Reviews for American Custom Yachts
Nothing fancy, but good fuel prices, 2017-02-07
Captain: , High Springs, FL (848)

We stopped by for a top off. It's not your typical marina but a great place to grab diesel at a good price.

Update 2/4/17 - we stopped here during a boat delivery and topped off with a little more than 300 gallons. ACY was closed for the weekend but you can get after hours fuel from the security guard. Can't beat the diesel price $2.24/ gallon.

Captain: , Key Largo (90)

American Yachts phone number is 772-221-9100. Diesel fuel = $2.58/gal + 6% tax on 9 Apr 2015.

very good diesel price, 2015-08-21
Captain: , Phoenix, AZ (960)

Price was right. $2.30 per gallon plus 6 per cent tax worked out to 2.48. The dock is hard to see until very close. They did not answer on VHF but they answered the phone quickly and sent line handlers to the dock.

Great fuel stop, 2014-03-11
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1997)

Pulled in here today and topped off our tanks first fill up since Mobile AL in November the price was $3.76 plus tax.
The fuel dock is easiy accessible and the fuel hose is long and clean with plenty of reach to all tanks.

Fuel stop only, 2012-12-31
Captain: , Athens, AL (641)

Didn't really need fuel but after checking upcoming prices, decided to stop anyway and top off. $350/gal plus tax at 6% (Diesel). Quick and easy in/out. You have to pump your own, not a problem for me. Lady in the office offered us coffee while we waited pumping 250 gals, very slow pumps. She had a sprayer of some sort of mixture in case there was any spill but we had none. She said they sell their fuel at cost as a benefit for their customers. Looks like they do some serious services here.

Not for the Basic Boater, 2012-11-30
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

If you have an 80 ft. sportfish, this is your place. ACY has three very good travelifts, for yachts up to 150 ft. We saw there Hurricane special for a free haul out and re-launch for at least 4 months of dry storage. We put our trawlercat on the hard from mid June to late November. The monthly fee was reasonable but what gave the yard a ONE star was their fees for any service and frankly their attitude to the typical cruiser. These guys are used to large yachts with deep corporate pockets, and not the typical boater who is trying to stay on budget. Their quote for a bottom paint job was over twice the cost from two other reputable yards. I had a window leak and their fee to fix was 5 X what I felt was reasonable. They are friendly, but frankly just do not care. Never again.

Facility Review, 2012-02-19
Captain: , Pensacola (42)

No serious work of anykind, fiberglass repair, changing engine oil or filters, etc... can be done by the owner unless the owner carries specialty insurance for marine repair; regardless of the competency of the owner, his background or marine related experience.

All work I had done was top notch and excellent. Price was also commensurate with the work. It is a union yard or at least there are very clear divisions of labor and skill. Therefore it may take several different employees to complete a task, each scheduling in their part of the repair, none who can complete or resolve any particular aspect that is outside their balleywick. If I were having work done and I wanted to be sure it was done correctly I would choose them but I would also expect to pay the top dollar for the repair.

If a repairman or surveyor is brought in from outside the yard staff they must be cleared to work on the premises - insurance carrier varified and paperwork completed prior to working on your boat. The owner cannot pay these type of repairman or surveyor directly, they are paid through ACY, who also adds an additional 10% to the bill for an ACY fee.

They have their ruless, their work is excellent. They were friendly and gladly explained their procedures, giving bids with owner acceptance to the bid and the planned repair before starting any type of repair or installation. No surprises.

Speaking only of gas & people, 2012-01-11
Captain: , Pinnacle, NC, USA (1422)

Both stars apply to the price. But, yes I would buy there again. Eastbound boaters won't see the dock until already passed it. Go no reply on the VHF to the question. No one on the dock upon arrival. Inquired within and a person eventually showed up -- clearly PO'd at being called to such a lowly duty. Cost us 30 minutes that a properly run organisation would have handled with aplomb.

Great Place for Hurricane Haul Outs, 2011-02-02
Captain: , Hernando Beach, Fl (300)

They have a huge storage yard and 3 travel lifts. They are very efficient hauling out many boats when a hurricane is threatening. They also offer a lot of repairs and custom services. But, it's a good 1 hour ride in a power boat from the St. Lucie Inlet.

Cheapest fuel on OWW and possibly in FL, 2011-01-18
Captain: , Miami, fl (3666)

Convenient when crossing FL on the OWW, a little out of the way when traveling the ICW but may still be worth the detour
