Reviews for Arizona Yacht Club
Arizona Yacht Club, 2012-08-04
Captain: , Mesa, Arizona (113)

The Arizona Yacht Club has about 200 members and conducts keelboat races at Lake Pleasant, NW of Phoenix, and dinghy racing at Tempe Town Lake just east of downtown Phoenix and Sky Harbor Airport. Monthly meetings are typically held at restaurant (Caddy Shack) at the Rolling Hills Golf Course in Papago Park. (AYC is a "paper club" although it is very active and owns a small fleet of boats for its race committee and for member use.) The AYC's signature event is its Birthday Regatta and Leukemia Cup charity event, held on the MLK weekend in January and Lake Pleasant. Many AYC members keep boats in southern CA and many also participate in an annual club cruise to Catalina Island. The club supports a speaker series at its meeting and has brought many notable sailors to speak to and meet with members.
