Reviews for Aqualand on the Potomac
Day Trip Extended., 2016-07-13
Captain: , Solomons Island (20)

Stopped on way up the Potomac. Channel somewhat narrow. Bathroom was not clean and had multiple exposed pipes, soft floors, no soap, etc. Store by fuel pumps no longer manned by staff. Had to call twice to get staff to come down from main store (across marina). Then had to go to main store to pay. A 10 minute stop turned into a 60 minute delay. Not cool. Go elsewhere.

Terrible service - stay away, 2014-10-14
Captain: , virginia beach (70)

We stopped in midday on 27SEP14. We tried hailing on ch 16/68/72 with no response; we called the landline, no answer. When we pulled up to the fuel pier, the attendant waved at us, but did not come out to assist us even though no one else was there. The attendant didn't know how much diesel was and asserted that they no longer gave a BoatUS discount (like they used to, due to new management). I planned to get approx 100 gals of diesel, but ended up getting only about 60 gals because their tank was near empty - again, a surprise to the attendant. I've since changed my fuel fillters which were filthy, I presume due to this fuel. I've since refueled in DC, where diesel was surprisingly cheaper! Stay away from Aqualand as they do not deserve your patronage.

Nice little shop, 2014-06-17
Captain: , Neabsco Creek, VA (251)

Services aren't great, but they've got lots of bait and gas and plenty of snacks. The folks were very friendly and had us in and out in a jiffy.

Few Places for Fuel in the Area, But Be Careful, 2014-05-14
Captain: , Occoquan, VA (370)

About the only place for fuel (gas and diesel) in the vicinity of the 301 bridge. However, be very careful of the VERY narrow entrance and shoaling. Narrow channel necessitated complete entry into marina/basin, and then turn around to get fuel--a close call for my 38" cruiser. On the good side, the convience store was nice as was the staff.

Shallow Entrance and Water in Fuel, 2013-10-13
Captain: , Quantico, VA (261)

Even though the staff said the entrance has plenty of water, we bumped with a draft of 4' at high tide. We were desperate for fuel and filled up at slightly inflated prices. Found out after we left that we had picked up water and had to bleed the system several times and change fuel filters prior to our destination.

Fuel and Convenience Store, 2012-11-07
Captain: , Woodbridge (278)

Basically one of the few fuel stops in the area. Very narrow and shoaling inlet. Wouldn't want to try and get in with anything larger than a mid-sized express cruiser. Pump out wasn't working on my last vist..

Its a Pit Stop, 2012-02-08
Captain: , SeaScape Marina (310)

Clean outside toilets. Fuel reasonably priced. Day Dock.

Agualand Fuel Stop, 2010-07-07
Captain: , Swan Point, MD (85)

Convenient fuel stop when in the vicinity of the U.S.301 bridge over the Potomac. A bit on the expense side, but nothing else close by.

Stay Away, 2008-06-25
Captain: , Alexandria VA (59)

I hate to run down a place yet this one is to be avoided.
The narrow cut channel into the harbor is shoaling badly
as the sea walls are failing. If a boat is at the fuel dock there’s very little choice but to try to squeak by and drag bottom. The piers/docks are literally falling apart and the fuel is noticeably more expensive than other marinas in the area. The small store is essentially drinks only, no groceries and few provisions.
It's a shame since the location and access is very convenient to the main Potomac channel yet these factors make this one to bypass unless you are desperate for fuel.
