Reviews for Acosta Creek Marina
Short Vacation, 2016-05-06
Captain: , Rockford, IL (20)

Nice marina with a long T dock that accommodated our 44 foot boat and a friends 42 foot boat with room to spare. Owners were gone so boaters living at the marina were helping out in her absence. Michelle, Harley, and Bud were there to help us in during a very strong wind, and another boater helped us leave early in the AM.Bud even gave me a can of old Bay seasoning to try.

Charming stop with helpful new owners!, 2016-03-26
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (10)

I kept my 24' sailboat here for a week, preppng for a trip to Jacksonville. Rates are very reasonable, docks are in good shape and restrooms are clean! Neighbors on the docks were friendly and helpful. Plenty of room for our dog to run on the spacious grounds surrounding the main house.

Jane and Bob, the new owners, were very helpful and accomodating. Bob was a savior helping me with an electical problem at a moments notice prior to shoving off!

Enthusiastic new owners, laid-back marina, 2016-01-04
Captain: , Welaka, FL (20)

We've had our boat here since Oct. '15, love it! Everyone is so helpfull and friendly, plus we are thrilled with the location and well maintained amenities. Plans are in the making for fuel docks as well.

Good place to stop on St John's. Great people!, 2015-05-19
Captain: , Jekyll Island Ga (482)

Well run laid back marina. Jay and Cathy do a good job on cuatomer service. Lots of room for projects. River current is strong at times and idiots wake you. Nice lawn and pet friendly. I second all the good previous comments. Liva boards John and Valarie gave us a generous ride to get supplies. Other wise you are near no where. The beauty of the river is in the small creeks and springs that are there for you to explore.

Jay and Cathy that own this Marina are Great! We had a good stay overnight on our way upstream. Docks are in good shape and we would definitely stop again. We had our bottom cleaned by a local diver while at the dock and the facility is clean and well kept! We did not need their travel lift but one is available.

Good basic stop on St Johns, 2013-05-07
Captain: , Silverthorne, CO (373)

Friendly and helpful. Relaxing stop as there is nothing to do nearby. Once past the row of "project" boats, there is a big lawn, resort building with pool, office, bathrooms and laundry (75 cents each washer and dryer, on the honor system). Great book exchange there.

Solid Stop, 2013-03-31
Captain: , Lighthouse Point, FL (177)

Jay is very helpful. Stayed after hours to grab our lines. He provided a lot of advice on where to go in the area, etc. We cannot rate the bath or shower facilities as we did not use them. The facility is not fancy, but docks were in very decent shape. Friendly people at the marina. Basically a place to stop for the night as there is nothing to do in the area.

Great Low Key Marina, 2013-03-21
Captain: , Ancramdale (200)

Our boat was docked here five years ago when we purchased her. We spent a week aboard then and got to know Jay and Cathy Towles, the owners of the marina. We stopped here to say hello and provision on our trip exploring the St. John's River, and they were just as friendly and helpful as we remembered.

Jay even loaned us his truck to go get some propane and a few groceries. There was a problem with the circuit breaker on the power stantion and Jay replaced it immediately, even though it was late in the afternoon on a Sunday.

We stayed at the well-maintained fixed face dock and had no problems. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk, but all facilities are clean and well kept. There is a nice laundry where the honor system is used. A load in the washer or dryer is $ .75. There is a small ship's store with necessities.

If you want chi-chi, however, this is not the place for you. If you like old Florida, hospitality and great service at a reasonable price you will like Acosta Creek Harbor.

Just OK, but There are better alternatives, 2012-05-28
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

If you need a marina, then this is ok, but otherwise go elsewhere.

Nice place, helpful staff but check on midges first, 2012-01-17
Captain: , St Johns, FL (160)

Be sure to call ahead in the spring and fall to ask about the aquatic midge conditions. This is a nice facility, and they will be honest if the midges are present you might want to pass. Otherwise give them a try! Watch for current, it is surprisingly swift through here.

No idea how this place deserved 5 stars, 2011-11-30
Captain: , Algonac, MI (1659)

Docks were filthy but in good repair. We felt like we were in a slum, surrounded by derelict boats. Bathrooms were a walk, but clean. Ship's Store is in shambles. There was no happy hour, no Liars Club, no activity of any sort. Two miles to town for restaurant. If you can do without electricity and water, suggest the free town dock two miles to the south. They do have a travel lift, and this may be a good yard for do-it-yourselfers.

Acosta Creek, 2011-05-18
Captain: , St. Lucie River (158)

Liars club get together is no longer happening, but still a great spot. Knowledgable and friendly owners, far from the resort environment. Fixed docks, haul out and boatyard avail. Not much within walking distance, taxi service can be called in. Can dinghy to Welaka with some restaurants (Shrimps are us, Cafe Blue, andersons), pharmacy and kangaroo convenience store. Lots of nature, springs, small rivers, to explore in the area.

Old Florida Charm, 2008-11-05
Captain: , Sanford, FL (1)

We certainly enjoyed visiting with other cruisers in the evenings at the liars' table. The owners are friendly, knowledgable and helpful. It is like attaching your dockline to old Florida. There is a great boatyard. What a great place to work on your boat. It is a distance from some boating resources, but services are available. There is also a nice workshop. You may find it hard to leave if you stay too long!

Nice place, 2008-03-14
Captain: , Dunnellon, Fl (3)

Very friendly. They gather the boaters in the evening for drinks and conversation (bring your own). Occasional bad wakes at the docks due to boats not observing no wake zone.
