool and facilities are nice but crowded given that the surrounding condo occupants can use the pool too. It's a long walk from the outer piers and the locals use small bikes. There was a strong southerly blowing and this accumulated a lot of trash from the harbor but the staff was diligent in cleaning it up. We took a short cab to Fells Point for dinner but there are plenty of options in this up and coming area of Baltimore.

Very nice marina and the community around it keeps getting better, 2013-07-22
Captain: , Baltimore (529)

We have kept our boat at BMC Lighthouse Pt for the past five winters because they are one of few marinas that can take live-aboards over the winter. They do turn off the freshwater plumbing for the winter BUT they deliver water via golf carts every week.
This year we stopped leaving for the summer and are staying year round. Walking distance from the marina are several liquor stores, many resturants, a nice Safeway, West Marine and an Ace Hardware. There is a new shopping center being built 6-8 blocks away.
The marina has a nice pool and membership to the on-site gym.

As mentioned about - parking at the marina and near by is very limited.

First Rate & Great Location, 2013-01-13
Captain: , Browns Cove, MD (402)

This is a first rate maintained and run facility. Floating piers are always a plus to me and the proximity to shopping for provisions as well as west marine store and many restaurants is really better than most. It is large and as a result the is a bit of a walk to shore, but it is not extreme and there are carts for transporting your "stuff". Great gym and pool on the property as well.

Mixed Review, 2012-08-04
Captain: , West River (72)

Staff was fine helping us dock and check in as one would expect at a A rated marina but....
Geeze try to hook up the free Wi-Fi and it is a pain. As we try this after 5 PM and the office is closed, no joy even after entry of mother's maiden name and all. Office staff handed out welcome kit but it lacked details to get on line.
Other bad news is the walk between boat and the gate to exit the dock. Look at this place from an aerial photo and you will see it is huge! I felt like I was walking a third of a mile to get off the dock and was only in the middle of the place.
During some months of summer, the place is not so much a private marina like one would expect and more of a public gym. I observed like 85+ people roll down the docks in groups and do exercises "boot camp" style grunting and yelling to bump up the adrenaline. Next they would jump in Dragon Boats and race around the docks with coxswain beating drums to drive the team on. What a thrill less you want a nice calm place to dock & relax. Only other noise nit I have is the Bay Cafe next door has music from lunch till' late night but, at least I was far away enough that I can't hear it down below deck.
Oh, good news, the pool is very big and nice, it has shade in spots and a ton of chairs. Note we were not in on a weekend so I don't know how a crowd can get but, the mid-week was very fine.
This place also has great floating docks, I've got an express & like to get on/off from the swim platform with my dog; they are in very good condition and solid with very tall pilings that could stand up to bad weather.
Water taxi is not too far away and a Safeway is across the street; Seven11 & West Marine is just outside the dock gate as are a few restaurants.
TV reception, even without cable, is great in Baltimore with just an off-air antenna!

Stay away!, 2012-07-02
Captain: , Williamsburg, VA (200)

Took my 100 foot boat here and they were incredibly rude, snotty, and un-helpful. I would not go back as Baltimore has so many better places to visit. I would rate this as one of the worst marinas on the east coast.

Excellent value on Chesapeake Bay, 2012-06-09
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (386)

We have been annual slip holders for the the past 3 years and have been very satisfied. The staff is excellent and they maintain a first class facility. Annual slip holders also receive free access to the pool and the fitness center at the Canton Club. As others have mentioned, there is great proximity to shopping, restaurants, West Marine, the water taxi etc.
In 2011 the marina went out of its way to accomodate transcients who were seeking shelter from Hurricane Irene and, based on instructions given to all slip holders, no boats were damaged during the storm.

Great Staff, 2012-05-03
Captain: , Hilton Head (130)

Spent a week here and the staff was extremly helpful. The location is superior - restaurants, grocery store and West Marine within blocks. The staff was particulary helpful - manager Kevin may be the best on the East Coast.

Slip Holder, 2012-02-29
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (10)

I've been a slip holder here for 5 years and cannot say enough about this marina. Best deal on the Chesapeake. Not only has everything you need, but it's proximity to Canton, Fells Point, etc. is a major plus.

Excellent Marina in a Fantastic Location, 2012-02-06
Captain: , Saint Petersburg, FL (56)

Never mind the floating concrete piers with catwalks on either side (for the west side docks), the fuel (diesel and gas), pumpout ($5), free cable, huge fareways, and the friendly staff. Never mind that the price is competitive with most marinas on the Bay or that the construction of the docks keeps the marina water calm in even the worst storm. The location of Canton with bars, restaurants, water taxi, supermarket and, yes, a Starbucks within easy walking distance makes this a premier destination. The walking promenade that follows the perimeter of the Harbor is an added plus. Oh, did I forget to mention the free gym membership and parking space!

Enjoyed a month at this very, very nice marina, 2011-10-25
Captain: , Nashville,TN (437)

Believe the other reviews: this is a great facility and the staff are really nice, helpful and professional. Our only disappointment, and I hesitate to mention it, was the rate structure: they have only a monthly rate or a daily rate. After paying a full month, most marinas will pro-rate a few extra days at the monthly rate. Not here. We were switched back to a full daily rate for three extra days. Otherwise we loved it and we really enjoyed Baltimore.

Great marina for transients, 2011-10-15
Captain: , Boston (232)

We stayed at BMC Lighthouse Point on our way south and were very pleased by the experience. The floating docks are in excellent condition and the staff is professional. The marina is convenient to grocery shopping and restaurants. We would stay at this marina again and would recommend it to anyone passing through Baltimore.

One of the better marinas in Baltimore, 2011-08-17
Captain: , Annapolis (795)

Used to keep my boat here. The place is safe, well maintained, and well staffed. Only complaints are the long, long walk to the bathhouse from many of the slips and the lack of parking. There are some things to do nearby and there is a West Marine and a grocery store close by, but this part of Canton is a little off the beaten path.

High-end luxury marina, 2011-05-17
Captain: , Jersey City (506)

Beautiful concrete floating docks. Great security. Convenient to town, restaurants, grocery shopping. Stayed here while we went to Virgin music festival in Pimlico. Staff very helpful. Gorgeous pool. I'd live here if I was in Baltimore permanently.

Very Enjoyable, 2010-10-04
Captain: , Rock Hall, MD (179)

Stayed the weekend of the Fells Point Festival with a two night min. We could not make it the first night due to bad weather fully expecting to pay for the two nights anyway. We were only charged one night. Another couple who could not make it at all were given a credit for another two night stay.

A bit of party activity in neighboring boats but all was quiet after 11 PM or so. There was minimum boat movement during the night so it was extremely restful.

The only downside was that the bath facilities are VERY far from the slips nearest the entrance. The courtesy cart stops running at 6 PM so some planning is needed for anyone who has trouble walking distances.

1st Class Facility, 2009-07-20
Captain: , Heathsville, VA (138)

We stayed 2 nights (7/14-15/09) docking our 37' Sea Ray amoungst numerous bigger yachts. This marina has all the facilities one could want! Great pool, good Resturants, and convenient to the Inner Harbor Water Taxi service. We use dit to make the circuit of Baltimore attractions. The Grand Kids had a great time!

Wonderful Marina, 2008-04-11
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (66)

Everything a boater could want in a layover enroute or as a weekend destination in itself. BMC has beautiful, first-class marina facilities, large well-kept pool and fitness center, friendly and helpful staff. West Marine and other retail stores on the Lighthouse Point premises, with Safeway and Starbucks a block away. Convenient to the Inner Harbor via water taxi or one's own dinghy. First marina inside the 6-mph limit past Ft. McHenry, so easy access to/from the Patapsco River. Lovely walkable historic neighborhood of Canton and O'Donnel Square with great restaurants, bars and shops.

Outstanding, the best Baltimore has to offer!, 2008-03-09
Captain: , Atlantic City, NJ (76)

Great approach, water depth, docking and the facility is first class. Water taxi is next door to get you down town. Accomodating and friendly staff. Must stay place for any true boater on the move.
