Reviews for Aqua Vino Restaurant
Nice dockage, 2017-07-20
Captain: , Pearl Harbor, HI (703)

Two choices, high wall or low fixed dock. Power and water available but water is highly chlorinated; ok for showers and dishes but not drinking. Spent several nights here awaiting a UPS delivery. Restrauant folks were quite nice and friendly. Will stop again.

Not a bad little stop, 2017-06-26
Captain: , Tully, NY (100)

Stopped here for the night and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at Denny's in the morning! Aqua Vino wasn't open for breakfast. Only service was power.

Too Shallow, 2016-10-12
Captain: , Miami Beach, FL (210)

Could not reach any part of the dock with a 5.5' draft... shallowed to below 3.5' well prior to the wall... Perhaps due to the end of the season.

This city Marina would benefit from a project plan to facilitate access, 2016-09-09
Captain: , Willsboro Bay Marina (2471)

We decided to write to the Mayor of Utica to inform him that one may benefit to be aware that many humble villages (Clyde, Holly, Seneca Falls, Lions, Rome, Bremerton,Canajoharie, Newark, Phoenix, Baldwinville, Spenceport, Pitsford for examples) on the NY Canals make all the efforts to welcome boater in offering free facilities (dockage, electricity, water, pump-out).

Utica%u2019s financial condition has vastly improved with back to back million dollar surpluses, an upgraded outlook and a fund balance that currently stands over $3 million dollars.

Utica is now a City on the rise, may be he could see an opportunity there...

Aqua Vino restaurant in Utica city is remarkable for visitors.

We enjoyed the great service of Kayla. She recommended the meal and we were enchanted.

The wedding soup, pork chops and the vegetables were delicious.

We could not finish our high quality meal as the portions were generous.

We took back the remaining of our supper in a styrofoam container wrapped by plastic wrap to prevent leakage.

Thank you, Kayla for your friendly and quality service delivery!

We would have like to spend more time to visit as there is limited space for dockage.

Utica harbor lock Terminal reminds me the Syracuse Inner harbor. Timing coincides with the World Canal Conference and the bicentennial construction of the NY State Canals.

There will be lots of boats passing by Utica and some will miss visiting this beautiful city. Pity!

would have liked a shower, 2016-06-18
Captain: , Sodus Bay, New York (250)

restaurant rest room available when open but no shower. 6 foot depth at west end of low dock. power and water was good for us. $1/ft pay in restaurant.

Just a basic overnight stop, 2015-08-09
Captain: , Pasadena, MD (1496)

High wall is OK for some, hard for others. We were able to get a spot on a lower part of the wall. Depth is approx. 5' at the wall. Power is questionable; we did not have problems, but a neighboring boat did. Restroom facilities are available if/when the restaurant is open. The dinner menu does not include any light fare or sandwich options. The dinner menu is VERY pricy.

Good Stop - if you aren't looking for showers & restrooms, 2015-08-01
Captain: , Seneca Lake NY (313)

Power & water on wall, Restaurant is closed Sun & Mon but others are within a short walk. Delmonicos was very good a close by... a few blocks S on N Genesee St.

Utica town dock, 2015-07-24
Captain: , merritt island, fl. (55)

50 amp power not working. Ran aground, 5 feet, on the east end of high wall. Restaurant has no draft beer. Lot's of fast food close walk. Relatively quiet when the restaurant is empty.

Utica Marina/Aqua Vino, 2015-06-15
Captain: , Warwick, RI (88)

6/15/2015. Electrical power still a problem. 1/2 of 50A worked. 30A worked. Second 50A inop unable to get my std. plug in. We made do with one 30A. High dock but we straddled a ladder to get on and off. Restaurant was closed.
Low docks are fixed and not floating. Beware. A. Vino told us low docks were flooded over this AM after rain.

Enjoyed the stop, 2015-06-14
Captain: , Solomons Island Md (417)

We stopped mid-day on the high wall about 80 feet from the smaller floating docks on the west side. We had 6' of water, but I believe the canal level is at least 1' higher than normal due to rains. The power post we selected had 50 and 30 but only one leg worked on the 50. We improvised with two cables. The best part was the Saranac Brewery Tour. Its worth the stop. $5 tour with beer tasting. One of the restaurant employees let us use her car to make the short trip to the Brewery. The food at Aqua Vino is very good although pricey, but you get what you pay for.

No plans to return. , 2015-06-11
Captain: , Illinois (2573)

Wish I could give it some minus stars!
No space on the low dock. Had to use the wall. Can't hook up to electricity or water. No showers. Busy road with pile driving construction. Would be happy to leave but am traveling with a buddy boat. Can't get off our boat! Wall too high!

Not many places to stop in Utica, 2014-09-25
Captain: , Erie, PA (587)

If one of the lockmasters tells you that you can stay on the wall here for free if you eat in the restaurant, that information is incorrect. The fee is $1/ft regardless. There are other restaurants an 8 to 12 minute walk south west along N Genessee Street.

Evidently NY State had dredged infront of the docks as there is 12' of water here now. The dredge is still parked just east of the docks.

They must have fixed the power issue as the pedestals are working along the low wall again.

Enjoyed this stop, 2014-09-14
Captain: , Englewood, FL (905)

We stopped here to escape a cold driving rain - used the power to run our heater. We found power & it was easy to pay when the restaurant opened. Walked to multiple close restaurants & visited the beautiful 100 yr old train station - regal inside!

very Disappointed, 2014-07-04
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (1176)

Not a great stop. Electric didn't work. The whole place looked empty. Took a walk around, but it's just a parking lot for the restaurant.

Depth along the wall, 2014-06-07
Captain: , Colchester, VT (120)

Nice stop but the depth along the entire wall is about 4.5 to 5 feet. Water is avail but the 2 power pedestals on the west end don't work.

Deep Draft Caution, 2014-05-31
Captain: , New Johnsonville, TN (180)

We had an easy stop here last night. We read the reviews and the depths at the wall sounded good for our 5' draft boat. It was about 6' when we tied up. I had a great run and there are lots of restaurants there within walking distance besides Aqua Vino ( which was super busy).

This morning when we went to leave the depth sounder was reading 4.5'. There was probably some slit along the bottom but we carefully thrusted off the wall until we were back in the channel. We didn't realize there could be big water drops there.

We would stay again but we would be careful.

It was $1.00 foot and we had 50 amp and water and the wall has nice fenders.

An OK stop, 2013-09-23

Good Stop in Utica. N.Y., 2013-08-19
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1394)

Tied up on the high wall in front of restaruant. Good fendering. 7 ft of water at concrete high wall. good for our 5 ft draft Eastern end small wooden dock 4Ft water depth. Western Wooden dock closest to Bridge Water Depth 6 ft. Measured with Hawk Eye Depth Sounder. Water & 30/ 50 Amp in center in front of Restaruant working. didnt check lower dock. Great Food. Enjoyed the stay. Easy dock to get on. Big Cleats in concrete

Aqua Vino marina, 2013-07-23
Captain: , Louisville, KY (80)

July 23, 13 the water was on. the two electric pedistals in front of the restaurant work, but the 2 at the lower dock are inoperative. The restaurant staff was friendly and the food good. Good stop!

easy mooring, nice restaurant., 2013-07-22
Captain: , Hollywood, Md (30)

$1/day/ft with water, electric (up to 50 amp), wifi, rest rooms in the very pretty restaurant with twenty-odd vintage photos. No shower. On Jul 21, 2013, the water was shut off. Not much boat traffic. High wall has excellent rub rails, but you might need a ladder to get up to the walk. There's a small floating dock, but it looks like it's best for smaller craft.

Exposed dockage. but a $1 a foot with electric, 2013-05-22
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

What can I say, $1 a foot with electric and water, where else? Of course they are competing with all the FREE docks of the erie.

Nice restaurant, 2012-10-12
Captain: , Rochester, NY (493)

Nice restaurant - great selection of beers!

Good for a one night stay, 2012-09-15
Captain: , Bear DE (694)

At $1 ft including power it's just a good place for one night, noise from the road bridge. Water and power close to the dock.

I'd stop here again, 2012-08-11
Captain: , St. Catharines (498)

We stayed here in August during out westward trip to Oswego. At $1/ft the price is right. The water and electricity worked great. The restaurant was nice (but extrememly busy..) A great spot to stop.

Great stop, 2012-07-18
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (445)

We stayed here tonight as we travel west along the Erie Canal. not a lot of good choices but this is one. We tied up to the lower dock, 6.9 feet depth. 30amp power but it worked for our 50 amp with the splitter. Dog walking was easy. Restaurant was great but make a reservation, busy on a wed. night. Also had decent wifi, and water, but watch the pressure, over 100 psi.

We bicycled to brewery for tour, 2.1 miles. Busy roads. Other restaurants as well.

No Pumpout, 2012-07-01
Captain: , Henderson, NV (64)

The Waterway Guide claims they have a pumpout (presumably based on (false) information provided by the marina) but it is inoperable and in an inaccessible location. The restaurant people knew nothing about it. There was no dockmaster -- only restaurant staff who were useless at anything other than taking my money. It was almost impossible to connect my electrical cord to the deeply recessed receptacle. I would not stay overnight here again.

Aqua Vino Dock, 2012-06-14
Captain: , Camden, Maine (38)

Don't agree with earlier reviews at all! Dock could be bigger but we were only ones there. Good cleats. 4 electric/water hookups. Restaurant was best we've experienced since New York City. Many local fresh items on menu and manager was very nice. Would definitely stop here again. 1$ foot is almost free.

Nothing Special Here, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

Had electric and water but that is all. Restuarant is pricey. Good for a night if you need electric and are ready to stop for the night.

Fair At Best, 2012-05-15
Captain: , Ocean (60)

We spent a night here on about 5/10/12. The dock had been underwater a day or two prior so it was filthy muddy. We did pay nothing though. It was a bit spooky and in the middle of no where so have all your own supplies. We did not go to the restaurant so I can not speak for that. They did know we were there. Free water, electric, and wi-fi, but swanky its not. If we had to pay, we would likely have moved on.

Great Steakhouse nearby, 2011-06-09
Captain: , Caseville, MI (341)

Delmonico's Italian Steakhouse just a short walk from the Marina toward downtown. We walked downtown and took a bus to tour the F.X. Matt Brewery, then brought one back close to the marina.

Utica Historic Marina Restaurant, 2011-06-07
Captain: , Patrick AFB Florida (1254)

Hey, it's only $1.00 per foot with electric and water! Typical town businesses are an easy walk away (check Google Maps for details). Good place to stop to fill water tanks, do laundry(onboard wash/dry). Limited traffic noise from bridge across the canal.

Floating dock at west end of area (near bridge) has room for only 2 40-50 foot boats and carries 7 feet of water; it is 50 yards away from the restaurant itself). Understand the wall (much of it adjacent to the outside restaurant tables) has more limited depth in the neighborhood of 4 feet (reported by Skipper Bob).

Free dock, albeit rusty, a little farther west, 2011-05-25
Captain: , Macedon, NY (70)

About 200 yards west of this restaurant (now "Aqua Vino"), there is a dock large enough for one 40' vessel, also on the south side of the canal. There are steps up to a paved bike path you can use to walk back to the restaurant. The other side of the bike path is a fenced Thruway Authority vehicle yard. There are no services on the dock, but there are also no signs saying, "Posted" or "$1 per foot per night."

Utica Town Dock, 2010-07-17
Captain: , Westbrook, CT (296)

Very limited dockage; 2 at floating and 2 on wall. Restaurant now open so rest rooms available inside. Electric and water on dock & wall. The restaurant charges $1 per foot so assume they lease the facilities from the town. Main reason to stop is to transfer guests to the Amtrak station about 3/4 mile away.

Better places to stop than here, 2009-08-03
Captain: , St Louis (671)

Two years ago this was a free town dock but the adjacent restaurant was closed. We stayed there two nights with 30amp power and water but nothing was close-by – kind of spooky if you are by yourself. The other boat with us was able to use the coin operated washing machines at one of the motels. This year when we saw they were charging a $1/ft for dockage we skipped it. There just isn’t anything convenient in the area.

Utica Town Dock @ Aqua Vino Restaurant, 2009-07-29
Captain: , Clear Lake, TX (694)

Water, 30 amp electric and nice dock. Money collected by restaurant that has a nice menu but we didn't eat there. A healthy walk to an old industrial city that has few retail opportunities. Cost is $1.00 per foot.

?????, 2009-06-08
Captain: , Brookings (308)

Nice dock, BUT-have to go thru the restaurant to use bathrooms. No showers. Only open until 10 and then open "around 10 or 11 in the morning". Quite a distance to get downtown. Were told it was a pretty rough area. No one at the marina knew anything about the bus transportation but did give # for taxi. As with most marinas here $1/ft.
