ActiveCaptain is...

>>> ActiveCaptain is... >>>

Part of combining the ActiveCaptain and eBoatCards design was coming up with a new home page. The idea of the home page is to quickly explain ActiveCaptain to a new boater.

Every once in a while, it's a good idea to step back and figure out the central idea of an endeavor. This process started in 2014 when it became obvious that ActiveCaptain was becoming something more than a guidebook replacement.

It is often said that you should be able to define your company in as few words as possible. The relentless pursuit of perfection - Just Do It - Melts in your mouth, not in your hands - Keeps going and going and going. There are many great examples.

But we wanted to challenge ourselves. We wanted to distill ActiveCaptain down into a single word and create a maximum three word slogan to explain it.

To make the process one step harder, and a big step more important, we wanted a word that differentiated us. So picking a word like quality was out of the running because everyone believes they create quality.

After weeks of debating and brainstorming, we ruled out most of the ideas and fell in love with a single word: Sharing

That's what ActiveCaptain is...

Sharing is what sets ActiveCaptain apart. Sharing involves both the person doing the sharing and the many who are assisted.

So now check out the new home page - it's at eBoatCards.com. If you auto-logged in, select Account/Logout to bring up the home page.

There are still some graphics to complete and some pages to move over from ActiveCaptain. But this will be the ActiveCaptain home page in a few months when the websites are combined.

If you don't have an electronic boat card, login there with your ActiveCaptain email account and password and create it. We'll show some new features that were just installed on the website next week.

>>> Defender 1st >>>

Watch this spot every week in the emailed newsletter for the Defender 1st special promotion. To sign up for the newsletter, create a new ActiveCaptain account at:

...or log into the ActiveCaptain website and select My Account at the top right of the page and make sure the Newsletter checkbox is checked.

Remember - Defender 1st: one product, one week, one incredible price.

When you're thinking about purchasing boating supplies, think of Defender first.

The newsletter was sent automatically as we have unreliable internet access while cruising the out islands of the Bahamas. We'll update you next week on Dylan and Dee Dee. You can still look in on their blog:
