Reviews for B and B Seafood
Similer to Kilkenny, 2016-11-20
Captain: , Carolina Beach, NC (378)

Only stop between Charleston and Beaufort. Getting cold tonite and the 15 amp power will run our heat pump. Bought some great fresh shrimp at a great price. Docks a little rough but useable. No facilities.

Not so Great a Stop!, 2016-04-13
Captain: , Britt, Ontario (691)

Maybe a good seasonal stop but not so great in April. Store is only open on weekends, no shrimp, lots of flies, lots of smell from the oysters being cleaned... But at least no one to collect the $25 for the dock! Would likely call first before stopping again!

Great stopover!, 2015-08-06
Captain: , New Bern (318)

Stopped by for the shrimp as per other posters and was not disappointed! 2lbs of thee best shrimp plus two beers and dockage for $36!

As of 08-05-15 the store is open 7 days a week: M-Th 8-5. F-Sat 8-6. Sun 8-5.

No frills but real america. Met some of the locals and had a great time.

Protected stopover and good shrimp!, 2014-10-20
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (5686)

There is no restaurant here, just an outlet that sells shrimp - but very good, fresh shrimp!! We had a pound for dinner ($7/lb).

The dock is just that, a floating dock. Electricity and water are available if you happen to carry about 200 ft extensions. I could have hooked up (I carry a lot of extensions from my days of cruising in Maine) but I didn't bother. Don't expect help coming in but it was simple enough with the floating face dock. They also sell fuel which was very convenient since it's available right at the face dock.

The place has a lot of character, nothing around! But the shrimp was great! However the store is closed Mondays and Tuesdays but you may I be able to buy shrimp off the boat when it comes in.

Good stop between Charleston & Beaufort, 2013-11-18
Captain: , Edenton, NC (887)

Very basic floating dock. No power, water or wifi, but good prices on fresh shrimp and a place to land a pet. You'll likely have to handle your own lines when docking. That said we enjoy stopping here, folks are friendly and we always put some fresh shrimp in the freezer.

Depends what you are looking for, 2012-11-10
Captain: , Atlantic Coast (341)

It was a great spot for us after a long 13 hr ruin from Georgetown. Only spot in the area where we could dock to take the dog for a walk. Yes, absolutely nothing fancy about this place. But for $25 what would you expect? Three locals helped us dock and could not have been nicer. For what we wanted, it was perfect - a dock for the night in the right place. Anything fancier or more expensive would have been as waste - left early the next morning.

Not much of a place to stay, 2012-11-05
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (691)

We stayed here the evening of October 18, 2012. Other comments are accurate. It is not a pretty place or a clean place. I would not return. There is no electricity. Even at $25 it is not a place to stay.

Great Stop, but not a Marina, 2012-10-29
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4015)

If you are looking for a marina with dockhands catching your lines, power pedistals, a staffed office that answers your phone calls, showers and ship's store, this is not a place for you. But, if you want to experience some back country South Carolina, tied to a dock in a very protected creek, and pick up delicious shrimp for a fest aboard (shrimp and grits, shrimp scampi, and peal 'n eat shrimp were on our menu) then consider a night or two at B & B. The facilities consist of a wooden floating dock with water and hose, and a small store with a few convenience items and fresh shrimp. The nearby South Carolina DNR has great grass for walking/running the dogs. If the small dock is full, proceed past B & B to the indicated anchorage, returning by dinghy to the inside of the floating dock for shrimp and a dog walk. The rating is for a dock at a reasonable price and the experience of the friendly locals, not as a full service marina.

Great stopover, 2012-04-18
Captain: , Cairns, Queensland, Australia (121)

Had a great night here. Rafted up with companion boat. Price for two boats and 15 amp power plus 2 pound of fresh shrimp $40.
People were great, if there is no one around you have to dock yourself.

Fun stop with lots of local flavor, 2012-04-18
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (1476)

The B&B Seafood dock is primarily a shrimping operations, but they have a wooden floating dock which they'll rent out to transients for $25 a night. They can accomodate two boats, maybe three if they're on the smaller size. We didn't hook up to the power, though I saw outlets available; we chose to run the generator. You don't stop here for resort amenities - you stop because you're in the back of beyond and you can get the freshest, sweetest shrimp around. We bought three pounds of huge white roe shrimp and ate it all in two sittings. When the shrimp boat came in the evening we watched as it was unloaded and then they invited us into the small warehouse to watch the shrimp get rinsed and divvied up into 100 pound bins. Very friendly folks. Again, it's a great stop and we'll be back, but don't come here thinking this is a marina - this is a working shrimp operation, and while the folks here are happy to have you and are very friendly, they don't cater to you. Don't let it scare you away - it's an interesting stop with real world flavor. We liked it!

Old Carolina, 2011-11-23
Captain: , Galena, MD (1826)

Step back in time. Still wooden floating docks and still in acceptable condition. No need to call, just pull up and if there is room, dock, if not, anchor just above and dingy in to buy FRESH shrimp, still $6.95/lb. Had oysters today at $25/Bu.
If someone is nearby they will help you dock but don't expect it. Price is still $25/night. Want to know what's happening in the area, sit in the store for an hour.
This is not a marina but a working shrimp dock, similare to R E Mayo, with the same charm.

Don't bother!, 2011-06-28
Captain: , Gloucester, VA (514)

Called their number and a woman answered and said she couldn't hear me but she responded to my conversation and told me to call back and abruptly hung up on me. When I redailed the number she picked up the phone and hung up on me. On my third attempt, all I got was a busy signal. Don't bother with these people. They are to busy with whatever they are doing to even answere the phone..!!!

NOT A CHANCE, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE, 2010-12-03
Captain: , MONARCH. COLORADO (1156)

THIS IS RED NECK CENTRAL IN THE BACK WOODS OF SOUTH CAROLINA. IF YOU VALUE YOUR BOAT, AVOID THIS PLACE. THE SMALL DISCOUNT IN FUEL PRICE IS NOT WORTH THE RISK OF A RICKETY OLD DOCK AND OWNERS THAT JUST DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE THERE OR NOT. WE FUELED HERE TWO SEASONS AGO AND WHILE FUELING WE WERE HIT BY A BARGE COMING IN TO FUEL. WE TOOK 200 GAL AND HE TOOK 4000GAL. THE OWNER LOOKED AT US AND SAID WE MUST HAVE MOVED INTO HIS PATH. WE WERE TIED TO THE DOCK! i WOULD NEVER RETURN HERE EVEN IF I WAS ON FUMES. IS THERE A RATING LESS THAN 1?

worth a stop, 2009-06-09
Captain: , Jacksonville FL (84)

diesel fuel on June 2, 2009 was $2.00 a gallon. We stayed overnight on our 44 foot boat for $20.00. No electric and no amenities but there is fresh water. The fresh shrimp sold at the store is well worth it. We paid $6.95 a pound for 16 count.

B and B Seafood, 2009-05-22
Captain: , Beaufort, SC (261)

Unless things have changed there is no restaurant. There is a small store where you can pick up beer, crackers, chips, etc. GOOD place to pick up some fresh off the boat shrimp. Mostly a working dock with the occasional colorful local character. Go a little further up the Ashepoo and look for alligators sunning on the banks.

Cheap fuel and good shrimp, 2008-03-31
Captain: , Old Saybrook, CT (1021)

We had to go a bit out of our way because of some poor fuel planning on our new boat. The result was the discovery of some very inexpensive fuel and some excellent shrimp at a good price as well as some interesting dockside conversation.

just the basics, 2007-11-22
Captain: , Belhaven, NC (363)

This place is special, if only to provide contrast with some of the mega-marinas you might stay at. This place is mostly a dock for the shrimp boat Billie B. It also has a floating dock with room for two boats at $25/day. Good place to wait for half rising tide to get through the Ashpoo Coosaw cutoffs.

Cheap fuel, Good shrimp?, 2007-11-16
Captain: , fairland (2653)

Fuel is expensive everywhere now. The shrimp are great in season $25.00 flat rate to dock.
