Reviews for Anchor Bay East Marina
Great Experience, 2017-05-07
Captain: , Stuart, FL (1019)

Our boat was shipped from Victoria, BC, to Baltimore. After researching area marinas, we called Art Cox to make arrangements. He was very accommodating on the phone; basically, he said they could do whatever we needed.

We made the 2-mile trip over and found a quiet, small Marina with good fixed docks, adequate space, and good 50amp power. We discussed what we needed to do, including leaving our dinghy (11-foot Whaler) somewhere while we drove the trailer and car back to NC. Art picked it up with his crane and set it down on a tall rack.

When we got back, Art used the crane again to put our new Steelhead crane on the roof. After we got everything set up, the dinghy got dropped in the water and stowed above.

I won't go into all the things we did to prep our boat over a ten-day period. It included a short haul to replace zincs and paint the prop - when we asked to do it!

I have been in a lot of boatyards and service centers and never been treated so well. Art doesn't treat you like a customer. He treats you like a friend! All of the people here are friendly and professional. I, also, want to mention Tina, Art's wife, who was a big help to us.

The on-site store is fully stocked. The restaurant, The Hard Yacht Cafe, is a hoot with great food, live music, and great service.

If you need work done, or just a quiet spot to hide out, Anchor Bay East Marina is a true gem.

Hard Yacht Cafe is great to pop in and fill up with fuel and then grab a bite to eat.

Had a repair done that required craftsman level woodwork. Finished product was amazing - I would trust them with any project.

Great place to stay, 2016-06-16

Art and Tina and their family were amazing hosts for our 12 day stay. Most slips are fixed wooden docks with 30 amp power but there is a floating dock with 50 amp available. The thing that drew us here was that dockage was FREE with food or fuel, the food was fantastic, live intertainment and the use of the yard truck to run errands. We flew home and Tina took us to the airport! While there is not much else in the immedidate area, it fit our needs perfectly. Art arranged for haul out to clean bottom, replace zincs and wash/ wax while we were gone. In addition, they replaced our Rudder packing which was a difficult job, 2 other marina's had passed on doing. Cost of the work was reasonable and we were so pleased to have it completed quickly. When we returned, our cleaned shiny boat was back in our slip waiting for us to continue our loop journey. The fuel dock was easy to approach and cost was low. They do a high volume of fueling for recreational and commercial boats in the area. Pumpout was free and easy, with long hoses to reach both sides of boat without having to turn the boat around.

Art and Tina are the best and in our opinion this is the best marina in the area. We had to leave the boat for a few days and we had no worries while we were gone.
Food at the Hard Yacht Cafe is great, live music daily.
Well run, very clean and well kept facility. We look forward to returning. Also best fuel prices in the Baltimore area.

Great fuel prices, 2015-11-24

We moved from Baltimore Inner Harbor to fuel since their fuel pricing is so good! $0.50 less than Inner Harbor pricing.

Exceeding Expectations!, 2015-11-09

Second visit was on the way south, 6 months after the first visit.. Art and Tina welcomed us as old friends. The parts department assembled our order that included Onan, Caterpillar, Racor, Walker Air Sep, Groco and general boat parts and supplies. We performed some maintenance on the dock and continued to enjoy the bar and restaurant. Out of the way, but worth the trip. PS: Diver in Connecticut confirmed that the bottom paint is intact and effective.

Arrived from Hilton Head at 3:30 PM Sunday.
Boat hauled by Travelift at 7:00 AM Monday.
Bottom power washed, taped, masked, painted by noon.
Paint dried, set overnight.
Back in Travelift by 7:15 AM Tuesday for touchup paint.
Launched at 8:20 AM and moved to fuel dock to add 385 gallons.
Departed for RI by 10:00 Tuesday.
Meanwhile, spent time and all meals in bar/restaurant. All family members and staff were very helpful.

The best service for your boat and fun for you, 2015-10-27

We have had two haul outs in 2015 one in June and one in Oct. Both were handled very well. All of the staff and i mean everyone was courteous and proficient. Added to that the price was very fair. Art and Tina, the owners, know how to run a marina. The Hard Yacht Cafe is a hoot and well worth the trip to Bear creek.

Very disappointed!i, 2015-08-10
Captain: , Baltimore (21)

I went to this marina for several years.. In the past I explained that his tone could be too harsh and will prefer mutual respect and I thought this was over. I thought we established trust and mutual respect.. I was wrong.. Maybe my foreign accent.... But the cost estimate was much higher than the initial verbal estimate and the job not was not I was exactly asking for? Before the job done, I tried to call him twice to explained what I wanted. But Be aware that Not to call Art on his cell as he was too busy for me and cut me down twice. I find it rude and bad bed side manners. Art refused to do what I was asking for saying this was not to code. I checked the code and nothing mentioned that cannot be done. Tina refunded me for changing the zincs that were just changed a month before and I didn't request them to be changed. In conclusion, He made me feel that I was just too dumb for him and had just have to pay without asking question. This is not the only marina in the bay and that time I learned it...

Great Facility, 2014-10-31

Art and Tina have a great full service marina and haul out facility for both large and small vessel. The extensive parts department, Hard Yacht Cafe on site, great fuel prices, and friendly service keeps me coming back.

Very Accomodating, 2014-09-17
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (216)

I needed to haul the boat to check for fouling a couple of weeks ago. I called the marina at 9am on Thursday and was told to come on over but call when approaching. I called hoping for the best and that's what I got. I pulled directly into the larger Travellift. I barely shut everything down and they were hauling. My wife was still stepping off the boat when the pressure washer started up. We went over to the restaurant on-premises while the work was completed. They were done before we finished the meal. $5/ft. for the work. The only downside was that the sides of the hull were left with scum from the cleaning. It would have been easy to clean at the time but I didn't notice it 'til I got back to my slip - thus 4 stars instead of 5. Anyway, it was less than an hour. Fantastic.

Still The Best, 2013-10-13
Captain: , Washington, DC (149)

On 10/4/2013 we left BMC Harborview at 0800 hr and pulled into Anchor Bay East 1 hour later for a scheduled short haul. The crew was waiting for us at the Travel Lift and we were hauled immediately. We had a terrific breakfast at the Hard Yacht Cafe and were back in the water two hours later. Chris is their chief mechanic and is a master at whatever he does. He replaced the two flexible couplings connecting our engines to the Naiad stabilizer hydraulic pumps and corrected the problem of misaligned platforms holding the pumps. And the price was right! Back to the Hard Yacht Cafe for dinner and live music. No charge for the overnight dockage. Way to go Art!

Another excellent stay!, 2012-11-06
Captain: , Jamestown, RI (42)

After holing up in Chesapeake City during Sandy, we made a beeline for Anchor Bay and the Hard Yacht Cafe and were delighted to find that they hadn't suffered damage, and were open and welcoming as usual. A family operation with friendly staff, good facilities, fuel, a parts store, cafe & bar, and awesome crab cakes. Say hi to Art and Tina when you stop in.

Very well run Marina & Cafe, 2012-09-28
Captain: , Freeport TX (143)

Art & Tina have really put it together. Starting with a full service marina with haul out up to 85 tons and fuel (cheapest in the harbor) a ships store. Wooden docks and floating docks. The Hard Yacht Cafe is everything you would want with live music most nights. We stayed for three weeks replacing our washer/dryer and a short haul to paint the running gear. They have an excellent staff that knows what they are going. The only down side is there are not stores close. The closest grocery is 1.5 miles away. Will stop again..

Great Service and people, 2011-10-20

A great stop along the way to/from Baltimore, 2011-09-21
Captain: , Lavallette, NJ (251)

Based on recommendations from liveaboards in Baltimore, visited Anchor Bay for fuel (best prices in area) on the way south and had lunch at Hard Yatch Cafe. Staff helpful, courteous and genuinely friendly - appreciate having your business. Hard Yatch has great atmosphere, lots of fried foods and free overnight dockage.

Anchor Bay East Marina, 2010-06-05
Captain: , Gloucester, Mass. (799)

We have found that Anchor Bay does excellent work in a timely fashion. We were very impressed by the way excellent mechanic Chris Stewart replaced our Naiad stabilizer seals, a couple of leaking hydraulic hoses, and the Naiad hydraulic pump. Anchor Bay stocks the parts, such as Naiad seals and filters.
We always enjoy our stays at this homey, family-run marina

We stored our boat there,on the hard, winter 08-09. Art was very accomodating and the prices were very reasonable. Great co-operation in working with us on comissioning the boat. Provided mechanical help when we needed it and gave us lots of free storage time and nights at the dock when we ran behind schedule.

Great staff, remote location, 2008-11-24
Captain: , Bermuda (219)

Spent one night here (Nov 08) sitting out bad weather on our way up to Baltimore. The staff were lovely; ate at marina cafe (basic fried food but very welcoming). The location is remote residential, not much to see in the area.

The Best!, 2008-04-04
