Interesting Stop, 2016-08-13

Long way up river. Have repair, Haulout if needed. Small store. Would stop again if needed.

Convenient Marina, 2016-06-27
Captain: , Apollo Beach (161)

Normally we anchor in Crystal River but this scalloping trip we moored Pegasus (44 Manta PwCat) at Twin Rivers Marina to take advantage of the north setting current for our trip to Steinhatchee. We don't scallop this area we leave it for the tourist. Our first visit to this marina and we found it above average for the area although a little pricy for its remote location at $2 per foot plus electric. Actually there are really no marinas in Crystal River that can accommodate our 21 foot beam but Rachael went out of her way and secured us a place at the end of the fuel dock. The staff ran extra cords to make sure we had 60 amps. Water was weak but serviceable and tasted good. The marina is also off the river so no wakes and less current. One of our better stays on a fuel dock, maybe not as pricy as I first thought. We'll visit again if allowed because it saves us the long run up river to the anchorage.
The marina is a long way from the town's attractions so we launched the dink and motored to Margarita Breeze for a sandwiches. They were very tasty but the sides of calamari and conch fritters were not. There are a lot of waterfront restaurants and we'll try another next time.
The channel is narrow with a tight turn Pegasus completely fills up and there is a shallow bump at the outer most R & G markers but we cleared it with feet to spare to find plenty for our 3 foot draft any tide the rest of the run.
Crystal River is the only place people are allowed to interact with manatee. If you have never experienced sea cows they are an awesome spectacle when seen face to face through a divers mask in crystal clear water. Even thought they are often referred to as "the gentle giants" never forget they are wild animals that demand respect. Never corner, chase, or touch a manatee. Not only is it against the law it is dangerous.

Dredging complete, 2016-01-02
Captain: , Houston (72)

They have now completed the dredging from the river center to the rear pf the dock where the travel lift is )min depth 5.0 ft at mlw). Negotiated a short haul of 46 ft boat at $8.00 per foot and had it pressure washed for $100.00. Fuel was .60c/gal more than Pete's pier so did not fill up here.
Nice folks and the only haul out before Tarpon Springs.

Lots of changes and maybe a few hiccups, 2015-07-02
Captain: , High Springs, FL (686)

I had my boat hauled out so I could do some quick repairs. The water is plenty deep for my draft but you may want to wait until high tide if you draw more than 4.5'.

It's the only travel lift in the area so the choices are limited. I was quoted several different prices on what it would cost to haul and block the boat and it took a while get it all figured out.

The haul out went without much drama and I was charged $12/ ft. for the process. They charge $25 for each day in the yard. Unfortunately for me, I was in the yard less than 48 hours but they consider a day to be each tick on the calendar, so I was charged for three days.

The staff was very friendly which is a plus and there is a lot of tourist activity and boat rentals going on so keep a keen eye out for the wayward boater.

Great Service and Easy Access, 2013-09-12
Captain: , Crystal River, FL (10)

We love Twin Rivers. The service is excellent and the on-site staff is eager to lend a hand. They have an on-site mechanic who is very knowledgeable and helpful. The only down-side is that they are very busy during scallop season as they are the closest full-service marina to the Gulf of Mexico.

Bare bones marina, 2012-08-06
Captain: , charleston (761)

Arrived after hours so docked on our own. Transient slips are a long way from office and marina so that is a drawback. Nothing is within walking distance. Everything is a dingy ride away. Crystal River is a very interesting and neat area to be explored by dingy. Be sure to to Three Sisters Springs and swim up to the springs. Local boater loaned us his car.

New Ownership, 2011-11-20
Captain: , Little River, SC (1967)

This marina is under new ownership. The facilities are very sparse. Men's room and ladies room were old but clean. Only the ladies room had a shower. The people however, were very friendly and helpful. Their supplies are extremely limited but do have gas and diesel and offer a 10% Boat/US discount. We needed a mechanic to clean our fuel filters and bleed the engines (we had just purchased this boat) and they had two mechanics that were very efficient and seemed competent. Lot's of manatees just off of the fuel dock.

called to make sure they had a spot for us before we crossed the gulf and check for price. Once we crossed and got close, we called and the price went up to $1.75, we were told it was the new Christmas special price! We turned south and went into Tarpon Springs........
