Reviews for Annapolis Landing Marina
Best of Annapolis, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Back Creek, MD (10)

Great marina. Dockmaster Ralph is outstanding.

friendly place, 2016-07-16
Captain: , mobile, al (121)

Great people. Even though they are presently at 100% capacity, they worked us in with a slip that the renter was out of town. We were planning on only one night, but an engine problem kept us there for a while. They worked around our needs and found us a truly wonderful mechanic.

Great Marina, 2016-05-16
Captain: , Annapolis (401)

Showers Laundry Fuel and nice people. Ralph is the best. Courtesy van available. Close to West Marine and Fawcetts and grocery store. It can get rough on D and G dock as they are exposed.

Great stop, 2016-03-25
Captain: , Sanibel (195)

We were here 3-24-16. First staff answers the phone for reservations. Second water is on bathrooms spotless. Ralph the dockmaster is the best. They know what you need and you get it at the best price. Why pay more? They even have cable TV hook ups. Have a real courtesy car too. We will return.

Very nice marina, 2016-02-02
Captain: , Annapolis MD (10)

This is a very nice marina for liveaboards. Fine group of people there and the dockmaster (Ralph) is a very nice guy.

Easy in & out, cordial staff., 2015-10-09
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Up back creek, narrow but limited wind or current. 2 x 50 plugs work good, 12.5' water at T head of A dock. $3.00 ', loaner car.

Great Service, 2015-09-24
Captain: , Annapolis (262)

Stopped at Annapolis Landing for first fill-up on new (to us) sailboat. Dock attendant was right there to help us tie up and was patient while we did a "slow fill" since we weren't sure our fuel gauge was accurate. Thought it would take 8-10 gallons, took 22 (capacity 24). Now we know. Will definitely use them again. Great (and patient) service.

Great Facilities, Great Folks, 2015-09-18
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (950)

We had friends who were liveaboard here recommend ALM, and we were not disappointed during our recent stay of 2 nights. The facilities are really great. If you have a dog, the grounds are very dog friendly. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. We used their courtesy vehicle a few times - once when the Annapolis Water Taxi was "hesitant" to come out to Back Creek, since he was so busy downtown. Would definitely say here again when coming thru Nap Town.

Will Return, 2015-08-16
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (90)

We stayed for four nights--three days--while getting some canvas fitted. Made the reservation a week or two in advance. On the day we arrived, a Sunday, I radioed while a few miles out to get docking instructions. They gave me a slip number and when I checked it against the marina map, said no way, and asked for another, explaining why. The dockmaster offered me a much better location, and we pulled in there a few minutes later. This location allowed me to use my dinghy with ease, and that was important.

Marina lived up to its billing. Quiet, clean, nice facilities. Staff very helpful. Live-aboards were equally friendly.

They have a shuttle service that will take you into Annapolis or to the nearest grocery store--a good distance. If you have a dinghy, just go over to Eastport (< 5 minutes) and walk into town.

Great operation, 2015-08-07
Captain: , Olcott, NY (2536)

05/10/15 - i left my boat here for a month while southbound and was very pleased, upon returning north we stayed here again.
this is a well run marina with a great staff, clean, private showers and heads.
The washers however do not spin properly, leaving your laundry soaking wet and requiring additonal drying time. we mentioned this to the marina staff last oct., but nothing had been done to fix it on this arrival.
however it is just a minor inconvenience and does not detract from the overall quality of the operation.
The marina provides a car for shopping, which is a god sent as provisioning is a VERY long walk away.

Clean facilities, helpful staff, 2015-07-19
Captain: , New Orleans, LA (631)

In 10 years of summer cruising, we have never met a more helpful dockhand than Rusty. First impressions are important; he is knowledgable and friendly, and this started our visit on the right foot. The docks are well maintained, and the showers are modern and clean. If you want to easily enjoy the shops and restaurants in Eastport and Annapolis, it's best to have a dinghy. The 4th St public dinghy dock in Eastport is only a 5 minute trip across the creek (15 minutes if you borrow the marina's car), and it's a 15 minute dinghy run to the Ego Alley dinghy dock in the heart of Annapolis. This is our first visit to ALM (we stayed at Mears in the past) but it will now be our home base on future Annapolis visits.

Nice Marina, 2015-07-16
Captain: , Philadelphia (90)

Chartered a 45 Beneteau from here on 06/25/15. Very nice facilities and ships store.

Simply Superb, 2015-06-11
Captain: , Hampton (10)

Everything about Annapolis Landing is first rate. Very friendly and helpful staff leads the list of the great things available to the transient. Spotless, well appointed facilities and a great pool. Giant grocery, West Marine, Fawcett's, a beer/wine/liquor store, and several good restaurants are available within five minutes in the courtesy car. Ego alley and town center a short dingy or water taxi ride away. Clearly the best value for money for n the area.

Outstanding service, 2015-06-10
Captain: , Hampton, Va (210)

spent two nights here. Very clean marina and staff extremely helpful and courteous. Loaner car to access local businesses and markets invaluable

Excellent Marina, 2015-06-09
Captain: , Newcastle upon Tyne (463)

Stayed here 3 nights to rendevous with family. Excellent marina, hard to criticise it in any way, and reasonably priced as well. The water taxi makes a nice trip into the centre of town (Ego Alley). The absence of nearby groceries was overcome with their loaner van. The staff were friendly and professional.

A1Facility great staff we will be back, 2015-05-16
Captain: , Toronto (230)

Ralph Jim and Dusty are great attending to lines and helping with the needs of boaters.
Fuel price was good and the guys helped us with whatever we needed.
Great job guys

We arrived waiting for a weather window moving north. As weather can do a few days turned into a week. The entire crew continued to go the extra mile to help us wheather we asked or if they noticed we needed help it was always prompt and courtious!
Internet is good, we where loaned a car to do provisioning and all the time with a smile and suggestions on what might be the best place to pick up what we needed.
Baths and facilities are clean and well maintained, other slip holders are pleasant this has been a great experience.

Anonymous comments by vad001 about Annapolis Landing Marina in comparison to Port Annapolis Marina deserves response., 2015-03-30
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (371)

First, vad001 speaks highly of Port Annapolis Marina. I concur that Port A is a fine facility and is well run. It is a large marina with considerable space to provide a nice lounge, snack bar, playground and pavilion, that is used extensively by slipholders, tenants and outside catered functions. It is also a working boatyard with convenient haul out, repair and painting facilities. Indeed, we often recommend Port A , our next door neighbor, for boat painting and repair.
It is vad001%u2019s description of Annapolis Landing that I find to be disingenuous. His or her finding fault with an %u201Cadversarial%u201D owner, a %u201Cugh%u201D lawyer, suggests that he (she) might have had some disagreement with me. Perhaps. I am strict with our regulations and insist that our slipholders treat our facility and each other with respect. Our slipholders, many of whom have been with us for decades, appreciate all of that.
As for the ALM, a relatively small facility, I have spent over one million dollars in the past six years upgrading slips, electricity and finger piers. We had a highly successful restaurant on the premises, but required its closure two years ago because the restaurant absorbed too many parking spaces and created undesirable ripe refuse to the discomfort of slip holders.
Our older bath facility that is used primarily by live aboards is nice, clean and recently upgraded itself. About five years ago, I built an additional new bath facility withy individual toilet and shower rooms for men and women. It is well maintained and kept scrupulously clean.
Our slipholder parking lots and driveways are all paved with black top (no dust). We do not have a working boatyard (no dust or noise). We do have barbecues, winter water supply and several recreational areas, including a tented pavilion and a large covered porch with tables and chairs. These amenities are there for the slipholders and are not rented out for weddings and outside functions. We do not permit use of our pool by other than our slipholders and tenants. We have lots of green space.
We are well known in the area by our grounds, that are well groomed with lots of trees, shrubs and flowers.

decent location, aging, unresponsive management, 2015-02-15
Captain: , Annapolis (28)

most of the docks are about 30 years old, though finger piers have beenr replaced and extended on two of the docks. One set of bathrooms is 30 years old and looks it, the other around 10 years old. Much of the equipment is starting to show it's age (bathroom fixtures are green with corrosion and age). The owner is a lawyer, and often takes an adversarial view to the tenants. Better amenities can be found next door at Port Annapolis, such as free and effective wifi, and enclosed pavilian for barbeques, gas grills, work out exercise room, a beautiful slip holders lounge, a restaraunt, playground, winter water supply, a marine supply store, plentiful storage sheds, all of which are absent from ALM.

Good location, fair facilities, poor admin, 2014-11-02
Captain: , Washington, DC (10)

ALM is a nice place to stay. The fuel dock staff is first class. The bathrooms near B dock and higher are very nice. The ones near A dock are very ugly. Be careful on the admin side. They make billing mistakes and are often confused. The owner was unresponsive when we tried to escalate a customer service concern.

One of the best marinas on this trip, 2014-10-14
Captain: , Essex (140)

We stopped here Oct 5 - 7. The floating docks were well maintained with cable tv available. Unfortunately the internet was not working at the time of our visit. The bath facilities were excellent, clean and private. The dock services were also without complaint.
ALM is off the beaten track on the southern side of Back Bay, but with a short dingy ride across the bay (say 150 yards) you can tie up at a number of dingy docks and it is a short walk into Annapolis or numberous restaurants in Eastport. One restaurant we recommed is the Blackwell Hatch, which had great ambience and terrific wines and food selections.
A Giants Grocery store is a few miles away but can be an easy bike ride due to very flat terrain and low traffic volumes.
A very good hardware store is also only a block further from the grocery store.
Negotiated a rate of $2/ft when their published rate was $3. though we were in and out just ahead of the boat show.

Terrific team, affordable fuel, 2014-09-03
Captain: , Galesville (60)

In addition to having a phenomenal staff, ALM is usually the most affordable fuel in the Annapolis area!

ALM a terrific marina, 2014-05-08
Captain: , Dover (10)

Dusty the dock master was very friendly courteous and extremely helpful with all our boating needs. ALM is lucky to have him as an employee. ALM is the jewel of Back Creek! We love this place and will visit again on our next to Annapolis and points South.

Classy and Comfy, 2013-08-22
Captain: , Rochester, NY (493)

Top marks for Dockmaster Jim and the whole setup! Very comfortable transient dock - sparkling clean facilities - great breakfast restaurant, albeit a bit chilly (all seating was outside). Jim even came to the rescue when we didn't have enough quarters for the washing machine. How's that for service?!

Its 5 star except for one thing., 2013-08-07
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1787)

This is a positive review. ALM is first class all the way. The shore side amenities are great. Wooden docks. The slips facing the creek are huge! The staff is wonderful. Jack and Evie are wonderful ambassadors for the place. Dusty and Shawn are very good too. You can't go wrong staying here for a night, a week, a month or a season. All first class. The views of busy Back Creek are entertaining with beautiful sunsets. Some people are concerned about the entrance to Back Creek. Don't be. As an old codger onced yelled at me, "There's plenty of water out there!" Loaner car for two hour trips to nearby Giant food store and West Marine. Target, Whole Foods, Home Depot and Walmart are within the two hours borrowing time but you have to hustle and you can only probably visit one of them during the two hours.

The only reason, and I do mean the ONLY reason that this is not a five star review on my part is that it is too darn expensive to get to the city center and enjoy this great town unless you have an able dinghy or a car. There is a water taxi pick up point here but for a couple using provided $1 off coupons it is still $26 (round trip) to go to Ego Alley and spend a day in Annapolis. The price each does go down the more people on board but that isn't always going to be the case. It's complicated. And you do need a day or more to see things. We felt slightly trapped here. Not that that's a bad thing because this is such a great marina. I guess if you're here to see Annapolis (and don't have an able dinghy) it will cost you more money than you'd expect to get to town. If you are here to see the Bay and to do daytrips on your boat, its all good. It's all about having your expectations set correctly.

Our month stay here is almost over and we had lots of fun going out on day trips into the Bay and Magothy River and had a blast. ALM is highly recommended by us and we are confident we will return.

Friendly and Professional Marina. They treat you like family., 2013-08-03
Captain: , Tweed (10)

Great experience. Jim Stewart made our stay so comfortable. Jim assisted to organise repairs. Lent us the Marina's Happy Car to get marine and provisioning supplies. The Annapolis Landing marina is a short dinghy row to the Annapolis pubs and restaurants. Great access to Chesapeake Bay and beyond.
I hope I get the chance to enjoy jim's hospitality again very soon.

Least expensive fuel, 2013-07-04
Captain: , Houston (774)

We stopped here for fuel as this was the least expensive fuel we could find between Poprtsmouth and Annapolis.

Huge Patience, 2013-05-19
Captain: , Wickford, RI (550)

We had issues with an engine and the holding tank while taking on fuel. Dockmaster was most gracious and accommodating; allowed us, worked with us, to sort things out at the fuell dock much longer than he had to. Then let us tie-up at an adjacent dock to finish-up and clean-up. All this with good humor. Much appreciated.

Sorry to report that the restaurant has been permanently closed. Still open for catering.
Got this info directly from the manager this week.

Great Marina, 2012-08-07
Captain: , Lakewood Ranch, FL (82)

Stayed here for 5 weeks. Harbormaster, Jim, and his crew create an at home atmosphere. Great people make a great marina and this one you won't want to miss. An easy taxi ride to downtown plus a courtesy van for runs to the supermarket, West Marine and other places.

Outstanding fuel dock service and prices!, 2012-07-15
Captain: , Rumsey Island (330)

You wouldn't know they were the only fuel dock on Back Creek by their prices and service. This is the kind of business you want to support. Super friendly and very competitive prices. I will be back!

Jim is great, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (675)

Jim the dockmaster is very accomadating and friendly. Also helpful with timing in docking and short term stays. Has som eof the best shower and bath facilities I have seen. A good ways from actual downtown and hsitoric area of Annapolis but water taxi is available.

Fuel Dock Service, 2011-09-17
Captain: , Dover DE (228)

Excellent service. Dock is roughly North-South facing so it was easy on/off with wide turning basin. Fuel was clean and water/pump out services easly available.

Ken's Back Porch at Annapolis Landing, 2011-09-01
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (195)

This is one of the best places for breakfast. Food and presentation is fabulous and all seating is outdoors with a great view of Back Creek. I highly recommend this place!

Great Marina - avoid the NE slips, 2011-08-17
Captain: , Annapolis (795)

Kept two boats here at one time. This is great marina, easily accessed, great fuel dock, and wonderful dockmaster. Some of the slips are exposed to the NE. If you are at one of these slips during a nor'easter, you will have damage to your boat. Great bath facilites, on-site laundry, great pool. I put my boat on the hard when I went to Afghanistan for a year. When I came back, I asked for my old slip back, but they jacked the price up by 2 grand, so I stopped keeping my boat here.

Best Fuel Prices, 2011-07-15
Captain: , Georgetown, MD (133)

Typically has the best fuel prices in the Annapolis area. Easy access to fuel dock.

Great place to live, 2008-04-01
Captain: , Cruising (3259)

We lived aboard at ALM for three years and had a great experience. The dockmaster staff was excellent, the facility is well-maintained (older docks were replaced), the heads and showers are all brand new and beautiful. Very clean. Oil and antifreeze recycling on site. Snow removal from the docks in the winter was super.
