Reviews for Ardrishaig Basin Marina
Ardrishaig, 2016-09-02
Captain: , Conwy, N. Wales (13850)

We arrived late afternoon so stayed the night in the sea loch, which was fine although the waterfall coming off the lock gates was interesting. A fender board was useful, and that applies to the whole of the Crinan canal. The staff were great - really helpful and efficient. The first time we visited, as we were short handed so we took advantage of their 'assisted passage' facility but unfortunately this service has now been stopped so we had to work a lot harder!

The facilities in Ardrishaig are basic but functional and clean, with one toilet and one shower shared by everyone. The lock keepers will let you know the code when you arrive.

The Crinan Canal is a must see - we've done quite a bit of narrow boating in the past, so navigating a canal on a yacht was very unusual. The scenery is beautiful, especially approaching the Crinan end and on Crinan itself.

The "marina" is erally the entrance to the Crinan Canal
Entry is by a lock, at all states of tiede, but not open 24 hours
Check canal web site for hours, which are quite long, but variable in summer
Possible to anchor outside if weather OK
Town is OK, with a couple of pubs and limited grocery shopping at Co-op
