Reviews for Baddeck Government Wharf
The Smiling Cod, 2016-10-18
Captain: , Fowey (123)

It's worth coming to Baddeck just to enjoy the great fresh fish from The Smiling Cod shop on the Government Pier. Tom and Kate are super nice and helpful. We kept coming back for delicious lobster and crab rolls, steamed mussels, hot smoked salmon, smoked mackerel and lots of fresh fish.

It is a real gem don't miss it!

Electric voltage is WAY TOO LOW, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2709)

We came here when the marina was full wanting power to run the A/C in the sudden high temps and were distressed to find that the voltage was close to 90 when we turned anything on. That low voltage can destroy your appliances. The dockmaster is a nice guy but basically said nothing is going to be done about it.

Tie up options, 2014-06-27

Tie up to the pier. Be prepared to climb. May need fender boards.

A great government wharf for transient yachts, 2012-08-09
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1288)

Baddeck Community Wharf was our home for several days during a cruise on the Bras d'Or Lakes and we enjoyed being on the wharf very much. To be sure, it's more workboat like than yachty and you need plenty of fenders to avoid damage from the rough-hewn wood pilings (some of which are quite low!), but being on the wharf places you right at the center of the action in Baddeck--an easy walk to the co-op for groceries, to the Alexander Graham Bel;l Museum (well worth your time!), and local restaurants. The wharf manager is capable and friendly, always has a ready smile, and has answers to all your questions. We loved the new fish market on the wharf this year--great fresh seafood including Prince Edward Island mussels. And we were able to get Internet both through Bell Canada and using a local wifi signal. In short, we give this wharf and the village of Baddeck high marks and hope to return next summer.

Great location for sightseeing in the Cape Breton Highlands, 2011-10-21
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1915)

We (44' Defever) stayed several days here and rented a car from Avis to check out the local sights. The Bras d'Or Lake area is just beautiful.
