Reviews for Aqua Yacht Harbor
Great place to wait for the hurricanes to pass, 2017-09-16
Captain: , Corpus Christi (406)

We spent 2 weeks here while the what was left of the hurricanes passed through the area at reduced intensity - mostly rain.

The amenities are great - courtesy vans, covered slips, pool, on site restaurant(only open Thur-Sun in off season), cable, good water pressure, floating docks, clean restrooms and showers, Looper discount for slips. Other loopers were really happy with the service department - we did not need them. Everybody was very helpful. Only negative is the slow internet.

We were on D dock and had really friendly long term tenants - invited us to the "Tiki Hut" - we would definately stay there again.

nice marina, super service fdepartment, 2017-06-23
Captain: , Kent Island, MD (40)

We had a problem with our generator and called there service department. They had someone on our boat within two hours who diagnosed it. The parts were order and delivered the next day. Super service!
They went out of there way to get us back on our trip quickly.

stayed there on 1/19/17, 2017-01-25
Captain: , Alabama (252)

great stop. met us on the dock to help tie up. Offered courtesy car. Wifi slow but it was rainy and cloudy. Great docks

Ok Marina, Horrible Internet Connection, 2016-12-14
Captain: , West Bend, WI (134)

Two friendly guys grabbed lines for us at the fuel dock and got us set up. We had the option to stay on the exposed transient dock or grab a more protected slip. We chose to stay on the transient dock to get a better WiFi signal. This turned out to be a mistake. The internet connection was absolutely awful, to the point that we'd have rather not had it. Speeds were on par with a bad dial-up connection. Even email wasn't loading.
Bathroom facilities were acceptable and clean. The courtesy van was really nice. Everyone we dealt with was very friendly. But we wouldn't stay here again.

Great Place to Stop, 2016-12-10
Captain: , Mentor OH (26)

My experience was the complete opposite of some of the other reviews. Upon arrival we were greeted by 2 dock hands. During my 9 days there i saw at least 20 loopers come in and out. There were always 2 dock hands assisting. The service department is the best I've ever worked with. Their number 1 priority was to make sure my repairs were completed. Some of the work was done by Diesel Don but the marina worked with him to diagnose the problem and get the parts. The work done by the service department could not have gone better. Tom the service manager took the time to explain the complete process of the repairs and what my options were and provided quotes. We were on the hard for one day during repairs. The staff went above and beyond to provide 50 amp service to our boat on the hard. They also let us spend the night in the boat to save us a hotel bill. When the work was done the bill was much less than the quote.

Nice stop before heading down the Tenn-Tom, 2016-11-18
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (2206)

We didn't have the same experience as the previous review except a very poor WiFi signal. They answered the phone to take our reservation and helped us at the dock. Very friendly staff and we received an AGLCA discount. We used the courtesy van to travel 2 miles to a well stocked grocery. It was calm during our stay, so no problem with waves.

What a Great Place, Great Experience, 2016-11-15
Captain: , Oregon, WI (80)

We brought our boat up to Iuka from Clearwater, after a crazy 7 day trip. We needed to dock the boat at a place that was relatively closer to Madison, WI and convenient for getting the boat ready for the Great Loop. This place rocks....everyone from dockmaster to service personnel have been friendly, accomodating, helpful and knowledgeable. This Marina is full service, first class and the service staff is on time, spot on and relatively affordable (we are talking about boats). The restaurant on site is good for watching football, try to pork wings. Good restaurants nearby with pick up service and good availability of courtesy vans. Lots to see nearby. We will definitely use Aqua Yacht Harbor as our shoulder season stopping place, nice oasis during spring and fall.

Not transient friendly , 2016-11-01
Captain: , full time cruisers (273)

They don't answer the radio.
They don't answer the phone.

They are closed for lunch from 11:30 -1:30.

When you do come in they ignore you until you honk your horn and yell at them, then he screams back to tie up along the dock. Help docking? Not going to happen!

Luckily we didn't need any help but it would have been nice to be offered. Once in the office, he was surly and rude. No discount for Boat US or AGLCA, even when asked. 1.25 a foot is way much for this.

The transient dock is exposed to everything from the south and east and all the wakes so expect to rock and jerk all day, and all night if the wind has any easterly component.

The showers are a long, long hike away, on the plus side, they are roomy and I didn't run out of hot water.

When we first got here, tried to log into wifi with no success, went to the "office", told them their wifi was down. Got some of the most condescending attitude l have experienced. Finally the guy at the dock said he would call the manager.

45 minutes later the manager in a golf cart came down and yelled at me; "just log in"..... I asked him if he had a smart phone (he did), could he log in? He tried.... Couldn't and left... 45 minutes later came flying by and said try again, no apologies, no stop to see how we're doing. He did get the wifi going (sort of), but it is slower than the AT&T one bar we have here.

Wont ever come back here again.

Large marina - staff waited after hours for us, 2016-10-27
Captain: , North East, MD (385)

When delayed at Pickwick lock, the dockmaster waited over an hour to help us arrive and get settled. I forgot to get wifi passcode so had to do without. Restrooms and dog walk were far from our slip location. All the courtesy cars were checked out. Water was turned off at our dock.

Bad first impression, 2016-08-18
Captain: , Portland, Oregon (576)

You know the old saying: You never get a second chance to make a good first impression. Well, we arrived at Aqua Yacht at 5:50 PM after calling them at about 2 PM to advise we would be coming. I was told by a female voice on the phone that they normally close at 6 PM but would probably not be there after 5 PM because things had slowed down now that school was back in session. When we arrived two females with back packs were walking from the gas dock down the dock toward the exit and made no effort to welcome us or help with our lines. Two other boaters assisited us and told us that the two females who had just left were the dock hands. We got tied up alright on the transient dock near the shore end of the dock and "plugged in" to power and cable TV. I could not get a signal from the cable connection so we didn't have that convenience that night. I tried the WiFi and could not get a useable connection. The next morning I inquired of the young man on duty about the TV and the WiFi and he said he would have someone look at the TV connection and that they had had a lot of complaints about the WiFi and that, if we moved a little closer to the fuel dock, we might get a better signal. Apparently the only antenna is next to the fuel dock. We tried the signal closer and found it to be much better so we moved the boat to within one boat length of the fuel dock and got a good connection. Now, if they have had so many complaints about the WiFi, why haven't they done something about it? Later, two guys came by about the TV and changed the connection to the other side of the power stantion and I then got TV. Now, why weren't both sides hooked up? I asked the young man in the gas office/gas dock about a place to walk our dog and that AC had indicated that there was a place where we could get bags for pet waste but he didn't know anything about a place to walk dogs or about the bags.

In addition, nobody seemed to know whether the restaurant was going to be open or when. We looked on the internet and found that it advertises limited winter days and hours.

Admittedly there wasn't much activity in the marina so I expect that the summer season is drawing to a close but, if they expect to see loopers stopping here in the fall, they ought to be prepared and welcoming right through the season.

We were totally impressed with their courtesy vans which were newer model vans and clean. We used one the first full day were there to get into town.

This marina should be a five star but I could not rate it as such after the initial impression it gave us.

Missing Kindles, 2015-12-30
Captain: , St. Louis, Missouri (61)

In May of 2012 we departed Aqual Yacht Harbor going north to Green Turtle Bay. Everything was great until we discovered that we had left our two Kindles in one of the carts from the marina when loading our supplies. We were at the entrance to Pickwick Dam - so we motored back to AQH (we are a 26' sailboat) - where we discovered that the staff had found and kept both Kindles for us. They also assisted us later in the trip by coordinating with Enterprise Car Rental - to have a car picked up on their property. A VERY professionally run marina!

Buyer Beware, 2015-12-02
Captain: , Marathon, Florida (110)

The lay-along transient dockage is quite nice, the marina staff & boaters are very pleasant and the courtesy cars are in good condition, but the inability to "reserve" the car for a specific time is a challenge. BUT, be very careful if you decide to have any work done at the yard!! Props work was great - but the results of three days of labor ($$$$$) left us in the same or worse condition than when we arrived. We discussed our feels with them both in person (although the Service Manager never came out!) and then via email, to absolutely no satisfaction. Unfortunately, I didn't post this soon enough - and another boater had very similar results. Nice people - but nice doesn't do much for the time, $$ and aggravation of poor performance

Very nice stop, 2015-10-25
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (728)

We came in on Friday 10/23 with the plan to stay 2 nights. Looks like we'll stay a bit longer to let the rains from Patricia move through before starting down the Tenn-Tom.
Staff was very helpful getting in and fueled, even gave a nice discount for taking over 200 gallons. Found we had a dead battery Friday afternoon and the service department replaced it Saturday morning. Really appreciate the quick service. Will stop here again for sure.

first time transit, would go again, 2015-10-23
Captain: , paris, tn (50)

nice, clean easy to get along with, stopped to visit with friends. enjoyed the area

Transient dock can be rough, 2015-07-15
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (462)

Lots of boaters on the wekends so expect to use fenders and get bounced around on the dock until the police come out in the evening and people begin to obey the no-wake zones.

I would advise you to skip the %u2018Fillin Station%u2019 grill, their %u2018house specialty%u2019 drinks come in premixed cans (!) and the food and service was nothing to rave about.

Excellent Place to Stay For a few days, 2015-05-25
Captain: , Currently living aboard and cruising the Gulf Coast (260)

Pretty much the same as everyone else is saying

Excellent full service marina and yard, 2015-03-01
Captain: , Plantation Yacht Harbor, Islamorada, Fla. Keys (4686)

All you could ask for in an inland marina and shipyard. Only reservation is haul-out tops out at around 55 thousand pounds [need to go to Lee Spry for heavier]. Nice restaurant and facilities. Between Savannah, TN and Iuka, MS [use courtsey car], resupply couldn't be easier.

Very good facility, 2014-11-30
Captain: , Aurora, KY (146)

The Harbormaster Bo was very helpful and accommodating. The Fillin' Station Grille on site served some great food and good IPAs were on tap. Very nice courtesy van which we used to go to Savannah, TN for grocery shopping. Shiloh National Battlefield is close by and very much worth the time to tour it. We had our engine serviced by a very courteous mechanic and the folks at the Ship's Store were as well. Our only complaint was that the transient dock is wide open to the southeast and if winds are prevailing from that direction it makes for a very bumpy place to tie up. Sure would be nice if there was a breakwater.

Great service team, 2014-11-23
Captain: , Guntersville, AL (451)

Tom Snyder and his team are very responsive to customer needs. The fuel discounts are very helpful both BoatUS and AGLCA.
Only wish the showers were closer to the transient dock.

Great place for service or just a stay, 2014-11-13
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (684)

Fuel dock people very helpful and service department will and able to help out with any type of repair. We had Diesel Don on board for some service and parts department supplied everything Don needed. Courtesy cars available for trip to shopping or historic sites. Not to busy in November when we were there and time limit on the courtesy cars was waved. Will stay again next time around.

Great full service stop, 2014-10-19
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

We stopped here and had the bottom painted. We were provided a vehicle whenever we requested and were allowed to live on the boat during work. The staff were great. They provided a set of steps to facilitate getting on and off the boat and we were allowed to wash and wax the boat while in the yard. The bathrooms and showere were only 50yds away and we were plugged in to power. Dockage before and after service was free. This is a good service stop.
Stopped for a night 10-18-14 all is the same as above. Set good fenders as the transient wall is subject to wakes from inconsiderate boaters.

great place, 2014-10-19
Captain: , Louisville, KY (347)

Towed in after transmission problem. Tom, Tony, and staff are great, installed new damper plate and ready to go in 3 days. And while I was at the looper rendezvous evey day, they even walked my dog.

very clean, 2014-08-29
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

Marina was very clean, pool was maintained well. We stayed on the long finger pier for two nights. Returned with engine trouble stayed 9 more days all at no cost since the were doing my repairs. Two courtisty cars were available with ywo hour time limits OK for shopping but not enough time to visiit the historic stops

Great People, 2014-08-20
Captain: , Paducah KY (183)

We came in the spring to stay for a few days and have been here for 4 months. Only downside Verizon cell and data service is very poor.

BewareCovered Dock Slips, 2014-06-19
Captain: , scottsboro, Al. (141)

Great facility, fine breakfast's at The Filling Station with a great selection of omelets. Also a great number of draught beers on tap. We had the good luck to dock under cover and in ninety degee heat, it was very cool !!
Caution should be exercized when accessing the finger piers. The white plastic rub rails are thru bolted and orginally had plastic caps covering the couple of inches of bolt sticking out into the walkway area but many are gone leaving rusty bolt ends to snag clothing, arms and if small children are with you a definite eye head injury potential. Many slip renters have sawed them off or covered them with tubing but be aware of this hazard if using a covered slip.

Nice facility, attentive staff, 2014-02-08
Captain: , santa barbara (771)

Left boat here for winter in October - came back in January to check on boat - all was fine. Needed some help from Aqua staff and found them all to be very courteous and helpful. Despite freezing weather docks were in great shape, water and electric working fine. Also, in addition to Aqua staff, found excellent local help for engine work and boat cleaning. Looking forward to returning in warmer weather!

Staying here post-purchase, 2013-11-23
Captain: , Cocoa FL (670)

Beautiful facility, excellent staff. We are here for a few days following boat purchase making preparations to move south. Diesel was $4.11 with Boat US discount. They have a pool and tennis court for summer use. Restaurant is closed undergoing a renovation.

Propane available, 2013-11-06
Captain: , Cleveland, OH (344)

Propane tanks can be filled at Roger's Propane in Iuka. Use one of the courtesy vans. It's 13 miles away. Visit the Apron Museum while there.

Misunderstanding, 2013-10-31
Captain: , Ruskin, FL (330)

Was going to stay but had a misunderstanding when making reservation and did not. Manager contacted me recently and explained/clarified situation. I would give them a try next time. I suspect I was wrong.

Excellent choice great caring people here, 2013-10-24
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1997)

My boat has been here for 6 weeks while I am back and forward, the marina has good security, good fellow boaters and cute towns relatively close by. The pool has even heated up and the facilities are good.
Although not cheap I think we will be here until the fall off and on also each dock has its own wifi.
Ended up statying till October highly recommended would definitely recommend this to others at anytime

No one home, 2013-10-04
Captain: , Everett WA (424)

Had a reservation for four nights. When I arrived at 3:00 on Friday afternoon, no one answered the phone or radio. I moved on to Grand Harbor.

Great Marina & Service Facility, 2013-09-26
Captain: , St. Petersburg (749)

I can't say enough good things about this marina and its staff, who go out of their way to provide great customer service. I stayed here for a year, and was always very well pleased with the staff, great facilities and service yard. Laundry facilities are a little bit of a hike from the transient slip, but otherwise it's a great place to stop, for either a short or long stay.

great stop., 2013-09-17
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, FL (603)

The transient dock is exposed to wakes and can be rocky. The repair facility here is top notch. We bent a prop on the way up the TennTom. They hauled us on Monday morning. Prop repaired and we were splashed on Wednesday morn. They also solved an electronics problem that had troubled me since Demopolis. Good competent service fairly priced. Good job Aqua Harbor

What a facility 7-14-2013, 2013-07-15
Captain: , Kuttawa Kentucky (410)

7-14-2013 Arrived after fuel dock closed. Tied up to transient slip. Shower house a pretty good walk from transient slip but super nice. Had to have Air Conditioner charged. Came within half hour of calling and took care of it. Security good. Exceptionally Clean.

Spent the winter, 2013-03-30
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

We spent the winter here and enjoyed our stay. The staff is helpful and the marina is clean and maintained. There is no wifi on the dock which was the biggest deficiency we found in our stay. The courtesy car is great since everything is 20 miles away for serious shopping. Fellow boaters are very friendly and included us in their festivities.

5 yrs experience with these good folks, 2013-01-23
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (11)

After 5000 miles we stopped in 11/06 because of location with covered docks and very helpful staff. I recommend the repair facility and convenient location with car available for shops or sites and onsite cafe with all services. Excellent exercise room next to pool bathhouse up on the hill above the marina with tennis court, play ground and dog walking area.

Great Transient Dock. Great Service Department, 2012-11-20
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

We came into here in the dark due to looooong wait at Pickwick Dock. Our first night time navigation. But we stayed on the sailing line of the chartplotter and got in without any problems. Plenty of depth in the lake. The transient dock is a very long facing dock directly in front of you as you approach the marina. We had called ahead to have them order and replace our fresh water pump that was acting up. It was a saturday and they had a technician on and out in very short time. Very nice facilities. Two loaner cars to go to into Pickwick to provision. Very nice experience. NOTE: if you are staying at Grand Harbor Marina and need service they are going to send you to Aqua. Fuel: At this time the pricing for fuel is better at Grand Harbor than Aqua.

Great staff and facilties, 2012-10-07
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4188)

Nice docks. Jason helped us come in and was really polite and great to deal with. They have TWO courtesy vans, $1 laundry, good restaurant on site. We had a breakfast and dinner there. Both meals were very good.
Walkiing the dog is a bit of a chore. You have to climb cement stairs to a bluff. Not good at night so we took our dog to our foredeck at night instead. Would come back.

Okay Stop For a Night, 2012-09-05
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1448)

Transient dock exposed to wind fetch and wake. Okay on a week day but would not want to be there on a weekend. Good docks. Never found the heads/showers (must be a long way from transient dock). Marina advertises restaurant on premises but it turns out it is only open on the weekends. Two courtesy cars but in a strange arrangement the marina lets boaters check them out without a time limit. When we arrived in the late afternoon) both were out (and staff told us that one had been out since early morning). And, that they did not know when the individuals using them would bring them back. Fortunately, one did come back in time for us to use it to go to dinner (about one mile away).

Good docks & water, 2012-07-21
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

A bit rocky on transient docks but better than Grand Harbor. Laundry is a bit of a walk. Minimal food available on weekends at cafe. Courtesy cars available for shopiing. Nothing located near marina. Great pool & excercise room.

Lenghthy stay, 2012-07-16
Captain: , charleston (831)

Our boat stayed at Aqua for almost 7 months while we took a break from doing the Loop. Facilities were adequate and communication while we were away was fine. We had some work done on the boat in our absence. Most of it was performed as hoped for but there were some issues that we were not happy with. Their attitude was also not nice.

First Class Marina, 2012-06-02
Captain: , Kettering, Ohio (250)

Well protected large marina with pool and great facilities. Floating docks and loarner car. Full service yard and all. It is a great stop, staff very helpful. Will return

A great place to stay, 2011-11-14
Captain: , Ft. Collins, CO (331)

The marina is easy to find, has good water and the boat yard staff is competent and reasonable in pricing. Two courtesy cars available. The only drawback is the bath house is a long walk from the transient dock.

Top Quality Marina, 2011-11-12
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4307)

Two courtesy vans, new and clean, which are needed since you have to go to another state to find a restaurant. Good helpful staff, nice docks, well equipped power stands. Only negative is that the transient dock is on the face dock, exposed to wave and wakes from the wide lake. We bounced and rocked all night. If we were rating it as an anchorage, it would get one star. But, with the great courtesy vans and quality place, it has to rate 5 as a marina.

Aqua Yacht Harbor, 2011-11-05
Captain: , Stillwater, MN (287)

Top notch. They treat you like a VIP all the way. Very friendly staff that goes out of their way to greet and help you. There are no negatives here.

best service ever, 2011-10-27
Captain: , Bayfield, Ontario (70)

Every once in a while one comes across an amazingly customer friendly marina. These folks are amazing and will go out of their way to make sure you are happy. If you need any service work done, or just a really friendly place to stay ... this is it !!!!

Best Service Department on the Tennessee, 2011-10-14
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

As you travel the Loop it is hard to know whether you are dealing with a reputable service yard. This is one place you can trust. We needed work on our drive shafts and props, and had unfortunately been in several yards for the same problem as we did the Loop. Finally I found a yard that doesn't just want to fix the symptom and get as much out of you while you then go on your way. These guys did not charge me a dime, until they diagnosed the problem and laid out the choices. They are honest and very reasonable. All very rare and hard to find.

Down home feeling, 2011-08-14
Captain: , Soddy Daisy TN (152)

Best place between Chattanooga and Mobile. Stayed there Winter of 2010, paid for 2 nights, Mickey gave us 4 nights due to circumstances. Stayed again June of 2011, best deals on river + the "shop" did some work, alignment, great work at great price. Transportation available to vist nice area restaurants or visit St Clair, right there at marina. Super group of people willing and wanting to make stay enjoyable.

Captain: , On the water (1501)

Without a doubt one of the most customer service driven marinas we have ever visited. Great staff in both service (Tony) and with the dockmaster (Jason). The only reason they don't get 5-stars is that the showers & laundry are a good hike from the transiet dock. Stop in for a visit and tell Jason that Lifes2Short sent you!

A Very Good Stop, 2011-06-06
Captain: , North Palm Beach, FL (539)

Stayed three nights. $1 per foot per night includes dockage, power, good wifi and use of nice courtesy car. Very nice people. Good transient dock, subject to some wakes on weekends, but not bad. Service Department honestly advised me to get certain special engine work done at another location. Great restrurant right on the property. Shopping for essentials a few miles away. Pool and exercise room looked nice. This is a large, well run marina.

Very nice marina in a lovely area, 2011-05-17
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1453)

We bought a boat that was docked here, then stayed in a covered slip (not at transient dock) for several months after closing on the sale. Staff was very helpful and owners in neighboring slips were great, including us in dinners, loaning us tools and sharing local information.
Marina security is good with gated access to parking lot. Great area to let dog run behind tennis courts and pool area. Dog was also welcome in ship's store.
Laundry has 2 washers, 2 dryers ($1 each) - clean but not very many units for such a large marina. No wifi; 1-2 bars on Verizon air card in slip - didn't try on transient dock. Restaurant on premises is seasonal; food is above average. Decent selection of restaurants in nearby towns, but need courtesy car to get there.

Very nice marina. Full service, gas, diesel, pump out, nice docs, courtesy car. Repair shop is pricey but probably has what you need. Very nice transient docks. Annual slip rental is highest in the area. Seasonal restaurant onsite and near other places to eat by using the courtesty car. Pickwick supermarket is reasonable and just up the road.

Great Service, 2009-04-03

We pulled in to Aqua during the first week of our try at the Great Loop with some minor boat issues. Tony, the manager of the shop came down to the boat twice and checked out our systems and made the problem go away. Great service in all aspects, don't hesitate to pull in there for a day or a week. Very friendly and Ferg at the gas dock is most accomodating. --Hal and Cheryl Baker on Mas Bueno

Good marina. Don't plan on riding bikes, the marina is three or four miles from any town. The roads to that town are very narrow and very busy with logging trucks.

First Class Marina, 2007-02-22

Large repair yard and very nice marina. Everything is first class except internet services which is nill.

Best place in area for repair work.

Wintered the boat for 6 months Nov 05-May 06 while in land home. Work was done reasonably well and at reasonable cost.

Management is not local. Didn't seem to be able or willing to provide internet access. They have it in offices but can't find enough space to provide even a jack for access, much less wifi.

Cell service poor. Drive 8 miles into Tenn to connect to Verizion data service.
