Reviews for Daytona Marina and Boat Works
My Kinda Marina, 2017-08-03
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1306)

We've often stayed at this marina over the years. Now Daytona Marina and Boatworks are working to improve on an already fine marina. Bob, The Harbour Master, was very helpful. There a deep channel going in and and easy marina to dock. I asked for a marine tech and one showed up the same day, did the work and billed me fairly.
The Chart House restaurant is excellent. Happy Hour had really good small plates and early dinner prices and everything was very good. WiFi was an issue. It did work but not fast enough to stream video. They acknowledged the problem and they're working on it.

great fiberglass repair, 2017-06-09
Captain: , st. pete (40)

Needed some fiberglass repair while passing through Daytona area. Called the marina who could not have been more helpfull even though we did not dock there. Refered us to Rubin Caceras who has a fiberglass/paint facility on the marina property. Rubin went out of his way to fit us into his schedule and repaired our damage so that it is invisable. If you need any fiberglass work done, Rubin Caceras is the guy you want to do it.

A very enjoyable overnight stop!, 2017-05-28
Captain: , Palm Coast (21)

Although we've had our boat hauled here for bottom paint and other maintenance in the past (excellent work), we never considered it for a destination. Our recent overnight stay over this Memorial Day weekend was very enjoyable. We reserved a slip several days in advance with the harbormaster, Dave Ellinor. Dave set everything up for us including a reservation for dinner at the onsite Chart House Restaurant. Upon arrival, an experienced dock hand met us and assisted with tie up and fueling. Everyone was pleasant and professional and provided great service. Wi-Fi was solid, bathrooms clean and well-maintained. Yes, there are mostly fixed docks at this marina, but all that we saw were in good repair and the tide is only 2' or so not a big deal, at least to us. Good wind protection once inside with plenty of water depth. We had a great dinner with a pleasant desert surprise at the end-- courtesy of Dave. A lazy morning with a noon departure worked beautifully for us. We'll be back!

Not a good stop for transients, 2017-03-11
Captain: , Michigan City, IN, USA (290)

Before arriving our expectations were high, several good reviews and good telephone communication made reservation easy for a transient slip. I rely on the reviews from other boaters when I choose a marina, accurate information is very important for a good stay, that's why I am providing this review, we are currently tied to their dock and this reivew is accurate, other boats need to know what to expect if they come here. On entering the small basin we see fixed docks that would work well for a boat with eight feet of freeboard, but that's not us. No cleats - just tie your docklines around a piling - need chaffe guard because your lines will rub and cut away on the dock edges. Fenders must be horizontal because of the pilings. Dockhand tells me only one foot of tide - so no problem making docklines somewhat tight, however tide chart shows about three feet of tide. Really nothing close to this marina except a Chart House Restaurant, which is nice. Bathrooms need updating, boaters lounge has two plastic chairs, one plastic love seat, one fuseball table and that's it. There are washers and dryers here, but wife decided not to do laundry because the laundry room looked particularly dirty with occasional drip of water falling from the ceiling where ceiling tiles are missing. Wife showered when we arrived, however after walking into the laundry area she had to shower again because of the drips from the ceiling and overal filth. I cannot comment on the boatyard, we are here as transients for one night. For our 41 ft sailboat using one 30 amp service our bill was $91.48 - seems high priced for what very little you get as a transient.

On time, on budget!, 2017-01-15
Captain: , Cincinnati, OH (110)

We had our 53 footer pulled for a bottom paint job plus some other miselaneous work last Monday. Kevin had provided a quote/estimate for the work we planned to have done. Once we got the boat out of the water, we discovered a bent rudder. They were able to pull , straighten the rudder, (two hours labor plus a very fair price to straighten the rudder) and finish everything by Friday afternoon as promised. I highly recommend this boatyard! No surprises!

Excellent staff and hospitality, 2016-11-26
Captain: , Kent Island, MD (270)

We were lucky to be able to stay here on our trip south. Dave, the manager, was waiting for us when we arrived and ably docked us for fuel and for overnight. Three of us came in at the same time and he handled each of us courteously and with docking expertise that I have rarely seen. Luke arrived as we were checking in and gave us all the info about Daytona and a coupon for the Chart House that is right on the same property. He also was friendly, welcoming, and able to answer any question we had. We had an excellent stay!

Nice Marina, great staff, 2016-07-08
Captain: , Wickford, RI (456)

We really enjoyed staying at this marina, the staff is helpful, friendly, and engaging, you can tell they like boaters, and are there to help. Easy in and out docking, stay toward the green coming in the entrance, although we always had plenty of water, coming and going.

On our way North we stopped here again. Very helpful docking. Same friendly and engaging service. In the morning we needed fuel, so they handled the lines to get us to the fuel dock, and then again when we left. When hearing we were heading North, they gave us a sheet explaining the route through some trouble stops at Matanza. We'll be back in the Fall.

The yard guys stepped up, on short notice, to help us after we struck some floating item in the ICW. Much appreiated.

A delightful hidden surprise., 2016-04-21
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (240)

Through MTOA, we won and free night here and stayed for two. It's not a knock-your-sox-off marina but Dave, the manager makes it a 5 star stop, in our opinion. How many times have you had a dock master greet you by first name before you even get close enough to give him our lines. He saw me on the bridge early this morning and brought me today's paper, again addressing me by name. We look forward to stopping here again. Just next door to Halifax Marina where we've been several times so the neighborhood felt familiar to us. Dave is ourstanding!!!

Nice a Marina and great on site mechanical vendor, 2016-03-21
Captain: , Charleston, SC (10)

On. recent trip South we ran into transmission problems on our 42' sailboat. Had to get towed into Daytona Marina at 10:30 pm. Dockmaster was waiting on the dock for our arrival as well as Ray. owner of Rays Marine Services. Ray had our transmission out by 9 am and diagnosed by 10 am. Overall a bad situation turned into a better one. Ray got our V drive back in and working 100% within a few days. and off we went to Keys and beyond.

Waste of time, 2016-03-03
Captain: , ft myers beach fl (51)

I was next door at Halifax harber marina, I stopped at the office to see if they work on inflatable. The lady didn't seem to know, but I could go to west marine an get a patch kit.

This place is the best!, 2016-02-08
Captain: , Carlyle, IL (364)

Dave the onsite dock master is the best. This is mostly a marina catering to large mega yachts but we were treated the same even though we're only 42 feet. The bathrooms are brand new and beautiful. They are clean every day. There is a comfortable lounge, an onsite laundry, and a small amount of items in a store. Docks are well built, sturdy, but pretty high for smaller boats. The fuel and pump out are easily accessible on the face dock. There is a Chart House restaurant onsite (kind of pricey) but everything you need is within walking distance. There's a 7-11 across the street, a library just up the road, and a beautiful river walk with tons of very interesting shops including the Abraxas Book shop, worth a trip all its own. We spent a week here and loved it all.

Great marina, great boat yard, great people., 2015-11-29
Captain: , Lake City, MN (40)

We unexpectedly diverted to this marina after developing transmission problems during our offshore passage. Their claim of 24-hr service is so true as we called them at 2:00 a.m. and a real person answered (not a recording!). The service was impeccible as a mechanic was on the dock when we arrived and our problems were promptly addressed. Special kudos to Dave, who is the NICEST and most skilled dockmaster we have ever met. This will definitley be our marina of choice when passing thru Daytona. Highly recommend.

Wonderful service!, 2015-11-09
Captain: , Clearwater Beach, FL (20)

We had some prop damage and called ahead. Dave had Joe and his diver Crash waiting for us when we arrived. The repair and the service could not have been better! Our prop was ready the next day. We will definitely stay there again. The whole staff was fabulous and the service was outstanding. Chart House is on the property and they have a great happy hour! Good food and good service not to mention a great view over the water!

Great marina, and keeps improving, 2015-11-03
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1007)

Roberto and Maria
We've been coming here for the last three seasons, heading south and back north on the ICW. Every time we return there is some improvement. Came in yesterday 11/2/15 and met Dave the harbor master, who is the most accommodating, helpful and friendly person. Looking forward to returning in the Spring.
My only suggestion would be for them to improve their wifi. It is a necessity these days and I'd stay longer if I could actually use the internet to get some work done.

Roberto & Maria
48' Kadey Krogen

We stayed here one night on our way North this past April.
Friendly staff, easy in and out from ICW. Decent restrooms and showers.

Fast forward to last night (11/9/14)
We stopped again for the night and were pleasantly surprised by the improvements. New docks, newly renovated, beautiful tiled restrooms and showers. Good wifi, and the Chart House is right on the premises.
New management is defensively working hard to make this a great stop.
Will come back again for sure.

A Gem. Trustworthy, reliable mechanical work., 2015-08-22
Captain: , New York, NY (20)

Being novice boaters, we ran aground and bent our prop. People had us believing that all kinds of things might be wrong with the boat/engines/prop shaft. We had to leave the boat for a while due to family obligations. Kevin, the owner/head mechanic, was completely honest, diagnosed the problem and got the boat running perfectly again at a fraction of what I thought would end up paying. The marina is clean, the bathrooms/showers are immaculate, and the staff was friendly, helpful and professional. I highly reccomend Daytona Boatworks to anyone in the area, even if you need to travel some to get there.

Highly Recommended, 2015-08-22
Captain: , New York City (91)

This is the place to go! They handled our repairs in the time they promised and showed such skill in their work and integrity in their billing we really couldn't be happier. As a marina- the bathrooms and showers were very clean, and there's a nice little restaurant right next to the dockmaster's office. As a place for repairs- highly recommended; you can trust them.

Great Marina, 2015-05-20
Captain: , Jacksonville (40)

Great marina and perfect location (Chart House on premise). Easy dockage and 24/7 help. Quite and less crowded than other marina's close by. Take a cab/uber to the boardwalk if your travelling with kids and need an evening break.

Daytona Marina, 2015-03-26
Captain: , Cincinnati, Oh. (140)

Great Marina, easy in and out, side tie, electric and water hook up waist high, Wi-Fi, fuel and pump out. Owner births his boat in the marina and is actively attending to upgrades. Personnel are direct employees very experienced watermen and waterwomen, Charthouse restaurant located dockside, next to harbormasters office, offers excellent dinning-early bird specials-happy hour.

Mr. Kevin Mooney, marina manager is extremely knowledgeable and will make sure any work undertaken at the marina will be professionally preformed and at a reasonable cost. This is a full facility marina, 50 ton travel lift / Painting-Bottom jobs- Ruben Rossio/ Electrical-Capt. Patrick Adsit/ Diving %u2013Joe Kuehl/Shafts props-Mark at Tomoka Propeller. Outstanding Facility.

Stopped here for some service work, quite impressed, 2015-02-16
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1130)

Had some minor electronics and engine work done here last Spring. Marina brought in outside contractors and co-ordinated the work very expeditiously and for reasonable cost. I think we spent whatever we saved at the yard in the excellent on-site Chart House restaurant and bar, however!

A hidden gem., 2015-02-06
Captain: , St. Louis (340)

Like the previous reviewer we were unlucky and arrived here needing repairs. They found us a spot near the travelift for the night (Sunday) and the next morning Kevin Mooney, the manager, awas right there to assess the damage to our running gear. Between Kevin & Mark from Tomoka Propeller they did a thorough investigation. The next day they hauled us and removed, props, shafts, rudders; Tomoko Propeller had made up stubby units to fill the holes so that we could safely float while the work was being done in the shop. Being transient we REALLY appreciated that courtesy. This yard did everything possible to expedite our repair and get us on our way. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. They did what they said, when they said, and came in very close to the estimate. If you are in the area don't hesitate to use this facility. The marina side has good transisent dock and facilities, great wi-fi too. A dockmaster is there 24/7 and they know their stuff...thanks Dave for even rescuing a fender when we were moved back to the lift.

A Daimond in the Rough, 2015-01-16
Captain: , Lewes, DE (514)

We were unfortunate enough to need a tow when our prop shaft broke about 6 miles north of Daytona. The towboat operator suggested we call Daytona Marina and Boat Works to get a slip and that they could help us out.
BLUF-It was great!
The marina is manned 24 hrs a day so when we got here (late) there was someone here to help us in and get settled. He also alerted the yard manager who came by the next morning to review the damage and we got hauled that afternoon. We needed a diver to push the prop back into the hull before we could get hauled and they had one show up right on time. The next day a prop guy (Tomoka Propellors) who picked through the damage, assessed the situation and left to order tha parts. The yard handled everything and we got the repairs done efficiently at a reasonable cost. We lived on the boat while on the hard and although that was a hassle it was unavoidable.
The physical plant here is in need of repairs but they are being done. The new owner is working to improve things as the result of a disastrous sale toa developer tha collapsedand left the marina neglected for years.
All the staff are friendly and very helpful. Everyone is extremely customer focused and will do anything to help. While we were on the hard they gave us a small refrigerator to use that they used to keep drinks cold.
Heads were clean and neat.
Bonus is the Chart House restaurant on the grounds that has a great happy hour. Downtown is just a few blocks for wallking ro biking and the beach isn't far either.
Kevin Mooney the yard manager will ensure that any repairs are completed to your satisfaction. The staff here really provide customer service.

Great spot, great service., 2014-12-03
Captain: , Key Largo (122)

Knowledgeable and experienced staff on duty 24/7, pumped out at 0600 when departing. Good wi-fi. Only downside was that noisy work was being done on one yacht at transient dock.

Very nice stop, 2014-10-01
Captain: , New London, CT (80)

This marina is being carefully restored to serve as a great stopping point for transients. The enthusiasm and energy of the marina staff, led by Dave, is outstanding. The new ownership is committed to providing competitive pricing and good quality throughout the marina. There is still work to do (the restrooms are undergoing upgrades and should be completed soon). We will definitely stop back on our way north next year.

great new / old marina, 2014-09-05
Captain: , Deland fl (10)

I have been around the Daytona Marina and Boatworks for most of my life. As a yacht captain, I now stay there when in Daytona. The new side of the marina is the new owners are working hard to make the marina like it was in the hay days. New dock decking, some new staff ect. Also the boat repair yard work is excellent. The staff is very attentive and keep me informed of any situation that may affect the yacht. Great facility, great town..

Awesome New Marina!!, 2014-09-04
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (34)

Daytona Marina and Boat Works has new owners who are diligently repairing and upgrading the facility. New docks, new bathrooms, and new WiFi are just the beginning!! The staff is very professional and courteous and are on-site 24/7 for all of our needs. This is a very nice little marina, close to downtown. Fuel prices are great too! The entrance channel is well-marked, and arrival and departure is easy. Large turning basin inside marina. If you like a small, quaint, historic marina......this is the one. Our thanks to the entire crew there!! We will be back every year!!

excellent folks make this marina stellar, 2014-06-04
Captain: , Biloxi, MS (80)

It is the folks that made this older marina work. We were there for repairs for 2 weeks (on the hard), and could not have been treated better by Ruben and his crews making repairs, and the marina operators. Shout out to Ruben, WE MADE IT! We left straight into TS Andrea, but after two weeks on the hard it was time to go! Definitely get a tour of the museum, is fascinating.

Great Paint!, 2014-02-01
Captain: , Murrells Inlet, SC (66)

Came for paint work by Ruben at R & R Marine back in the sheds. Can't say enough about the quality of their work and the friendliness of everyone at the marina. Make sure you see Rick and get a tour of his Daytona Boat Works Museum on site. Special shout out to Connie, Rick, Kevin, Ruben, and Danny. Ya'll rock!

Next door to Halifax Harbour, 2013-11-14
Captain: , Aquia Harbour, VA (1177)

Good alternative to Halifax Harbour if you don't mind wooden fixed docks. They are along side though and in mostly good shape. Good helpful staff that even walk the docks at night checking on boats. Came in for repair service. Mechanics and haul out a different operation but located in the same basin. Very impressed with Ray's Marine and Power Service. Very competent, fast work, at a reasonble rate.

Top Notch Service!!, 2013-11-13
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (10)

Kevin and Rick will treat you like royalty! The on-site yard, complete with travel lift can arrange for any repairs you may need. The Chart House restaurant is excellent. The happy hour in the downstairs bar is the best deal in town!

Great fuel stop, 2013-10-01
Captain: , Bayou Bonfouca, LA- Great Loop Cruiser (708)

We contacted another marina south of here by phone to ask diesel prices. The lady told me she didn't know and couldn't check them for me. SO I called Aquamarine and they quoted me $4.02/gal. The price was almost $.20 a gallon cheaper than several marinas around.
We fueled up 500 gallons before heading north.
I hgihly recommend this stop.

Great service, great staff, great location, 2013-05-29
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

second time here, second review. called ahead for a slip and to arrange some repairs to water pump and power cord. dockmaster and staff very helpful in docking and then making arrangements for dinner. mechanic showed up early next morning, promptly repaired our problems and we were underway before 11am. good dinner at chart house on the premises.

Great. Stopover , 2013-03-25
Captain: , Reedville, VA (689)

Great little secret on the waterway. You get the big yacht treatment for a small price. Will stop again. Other reviews are right on.

Nice place to stop, 2013-03-13
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

We were a little bit big for the transient spot we ended up in, but the location was fine and the marina itself was very nice. The dockmaster was kind enough to make a reservation for us at the onsite Chart House and to our delight and surprise we were treated like royalty at the restaurant complete with personalized menus and a complimentary appetizer. We were just passing through on our way south and stayed only one night, but we would definitely return here for a longer visit.

Nice place, 2012-12-13
Captain: , Oxford, Md (130)

Decent bathrooms, very friendly staff, dock hand/master in the office 24/7. Need fenders for the sea wall, with a wind from the east it could be rough.

Great place for emergency repairs, 2012-03-16
Captain: , Oviedo (306)

Stopped here for repairs. Quick response - reasonable price.
Chart House restaurant is top of the line.

Good Marina, 2012-03-05
Captain: , Georgetown (290)

We stopped for fuel, well marked but close to 6 ft at low tide. Great staff, very welcoming with free gifts

Our place to stay, 2012-02-23
Captain: , Manasquan, NJ (40)

this is my stop going south or north, usually late getting dark. Dock master on duty 24/7 freindly and helpful. Fixed docks mostly side to tie up, easy in and out well marked channel. Having the resturante on site fantastic! During this stop the dock master bought us a treat for the end of our meal.

24 hour dockmaster, 2011-11-04
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Arrived late, 24 hour dockmaster on duty. Chart house restaurant on site. Easy in & out, well marked channel.

A good stop, 2011-04-13
Captain: , Kilmarnock, VA (300)

Easy into and out of the marked channel and fixed docks with side ties. Staff is friendly and helpful and pricing is decent for the area.
Nice turning basin with plenty of swing room and no current. Our preferred place when trasiting through.

Aquamarina in receivership, 2011-03-10
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (227)

We stopped here for Bike Week and it was the right choice. The bank owns the place, so there isn't much happing at the marina itself, but the price is right. They offered us a monthly rate that put Halifax to shame. But, this is a big boat marina. The warfage is side tie only to high fixed docks. Be prepared with large fenders / fender boards to bump up against the telephone pole pilings. That said, it is well protected and a good spot for walking to downtown and enjoying the town. We carry a motorcycle, so getting out to the race track and other events was a snap.

Aqua Marina/ Daytona Boat Works, 2008-12-03
Captain: , Sanford, Fl. (887)

The old marina is under new management with basically the old staff. Most of the dockage is tie alongside. Can be tight manuvering depending on the mix of boats in the basin. Chart House restaurant on site is excellent but expensive. Ask the dock master to make reservations and you will get some special treatment at the restaurant.

Closing, 2008-04-13
Captain: , Daytona Beach (12)

DMBW will be closing the doors on May 1 2008 due to developers and the tax man.

Easy Docking, 2007-11-30
Captain: , Ft. Myers (406)

Good stopover. Chart House on property (very pricy, but good) and West Marine is walkable.

Race Week, 2007-04-26
Captain: , Ocala (7)

Nice marina per other post, plus during race weeks in Feb alot of the Nascar drivers and owners bring their boats into this marina.

Convenient and well-placed, 2007-01-29
Captain: , Palm City, FL (113)

Well-protected dockage, with long piers offering tie-ups for medium to large-size boats. Very good restaurant just steps from the docks. Depth adequate for 4-ft draft vessels even inside the basin corner, with greater depth at most locations. Easy access to "downtown".
