Reviews for Armdale Yacht Club Marina
Have to be honest - great people but facility is not up to standards, 2015-08-25
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

I give the staff and other boaters 5 stars, but I have to be objective with the rest. Dock is 3 stars - adequate. Electrical power is a 1 star - not sufficient plugs for all boats and VERY limited on what you can draw - be happy with 10-15A if you can get it. Heads and showers are 1.5 stars - we have seen worse but they are bordering on disgusting.

Very nice People, 2015-05-26
Captain: , Germany (11)

When we arrived at Armdales we found lots of nice and helpful people. All of them made our stay in Halifax a great experience.

Most Welcoming, 2015-05-11
Captain: , Crosshaven, Co cork, Ireland (184)

We were the first foreign boat this year. The members were so surprised that anybody would arrive so early in the season. There was still ice everywhere and the pontoons had not been put back in position. The members could not do enough for us and made us so welcome. The shops and laundry are a good walk away but there is a good bus service every half an hour from outside the yacht club.

Super nice folks, 2014-07-11
Captain: , Portland, Maine (845)

This is a very welcoming and friendly yacht club. We spent a week here during TS Arthur. We used the time to explore Halifax and surrounding areas. AYC is the perfect location. Many offers to use cars or provide rides.

Excellent small place with plenty of access to stores, 2013-10-23
Captain: , Vancouver (510)

Arrived on saturday and stayed until monday. The harbor master was gone for the weekend and noone seemed to care if we stayed at the fuel dock since noone was there to sell fuel. We were shown by members where to take a shower, get water and where the stores were. The shower facility was huge with plenty of toilets. Great bar on hilltop clubhouse. Excellent bus service to the Walmart and grocery store nearby (within walking distance) and busses to historic Halifax only a few miles away with its super waterfront activities. Very picturesque and laid back atmosphere in a very well protected basin. It doesn't get better for a passage-maker than this.

Needs some work, great place, 2013-07-30
Captain: , Toronto, ON (1749)

We were there on a Monday and the clubhouse was closed (also Tuesdays). But it was a great place to tie up, very sheltered and close to some great reprovisioning.

Visit mid July 2013, 2013-07-20
Captain: , Cape Elizabeth (492)

No moorings were in place when we came by. Could not reach the club on VHF but when we reached the club by cell they said we could anchor if we paid the mooring fee. After listening to the heavy traffic and many ambulance sirens heading to the city hospitals, went back down to RNSYS.

OMG! Not terribly polished, but WHAT A PLACE!, 2013-07-03
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (3112)

First, the people are simply the most down to earth, friendly, gracious, welcoming...Right now there is still some rebuilding of the infrastructure going on, and all the moorings aren't in, so if you go in and ask for a mooring they will give you a dock for the price of a mooring. We happened to be there on Wed (race night), and I went looking to crew and ended up skippering. Then we went to the bar and had more drinks bought for us than we could finish...Moorings are now $25/ night. Easy bike ride to Sobeys, Walmart, and the Binnacle is walking distance.

Armdale Yacht Club, 2012-07-09
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (578)

Friendly and sociable place that is reasonably priced. Easy access to the Binnacle Chandlery and bus service to the heart of the city is nearby. The showers were open when we were there but only one person could get warm water. The rest of us had cold showers. We'd still recommend the place.

A far Better Place, 2009-08-01
Captain: , Barnegat NJ USA (610)

The Armdale YC is in a league of its own when compared with the Squadron. For reasons I don't fully grasp, the folks at the RNSYS seem to believe that they still live in the times of the British Raj. The Armdale, OTOH, is chock full of the friendliest and well informed folks one is likely to encounter on this coast. The moorings and docks are located in a completely protected basin at the end of the Northwest Arm, and anyone one bumps into there is more than ready to offer a friendly comment, advice, help, the loan of a car, etc. In addition there is a "pitch right in" attitude that is quite catchy. We made many friends there in 2 separate visits. If one desires, it's easy to run around to the Halifax waterfront and tie in for some hustle and bustle.

Well protected marina with no cruiser facilities, 2008-09-09
Captain: , Newport, RI (10275)

The marina is extremely well protected (much better than Royal NS Yacht Squadron) and the staff is extremely friendly. However, the bathroom/showers aren't open during normal showering hours (open at 9 AM) and there are no laundry facilities. There's bus service, but you wouldn't want to haul laundry/groceries far. Rental cars are available from Budget for the great price of $28/day. There's a nearby chandlery.
