Reviews for Bahia del Sol Marina and Yacht Club
Great time here!, 2014-09-05
Captain: , San Diego (277)

We spent two months at the marina here in 2014. We came for the Annual El Salvador Rally (fantastic event) and then hung around for another month because we liked it so much. Wonderful people and wonderful experiences. We finally left simply because we knew that if we didn't we'd end up putting roots down and never leave.

Crossing the bar was completely benign for us coming in. Going out there was some big swell, but we simply kept the boat pointed straight into them and we rose over and headed safely to sea. Of course, never do this without a guide. We were not experienced enough to 'see' the path, but our guides did.

Tidal currents move fast here, so, put your fenders down low, i.e., just barely above the water, and tie an extra line or two to the dock.

Wonderful time at Bahia del Sol, 2013-04-25

We spent 10 days here as part of the El Salvador rally (very loosely organized - perfect). The rally has no starting point or date; just arrive at your convenience. There are activities daily, including trips into San Salvador (the bus is easy and interesting also). We enjoyed the "happy hour" daily with other cruisers. The staff will do anything you need. All check-in is on-site. Work with Rogilio to cross the bar; he'll get you in safely.

This is a great marina and a great way to get started in El Salvador. Crossing the bar was an experience, but we were greated with immigration and the hotel staff with cocktails!
