Reviews for Adventure Yacht Harbor
Second time is charmed, 2016-03-06
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (651)

Sea Change and crew had tried to stay here about a year ago. we made it in this time with a little tide assistance (we draw 5.5 feet). It was an easy entrance for us this time. We had expert assistance tying up at the dock. Thanks Jim and staff. We took a stroll over to the beach 3 blocks away. Boondocks at the end of the docks serves some tasty treats and beverages. This was a well protected and tranquil respite from the 25 knot north winds we had encountered on the ICW.

Avery accomodating, 2016-03-05
Captain: , Rowayton, CT (199)

Talked in through the channel by Jim and tied up next to the fuel dock. What a nice guy! Had something to eat at Boondocks. Great wifi. Again Jim very helpful when leaving. Clean shower although a bit small.

Friendly Staff, 2016-01-27
Captain: , Severna Park, MD (40)

Stopped one night while making our passage south. Marina staff were great, and made accomodation for us at the fuel pier overnight. Found the facility to be friendly to boateres, but shoreside facilities were run down. Three stars for the facilities, five stars for the marina staff.

Laid back atmosphere, helpful staff, 2015-11-12
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6422)

Follow the well marked channel off the ICW into Adventure. Staff was quick to answer phone and take our lines when docking. Older, but well maintained facility. Clean shower/restroom.

Four blocks to Atlantic Ocean beach. Boondocks restaurant on site.

spectacular!, 2015-04-30
Captain: , Naples Florida (10)

Wonderful stop! As other reviews have said, tight coming attention! Jim and staff very helpful and genuinely interested in making our stay very pleasant. We will definitely stop again on our way south in the fall.

Great marina great people, 2015-01-01
Captain: , Orange Beach, Fl (10)

Walking distance from the beach, showers, restaurant, fuel, water, and "captains lounge". This marina has a small but active live aboard community and great staff. I would recommend anyone to come and stay, the boats are completely protected in the marina. A little shoaling at the entrance though.

Good stop and well protected, 2014-10-20
Captain: , Sanford, FL (206)

Jim took good care of us, allowing us to tie up afterhours at the fuel dock so we could take on diesel and be on our way first thing in the morning. The restaurant, Boondocks, is a great place to eat and unwind after a long day on the water. Great place to stop in South Daytona.

One of my favorite Marinas!, 2014-09-04
Captain: , Kemah, TX (10)

When I took my boat, Doublewide, from Annapolis to Clear Lake, TX, I stopped at many marinas along the way. Lots of them were just wunnerful, but this one stayed in my memory as one of the best. Perhaps it is because Jim, the Harbormaster, takes a personal interest in his guests and makes sure everything is just right. I spent an extra day or two there to rest up. It is well protected and provided a nice little respite! Thanks again, Jim! The owners are lucky to have you.

Very helpful and friendly. They kept open so we could regester and reopened the ice machine for us. The restaurane, Boondocks, has excellent food and good service.

Update 21 June 2014- Great Stopping Point, 2014-07-02
Captain: , Perry, Kansas (317)

This was our fourth stop at this excellant facility. Dockmaster Jim does an outstanding job taking care of visitors.Stopped for one night, Actually in a slip this time. Boondocks restaurant on site was outstanding. Tied up to the fuel dock area, but was adequate. On site personnel were outstanding.

great place to spend time, 2014-05-06
Captain: , wilmington,n.c. (10)

We really enjoyed our stay here. Friends had recomended it & they were right. Dock master was friendly & helpful ( he even helped us get our dog off & on the boat). Good restaurant on site & the beach is only a few blocks away. Prices were reasonable.

Best Dockmaster...awesome restaurant, 2014-04-07
Captain: , Oriental, NC (60)

The dockmaster Jim is truly a one of a kind dockmaster. Worked miracles to make room for us. Stayed two months. Boondocks restaurant is on site, best seafood in the area.

Fun stop in South Daytona, 2014-03-17
Captain: , baltimore md (634)

We called on our trip room. We called again going North 3/10/14 and Ben got us in! Bike week was in full swing so we got our"peddle" bikes out and to our surprise could ride on the beach, easy on hard packed sand. We got to Boondocks about 4:30 and got a seat at the bar. This is a great on the water Tiki with very good food and absolutely the best wait staff, they work as a team. No problem coming in just stay in the center of the channel. We spent a great day and evening here. We stayed on the fuel dock. The Marina staff was quick to please and filled us in on the area. Call ahead before you go in. It is $1.50 per foot for boat US. Good heip coming and going. I would stop here again for sure.

Good tech stop 12-31-2013, 2014-02-04
Captain: , New Smyrna Beach, FL (92)

Stopped enroute to St. Augustine for fuel and pumpout. Harbormaster Jim gave us great service with good fuel prices. Boondockers Restaurant next door to the marina is a good stop for human fuel. Fairly narrow channel getting in and limited manuvering room near the fuel dock, but Jim talked us in for an uneventful arrival.

Friendly Stop, 2014-01-10
Captain: , Jacksonville, Florida (311)

Stayed on Dec 20th for one night. Unfortunately the restaurant nearby was closed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They don't appear to handle a lot of trainsients, since only two restrooms and showers. One for men, one for women They were not fancy, but clean Still could use some updating of fixtures, etc. The best feature is the short walk to the ocean and a beautiful beach.

Stop Here: Don't pass it by, 2013-11-08
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

We found Adventure Yacht Harbor on Active Captain. We had been up and down this part of the ICW many times, and decided to try something new. Here is it, and it was well worth it!!

It was howling today out of the north, but once inside the marina's channel things settled down. The channel is well marked as you turn east off the ICW, and we saw no less than 6 ft. as we came into the marina. Plenty of water at the docks. The owner of the marina and one of the dockhands met us to help us into our slip and handle out lines. Then Jim the Dockmaster arrived to be sure that everything was settled and all was good.

What a great marina. Very clean, good docks, clean restrooms and laundry, and a really nice restaurant right on property. It is a 5 minute walk across to the beach. Just beautiful. We were very happy that we found this marina, so give it a try.

Great little marina, 2013-07-02
Captain: , WELAKA (40)

We have never stopped here before but thought we would give it a try. This is a great place. Well protected and with fabulous personel. The only reason for not giving it a 5 star rating is the shallow channel leading into the marina. The channel is well marked but a deeper draft boat would certainly have to play the tide but not a problem for our 2'4" draft. Good diesel fuel prices and a good discount for BoatUS members on dockage. Don't miss Boondocks Restaurant next door but expect to wait unless you go early. It is where the locals eat and is worth the wait. Reasonable prices and wonderful seafood. We will be back.

5 Foot Draft OK, 2013-06-12
Captain: , Panama City, Florida (511)

We ducked in here to avoid a pop-up thunderstorm. Staff was super helpful and put us up on the fuel dock. We draw 5 feet and came in at low tide. We plowed through some mud in the entrance channel but made it in OK. We left in the morning with about a foot of tide with no problems. Nice place, great protection, no complaints.

Adventures of a 5' draft boat, 2013-05-21
Captain: , Herrington Harbour, MD (680)

Arrived on the high tide, still very shallow. We moved to the outside docks where it was deeper. If you have a 5' draft, this is not the marina for you.
Jim was great. ther to welcome us and was very helpful. Bath rooms were clean. Easy walk to the beach.

A true adventure, 2013-05-18
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

Adventure Yacht Harbor was great surprise. We first needed a place to park our truck while we moved northward Jim%u2019s comment no problem. While we stayed Jim accommodated us to the 10%u2019s he even laid us up at the far end of the gas dock so the walk to our truck would be short. We plan to make this one of our southward stops too. The onsite restaurant has a good burger if you%u2019re tired of fish by now.

Excellent find! Loved it so much, we made it a guaranteed stop northward bound also!!!!!, 2013-05-07
Captain: , Bristol, RI (240)

When searching for a place to stay between St. Augustine and Titusville we turned to Active Captain and found Adventure Yacht Harbor. Its quaint setting, tucked in a lagoon, made it appealing. When we arrived, Ben and Jim could not have been more helpful setting lines, connecting power, giving us info about the marina and the area. Totally professional and knowledgeable staff made our stay comfortable. We asked for a face dock since we wanted an early departure and easy out and were given a protected berth. The showers and restrooms are sparkling clean. The laundry facility is clean, close to the docks, and in an inviting sailors' lounge-living room style.
Jim suggested a walk on the beach which is only a block away. Yes! I look forward to returning in the spring for another walk on the beach. We would not have known it was there if he had not made the suggestion. We recommend this hideaway for night or week!
Tomfoolery Bristol, RI
We enjoyed our stay northbound (May) as much as we did our stay southbound-November. A Gem of a find! Kudos to the staff!

Great Spot, 2013-05-05

Really great marina experience. Came in in a blow. They were there with lots of help. Great restaurant on site. Nice bathrooms, comfortable lounge. People great. Will be back.

Narrow entrance but nice marina, 2013-04-02
Captain: , Athens, AL (641)

You don't want to be passing another boat on your way in/out but nice marked channel, a little tight docking depending on which dock you are assigned. Clean restrooms, very helpful staff. Closest grocery is Publix about 4 miles away (we rode our bikes). Easy walk to the beach 2 blocks away and great walking beaches. Wasn't that impressed with the town, kind of a "nothing unique about it" town. Price was good. Would definitely stop again.

We have found a home for Accolade., 2013-03-15
Captain: , Daytona Beach, Fl (20)

Since about a year AYH is the home for our sailboat Accolade. We are very fortunate to have a slip in this very protected marina. Hidden behind an island in Wilbur Bay, one can only see the sailboat masts from The ICW. There is no wake from passing boats since Wilbur Bay has only one navigable inlet. Even in high wind situations the wave hight is 6"to 8" max. The facilities are kept very clean, and the owner Charlie with Jim and Ben as harbor masters will do everything to make your stay perfect - as a permanent resident or as a transient. The Boondocks restaurant on the marina premises has great food, but there is no noise pooution what so ever.

Great stay (twice!), 2013-03-06
Captain: , Bluffton, South Carolina (327)

Stayed here on 2/19 and again on 2/28. Small (for transient) marina with a great marina manager (Jim). Took us to the grocery store in his own car on both visits, and was of great help in handling our lines in windy conditions both arriving and leaving. Quiet and off the beaten ICW path. This location is a bit tricky to get in and out of. My 45 ft. SeaRay draws 4 feet and I saw less than that all the way in; ground slowly through soft bottom to get to the dock. We will return.

Back after a while, 2012-11-23
Captain: , Carolina Beach, NC (362)

Stayed here several times a few years ago. Since then they have tiled bathrooms and are fixing up docks. Short walk to beach is nice after setting at the helm all day. Came in a little before low tide and saw 5.6 ft lowest.

Great stay, 2012-11-22
Captain: , Southport (42)

Awesome marina

A New Stop for Us, 2012-11-14
Captain: , Hollywood, MD (271)

Tired of the noisy Daytona marinas? Here is a place to pull in, tie up, and have some piece and quiet. Very professional staff, good prices for slip and fuel and a great restaurant right at the head of the dock. We have been trying to use ActiveCaptain sponsor marinas as much as possible and this one was not a disappointment. We'll stop in again on our way back north.

Very nice., 2012-06-01
Captain: , Soddy Daisy TN (142)

Marina is nothing fancy, but it is a very good stop. All other comments are correct except depth....we almost passed it by due to depth, but glad we didn't.....never saw less than 4.8' at low tide in the well marked channel, just stay between channel pole markers..

Fisrt Class Marina, 2012-06-01
Captain: , Welaka,Fl (60)

Fisrt time stay on our way South. Well-run, friendly, clean and safe facility; excellent staff. We plan to stop here on the wya back north in August. Highky recommended. Boon Docks restaurant was an unexpected treat.

Great Hospitality, 2012-04-26
Captain: , Stuart Fl (140)

Wanting to stop here as I,have a friend who lives clse by.I,phoned for resverations and was told the draft of my boat might not get in at half tide falling,I,gave it a go and am happy to report I,never saw less than 6.6 ft at almost low tide.Lots of help tieing up and very clean Heads, safe good spot to stop. Thanks Gyuys

Great marina, 2012-03-28
Captain: , Flagler Beach, Florida 32136 (305)

3/22/2012. Been using this marina since 1995. Has grown alot in the right direction. Great resturant (Boon-Docks) and great dock master and staff. Only drawback is the dept of water at low tide.4 ft. max at low tide. However Boat US is close by just in case. Would be a 5 star for sure with a little more water.

Great People, 2011-02-02
Captain: , Ottawa, Canada (363)

We decided to go a little further south and get out of the busy area of Daytona - the marina is as described by others, although there is now good WIFI (I'm on my back deck using it now). However, the people here are very friendly and helpful. The dockmaster Jim gave us help getting settled in and made a recomendation to have the water pump on our Onan rebuilt. Our neighbour Richard took us to the Onan dealer and then gave us a tour of Datona - very kind. It's not fancy, but the people come first in my book and I will stay here again.

Great location - very close to the beach, 2010-11-10
Captain: , Lansdale, PA (330)

Docks are in good condition, restrooms are clean and the Boondocks Restaurant was good. Harbormaster Jim helped us tie up and we really appreciated his local knowledge. The beautiful beach is within walking distance. We could hear the ocean from our slip. We chose this marina because reviews of some of the other said that they weren't in a good neighborhood, we felt safe here and would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful and Rustic!, 2008-03-13
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (15)

I dock my Catalina 25 here for 3 months every summer and love the place! If you're looking for EVERY amenity in the world look elsewhere but if you want a quiet small marina this is the place. The small rustic restaurant is great, the people nice, it's close to Ponce Inlet and is located (in my opinion) on the nicest part of the Daytona Beach area. This review comes from a 40 year local.
