Reviews for Albany Resort and Marina
ok that got me, 2017-01-06
Captain: , Key West (10)

I was tired from a long sail with a Northern moving in and needed diesel (37 gl.). Stayed 1 nite and checked in with imagination costed me $960. Very nice facility and the folks were helpful. If I had not been so worn out I would have moved on. Oh yeah I still have to deal with the Northern.

FYI water is 30c per gal when you purchase fuel

Very Expensive, 2015-08-06
Captain: , Fort L (282)

Development is upscale and expensive and the area is under construction. Unless you have a mega yacht budget - stay away.

Very nice but not finished, 2014-12-10

The marina and marina staff are very nice but it's still a construction site around much of the marina. You need to rent a golf cart to get around if you want to easily get to some of the other facilities. Close to good fishing and diving spots on the SW side of the island. Very good fuel dock.

Fee changes, 2014-01-10
Captain: , Texas (23)

We made our 3rd trip to Albany in January 2014. We liked it til now. The fee structure has changed significantly. It is now $8/ft in season and $4/ft with a $200 PER DAY resort fee attached to the cost of the slip rental. This is for boats less than 125ft and some minor differences if you have a 125+ boat. This fee is regardless of whether there are 2 or 10 people on board. You will need to rent a golf cart at $80/day to get to amenities. Fuel price is good. That is the only plus now. Unless you have a super yacht and/or a super yacht budget, it is now too expensive. It is obvious they are now only catering to the very wealthy.

Little details missing...., 2013-09-19

We stopped at Albany Marina in September for first time and pleasantly surprised. Staff is very nice and helpful. We had people arrive and depart from airport and didn't experience any taxi surcharges mentioned in other reviews. Customs and immigration meet you directly on boat.
The property develeopment is well underway and restaurant, bar, pools, beaches are very good in both quality and service. Property is very-very quite which suited us well but if your looking for night out or other restaurants you will need to take long taxi ride.

Only downside we experieced was long walk from marina to area were these ammenities are located. They say they have free bikes to use but the two at the marina office both had flat tires and couldn't find any other 'blue bikes' to use anywhere. Suppose this is intentional to force you to rent a golf cart. Other item was no showers facilities although they did have staff toilet for use. Mention as most full service marinas have shower, laundry, toilets, ice, etc.

Overall a nice experience on our first visit to Nassau but next time around look forward to seeing what Paradise area has to offer.

A true first class resort, 2013-07-01

We stayed here for almost two weeks in early June '13 and had a wonderful stay. The marina and amenities are first-rate. Derek and his staff took great care of us. If you stay more than a night or two, you'll probably want to rent a golf cart to get around the expansive grounds or a car if you want to head into town. We rented a car since we were there for a couple of weeks. This is an excellent stop for people who wanted to be in a quiet, pristine location away from Nassau. Bicycling is excellent here as well. Hammerheads (you know who you are) will enjoy the rural roads, just watch the potholes and stay on the left! The resort is still under construction but that did not bother us at all. Snorkeling is excellent at nearby West Bay, also a good scuba location. Stuart Cove's dive operation is also right next door to the Albany. Good diesel prices as observed by the prior skipper.

This is one of the only resorts in the Bahamas that actually looks like it does in the pictures. Good price on Diesel $4.90 a gal. Dock staff was great, Golf was outstanding, the pool and food were great but the pool service a little slow.

I ll try it again in 5 years... Maybe, 2013-01-16

I thought it would be a good alternative to Nassau when guests fly in or or out.

Docks are state of the art, staff is helpful but has this attitude so common at many high end Bahamian marinas...

Even though we got some fuel (just a 300 gallon extra safety reserve to make it to miami) they tried to charge us a $150 per person drop off fee for the guests who were going to the airport ($1200 total, that s no typo!)Eventually they settled for one night dockage at $300+ even thought we just stayed 2 hours

The whole basin is surrounded by fence and real estate banners to hide the construction which seems to be moving at the typical Bahamian pace... Didn't see any restaurant or shop from the dock... Who wants to stay at a construction site!

On the plus side, you don't have to deal with the Atlantis crowds. But I ll stick with yacht heaven or harbor club and their inexpensive water as well as stores within walking distance

Staff mentioned they may be changing to a private, no transient club type... No big loss.

Very Nice stay, 2013-01-09
Captain: , Aventura, Florida (330)

We have stayed here and are going back. The marina has nice floating docks. The resort it self is still under construction. There is a few resturants, ahealth club and a nice pool area. These are all on propwerty and need to be accessed by a golf cart or bike.

Great place to clear in to the Bahamas, 2012-06-29
Captain: , Sunny Isles Beach (99)

Stopped here 3/30/12 as our first stop in the Bahamas, the customs officer arrived at our boat before we could finsih filling out the paperwork. Good floating docks and free use of bikes to explore the property, but no amenities without a hefty fee. Fuel dock was the easiest to approach that we found in the Bahamas, and prices were only $.02 higher than Nassau. There is a little surge problem with southerly winds. Entrance is very well marked and easy to find. Smallest slip is 50ft, lots of mega yachts in her including "Privacy". We will return.

Great stop on the south side of New Providence, 2012-06-13
Captain: , Providenciales (32)

The marina is beautiful, the staff was really resourceful in helping us locate equipment after a lightning strike took out our gps, vhf and radar. It's a little bit remote but after arranging a rental car we were able to motor around and get what we needed. Only difficulty was intermittent WiFi.

Exceptional quality and service, but remote, 2011-12-02
Captain: , Frisco, CO (111)

We were blown away by the quality of construction and level of maintenance at this new marina. The staff is plentiful and helpful. You have the use of bicycles to get the 1/4+ miles to the upscale resort's great (but expensive) restaurants and free access to high quality pool, sauna, showers, complete with robes, product and towels. Toilet at marina office open 7a-9p, but that's the only amenity available at the marina. Only drawback is no shopping for groceries or supplies nearby. Use a taxi or rent a car ("$40/day"), arranged by marina office. Nassau is a long way from here. These are the only reasons this is not a five star rating. At $3/ft we first thought it was expensive, but after staying several nights and using all the facilities, we think it's worth it and were blown away by the quality, especially for the Bahamas. Be sure to look at the satellite view.

albany marina can't be 5 star, it's to new., 2011-06-18
Captain: , nassau (10)

why is this marina 5 star, it's brand new, you live in a constuction site, and the marina office couldn't be in a more remote location.

Top rate marina, 2011-04-02
Captain: , Newport (50)

Although the rest of the resort is still under development, the marina is fully operational. All restaurants, gym, pools, and fitness center are up and running. The golf course, designed by Ernie Els is spectacular. The staff is extra friendly and helpfull. A great marina to get away from the usual at Atlantis. The approach to the marina is well marked and straight forward.
