Reviews for Apalachicola Marina
OK Marina, 2016-05-23
Captain: , Niceville, Fl (195)

Great staff that will help you get docked. Marina is basic as mentioned by others. When we stayed in the evening we got overan by some small flying insects. Definately not the marinas fault.

Simple, Basic and Adequate, 2016-04-19
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

Arrived 4-15-16. Payed for 4 nights get 3 free. Departure on
4-21-16 Just a simple Marina. No over the air T.V. Large shower/restroom nice and clean. Good Basic Ships store. Wind was howling 15-20 right on fuel dock when we came into the slip
inside the fuel dock 22 ft wide. Narrow short entrance and sharp 90 deg turn once you get bow in. Dock hand did a quick hustle to
help us in. Will keep a stern line on and pivot around piling backing out if wind picks up on departure. Enjoyed Caroline's Fine Dining, Hole in the Wall and other Restaruants. Tin Shed has old Nautical stuff. we enjoyed the local classic boat and car show. Waiting for 3rd crew for run from Dog Island to Clearwater on 4-21-16. Got mixed local knowledge on Govt Cut which was reported full dredged and partially dreged two weeks early so we
will use East Pass. Apalachiocola is a nice place to visit about everyting within reasonable walking distance. Didnt use Golf cart offered we needed the exercise. Capt Helen and Chief Engr Bob
onboard ALLEZ!

Friendly Marina, 2016-04-02
Captain: , La Crosse, WI (627)

They have two transient docks, one located up river 400 yards and one at the fuel dock. No wifi or bathrooms at the upriver dock but they do provide a golf cart to run back and forth. We stayed at both locations. Reasonably clean restrooms and shower, but only one for both sexes. They allowed me to store my truck and trailer while we cruised. The municipal Marina has a deep landing for launching or retrieving a trailer able cruiser. Be sure to take time to visit the local museum - interesting history.

Two weeks in Apalachicola Marina, 2016-03-26
Captain: , MOBILE (20)

Staying here in the marina waiting for weather to clear to cross the Big Bend. Dave and Jeff have taken excellent care of us. Stay four nights and get three free. Easy walking distance to the city and many shops, restuarants and trendy boutiques. WIFI works!! The best slip is the other side of the dock in front of office. Our 42' fits perfect. If full there are other slip to the west on the water front. Golf cart provided. Bathroom clean with good shower. However no pumpout at marina.

Great jump off point for Gulf crossing, 2016-01-18
Captain: , Yorktown, VA (300)

We stayed in the slips behind the fuel dock. Two, maybe three slips large enough to accommodate 40-50 ft boats. A little challenging to get in because the river was flooding and running at about 4 knots. Helpful staff. Three men were there to help us get tied up and hooked up. The slips face into the flow of the river, rather than being perpendicular...making it easier to get into than the city docks down by the bridge. Of all the places in Appalach to wait for a crossing, I think this one is the best. Since there are normally no pump outs in town, having a clean, close restroom allowed us to not worry about filling up the holding tank. The marina is also very close to all the places you want to go to in town. Stay four nights, get three for free. We were there for six nights and never ran out of things to do or places to eat. People launching out of Carrabelle have a shorter run to East Pass. If you are a go fast, day crossing boat...then you should wait in Carrabelle. But, if you are a trawler style boat leaving late in the afternoon for a night crossing, it isn't a big advantage to be over there. Enjoy all that Apalachicola has to offer instead.

dockside marina, fine folks, 2016-01-14
Captain: , Kemah, TX (172)

We docked beside the long wall and it was calm the entire three days we were there. The town is wonderful. Only 1,800 inhabitants, however, keep their town neat and clean. A very creative group of people, and love that the Historical Society is refurbishing many of the old buildings. Quaint town. Enjoyed a couple of beers at the Oyster City brewery bar. Enjoyed some good foods in quaint restaurants. Great place to visit. Just be careful trying to get out of the Government Cut. We got stuck 4 times trying to get out. Managed to get ourselves out, but we had to turn around and take the ICW up to Dog Island to get out. Govt. Cut is supposed to be dredged, but they had a lot of water coming down river, so the cut was probably was clogged from that.

Great Place to Wait 12/05/2015, 2015-12-06
Captain: , Southport, NC (637)

Pleasant and Helpful Staff. We stayed at fuel dock.

This is a happy place to be., 2015-11-14
Captain: , Michigan City, IN (748)

We arrived on November 12, 2015 and will be here for the next several nights. We discussed heading out to an anchorage to wait for a Gulf crossing weather window. When we found out that paying for four nights offers three additional nights free, our decision was made. The staff is beyond accommodating and the location is fabulous. We are in a 48' Ocean M/V with a 4ft draft.

This marina has two docks; one is a downtown fuel dock and one is up Scipio Creek. We are at the fuel dock across the street from all that is Apalachicola: great places to eat, fun shops, nice people, etc.

It is very walkable here; we spent most of today walking... all over the downtown and to the Ace hardware store, which is just north of 26th St. on Rte. 98. This was an easy and scenic walk.

Previous reviews are correct in stating that there is no protection from boat wakes.

Other than that, this is a great little dock and marina. There are two golf carts available for use all over town, including to the Piggly Wiggly on 10th and Rte 98.

There is a single (very clean) bathroom and shower with key access for slipholders. On the first night, we noticed a few palmetto bugs in there. Our boat buddies mentioned it to the staff. Clearly, something was done because none have been seen since. We appreciate this greatly; with no pumpouts (!) in Apalachicola, we are being very careful about how much we put in our holding tank.

There are several shrimp boats nearby and marina staff can (and are happy to) score a better price ($2!) per pound. Perhaps needless to say, our first night featured boiled shrimp on the dock. Good times!

Good little marina close to downtown, 2015-10-12
Captain: , Panama City, FL (30)

The location is a plus and minus. Plus because it is only two blocks to downtown and its great restaurants and shops. Minus because it is open to the river and the wakes from the boat traffic. We stayed two nights but didn't interact much with the employees. They were very helpful in getting us hooked up when we arrived. Caroline's next door is good for breakfast, but our favorite spots for lunch and dinner are downtown: Owl Cafe, Tamara's, and the Owl Tap Room (which has really good food as well as an excellent selection of craft beers).

Great Place to Stop, 2015-04-27
Captain: , Kemah, TX (306)

They have two places to tie up. We stayed at the fuel dock in a slip. The other location is a face dock a little bit up Scipio Creek.

Marina staff was very helpful, the bath rooms clean and the wifi strong. The face dock does not have bath or wifi but you can get a key to bathroom at the fuel dock.

If the marina had a pump out I would have given them five stars.

Very helpful people, 2015-04-23
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (675)

They were closed when we needed fuel early Sunday morning after crossing from Tarpon Springs. Called the after hours number and they came and fueled us up. Very friendly and very helpful. Easy stop right on the GICW.
Second time here on 10 April 15. Got fuel then stayed the night. Stayed on their side tie transient pier about two blocks north of the fuel dock. Marina provided a golf cart to get around the area. Great location close to everything. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will always stay here. Good fuel price.

Three days in Apalachicola, 2015-04-21
Captain: , Bay Springs, MS (120)

Every thing within walking distance. We arrived after 5pm. I called earlier and was told to make myself at home and which of the two open slips to take. Folks were friendly. Restrooms were ok, albiet seldom cleaned. There was a boat and car show the first day we were there%u2014nice!

Great little place, 2015-04-13
Captain: , Ft Myers Beach (74)

We spent two days here gathering strength for crossing the bend. I would always come back.
Jimmy was great, Carolna's was great and, except for the odd sorts who seem to misjudge their wakes, the ride was great.
We had an inside slip and proved that I am great as a driver in flat water, easy current and nil wind. Of course two engines never hurts. Fueled up in our slip, watered up and leave in good spirits.
BTW, town is great and deserves more time.
Fueled at $2.69 plus local tax.

Oyster town, 2015-04-02
Captain: , Miami Beach (20)

The stay at Miller Marine, or Apalachicola Marina worked out well for me Jimmy the dock master was alway accomodating and fair with prices. If you hardware the ACE in town has more than your regular ACE.
There are a lot of restaurants but most of them are pretty pricey because of the tourist trade in the area. Carolines next door has the most amazing " Grouper Eggs Benedict" for breakfast.

Very Helpful Staff, 2015-03-31
Captain: , destin, fl (10)

We were running late getting in on a Sunday night and the guy stayed to make sure we we're secure for the night and everything was working. He even offered to stay later so we could fuel up. We tied up at the fuel dock and it was quiet and calm until daylight when boat traffic picked up. Great oysters at Boss Oyster House.

Location is everything, 2015-02-27
Captain: , Cincinnati (252)

A simple marina, only four docks and if they have room for you it is a great place to visit Apalachicola. Easy in and out from the ICW. Aplachicola is great old Florida town. Lots of shops, galleries, bars and restaurants. So much amazing local seafood so little time. A must visit town.

Great Service From Owner Jan 17-18 2015, 2015-01-22
Captain: , Tallahassee, FL (10)

Our 26 foot sailboat was quite comfortable in one of the 4 slips behind the fuel dock. "Carolines" a restaurant connected just North of this Marina has great food, though a bit expensive. The best thing about this Marina is Jimmy Newell, the owner/operator. We had fuel line problems and asked if he knew someone who could stand by to tow us to the boat ramp if necessary. Instead, he grabbed his own tools, came down to the boat and diagnosed and repaired it by by-passing the faulty connection at the motor. Didn't want to take any payment for it! He operates a small chandlery with basic items for sale. Close to everything. We will return here whenever we come to Apalachicola, a scenic and historic town, although definitely touristy.

Nice Location, 2015-01-02
Captain: , Slidell, La. (1055)

Frindly Staff. Currents were not bad. Didn't experience any wake issues. Plenty of depth. Great WiFi Signal. Very good resturant next door for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Easy two block walk to Market Street for Shopping. Marina has a loaner golf cart we used to get to Piggly Wiggly 10 blocks away. Charming Town to spend some time in. We will Return!

Very friendly and helpful, 2014-12-10
Captain: , little current (272)

We had one of the slips behind the fuel dock. We needed to source and get a raw water pump and Jimmy was extremely helpful trying to get a pump for us next day. A gamble on the internet was our only chance and he suggested I take it myself. No fee for service for any of his time or trouble. Golf carts available to get around town. We were here December 8 through 10, 2014

Really great Wifi within moments of downtown., 2014-11-21
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

AThey have two sets of docks, we are at the ones with the fuel dock. The other one is upriver about 2/10 of a mile. Wooden fixed docks. Tide swing is about 1.5 feet depending on the moon phase.

Very happy here, short walk (4 blocks) to downtown, post office, brewery, beer pub, fresh fish market, art gallery, etc. They have a pair of golf carts to use to go farther distances (Pig-Wig is about a 10 ride, laundry is 5 mins, etc. ) Maritime museum is a 2 min walk across the street.

Onsite bathroom & shower, ice, small store of parts and REALLY GREAT WIFI ! ! !

It can be a little bouncy with the boats going by. We were here with a 27' and they got rocked, our fat 45' not so much. On the other hand, you get a first hand view of working shrimpers fueling up.

Enterprise rentals are in Port St Joe's. They are unwilling (as of Nov 2014) to drive "all the way to Apalachicola".

Car rental at the Apalachicola airport is 850-653-1366 He is an independent renter, it's midsized for $55 per day (about $68 after taxes was his comment) -- This is about $10 more per day than Enterprise Looper discounted rate

Taxi to get to the airport is 850-653-2270 Rides are $9 to the airport, + $2 for each additional person, $2 per stop on the way about a 10 min ride by taxi. If you have your heart set on Enterprise the taxi ride there is $55.

Rate in Nov 2014 was $1.50/ft/night. The weekly rate (and sadly we needed this) is $6/ft/week. That works out to buy 4 nights, get 3 nights free (or every other night is free if you stay 7 day (which would be my ad campaign). (Actually I would just use REALLY GREAT WIFI ! ! ! as my ad campaign)

Small but very accomodating, 2014-04-19
Captain: , Orange Beach, AL (263)

Stayed overnight and bought fuel April 4, 2014. Great fuel price, stayed open past close for us to arrive, and provided everything I could ever ask for. This is my favorite area in florida, genuine, grateful people that willl go out of their way for you. Boat wakes were minor if at all noticable. only a few slips but has a decent sized lay dock, which was all I could get into.

Good place to stop, 2012-11-20
Captain: , indecision (83)

Stopped for a night to wait for the weather to turn. Ended up being four. The service was great VERY clean facilitys, pet friendly and the nicest people you would ever want to do buisness with. The only thng that keeps this from having five stars would be the wakes from pleasure boating during the day but still calm at night. convient locatition and an Easy walk to the beautiful downtown area. Prices more than fair

Handy on GIIW, nice people., 2012-10-07
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1866)

Pulled in late for dock, 1.50 per foot. 10-12' water on approach and at dock at low tide. Owner came back after close to turn on power, good power. Nice people. 2nd restaurant norht was very good.

new big dock, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Pensacola, Florida (171)

This is owned by what used to be Miller's marine. They own the fuel dock but this dock is across from the liquor store up the creek just a little way but before you get to the new hotel. Good power and a big solid dock. Call before you get there for a reservation and they clean the dock which has sea gull poop most of the time. Walking distance to everything.

Millers Marina, 2009-02-19
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Paid for a slip, but they were pressuring us to leave first thing in the morning.

Little more than a fuel dock.
