Reviews for Anchorage Resort and Yacht Club
Great refuge, 2016-03-28
Captain: , Roswell, Georgia (72)

We were stuck with a forestay and jib furler that ripped apart in some high winds about 15 miles north of this resort. They accepted us and our BoatUS card ($1.87/foot/night) for 2 weeks while insurance sorted us out.

They could not have been more hospitable, staff and guests alike, and we were given the run of the resort's facilities including rest rooms, showers, WiFi, swimming pool, heated whirlpool and free coffee.

This is an older style place, now a time share resort. But don't let that put you off. A great place to stay.

Small, tidy, friendly, 2016-03-12
Captain: , Michigan City, IN (828)

This is a very tiny marina and hotel right alongside the ICW. We pulled in after being on the hook for just over a week. Staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. Boat US discount ($2 foot). Water/electric were included in slip fee. Security gate with code at the parking lot and uniformed sec. officer walked property at night. No restaurant options other than to dinghy across channel to Gilbert's. Music from Gilbert's was loud but stopped by 10pm. We walked to dinner at Shipwreck's (1.8 miles away). We recommend the place/food/prices but NOT THE WALK, especially after dark. Walking hazards (no lights, high speed traffic, narrow shoulder, uneven surface, broken glass, etc...) abound.
Wifi was okay; better early morning and later in evening. It was strong enough to download a few updates. 5 bar Verizon service for phones, 3bars for hotspot.

Good Spot watch cross current, 2016-02-26
Captain: , Delray Beach FL (20)

I was planning on heading to Tavernier, but opted to stay here while cold fronts can through. Staff was nice, both bathrooms worked and were kept clean.

FYI there is a cross current that sweeps from the mangroves to the east towards the ICW channel. You don't feel it until the boat is almost in the slip.

Without a car, off boat meal choices are limited to delivery. Gilbert's is either a dinghy ride or walk along US1- there is no sidewalk on that road.

Could be better, 2015-07-01
Captain: , Port Charlotte, FL (280)

Only one shower was operational. The other had the handicap seat broken and blocking the shower. Poor ventilation left you sweating before you could get dressed. Parking amenities are not extended to boaters who rent a car. Had to park outside the gate and pay $10.00 a night. Slips were nice and we had use of the pool and laundry. Transient boaters are considered sub standard to resort guests.

Fine place to stop on Intrcoastal, 2015-05-26
Captain: , Pompano Beach, FL (10)

This place was a fine place to stop. Bit pricy $2.50/ft (includes total length) for the ameneties, but can't be more convienent to the ICW. Bath Showers clean, Grills, Pool, and across from Gilberts for entertainment/food.

Waiting for wind to lay down, 2015-03-02
Captain: , Fernandina, FL (428)

Stayed a couple of nights waiting for wind. Make sure you mention BoatUS for a discount as won't automatically put it on or ask you. Time share condos. Restaurant next door is closed so Gilbert's is the only nearby place. Wide slips with 2x6 on concrete pilings so fender boards help on windy nights. Bernadette at front desk very helpful. Laundry facilities good.

Not a bad place, but pricey, 2015-01-08
Captain: , Hartfield, VA (140)

Pros:
-Bulkhead tie-up convienient for catamarans
-Lady at the desk very helpful/friendly
-Across the ditch from Gilberts where all the action is, long walk or short dinghy ride
Cons:
-Pricey for average amenities
-Not dog friendly, but plenty of room to walk your dog outside the marina along the overpass & creek

Great Facility to overnight, 2014-03-08
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (375)

A bit of current at the dock, but they have a pool and tennis court. You can walk to a restaurant next door. Timeshare condo's to rent.

A nice place to stop off on the way south, 2014-02-02
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1234)

The pool is nice, the hot tub is ok neding repairs, the cost is 2.50 with electric minus 25 % Boat US discount if it's not a holiday. Getting into town requires a cab or an avid bicyclist. Steammer is closed, bu there is a bar/resteraunt behind it.

Overcharged, 2013-11-04
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (11)

Have stayed at the Anchorage before and we were satisfied with our stay. The right lady behind the front desk makes all the difference. This time we were charged for my anchor and dingy, even though I could have easily put it on deck.. too late I was towing it when I docked. The restrooms and showers were 'out of order' and there are silly rules about this and that and when the water is turned on to top off your tanks. After mentioning it to the desk clerk we got a room key to shower.
People there arent' friendly and seem annoyed that you ask for things. No pump out, or any place to walk and streach your legs, save the highway.
Won't go there again.

very nice view, 2012-05-10
Captain: , Newport, R.I. (644)

Getting ready to cross to the Bahamas and good place to fill with water and since there is a roll to the anchorage out front.. nice time to tie up after 5 night traveling each night on the hook. $1.85 / ft. with boatus.

Anchorage Marina, 2012-03-14
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale FL (167)

Ther is a pool and hot tub which are kept very clean. The restrooms and showers are also clean Steamers Resturant is adjacent to the resort. Concrete piers at the marina very little change in tides. great place to stay in either on your boat or in one of the rooms. Girls in the office are very nice and knowledgabel. If you need help with docking just call ahead.

An OK bad weather stop, 2012-03-05
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fl (838)

We stayed at the Anchorage to wait out a cold front moving through. Way too many rules and not particularly boater friendly. When we went inside to pay for the slip, the young lady told us to wait so SHE could verify the length of our boat (guess all boaters are liars). Not pet friendly either. Info they handed out said "...no pets allowed on property". So you have to keep them on the boat and if they have to go out, take them off the property. The rate seemed high ($2.50) but on the plus side they did give a 25% Boat US discount.

yummy food, 2011-07-05
Captain: , Vero Beach FL (120)

We docked here because Gilbert's had no power on face dock. Pleasant surprise with appies and casual dining. Try the Calamari and you'll never think of rubber bands again! Tuna bites are amazing...but stay indoors just before sunset until long after sunrise. The no see-ums will take you hostage.

Overcharged!!, 2011-02-18
Captain: , Illinois (2444)

They don't honor Boat US on holiday weekends even though docks remained empty. I can see why. The person on duty came out to the dock to measure our boat. Our boat is 25 feet but she measured the anchor and the outboard motor and charged for an extra 3 feet. So, we paid the whole fee of $2.00 a foot plus the bogus 3 feet. That extra $6.00 gets them bad press from me rather than sending them new customers.

Expect to get waked. Nearly half the boaters passing the creek didn't slow enough. Don't expect to be able to leave your dinghy at your boat either...they will charge for the extra footage. No fuel and no pump off station.
I'll be warning as many people as I possibly can to avoid them being over charged.

Great Stop, 2011-02-10
Captain: , Key Largo (80)

I stayed at this facility for a week in October. The staff here
is really great. The rooms are very large and they have everything
you need The place is very clean and kept up very nice.
Great Expirence. Will go there again

Pleasant alternative to Gilbert's, 2009-10-18
Captain: , Knoxville, TN (1788)

Everyone says Gilbert's is wonderful, but we had a bad experience trying to get in on a Sunday afternoon. So, we called Anchorage who was more than happy to hold a slip for us. When we arrived, someone helped us tie up. They have fixed concrete slips. The pool & hot tub is right there at the slips, so you do not have far to go to relax. They have a couple restrooms with a shower each at the dock. there are nice tables right at the dock to sit and enjoy a meal. The marina is also part of a hotel. Next door is a bar/restaurant which is good nad has daily specials. This is a great place to stop as you are making your way to/from the Keys form the east coast of Florida. It is very easy access.

Anchorage Resort Rating, 2008-11-01
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (5)

Clean marina but little access to more than one restaurant (which is closed on Mondays). Clean pool and clean restroom. Opposite Gilberts Marina and Resort but the draw bridge over Jewfish Creek has been closed so it is a long (and dangerous) walk over the new bridge to reach Gilberts.
