Reviews for Bahia Mar Yachting Center
great place , 2017-08-08
Captain: , Columbia, SC (20)

Wonderful staff, and a great place to make a stop. Walk a few blocks to the north and you find lots of restaurants and shops. Will always make this place a stop when we can!

Good for entry to US, 2017-05-29
Captain: , Milford (530)

Landed here at night after a delivery from Martinique - docks in excellent condition, well marked so that we found our spot even at midnight. Didn't use the bathrooms as we went to the great hotel next door. Customs and Immigration very convenient if you need to check in more than than the telephone call.

Not as good as years ago, 2017-05-28
Captain: , Tall Timbers MD. (80)

Docks and service werre excelllent. Restrooms were in need of work, and insufficient. The restaurant was good but limited. Accesss to shopping was limited.

Great stop, 2017-03-12
Captain: , Charleston, SC (50)

May be a bit pricey but you have the beach right across the street and plenty of restaurants to choose from. Marina personnel have all been excellent. Nice pool, tennis courts, and workout room.

Good but not great, 2016-05-21
Captain: , carmel in (50)

We stopped here first after a trip in from Caribbean. This marina is top shelf except their bathrooms. Rarely cleaned in our 5 day visit and women's was unusable for 1 day. Great staff, Will & Ken. Expensive, perfect location and mostly empty.

Great Location, 2015-11-14
Captain: , Jupiter, Fl (140)

Great location to beach and restaurants. Docks are nice, spent two night here, did not use bathrooms. Hotel restaurant delivers take out to the boat which was nice.

Be careful of this place, 2015-10-28
Captain: , Red Frog Marina, Panama (30)

See copies of documents at We received a quote for one year of dockage from them that we did not accept initially. When they called to follow up we accepted the quoted price and they committed to honor the price. When they sent the contract they increased the price by 70%! Unfortunately we had already given notice at out former slip.

The docks are good but all of the other facilities are very old and tired.

Felt like bait and switch.

NEW Bathrooms/showers FINALLY, 2015-08-16
Captain: , Newport, RI (360)

Just finished a 33 day stay here - as others have said, the location cant be beat and the dockhands were extremely helpful - we stayed on B dock in our 33 footer and felt very welcomed there even though we were the smallest boat in the marina. The new facilities are being finished up as I type this review - this will remedy the one blight of our stay. We look forward to returning again soon.

Location! Location! Location!, 2015-07-20
Captain: , Lakeland (997)

Very expensive, but a perfect location right across from the beach. Plenty of restaurants nearby. We were here to get sail repairs from North Sails (who were excellent) and to wait on a window to cross to the Bahamas (back in November, 2014). We would've enjoyed our stay so much more, if the prices were more reasonable. Fortunately, (from reading other reviews), we didn't need to use the facilities much. We did swim in the pool, which was very nice.

Good location and ....that's it!, 2015-03-11
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1007)

You can't beat the location, right across the street from sandy beach and the ocean. Lots of great restaurants near by. But as far as the marina could be better. It was our first time here, we called a few times on the radio as we're were approaching since we didn't know the marina lay out, and were told the usual "dock hand will meet you at the dock".
Well...we got there, got in our slip & tied a few lines before someone showed up.

I have to agree with the previous post. The men's room is not well maintained or looked after AT ALL. Sorry to be so graphic but I need to. Yesterday morning at 10:30 one of the stalls had feces all over the floor. At 3:30 pm (same day), not only was the stall in the same disgusting condition, but one other was clogged and the others had no toilet paper. There are four or five sinks and only one soap dispenser (the other is off the wall), and no soap in the only one, and sinks were pretty filthy. Showers....not horrible but not great either, kind of gross.
WiFi, didn't work. I asked a dock hand and he said "You may be too far". The facilities on the other side of the marina, near dock master's office and where the much larger yachts are located, are better.

So...great location and nothing else. The management should really step up and improve the facilities or at the very least, keep them clean.

Overpriced, 2015-02-15
Captain: , Cruising (70)

You pay for the location here and not much else. Filthy bathrooms that aren't well stocked with toilet paper. Toilets don't flush properly. No hand soap in the bathroom for weeks. No toilet paper for days. Only one of the three showers works. Well, one other works but no hot water. Faucets are falling off. The wifi could be more consistent on the docks, but the captain's lounge has excellent wifi, music and very comfortable. With new management, maybe Bahia Mar will finally kick up their game?

Great location, excellent service, 2015-02-13
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Staff was friendly and helpful, floating docks easy to deal with. Good power and water pressure. Great location, calm setting well protected, across the street is the Beach. On site poll and excellent fitness center all very private and nice. Clean bathrooms. Safe area, great for walking and biking if you do not mind riding along side traffic. Many nearby restaurants all types and prices. Recommend taking a walk and having a drink at the Marriott Harbor Beach about 5 blocks away. You'll think you are on a Caribbean tropical island.
Back again in 2015, still the same . Good service. Facility could use some TLC, dock good a little dirty. Great location.

One of the Best, 2013-12-05

miscommunication?, 2013-10-15
Captain: , Harveys Lake, PA (100)

On 10/13/2013 I called to find out some more information about this marina since I have been recently sliding down the ICW from MM -0- to Myrtle beach. I stayed at some of the most incredible marinas and I have left some real scary places. Much to my surprise, when I indicated I had a 8' x 30' houseboat style vessel I was specifically and clearly told that they will not accommodate "houseboat style vessels"!. I clearly explained it was an 8'x30' vessel and in fact, I have been welcomed in every marina from MM -0- down. She again indicated, the manager said they do not accommodate any houseboat style vessels and I should find another marina. Being a fire-medic, I never cared what vehicle you were trapped in and when I searched the smoke for survivors, I never cared what type of house you lived in. Never having a problem with transient dockage, I can only wonder if there has been a miscommunication on my part? I was simply looking for a place to stay for a few days before heading more south? I also fail to understand the difference in "accommodations" needed for my " 8' x 35' Custom build Canadian vessel" and the other vessels being accommodated. I am even a US citizen from the east coast? I heard this was a nice marina and it had favorable ratings. I unfortunately will rate it as a 1 until we can clear this up?

Good location for visiting Ft Lauderdale, 2013-09-15
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (263)

This marina is right in the middle of Ft Lauderdale's beach activities and short water taxi rides to shopping district. The beach is a short walk away and the hotel's pool and grille are open for marina guests. The water taxi makes a stop here so it is easy to go to the shopping and restaurant areas along Los Alos.

Onsite there is a new chandler, dive shop, yacht maintenance/repair, charter fishing boats, Jungle Queen tour boat, All About Food (take out with great variety available) and fuel dock. Most offsite repair/maintenance companies will perform work at the marina but bigger jobs will be done elsewhere.

The marina staff are very helpful no matter what size boat or yacht you have. The north basin tends to be more long term storage while the south basin has more activity. Mega yachts berth along the western side while smaller boats toward the eastern side.

Security is what you make it. The marina does not have locking gates so beach walkers can wander down the docks as well as the hotel guests.

The floating concrete docks are well kept and rated for tropical storms. Nearly all berths are oriented so the prevailing winds are on your bow/stern. Water, electric and trash bins at each berth. Pump out every other or so and the marina staff handles it.

There is no haul out or on the hard storage.

Overall good place, well protected berths but in the middle of activities. Noise from the road or tourist places has never been an issue with us during stays in 2012 and 2013.

Fianl note is the marina is home to the Ft Lauderdale boat show so it is not available end of Oct to beginning Nov.

Good stop, 2013-07-04
Captain: , Englewood, Fl (351)

Everything a little over priced, but we enjoyed the swimming hall of fame. Used the bus system to do some shopping. The beach and resturants are within walking distance. Facilities ware excellent.

You expect more for the money., 2013-04-04
Captain: , Mystic, CT (211)

The restrooms and showers are filthy and poorly supplied.
We have traveled from ME to the FL Keys and believe these are the poorest maintained restrooms we have encountered. Since it seems to be associated with Double Tree Resorst you would think that Double Tree would some of it Hotel experience to clean this place up.

Good Place But May Not Be Worth It., 2013-03-17
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

This place is one of the best locations to explore the beach scene at Fort Lauderdale. It is a large and upscale marina with an outstandingly helpful staff and good slips. Bathrooms are good but not spectacular. The pool/gym is excellent but thats it. The problem is that it is vey expensive. Almost $3 per foot per night, $15 per night for 50 amp and $10 for pump out. Typical hotel setting with expensive restaurants serving just ok food. However, the restaurants nearby are good. I have one concern though besides the price and what you receive for it. That is security. Because of all the mega yachts berthed there, anyone can walk the docks at any time. There is security but I only saw him once a day and he looked somewhat disinterested. I very much enjoyed my stay and do want to return to the Lauderdale area. However, I am not sure I received value. It depends on how some of the other marinas nearby compare in price and facility.

Bad marina for boats like ours, 2013-03-12
Captain: , Corona del Mar, CA (30)

Let me count the ways
1. Most expensive to date - twice the cost of the lovely Palm Harbor Marina we just left in West Palm Beach.
2. Little security. No locked gates. We never saw a security guard.
3. Dirtiest and most run-down showers we've seen in months - hair and dirt everywhere.
4. Services not as advertised. Certainly no free newspaper as indicated on the site.
5. Wifi worked only intermittently.

The good point - friendly and helpful staff.

This marina is intended for huge self-sufficient mega yachts. Don't come if that isn't you.

Big Boat place, 2013-03-06
Captain: , Bluffton, South Carolina (327)

We have a 45 ft. Sea Ray that could be a dinghy for most of the boats in this marina. If you are small, you will go to the back of the facility which is populated with the fishing fleet and a stones throw from the beach (traffic and noise not bad at all, surprisingly). Docks are great and marina staff very helpful. Need to fuel up at an outside dock on the ICW before entering the marina itself to tie up.

full service & max price, 2013-02-27
Captain: , Sarasota (381)

Diesel 4.80/ gal.
Dockage 3$/ft
Parking ing 7$/day
Power .65/kw
No Boat US discount on diesel.
No Boat US discount on dockage except in summer.

Great place to rest/procure supplies-repairs after long crossing, 2012-06-14
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

Luckily, we arrived the first week of June which signaled the decrease in marina rates. This is a secure, affordable (in off season $1.50 +/- p/f) and convenient marina close to many restaurants and marine related businesses. We were able to have sails repaired, get new carpet (call Chris at American Custom Rug, Inc.) and get new custom made mattresses (call Comfort Custom Mattresses & Marine Bedding) and find parts, all within a few days.

The laundry is convenient as is parking.

This place definitely served our needs.

Great Location. Nice scenary, 2012-05-17
Captain: , cary, NC (274)

Spent Spring break here my 24ft boat here after trailering it down from up North. Location right next to the hotel and beach is fantastic.

Marina staff were helpful and quite friendly.

Would have been a 5 star rating, except that one morning when went out to my slip, someone left a very disgusting pile of Dog Poo on the dock right next to my boat. Now I don't know if it was a random dog, , a careless pet owner, or if one of the owners of the 200ft yachts was expressing their displeasure with my tiny 24ft (albeit brand new) watercraft in their environment. Either way it was disgusting and I don't expect to have to clean up dog poo at my slip.

Great marina facility, 2012-05-15
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale, FL (110)

I've stayed at most of the marinas in the Fort Lauderdale area. Last weekend, I stayed at Bahia Mar on Saturday night. The floating docks are a real treat, and they are in very good shape. The entrance to the marina is easy, but you need to know if you are on the north or south basin. The downloadable PDF of the marina layout was very helpful.

Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Pool area is nice, and the food at the pool bar restaurant was also very good.

As far as location goes, you cannot beat Bahia Mar. It is convienent to restaurants, the beach, and other attractions - all walking distance.

The only downside is one that is typical with most marinas. You reallly need to understand where you slip is, and make sure that it's not way in the back, near commercial boats, or near dead end bulkheads where garbage collects. It was my fault for not double checking this and after I was safely tied up in the slip, I didn't have the energy to move the boat to another slip that the marina office graciously offered. Bahia Mar is a very nice marina and a so-so resort, whereas Pier66 is a very nice resort and a so-so marina (in my humble opinion). The restaurants are certainly better at Pier66, but you have many more walkable choices at Bahia Mar - Coconuts is a big favorite and is just north of the marina (walking distance). Bahia's restarants are good, but just not at the level of some others.

I will be back to Bahia Mar for sure.

Fuel was High, 2012-03-15
Captain: , Georgetown (290)

$4.66 on 2/23/12 And we forgot to give them our Boat US Card! Stopped here for fuel early morning after leaving Lake Sylvia, no one around to help tie off, even after calling ahead on VHF. Not very friendly, would only return here again if there was no other choice.

Fuel /facilities here are good, but you pay for it, 2012-02-15
Captain: , Gulf Shores Alabama (748)

We did not stay here, but came here from Los Olas marina to top off fuel before heading offshore. Note, the discount mentioned is only for gasoline. Diesel is higher than average prices for that date. They laughed when I wanted 22 gallons of diesel at a discount. I was docked between two Ft. Lauderdale Standard Megayachts that probably just topped off at 2200 gallons.

GOOD facility but........, 2012-02-02
Captain: , Monches,wi (330)

Staying here from 1-29-12 thru 2-4-12 for Trawlerfest. FAcility is good as well as the personell albiet it's pricey.

But head's up. This is Ft. Lauderdale. First night here was extremely windy. NE at 30-35kts gusts to 40. During the night our spring lines "became untied." Woke up in the middle of the night feeling the boat moving quite a bit. both lines undone and lying in the water. I've been securing lines for 40yrs and my knots do NOT come loose. Fortunately no damage.

Next day had a brand new Trek bicycle stolen from the bike rack in broad daylight. Cable locked to pipe post. Bike and cable gone.

Just be advised....this ain't Kansas.

Expensive Fuel, No help from dock staff, 2012-02-01
Captain: , St Augustine (413)

Called them on the vhf for fuel. No one there to meet me. After several minutes walked around to find someone. To much $$ for bad service here.

Beautiful Property, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

We have only stayed here once, but the property is awesome. Pools are very nice and there is close dining.

Reasonable for the area, 2012-01-15
Captain: , PooleUK (973)

One of the more reasonably priced marinas in the Ft Lauderdale area, floating slips, stable power & wifi.
The satff are friendly and courteous and the access to the beach is great. The only downside is a daft one, when the marina was decorated with small trees in pots, they failed to choose plants that did not bear fruit, so here and now in January, we have huge flocks of local birds decending on the boats at dusk, the mess is epic!

A little bit of heaven, 2011-03-05
Captain: , Nashville, TN (290)

We were there for a week and enjoyed every minute. Docks are great floating concrete slips, everything you need is right at the dock, staff were very helpful and assisted docking and departing, rooftop pool and bar are top notch, close to good restaurants, river taxi takes you around Ft Lauderdale, beach is accross the street. It is expensive but you get a lot. We will be back.

Good Location, 2011-03-02
Captain: , Ottawa, Canada (363)

We enjoyed our stay at the Bahia Mar and the facilities and people are friendly. However, at $3 a foot + $20 for power + taxes, it's a little steep when the showers were dirty and we had to climb the back stairs to get to the pool as though we were staff at the bar. If you want good access to the beach and other Fort Lauderdale attractions, it's a good location, but not a fantastic value.

Needs updating, 2011-02-14
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1997)

We were surprised at how dirty the restrooms and showers were especially given the price per foot charge.
Locations is ideal for stopping and there is definitely alot of options for one to choose but an updated facility is definitely needed.
One boating neighbor even bought fireworks to scare off all the birds that invaded the marina which made you think you were part of the old Hitchcock movie.
But on the positive side its still warmer than CO

Good service and amenities, 2011-02-02
Captain: , San Pedro, CA (290)

Staff could not have been nicer and the location work out perfect.

great marina, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Fire Island Pines (408)

great marina and hotel. always a destination when in the area.

Excellent Marina, 2011-01-23
Captain: , Niceville Florida (300)

Great place but very expensive with little servides (no one to show you where to dock, etc) Convenient location. Able to use the water taxi to get around. Bathrooms were decent and clean. In general thought it was way to pricey for what it offered. Did really enjoy viewing oll the big ships there and suspect that is where their service goes.

Great Stay, 2010-11-29
Captain: , Ft Laud (20)

Enjoyed our time on the dock. Was great to see all of the larger yachts at the marina, Staff was very friendlly and facilities were clean. Previously stayed at Hall of Fame but found rates were similiar and facilities offered so much more. Will be back again.

Bahia Mar, 2009-06-04
Captain: , St. Louis Mo (328)

Excellent Marina in the heart of Lauderdale.

Great fun, 2008-07-17
Captain: , Miami, FL (13)

July 2008

Contrary to some other reviewers, I found the staff very accomodating even though my 38 footer could be a tender for some of the megayachts there. Perhaps because it was summer and they weren't very busy?

Nice facility with free wifi service, pump out at every slip ($), tennis courts, etc. Didn't used the restrooms so can't comment on that.

Great access to Ft. Lauderdale beach and shops/restaurants -- that's what this place is about. Total charge with electric was around $75. Check out Coconuts if you stay overnight -- affordable, very good food.

Still a must hit !, 2008-03-09
Captain: , Atlantic City, NJ (76)

As a northern boater who welcomes $2.85ft in a marina that has alot to offer Bahi Mar is a Yachting Center. Take it all in: The beach is awesome, Downtown on the strip is right there, Pick from 20 plus great places to eat and then take the water taxi to the river front. It's about access and amenities of which B.M. has both. As for the bathrooms, what little I did use them they were always clean. Been there done that over dozen times and it has not lost it's appeal yet. I own a 54 footer, certainly a little on the small side for B.M. but they have always treated me with respect.

Nice People, Dirty Facilities, 2007-07-28
Captain: , Clearwater, Fl (6)

The marina personnel are so nice, but the bath house for boaters was not cleaned once in the 3 days that I spent there. Too bad. This used to be a first class marina.

An incredible Marina... But, 2007-03-17
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1306)

The service has really slipped since our stay last year. Now it seems unless your a Mega Yacht you don't seem to matter.
I booked a slip here and when I arrived it wasn't available.
Not good. At 2.85 a foot you would expect better service.
